Located near the center of the island, we tried their sashimi and they seemed to have us large cuts of sashimi, rice and miso soup. We also ordered their lunch combo which came with fresh salad; a cup of green tea accompanied the lunch. I have ordered takeout from them about 20 times since living here, and every time the order has been correct, on time, fresh, and the staff have been super nice. Excellent sushi here! I've been several times and never been disappointed. The shrimp tempura is probably my favorite regular roll, the American Dream is a great Fuji specialty. So I have to admit that I have an expectation when it comes to sushi and that also means that I normally don't go to mediocre Japanese restaurants, but this place was the only option on Roosevelt Island. Ordered Alaska Roll and Long Island Roll for takeout. Surprisingly, it didn't take long. One star for the fast service! But when I came home and started eating them, I found a small piece of a plastic piece from one of the Long Island rolls. And NO, it wasn't a grain of rice although it looked like one. I went here a few years ago and I'm so glad that it's still open. Covid 19 has been very hard but I'm so happy that it's still here. They still have really great food at an amazing price. They sell so much things from appetizers like soft shell crab to literally sushi. It's so good. I ordered miso soup, seafood yakisoba, chicken katsu combo box, two orders of spicy tuna rolls, pork and vegetable gyoza, shrimp tempura, and banana tempura. The miso soup was very flavorful, it was surprisingly very subtle yet refreshing. It had such a good balance to it with the tangy salty miso flavor and the seaweed and tofu just helped it taste even fresher. My mom tried the yakisoba but I couldn't eat it, she said it was really good with all the different seafood, scallops, shrimp, crab meat, etc. The chicken katsu was so crisp yet flavorful, it wasn't dry and it just was so satisfying. In my combo box, they added shrimp and vegetable tempura, shumai, california rolls, rice, and two different sauces. Surprisingly, the katsu wasn't very heavy. It was so worth it for the price. The spicy tuna rolls were so good and it wasn't as spicy but it tastes really refreshing. The pork gyoza was so good and very flavorful, it had a subtle sweetness from the soy sauce and had a lot of wonderful juices. The vegetable gyoza was alright but it had a weird aftertaste. The shrimp tempura was so crispy and it wasn't overcooked. The Banana tempura was alright. Overall, I'm very satisfied with coming there and I can't wait to come back again, it was such a pleasant visit. Also, the servers were really nice, already giving us water and always asking if the food was okay, even making sure that we were fine. Such nice ambiance and such amazing food and amazing service.
