This restaurant is casual. It has a semi fast food atmosphere. There are plenty of tables indoors, as well as, outdoor patio tables. Television screens mounted on the walls. Clean and sparse, nothing fancy. I ordered the Birria ramen. Honestly, it was a little too salty and the noodles tasted exactly like the ramen noodles you buy at the grocery store, packaged in plastic. The meat was not high quality either. I enjoyed my drink. Service was friendly and efficient. Parking: Free, covered outdoor mall parking.

Relaxed and chill Mexican spot. We had a group of 6 and came in kind of late for dinner and they were very nice not pushing us to clean up and go. Unlimited chips and salsa. We got a quesadilla to share and it came with 2 bowls of consommé. It could use more cheese inside. I hope one day they have a salsa station! Next time I hope to try the birria ramen!

Got the Classic Burrito with asada and no rice plus Chips & Guacamole Sauce. The burrito was tasty. The chips were medium thickness and crispy. The guacamole sauce was creamy. Service was very friendly.

    Taco Tuesday

Looking for a new Taco Tuesday spot and this place popped up! I'm pretty picky about my street tacos but I have to admit I was pleasantly surprised! I tried, carne, pastor, carnitas n chicken (in order from favorite to least). But I thought they were all good!! What I really enjoyed was it was not greasy as some tacos can be. Only reason I'm giving it 4 stars is due to the place is kinda hidden in the mall area. Which why I think there were not many patrons inside. But once you find it, it's a nice clean location and the gentleman at the counter was very nice n explained the top items they are known for. Which is birria. It's a short drive for us, so we will definitely be back to try out some new items. If you're in the area, give it a try!

This is the spot of lunch!! Always fresh and always quick! Great for getting a bite to eat on your lunch break.

    Fuego Nachos with chicken

I tried the Fuego Nachos this time and chose chicken for my meat and asked for the jalapenos on the side. It was good and they would have been perfect if the chicken wasn't a bit dried out. The chicken bits had a good flavor though. Maybe it was pre-cooked? I don't know. The service is always good here and the other dishes I had here have been yummy but the chicken bits on the nachos... not so much. :/

Tasty Birria Ramen! Enjoyed sitting outside at a sunny table. Green sauce had a bit of heat with Cilantro, red had a huge heat kick.

This time I got the taquitos, and they were pretty good! Definitely a little challenging to eat, but tasted good. And they tasted very fresh which was a perk. Would go here again!

The sign on the door showing birria was very enticing so I decided to try this place for dinner after my workout. It's right in the center of the outside mall across from the Christmas tree. When I walked in around 6pm there was only one family there but a few people were coming in for pickup. I ordered the quesabirria and the fuego taco with asada. It took about 5 minutes to get my order. When the lady Mariela brought the food, I noticed there wasn't any salsa or Birria sauce in the side. I've never had a birria taco without the Birria sauce. That's the whole reason I ordered that taco. When I asked her where was the sauce, she said did you want sauce? I said yes and can I get salsa too. She said red or green and I said both. She looked a little perturbed that I said that which is weird because don't most people want salsa with their Mexican food? Lol. The family waiting for their take out heard our interaction and made sure to ask if there was salsa in their bag too. The quesabirria was good and hit the spot. I really should have just had that. First off it's cheaper than the fuego taco and it tastes much better. The fuego taco with asada was not good at all. The asada was way too salty for my liking. I used all the salsa and had to dip that taco in my birria sauce to make it edible. I asked for a spoon and once again Mariela seemed annoyed with me. Maybe she was just having a bad day but she never thanked me, checked on me (the only diner in the restaurant), or said bye or anything when I left...not even a smile. Even though the quesabirria was good, her vibe was bad. All in all I wouldn't come back here or recommend this spot to people at my Equinox gym nearby. There's so many other spots in the area so next time I'm in Rolling Hills Estates, I will try them out.

The good: I tried a fish taco, quesabirria, horchata, peninsula burrito and tortilla chips. I liked the spice and vegetable on the fish taco. The tortilla was crunchy on the quesabirria. There was both indoor and outdoor dining options. The outdoor space is right by the splash pad so this is a nice food spot to visit when taking the kids to play in the water. I liked how they had a variety of kid meal options for around $9 that came with free ice cream. The quesabirria special came with a free drink. The horchata had chunks of rice inside so it was texturally interesting and chewy (which I liked). I liked that it wasn't too thick or creamy. The ambience is very casual. The bad: The music inside was a little loud but only because I had a baby with me. The burrito was just okay to me. I would've liked more vegetables inside or salsa. They didn't give any sauces on the side but my husband used my moms salsa from her quesadilla. They forgot the horchata at first and we had to remind them about the drink. They accidentally brought my husband's burrito out to the wrong customer. The interesting: They also sell mangoneada and flan.

There were a few things that really stood out and made me very happy that I gave it a try. First, the red sauce in the salsa bar: very legit! Spicy, but very flavorful! I also tried the green chili/tomatillo sauce, which was also very good and good counter point to the unctuous marinated chicken. And they don't go cheap on the meat. Secondly, the corn tortillas were made in house and were hefty! Very tasty and held together where other tacos need two of the thin store-bought variety to have a hope to stand together. Very good. If I had the tiniest critique, I would say to add a tiny bit more salt to them, but I have a theory why they may go scant on it, and I respect that. Third, the beans and rice: The beans were very simple, but simply good. It takes a lot of guts to make and serve simple pinto beans boiled with salt. I know! What a concept! But simply delicious, and made to complement the rest of the food, and not distract from it. It takes a lot of confidence in my opinion for a restaurant to have such faith in their food to leave some that should be simple, simple. The same was true for the rice: simply well made, not over done with a ton of ingredients. It was well made: the individual grains didn't stick together. And it was unctuous without being overbearing. If I had to guess, I would say that they used broth and chicken fat. Simply good, and a complement to rest of the meal. Now to my theory. It makes sense that the masa would be light on the salt because it is the same masa that they use for pupusas, and the filling for pupusas (I just like that word) is savory and well seasoned. I'll let you now next time I got back and try the PUPUSAS! ;)

I usually baseline judge a Mexican spot on their salsas and their carne asada. Salsas are not great. I tried all of them and none of them stood out. Their green sauce is over blended and just doesn't taste great. Asada wasn't the best quality and had gristle. Lengua was kind of shredded into pieces and by the end of the taco I didn't really want to keep eating it. Chicken tasted like it was seasoned with a ramen packet or something just odd seasoning.

Let's start with the margarita I got, I did not taste any alcohol in it (and I cannot have strong drinks! So that can tell you a lot) not worth $18. We basically paid for an expensive agua fresca! Then I ordered the carne asada skewers. The first bite was okay, not very flavorful, but I thought I could just finish it. As I go through the meat, I notice so much fat and very little meat. I grab another piece and bite into it, I start chewing and realize that it tasted like raw meat (with a hint taste of raw meat that spent too much time in the fridge) I immediately got nauseous and spit it out on a napkin. I told our server and he asked me what else I would like. I then ordered the fish tacos, he brought it out in less than 5 minutes (kind of fast if you ask me) I try a small piece of the fish and it wasn't bad, I give a piece to my friend and she only got fat. Why is there fat in my fish tacos! I tried to pick through it so I could atleast get full, but I couldn't do it. The server came to pick up our plates and asked me if I didn't like the tacos, I said no but that's okay don't worry about it. I was so disappointed because I was starving. My friend ordered the rib eye tacos and had to pick through it too because most of it was fat. The only good thing that happened was that our server did not charge me for the two plates that I didn't eat. We thanked him, paid the check and left. Unfortunately, this was not the best food and we were excited to eat and celebrate my birthday.
