This is the first time that I have been to the Fuji Bakery, and it is great. We got quite a few things to sample: Curry beef Roll. Canadian bacon and potato, Pear custard tarts. Orange and chocolate pastry, brandied cherry pastry, pineapple custard pastry. My favorite is the savory curry beef roll, but everything we tried was really good! Fantastic selection with lots of unique offerings! The parking lot is small but there's plenty of free street parking. Our attendant was super friendly and patient. If they had fresh pieces available she went out of her way to get them from the bakery racks rather than taking the less fresh pieces out of the display case. Saw this place had Ube malasadas--so I knew I had to check it out. First shot at trying it I arrived about 20 minutes before close & they had just ran out. Stopped by the next morning and found that there were many other treats there that also caught my eye. Got that ube malasada along with the bacon & English mustard wrapped epi. Let me tell you--the malasada did not disappoint with it's freshness, fluffiness, taste & filling ratio. Very pleased. And for that epi, oh my god.. I have never even heard of such a thing but it ended up being my favorite form of bread I've EVER purchased. Not only was it a fun shape, but every bite had perfect flavor and texture consistency. I want to give this small business 5 stars. But the 3 times I've been there seems like I'm irritating them by asking simple questions. I'm new to Queen Anne area and would like to patronize the businesses in my new area. Pastries and breads are wonderful. I think yall need to retain the staff. Today when I left and the one time I didn't feel like leaving a tip for a Croissant, her face hit the floor. I said bye and she didn't reply back. Why do businesses make customers feel bad for not tipping for a 2 min interaction. I'm in the service industry and own my own business. I raised my prices! Do the same! Stop making us feel like we are forced to tip. I refuse to feel guilty. I was hesitant to write this review. But I'm so tired of this behavior. I normally like to highlight greatness in businesses. I work across the street and visiting Fuji bakery has become almost a daily routine for me. Their Matcha malasada is great, but I'm more of a savory person so I usually stick with a beef curry malasada and bacon cheese braid. Malasada is $4.95 and braid is $3.75. Both are amazing: the malasada is crispy and flaky on the outside with a chewy texture middle and a tasty beef curry filling, the braid has plenty of crispy cheese and juicy (my preference over crispy) bacon. Came here for a breakfast before a hike and was not disappointed. So many delicious options, it was really hard to choose. I went with the BLT sando and a beef curry pan. My husband tried the ham and cheese croissant, and my daughter had a regular croissant. Everything was to die for. Over the last week, I had the wonderful opportunity to explore some of Seattle's great eats (finally!). I've been wanting to explore the bakery scene because... why not? I typed in bakery to Yelp and a few popped up. I mistakenly believed that Fuji Bakery was in the International District (but alas, it is not) so we decided to make a trip over there as we were planning on walking around the neighborhood to explore. What caught my eye was the multitude of pictures posted of traditional French baked goods with a Japanese influence. Mango croissant? Ube masalada? yes please! So we headed over mid-morning on Sunday and there was already a line out the door. They are located on a busy street and have a small amount of street parking and a very tiny lot which will likely be full. That being said, people are quickly coming and going so you're going to get a spot, you may just have to be patient. When you walk in, you'll see that the space is tiny but the glass cabinets are chockers full of wonderful treats. It seems their flavors are constantly updated because there were new things there that I didn't see mentioned in the comments. For example, they had an apple pie croissant today that was heavenly. We also decided to go all out on the cream filled masalada pastries: Ube, passionfruit and regular cream (we actually ordered Azuki - Red Bean filling and we got the wrong one given to us... not a concern whatsoever). All were fantastic. We were too full to eat it all the same day and I did the sin of keeping it until the next day... and it was still awesome! Looks like you can pre-order on their website as well so check that out if you're looking to pick up something for a large gathering or if you wanted to be the star at work. Many folks working behind the counter there and they never seem to stop moving, but that is what keeps the counters full and the line of hungry customers moving. So after stalking the website for a few days trying to get my hands on one of their elusive strawberry shortcake cakes, I finally got a 6" one today. Drove over an hour to pick it up with no complaints because I was that excited. Also picked up a passion fruit tart, some cream puffs, danishes and some bacon, cheese bread (sorry I can't remember the name). The cake is beautiful and I almost didn't want to eat it but couldn't help myself. The cake is a lot more beautiful then it actually tastes. The cake itself wasn't moist and it just wasn't what I expected with all the great reviews it has. I was truly disappointed. The danish was better and definitely creative to say the least. The bacon, cheese bread are really good. The cream puffs are ginormous and flaky and the cream is delicious. The passion fruit tart is my favorite. All in all it was a good experience and will be back if I'm in the area. read more

OMG. I spent a lot of dollars here in a matter of few minutes. It is that good. We hopped in to pick up a cake. We are celebrating our first year in Seattle. Picked up a strawberry, peaches cream cake. But how can you ignore the display counters. Those mouth watering, super sweet and delightfully decadent pastries ... so we picked up sugar doughnuts, pork bbq pastry, beef bun, chocolate croissant, cream almond something , quiche ( ham and spinach as well as mushroom ) and the undoubtedly beautiful macaroons ( raspberry, lavender, passion fruit and chocolate) . Next hopped on to the Vietnamese butter cookies. Absolutely demolished the arms carrying all the goodies back home. Extremely clean, Parking is just around the corner, social distancing and facial masks and other requirements stated by the county diligently followed. After my third visit, review! Me & my hooligans have tried many of the puffy delicious treats they offer. Reasonably priced (it's not the grocery store after-all) and pretty filling (few things are worse IMO than eating donuts/pastries and not realizing that I have eaten my fill until number 4 or 5 --because they are fried puffs of air that are still calorie laden bombs!) Crispy -cream-filled are a favorite. But I don't think you could go wrong here. No worries with the 'rona here staff more than met the standard. Enjoy! read more

Where has this place been all my life (living here in Seattle)? Was so glad to be brought here by my friends who immediately ordered one of everything almost. From their delicately balanced sandos (we got the egg salad and the pork katsu) to their unique croissant selection that is second to none (that apple pie croissant is drool worthy ). My friends also got the cheddar and jalapeño bread braids that they were gracious enough to let me sneak some glorious savory bites from. And who can forget their beef curry ball. The location is always buzzing and a wonder to see how they churn out such consistently delicious baked goods. Truly a perfect combination of the decadently flakey baking prowess of the French, married with the precision and balance of the Japanese. I would say the only criticism is the beef curry ball can be a bit on the greasy side but other than that everything I've ever tried from here has been glorious. Most recently I had a s'mores croissant that was like a treat on top of treat. Kudos to Fuji bakery! read more

I came in here two days in a row because I wanted to try more goodies before heading home to Houston. Overall I ordered: 2 Ham & Potato Quiche (5/5) Matcha Chocolate Croissant (4/5) Almond Croissant (4/5) Pear tarte (4/5) Crunchy corn flake (5/5) I wanted to try the beef curry but they were sold out so I know that is a hit. High quality baked goods at both the International District Location and Elliott Ave location. The shops sell a combination of Japanese-style items and French-American (or just American) items (baked daily!). A limited selection of their baked goods are pretty authentic to Japan in technique and flavor profile, which is a little difficult to find in Seattle, so if that's something that interests you, you'll love this place. Honestly, their breads and croissants are out of this world -- so flavorful and moist and totally worth the calories -- and I am never disappointed by this place's sweets or dough-to-flavoring ratio, as I have been by some other places I love (*ahem* Piroshky Piroshky!). Example: I am partial to the raisin bread and I don't even like raisins! The drawback of the Elliott Ave location is that it closes at 4. I really craved their particular brand of raisin bread one day (past 4) so I drove a little further, went to Whole Foods and got some... It wasn't the same quality at all and very dry. Surprised how unfriendly the customer service was... it was 7 something in the morning, and we were the only customers there. We were looking at the pastries for like 30 seconds and got yelled at twice. I guess we should have left at that point but we were just too curious about some of the interesting pastry options lol. Anyway we started ordering before getting a chance to check out all options there, it went so awkwardly and when we asked for recommendations she said no, hmm... it's not over yet, she finished her epic service by smashing our pastry box... I mean, we were the only customers at that time, it's not like there was any rush... This place has the best croissants!I couldn't believe how light, fluffy yet crispy these croissants were. We ordered a blueberry lemon danish (will 100% get again), cream cheese danish (not their best- just a chunk of cream cheese. Thank goodness it was surrounded by croissant), banana bread (decent), beef curry donut (YUM), green tea filled donut (AMAZING), and cheesecake (SO GOOD!- not too sweet, but perfect soft whipped texture). I definitely want to come back and try some other pastries the next time we're in town, but so glad we made a random stop here. We've only been to the Bellevue location, so I'm glad we came here because the quality is just not that same on the Eastside. Also, the staff were super friendly, which is always a plus! read more

I went in after driving by so many times. I thought great an Asian bakery really close to my home! When I drove by I never had time to go in-I was always on my way to somewhere else. The building is very unassuming, the outside is nothing to write home about...but I was still hopeful. I then went home looked at the actual website and thought, Ok it really doesn't look like a true Asian bakery but they look like they have some goodies and maybe they aren't showing all the Asian treats. I went in on a Saturday morning. The customer service is AMAZING at this establishment. It is the customer service you wished that you received at any establishment. Very cheerful and kind employees. I will be honest-I wasn't overwhelmed by the assortment. They did have a few gems that you would not find at other bakeries. But overall it is a French bakery with a few (very few) Asian infusions, I only picked out 1 sort of Asian Infused item. I chose: -Creme donut with cornflakes on top-It was good...the creme was a little chunky (I wouldn't get this one again) -Milk Stick-I was hoping to get something similar to asian milk items I have enjoyed it the past. A little dry but the taste was good. -Pecan roll-It was tasty, but a pecan roll. -Strawberry Shortcake-The name would imply that there should be more than 2 little quarters of strawberry in the piece of cake I received. The cake part was DRY it was like eating a block of chalk dressed up as cake- I am noticing a pattern here...the pastry here is dry...not moist and not delicious. Way too expensive for the dry cake I just ate. -I ordered a Hibiscus tea, this was so good but the person who made it over filled the cup with so much ice I only probably drank 1 cup of the tea (Order with super light ice if you want tea rather than a cup of ice for 3.95$). Would not come in again-Nothing was horrible horrible but it wasn't worth a special trip (I wasn't blown over) I would rather drive a little farther to a true Asian bakery-I could get a lot of these items at any bakery. The name is a little misleading-come in but don't expect to be blown away. Got a to go from here a couple of days ago. I had always assumed they were a bakery with sweet treats but I was happy to find out I was wrong. I got myself a veggie quiche and a chicken Katsu salad. The quiche ($4) was small but was delicious. Zucchini, bell peppers ,carrots were used as the filling and that was exactly what I was craving for. The Katsu salad however was actually a mini burger with a katsu and some salad sandwiched between a bun. I ditched the bun and devoured my katsu which tasted great. I think the salad was around $3.25 . My lunch needs were fulfilled. I was happy with the taste. Personally I believe the quiche is over priced. Come here for anything they have on their menu. Seriously. My only issue when I go is trying to make a decision. Online ordering is easy also, and you can opt for curbside where you don't even have to get out of your car. This can be good for weekends as sometimes they can garner a short line. Social distancing guidelines are strictly enforced with a customer limit in the store as well as folks in line outside.
