Staff was attentive and the cucumber water was delicious, unfortunately nothing good can be said about the Birria Ramen which was flavorless and came with undercooked instant ramen noodles. Located where Rubio's used to be (RIP), Fuego Cravings is the new taco joint on the block, serving up birria, asada, and other types of tacos for the PV community-- especially when there's limited (good!) Mexican food on the hill, Fuego Cravings is a godsend. I ordered the Fuego taco, which is a hot Cheetos taco; I opted for birria meat. At over $7 (after taxes) for one taco, I don't think it's worth it, but the server (and owner?) also offered me horchata on the house, which was really nice of him. Service went above and beyond! The Fuego taco itself was as pretty as it was delicious: tender meat and stuffed to the brim with cheese and toppings. The hot sauce on the side had some heat, but it was very manageable. First time here. We decided to give it a try for lunch. I didn't expect much as getting authentic Mexican food is rare around here. Can I say "wow!" Were we ever impressed. The food didn't disappoint. The tacos were absolutely delicious. They were crunchy and flavorful. Dip them in the consume' and you will definitely enjoy them even more. The birria ramen was great, even though the ramen was generic too ramen, the broth elevated it and gave it great flavor. It was perfect for a cold day and so tasty. The cucumber aguas was very natural and not overly sweetened. We will definitely come back and be repeat customers. What a great find. I was excited to learn there is a vegan option. Sadly what I got was a taco with chunks of jackfruit straight out of a can that seemed to have been briefly dunked in a light broth and drained. What I had hoped for was shredded jackfruit stewed in a rich birria sauce as I've had in vegan restaurants elsewhere and are delicious. We went into the restaurant on a Sunday night after my sons hockey game about 20 mins before closing. The woman working was not pleasant and looked annoyed for us to be there. She was rude when I was placing our order. Then it took approx. 15 mins to prepare our food which I placed as a dine in order. She brought our food and had it all packaged in to go containers. I said I placed a dine in order. She said well we close in 5 mins eat as much as you can during that time. Extremely rude and not accomodating to customers. I worked in a restaurant and never made a customer feel like they need to leave when they came in right before closing. Because this location is new, I'm being generous with the third star, hoping they will get better. For now, the rice was cold, the beans were mealy and had a metallic aftertaste. I don't think there's a good value proposition. I get that there might be a premium to be up here in the high rent district , but you still have to provide a good roi. This place is more like a fast food mexican joint in the peninsula mall. This is where rubio's coastal grill used to be. I have tried multiple items here before and my favorite is the birria ramen and the quessabirria. The ramen is not the straight ramen noodles you would get at a Japanese restaurant and the noodles are most likely instant but the birria broth and meat is very good! This is our second time trying this place. The first time was decent. The ramen wasn't my favorite but the tacos tasted good. The horchata was pretty good. Now, as my second time... I'm very disappointed. I accidentally order food. I had my order set up online and when I went to check what time they closed, I saw it was 9 and at the time of ordering it was 8:33. So I went back to delete what was entered and then it stated I placed an order.. so I left bad but figured they would tell me if they couldnt complete it or it was too late, etc. Nope. Did say anything, sent me a confirmation email for the order. I ordered 2 carne asada tacos and two chicken tacos..... At least tell me the meat was going to be old meat that was sitting out AND I'm pretty sure the carne asada had left over pastor mixed in because I could taste the pork (which I'm allergic to). The meat was old tasting, very stale, tasted like it was warmed up real quick and then thrown in tortillas.... Very disappointed. I also ordered two horchatas.... reach out to your customer and tell them the horchata is going to be old and watered down. DIDNT CALL. Then they thought it'd be smart to add ice to it which made it literally taste like strange water. Had no horchata taste at all. And the mangoneda looks absolutely nothing like the menu photo.
