I love Frugattis, it's my go to for when I'm craving Italian. I tried their Fitness Baked Chicken Breast and wow!!! Only 580 calories as well, it is so filling and tasty. HOWEVER, I think today was the first time we didn't get decent service. Brianna was nice , but she wasn't checking on anybody. We had to stop her for more bread, to order our drinks & food, the bill, to get the bill, refills... she just wasn't attentive at all. And we waited a decent amount of time for her to do any of those, but we just had to stop her everytime.

We came here on Father's Day with a reservation, so it was definitely a busy day. Even with our reservation, we still had to wait to be seated, and once we were seated, it took about 10 minutes before our server came by. The service was a little hit or miss, but given how packed the restaurant was, it was understandable. The food definitely made up for it. The portions are huge! I ordered the garlic Alfredo with both chicken and shrimp, and it was rich, creamy, and absolutely delicious. The spaghetti and meatballs also had fantastic flavor

Came in for a quick lunch date. As always, we are seated fast. Our server was quick and checked on us every chance she walked by. I ordered the garlic chicken fettuccine and the wife ordered the Bolognese and shared a salad. Two glasses of wine too. Everything was delicious, we took what we didn't eat home and had dinner. I would recommend Frugatti's.

The food here was so delicious! I normally do not go for Italian Restaurants but this place was truly great! Our server was amazing also. This review has been a long time coming. We've been coming to Frugattis since it was at the other location. This location has much better parking and is large and beautiful inside. The hostess and waiters/waitresses are always on top of it and are knowledgeable in the menu and are friendly. Today Dawn helped us and she was great. She was sweet and kept our drinks full as well as made sure we had everything we needed. You will get complimentary bread to start. The food is always great. I usually order the Alfredo with any pasta and it's always perfectly slurpable. The beverages are tasty including the cocktails that get the job done. This place just feels like home and is our favorite Italian restaurant in Bakersfield. Note: You can call ahead to see if you can reserve a spot or be put on the waiting list to minimize your wait during their busy hours.

Service was great liked the ambiance. The pasta was too al dente (all 4 of our dishes). We eat out at Italian regularly in our area (Giuseppes) on the coast seems to be done differently. really liked the carrot cake.

We headed to Frugatti's on Brimhall and it was a great choice. Started with the house salad--fresh and perfectly dressed--then dove into their pepperoni pizza. The crust was spot-on, wood-fired goodness with just the right char. But the real standout was the bread they bring to the table. So fresh, warm, generous portions--could've made a meal out of it alone. Service was friendly and on point, keeping everything moving smoothly. The ambience nails that cozy, authentic Italian vibe--feels welcoming and romantic without trying too hard. Love the setup at the Brimhall spot: nice bar area, spacious takeout section (handy for busy nights). We're already planning the next visit. Definitely a new favorite in Bakersfield.

Stopped at this restaurant after a work day and I love the decor inside! We were seated fairly quickly and even the food came out fast. Our food was huge! Everything is delicious. I hope to come back to this restaurant the next time I'm in town for work. :)

Finally went to the new location. Ambiance is really fun- big and festive and loud and Italian I went with a friend on a Saturday night and it was some high schools winter formals so there was a long wait and lots of groups of high schoolers, we didn't mind we were fine to wait. We were seated about 25 mins after putting our name in. Our server was stretched a little thin so we'd see her and then she would disappear for a while. I had the fettuccine with filet tips and my friend had tortellini. I had a Chardonnay to pair with my fettuccine. We got fresh warm bread to the table with better which was delicious and had not to devour before our food arrived. I was a little surprised they didn't have more wine by the glass options but I missed their first page of reds and only saw the whites and special Italian wines but even still didn't seem like a ton of nice wines for a nice Italian restaurant My fettuccine was creamy and really hot. The steak tips with it medium and really seasoned well. The Chardonnay was a little sweet, and not my favorite, forgot the name of it but there were only 3 to choose from. We ended with lemon ricotta cheesecake and tiramisu. Both were super delicious. I think they've upped their desert game. So good.

My sis in law recommended this place and it was a total hit! After a long drive we came in hungry on a Saturday night and the restaurant was completely full. The wait time was about 40 minutes so we found a spot at the bar and hungry as we were, ended up having dinner there. Portion sizes were very generous and make it easy to share. We ordered way too much food, as usual, and loved our time spent there. At the end of the meal, I was intrigued by the keto cheesecake, and I can honestly say it was the only thing I had that wasn't so good. It came as a small tarte, and had a really bitter flavor to it. I would not recommend it! Everything else was delicious and was plated beautifully. Service was top-knotch, and parking was plentiful as they share a lot with the adjacent hotel. I will definitely be back the next time I am in town!

3.50* I'm not a pasta person. I personally think it's a waste of calories and stomach space. I could think of other foods I'd much rather indulge myself in. However, my wife and children are fanatical about pasta. So, while visiting Bakersfield I decided that I'd find a pasta restaurant that they'd enjoy. Fruggati's was highly regarded. The restaurant itself is amazing looking. The olive trees that decorate the restaurant were beautiful. It was very well lit without being overly bright. Our server was very efficient, and my wife did feel bad because she did have her come to our table more than we normally do with servers. Now to the food. We ordered the bruschetta as an appetizer. Not my favorite thing. It was super briny tasting due to the cappers. It could be my lack of experience with authentic Italian cuisine, but every bruschetta I've had previously was more on the sweet side due to the olive oil and balsamic. This one did not have balsamic, and that may well be how bruschetta is supposed to be served. As my main I ordered the artichoke, bacon, and cherry tomato pizza. I was really looking forward to it and was a little disappointed. It tasted fine. My issue was the pizza dough. I'm more of a thinner and crispy dough type of person. This was more napoleon style. Very soft and floppy. The toppings would just slide off. I guess this was more of a fork and knife type pizza. To be fair the dough was very fresh tasting and under different circumstances or as a bread option it'd be killer. As a personal preference I didn't care for it as pizza dough. If you love pasta please do not let my review deter you. I'm not the audience for this place but it may be worth it for you to try.

We went to Frugatti's Italian Eatery tonight for dinner after a long day in the office. It was certainly a nice change. The restaurant is very inviting and charming inside. Our server was quick and friendly. The food was delicious - tasting very fresh and homemade. I ordered the fitness red pepper chicken fettuccine, which was delicious and filling. I used to come here all the time, but then stopped for like a couple of months for no apparent reason, but it was my boyfriend's birthday so we went out to lunch, and when the lady brought out his cheesecake she sang a song that was literally not even joking 2 seconds short, and then said that's it then walked away. Now I've actually had my own birthday here before and they sang for me and it lasted at least 10 seconds, but it was definitely not how it was sung this last week. I'm not sure if she thinks we were trying to get away with like pretending it was his birthday, I'm not sure, but it left us feeling really uncomfortable. Thought I would share our experience, just a tip for next time. You should always go full out for every customer. Mind you she was very kind, wasn't rude at all the whole time, that just happened to be a very strange turn on us from that point forward. My daughter and I enjoyed a quiet dinner at Frugattis Italian Eatery after a hectic day. We were warmly greeted at the door and quickly shown to a comfy booth in the corner. The ambiance is hospitable and traditional. We decided upon splitting an entree of Lamb Medallions served with mint jelly, garlic mashed potatoes, and asparagus with aioli. The lamb was delicious and cooked to perfection. The potatoes had a good flavor, but because they were so dry I had a difficult time eating more than a few bites. I did not use the aioli on the asparagus, as I did not particularly care for the taste. The meal also came with fresh baked bread and clam chowder. The bread was fragrant and warm, but it's very difficult to impress this girl from Maine with New England Clam Chowder! It was a bit on the bland side. We rounded out the meal with a cup of hot Lavazza coffee, and my daughter savored a cappuccino. Heaven!! We thoroughly enjoyed the restaurant and the staff was very hospitable and attentive. The food was decent, but the flavor was not quite comensurate with the price. Update: Tonight my husband, daughter, and I savored penne primavera, aromatic Lavazza coffee, and a lemon cheesecake. This is a must try in Bakersfield! Classic Italian dishes... great big loaves of starter bread with butter p.s mix olive oil with balsamic for a great dip! The service is fast, attentive and friendly! The food is flavorful and tastes authentic unlike Olive Garden! For around the same cost too... portions are big! Harmony was an amazing server!!! She kept checking up on us & made sure everything we had everything we needed. I just moved to Bakersfield and after being cooped up in the house for so long mostly doing online ordering and cooking for myself for months and months. We went for my boyfriend's 42nd birthday and since he's part Italian, an "Olive Garden Italian," coined by comedian Mike Birbiglia) he enjoyed the more authentic Italian experience. We had just found out before too that Taylor Swift had visited the location once, which was a great fun fact. Anyway, this had been maybe my 3rd or 4th experience eating out since COVID quarantine ended & restaurants being reopened. The other restaurants I've been to recently in the city were Vida Vegan Co & Black Bear Diner. Even with a face mask, Harmony's friendly & attentive personality have shined through, which means a lot considering we've had such limited face-to-face social interaction for months & months. They followed the CDC & state guidelines for not cramming people next to each other and seating groups in every other booth. I will definitely be back. I just moved to Bakersfield & recently became a homeowner in SagePointe. I'm happy to have moved to a city with such history with great pillars of the community with amazing food like Frugatti's. Best Italian restaurant In town. I've eaten all over and you will be hard pressed to find such authentic and delicious food. They make their own bread and olive oil! It's the small details that make the restaurant amazing. From the bread to the olive oil and vinaigrette dipping sauce to the amazing dishes and portions; this place was great. This place was our favorite Italian restaurant in town. I think we had stopped coming as often due to increase in prices, location, and that it seems to be very busy on weekends. My brother treated mom and I to early dinner. We were there before 5p and may have been 2nd group inside. We were seated right away and got our drinks quickly. The server brought us refills and would check to see if everything was fine. Meat pizza- bro liked it and left 2 slices because he got full. Meatball lasagna- they have 3 different kinds, but mom choose this type. She ate half and said it was good, but wished it had more cheesy flavor. It seemed to be missing filling. Fettuccine Alfredo- was good, but not the best I have had. Sauce was on thin side. Added red pepper flakes, black pepper, and parmesan cheese that is on table. I ate half and brought half home. Portion is huge. It was very oily when I reheated leftovers at home. I don't think we will be returning even though it is closest to my home. My mom was disappointed. read more

I've gone there twice. The bread that they serve at the table is so thick and Dowie. It's hard to swallow. They don't give you a choice between butter or olive oil. Their sauce is OK. The people are very nice that work at this establishment. It looks beautiful. I'm very Italian as far as the decor is. Their lasagna has more pasta than cheese filling. It's also dry I would definitely choose Luigis over Frugatti's any day. read more

What's not to love about this place, great food, good atmosphere, friendly staff just an overall good place to eat. Recently we tried one of Frugatti's family dinner meals. They should call them family dinner and lunch the next days meals because there is plenty of food to feed the whole family and then some. It included there house made rolls (huge!), salad, meatballs, and the entree and we ordered the pasta al forno. Wow was it good and we got the Creamy Garlic Italian dressing for the salad and once you try that stuff you will never want any other salad dressing. That stuff is so good we went back just to order sides of it to keep at home (it's that good). All the food in the meal was good and we have ordered the meal now many times. Thank you Frugatti's for not taking care of the customer, and for me to not support your business anymore...we placed an online order and to pick up our order in 45 minutes, so we waited at home for appx 40 mins and when we arrived I waited in a line that took an hour to get inside the restaurant. When I spoke with an employee the name on the order he informed me that he could not find our order. So 15 mins go by and no food...so after waiting 2 hours we did not have our food. I was told it would be another hour! 3 hours for pizza and noodles...smh. For sure the food would be cold if I waited because it was madness in the restaurant. I asked to be refunded our money and left the restaurant. I'm all for supporting local businesses, but not for Frugattis. read more

My experience today was awful. I could not tell if I was eating ice or my pizza. It was like I was breathing air from Antarctica. I saw my pizza sitting on the counter for 45 minutes. My poor children had to eat pizza that stuck to the cardboard. My pizza looked so unappetizing and I had to wait over an hour for my chicken. Why would chicken take over an hour to make? I ordered caesar salad and it was a garden salad with ceasar dressing. My 8 year old son knows better not to put a garden salad with caesar dressing. I had a guest and wanted to show her the amazing taste of the community. All I wanted to do was spend time with my family. Instead I was stuck waiting all night for my food. Doing it "Nonni's way" meant finding authentic equipment and the highest quality ingredients. We started by importing a wood-burning oven from Milan, Italy, like the one my family used in our basement back in Grumento Nova. We found fresh packed tomatoes from the Cortopassi family in Modesto, Ca. - one of the most expensive tomatoes on the market but also the best. Our cold pressed extra virgin olive oil comes from the Verni Olive Oil Company, established in 1923 in the small Italian village of Sannicandro Di Bari, then brought to Clovis Ca. in 1980 by second generation grower Saverio Verni, and still made the same way their family made it in Italy. My name is Raffaele Giovanni Fruguglietti (you can call me Ralph) and I'd like to welcome you to Frugatti's Italian Restaurant and Catering, where we offer the best Italian dining experience and Italian catering services in Bakersfield, California. With the help of our dedicated staff, we want to offer the best Italian dining experience in Bakersfield and I'm lucky enough to know what a real Italian dining experience should be! Growing up in Grumento Nova, Italy, I remember going with my mother to the local baker's shop on weekends to use his wood-burning oven to bake our bread and pizza. "Nonni," as my kids called my mom, was an incredible cook and to this day, her pizza remains the best I've ever tasted. She instilled in me a love of Southern Italian cooking that became the inspiration for Frugatti's.

It just has wonderful dishes. Founder by Nick Uricchio, and his son Steve they opened Uricchio's Trattoria, clearly a family affair. Sadly, Nick died some time ago. He was the nicest guy and always had a smile on his face. His nick name was Papa Nick. He always said hello to the customers and was just a doll. Go in his honor. It is just as great as when Nick was there. Steve is usually there to greet you and he is wonderful. Uricchio's Trattoria offers a great selection of appetizers, soups (a must) and entrees to satisfy anyone. They have fresh seasonal dishes prepared with care from Executive Chef Raphael Hernandez who has been there forever I think. Parking is easy. Make a reservation, you want to do that. It gets crowded. We have been there without one before and loved sitting at the bar and eating. Anything with shrimp is great. All of their pastas are great. We loved their spaghetti and meat balls. Their vegetables are made right. They don't consider it something just to toss on your plate. They are al dente and so great. Their Linguini pasta with shrimp, scallops, clams and mussels in a tomato basil marinara sauce is my favorite and they have the best salads and desserts. It is a must stop in Bakersfield. The Main Event: This time around, I went with the En Fuego Burger. This beast is loaded with a chile-spiced beef patty, pepperjack, sharp cheddar, thick-cut bacon, chipotle mayo, pepper relish, pickled jalapeños, and a mountain of fried jalapeños + onion strings. The Flavor Profile: This burger delivers on every level, but those fried onion strings were to die for. For the side, I got the sweet potato fries, which are served as big, thick-cut wedges. They come paired with a duo of spicy ketchup and a marshmallow dipping sauce. Switching between the two was amazing, the marshmallow sauce actually makes the fries feel like a dessert. The Drink: To wash it all down, I ordered the basil lemonade, and omg, I need to figure out how to recreate this at home. It's exactly what it sounds like, crisp, refreshing lemonade with a perfect herbal basil finish. The Verdict: If you loved their old spot, the new location takes everything to the next level. It tasted completely different from what I've come to enjoy, none of the smoky mezcal flavor and none of the sweetness from the pear liquor that made it a favorite. I figured it might just be a new bartender and tried to brush it off. The carrot ginger soup was just okay. I found myself searching for both the carrot and ginger flavors, neither of which really stood out. The beet and goat cheese salad was fine, but it's hard to get too excited about a salad. Overall, the food felt subpar compared to what I've come to expect from Moo Creamery. The restaurant itself was also surprisingly loud, making conversation difficult and adding to the overall frustration. It was hard to get our waitress's attention throughout the meal, and service felt disjointed. The most disappointing moment came when we noticed my son's chicken strips and fries sitting on the counter for 13 minutes before they were finally brought to our table. By then, it was difficult not to question whether the food was still as fresh and hot as it should have been. We came in excited to experience the new location, but between the noisy atmosphere, inattentive service, and food that didn't live up to Moo Creamery's usual standards, we left feeling disappointed. Sadly, I probably won't be returning. It's hard to justify giving it another try when there are so many other restaurants in town that consistently deliver quality food, service, and a better overall dining experience.

Have not had a dinner at Frugatti's in yrs. for no apparent reason. Tonight we were working late on yr. end taxes with staff- we had Roadrunner bring us an array of things from Frugatti's to make it through the evening. WOW!!! Everything was beyond fantastic. stuffed mushroom were big an plump with awesome stuffing, Shrimp Scampi had a heavenly light sauce, Lemon Basil Halibut had great flavor, moist and firm, Lamp Medallions (husband is a Connoisseur of) were moist, flavorful and out of this world, Pizza Napolitano was wonderful, light and much flavor and very thin as we like. Minestrone soup was the best ever, had wonderful fresh flavor without being consumed with a million grams of salt like most places prepare. It was difficult to share between all of us because we each loved our own choices but loved everyone else's. Even with sharing with each other, portion sizes were ample and we all have enough left over for a nice lunch tomorrow, or as my hubby says, maybe late night snack. When time permits we are so looking forward to enjoying dinning at this restaurant and really look forward to having the joy of hearing live music "accordion". Hope he is there the night we come. Until our schedule allows the luxury of a lovely lingering dinner at Frugatti's we will definitely have Road Runner deliver this superb food to us at home. I recently attended the wine pairing dinner at Frugatti's featuring wines from Sculpterra Winery, and it was a fun and memorable evening. The atmosphere seemed pleasant, the staff kept everything running smoothly, and the food and wine pairings made for an enjoyable night out. One of the highlights of the evening was that I was seated at the winemaker's table with his family. It was such a nice experience to be able to speak with them throughout the dinner, hear stories about the winery, and learn more about their winemaking process. That personal connection added a special touch to the event and made it feel much more intimate. Of all the wines served, the 2024 Sauvignon Blanc was the clear standout for me. It was bright, crisp, and incredibly drinkable. The best dish of the night was the Chicken Parmesan, which was prepared wll and packed with a ton of flavor. And then there was dessert. Nothing can beat Frugatti's Mudslide Cheesecake made with Kahlua. Rich, creamy, and indulgent. It was the perfect finale to an already excellent meal. My only complaint was the seating in the wine cave. While it created a unique atmosphere, we were packed in pretty tightly, like sardines! A little more elbow room would have made the experience even more comfortable. read more

The food is great but the customer service, not so much....... Valentines Day. I called to reserve a family meal for pick up but after being on hold for several mins I was told to leave a message and then sorry the mailbox was full. So I went online to place the order. I got two $25 gift cards for Christmas that I wanted to use but there was not an option for gift cards when placing the order. I thought no biggie, they can just adjust the balance when I pick up the order. Was told sorry, they can't do that. I asked them if they could just refund the transaction and use the gift cards. Sorry, they can't. I was told they could only use the gift cards if I came in person to place the order. I was pretty torqued. When I placed the order it was 2:20pm and est. pick up was 60 mins. I went to pick it up at 4:20pm and it still wasn't ready! Can you imagine the wait time if I had gone and placed the order in person! If you order online and you have gift cards, be warned...........you're outta luck! read more

I recently dined at Frugatti's Italian restaurant, and while the food was fantastic, there were a few service hiccups that affected the experience. We had a reservation, but still had to wait about 45 minutes to be seated, which was a bit frustrating. Once seated, our server seemed a bit scattered, and we ended up waiting around 15 minutes just to get our waters, followed by another 10 minutes for bread. We finally ordered, and then had to wait about 40 minutes for our meals to arrive. That said, the food itself was worth the wait. The portions were generous, and everything we ordered was delicious. The flavors were spot on, and you definitely get a lot for your money. My only suggestion is that the restaurant could benefit from more staff to ensure a smoother dining experience, as the long waits definitely took away from the overall enjoyment. Overall, I'll definitely be back, but next time I'll make sure to come with a half full stomach to handle the long wait! read more

If you're looking for a dry, overpriced Fetuccine Alfredo (or as our server said: "Just noodles and sauce?) then Frugatti's is the just the spot for you. Fetuccine Alfredo is as basic as it gets for Italian food. if a restaurant can't get that one right, they might as well give it up. I managed to eat three or four bites of it when I finally just gave up. The amount of food left on my plate should have been some kind of signal to the server that something wasn't right but that light never went on; instead, he asked if I wanted a "box." When I said "no," there was another signal that went flying by. Instead, I had to tell him "no" three times; once should have been enough. Typically, I don't decide to go out for dinner because I'm in the mood for an argument with a server. Once is enough for Frugatti's. Ridiculous prices don't make the food good; good food makes the prices not matter. read more

5 star isn't enough. From the ambiance, to the staff, and the food! Walking up we were worried about how long it would take to seat a party of 7. It was minutes! Alley was our waiter and he was so personable, remembering our friends name and using my throughout the meal. He had great recommendations and information on the menu. Our glasses were never empty or even low. The bread, Parmesan, oil and vinegar were a great start. We had their 3 best appetizer to start. The meals... wow! Huge portions! Great flavor! The kitchen staff has it down as everything was perfect. Even when we asked for bo bell peppers, they remembered. No one was disappointed in their food. And for the amount of food, the price was perfect. You could get away sharing a plate as everything was so large. When we're in town for drag boat racing, we'll be back. This is my go to for pasta! We like to come here for special occasions. Like this last time, it was my cheat day! The sevice is spot on. Our waiter brought everything in record time, including fresh cracked pepper. Even when the restaurant started getting packed, he never forgot us. Ordered Theresa's favorite, it's a wondeful pasta dish and starting to be my personal go to! Its a great balance of creamy and tang! The portions are also large. Great for those who love to take home leftovers, or want to share with a partner! Next time we go, I plan to try their healthy entrees.They are located near the back of the menu. I passed out when i was waiting for my table: they were so kind and accommodating to me!! I had no idea why i passed out at the time; but i found out later it was due to a longstanding heart and lung issue, i wasn't getting enough oxygen. Regardless they got me some bread to snack on Incase it was diabetic (it wasn't) related. They were so kind. My first time coming was with my former boss. I have to say if he didn't pay both times i probably never would have been able to try this place! It's pretty pricy but the food is AMAZING!! Frugatti's has become a favorite for my partner and me. The food was not just delicious; it was amazingly so. The overall experience, from the food to the service, surpassed my expectations. The atmosphere was exceptional, creating a perfect setting for a delightful evening. We indulged in the Chicken Parmesan, Garlic Shrimp Fettuccine, and Garlic Bread with Mozzarella, and each dish was a culinary delight. Which was offered free with a yelp check in. I LOVE these. Went with the fitness steak about $19. Medium rare. It was delicious. Cooked perfectly. The wood burning oven gives it a unique flavor. Our family eats here about once every two weeks, usually for dinner. The location is very convenient, at the corner of the Truxtun extension and Coffee Road. It's family-friendly, but there are also usually a lot of couples there. The owner, Ralph Fruguglietti, was born in Italy and really knows how to make delicious Italian food. My favorite is the Thai Chicken Pasta. They also have a "fitness menu" which offer many healthy choices. The service is great and the live accordion music is wonderful to listen to. read more

Just moved to Bakersfield and we eat out a lot. So I jumped on yelp to find a good Italian which is a necessity. the pizza was out of this world. I think the wood burning oven really makes a difference. The crust was crispy but still held a lot of topings without getting soggy. The food is good enough, although I seem to remember it being better as a child when their sister restaurants bootleggers (ahead of its time) and Giovanni's in shafter were still open. The price points don't make sense to me, but they offer a great atmosphere, and incredible desserts along with a cool ambience. That being said I think their are better Italian options if you are willing to sacrifice the ambience. read more

Perfect for family outtings or date night.. or even if you just want to go get a glass of wine and pasta by yourself :) I like the fitness chicken when i am being good, and the eggplant parm when im not being so good!!! It's just a basic italian restaurant with typical offerings. I've been twice in the last few months. The first time the service was terrible. The second time is was marginal.
