They ensured that the food was safe and every time I emptied a plate, there was someone taking it from in front of me. The atmosphere was nice. Restaurant is easy to find with ample parking. Customer service was friendly and attentive. My foodie companion and I arrived here very hopeful and chose to sit at a table vs counter w/conveyor food. We've been to many AYCE sushi places in SoCal and Vegas and were pleased to find one in the Bay area. The concept here requires customers to walk to the middle of the dining area to place their own sushi/sashimi orders. How does it makes sense for SO MANY people to congregate in the middle of the restaurant, stand in line for however long, while hovering near people dining at their tables to place & wait for your orders? Additionally there are some open shelves of self serve unlabelled uncovered sushi items without sneeze guards when you finally reach the sushi chefs where orders are placed. If competition is your thing then you may like having to keep glancing over to see if you should rush over to place more orders. We weren't fans of the "process," and wondered if maybe this ordering system was a result of waitstaff shortage? The salmon/hamachi collars, avocado rolls, sesame balls, and fried banana were really good. Fried soft shell crab and fried oysters were heavy on the batter. We tried several sushi/sashimi items and were not impressed with quality or presentation. It was game over for us when we received our poorly cut blemished hamachi sashimi. Not sure what I was really expecting however, I came w/a friend on Friday morning. When we arrived at 11:01am (when they open) there was already a line of 22 people. We signed in and it took 22 minutes to be seated. We received our appetizers of sesame balls and something else I can't remember, in addition to our beverages. We got up and ordered some rolls and sashimi. I don't like spicy but I also ordered the spicy salmon thingy w/jalapeños and it was DELICIOUS! I have to be honest, it was (imo) the best thing I had there. The sashimi was good as well. Everything else was just kind of okay for me. I don't know that I will be back bcecause its so far away from where I dwell but it was a nice experience nonetheless. read more

I am a big fan of Fuji Sushi Buffet in Vacaville. When I found out they were opening in Concord, I was super excited because I no longer have to drive long distance whenever I crave AYCE sushi. This location is adjacent to Buffalo Wild Wings, across from The Veranda. My brother and I met some friends here for dinner on 05/31/2022 at 6 pm. Upon of arrival, one of our friends had already put us down on the Yelp Waitlist. We were seated at around 6:20 pm. The interior was bright and clean and about the same size as the one in Vacaville. The conveyor belt seating area was in the middle and tables were set up in an U-shape around it. Some of the smaller tables were tightly packed together. Dinner was a reasonable $30.99 per adult (15% gratuity automatically added for parties of six or more). The menu was identical to the one in Vacaville. We gorged ourselves on a wide array of appetizers, sushi, and sashimi. For the most part, the food was delicious and fresh. However, I did find blood line that wasn't trimmed on a couple pieces of salmon and some appetizers tasted like they have been sitting around for a while. One thing I didn't like, especially with COVID rebounding, was how they let ready-to-grab rolls sit uncovered at the sushi/sashimi ordering area. Although there was a sign asking diners to have their mask on while ordering, some failed to follow the rule. Having unmasked people breathing on uncovered food is just unsanitary. Also, the busboy needs to put his mask over his nose since he comes into close proximity to all diners. Hopefully management can figure out solutions for these concerns. I hate being the COVID police, but this is the world we live in now. The staff were friendly but service was hit or miss. We were ignored for ten minutes after we were seated but later on it picked up. Despite the shortcomings, I am still a fan. Hopefully, the next experience will be better. 3.5 stars rounding up to 4. Fuji Sushi in Concord, yay! Finally a branch near our place. No more long drives to Elk Grove or Vacaville to get gluttonous for suhsi, sashimi, tempura, and the like. We ate here at Fuji Sushi just a week before they have opened. But we beat the crowd and got to our table in just a few minutes. Come hungry, eat boldly. The value is in the different sashimi that they over to your heart's content. Same goes the the Fried Oyster, Soft Shell Crabs, Tempuras, and Hamachi Kama. You can dig in to their endless rolls as well. Honestly, the distinction between the rolls seem negligible. Their okay, but they seem to taste the same to me. Sushi fix Succeeded! One of my favorite fishes is nice to get as AYCE! Hamachi, Albacore, Salmon were the most enjoyable selections they offer. Parking is plentiful and easy to find. The interior is clean and very aesthetic. I love the white theming going on. Noise level is average. The hostess was very welcoming and kind. As first timers we felt very welcomed. Shrimp tempura (5/5): super crispy and crunchy. Grilled salmon teriyaki (5/5): seasoned perfectly. So warm and crispy. Titanic (5/5): got a little kick to it. The rice was chewy and soft. Really good flavor and texture. Sesame balls (5/5): if you got the room definitely get an order. The balls are small and oh so crispy. The warmth makes it that much more delicious and the paste inside is perfectly balanced with the chewy interior. The food was delicious. Customer service is pretty good. For the most part we got the food we ordered but didn't receive the desserts we ordered and we had to reorder. Overall Fuji Sushi Buffet is a great place for all you can eat sushi. The sushi here are all served warm which in my opinion makes it taste all the better. The employees are all really nice and efficient. I would definitely come back here. This is my favorite sushi buffet! It really completes my sushi and sashimi cravings! The service is great as there are folks with carts to clean and clear plates in your dining space. Only pet peeve are patrons that don't pay attention to line foot stickers on the floor to place orders at the order counter for sushi. You will have to fall in line if your sushi is not already pre-prepared and ready for grabs on the counter, (i.e. handrolls, sashimi). Not a big deal, but during our last visit, they did not have salmon collar and mentioned selling out, but they literally just opened for business. I've found it hard to dine anywhere else when I want sushi! If you love sushi and sashimi, this place will not disappoint. Our son finds grabbing food off the conveyer belt very fun! Since it was a Sat we were charged weekend price so it was $32.99 a person. But man.. was it worthwhile! Ambiance - it was a basic set up. No grill because it is all about the food. For the price, you get to eat as much as you want and get to pick from the conveyor belt, order from the menu. We had a huge sashimi plate plus a ton of sushi, soft shell crab. We had a lot of great memories of the Vacaville location, but hadn't been in years so we were looking forward to it. Service: The host at the front was warm and friendly. After that, we had a pretty lukewarm experience. We were seated at the bar area and didn't seem to have a dedicated server so we were flagging people down for appetizers, drinks, then dessert. We also had a difficult time placing orders with the workers behind the counter. The server assistants were very good about clearing plates though. Food: I guess my memories of Fuji's was from the young adult perspective when I was impressed with quantity not quality. Although the price for AYCE was somewhat reasonable for dinner at $31/person, the food was just okay. The quality was like ready made sushi from a grocery store and presentation for some of their specialty items weren't the greatest. My husband loves sushi so he was super excited when I surprised him with dinner at Fuji sushi buffet. I added our name to the waitlist via Yelp and checked in with the host when we got there. Our name was called quickly after we arrived and checked in. They offered us table or at the bar and we opted for the bar and I'd definitely recommend sitting up there if you're a small group as you can just grab from the convayerbelt at your seat and don't have to wait in line for those in addition to rolls you order. On the weekend for adults its $30 all you can eat with a 90 minute time limit and beverages cost separate. A server takes your drink orders and anything on the front of the menu like gyoza, salads, soup, edamame, etc. They also come around throughout the meal to remove the plates and lids of dishes you've completed. On the conveyer belt came small three pieces of rolls, nigiri, octopus, orange slices, etc. At the center of the conveyer belt is an opening where you can order specific rolls or sashimi. At this area they also have rolls ready to take. Our favorites were the spicy seared tuna, golden roll, sashimi, and gyoza. The fish felt fresh and decent quality. Not the best sushi we've ever had but for the price point we'll definitely be back! read more

For AYCE sushi this is one of the better places I've been to. The service was mediocre and it looked like they only had a couple of servers taking orders for appetizers. My suggestion would be to look at the menu and order everything you want/need the first time. It was super hard to get our waitress' attention. As for the sushi itself, it was pretty good. We ordered a lot of the sashimi and liked how there were diff. size plates to choose from (small, medium, large). First time at Fuji! Super easy to find parking since there's a big lot. Arrived on a Sunday just past opening at 5. For a table for 4, it took 1 hr and 30 minutes for us to get seated. $30 for AYCE is hard to come by, but you get what you pay for. There is not much variation. There are pre-made rolls that you can grab, but I was personally not comfortable taking those. They were placed at face level where people would be ordering so I didn't want to take the risk in case people would wear their mask incorrectly (there were a few) standing so closely to those rolls. Fried Oysters (5/5): Absolutely delicious, not too much batter so you can actually taste the oyster being the star of the show. Sashimi (4/5): You can order small, medium, or large sized plates of sashimi. There was one man who was in charge of servicing and was working constantly for the whole dinner service (he deserves a raise). Sashimi was pretty decent, some pieces were a bit extra cold and even icy but I did not mind. I wanted to try the ikura (salmon roe) but they were out. Come early, and I mean BEFORE they open, if you hate waiting. This place was very popular with most tables being families. Our wait was a little longer than the estimated wait time. The staff here are very kind and attentive. I enjoyed my experience here but there are some things that still need ironing out since they're still new. read more

How exciting Fuji has finally opened in Concord! I've been to the Vacaville location and I must say I enjoyed this location better. The rolls and sushi's quality seems to be better. Parking will not be a problem. It is inside a plaza and there are plenty of parking spaces. Lunch is $21.99 and dinner is $28.99. It can get pretty busy so get there early or during lunch time or join the Yelp waiting list. They are new and service can be a bit slow but they just opened and the servers are nice. Just be patient. They have a good variety of rolls to chose from, you can also custom some of them and order appetizers. Everything is included except for the drinks! I love the sear salmon. Oh man, a Fuji Sushi buffet has opened up so close to me. I have been to all three of their other locations in Davis (sad that is shut down), Elk Grove, and Vacaville. I find it quite amusing though that their menu is from their Vacaville location. They are still in a soft opening state, but the menu feels the same as it did in Vacaville. The wait time was not too bad, about 10 min when my party arrived at 11:00 AM. You can order your appetizers through your server while everything else can be ordered with the chefs in the middle of the rotating belt. The sushi still tastes the same as I remember back in Vacaville. My favorite is the Davis Roll, since it's my shrimp tempura roll with imitation crab and a slice of salmon sashimi on top with sauce. The price of the buffet right now is $21.99 a person for lunch, and I don't know what is different between this and the dinner menu. Overall, this place brings back memories and I look forward to coming back again and again. read more

If you left it on the stand long enough it would just plop over. I didn't like The Man hand which was filled with tough little shrimps. The spider and the unagi hand were okay. What we ordered: Salmon sashimi - meh Tako - Chewy Hamachi kama - one of the better items Sake kama - friend said this was bad so I did not dare try Special spicy seared salmon - drenched in the special sauce which the lion king desperately needed Special jalapeño hamachi - meh Lion king roll - the salmon was dry AF and the sauce was missing All the fried items were overly battered and looked all the same. Came here on a busy Saturday night approximately an hour and a half prior to closing. We had a party of 14 people so we were scared about the wait but luckily it didnt take too long as we called to check ahead of time. They didn't reserve our table but they just gave us an estimate. We arrived there and were seated within 15 minutes. Ordering was easy. You can just grab items from the counter and order appetizers through your server. Overall, the sushi was okay. Nothing mind blowing but that's not typically what I expect from AYCE sushi places. The rolls were filled with rice per usual as well so best to order sashimi or let them know that you want a smaller portion of rice. Service was kind and friendly and attentive. My favorite from our orders was the hamachi kama for sure. Since I don't live around the area, i probably won't be returning anytime soon but the experience wasn't too bad overall. read more

I'm back with an updated review, so me and my boyfriend came by yesterday/last night. And everything was fine, food was great. Service was good as usual. Ambiance fine. Although after maybe a few hours after we left. He started to feel nauseous, and surely Im going to call the restaurant as soon as they open. Because I would really like to ask some questions about their food. Because my partner actually got food poisoning from this place. And honestly we rarely go out to eat sushi, sushi is more of a once a month kinda thing. My partner told me he didn't feel good and threw up green. GREEN. I told him he should call 911, he told me he is going to try to sleep it off and if it gets worse he'd call 911. Ive seen some nasty reviews on here as well. And I really do think some of the food may be contaminated. Or not even sushi grade sashimi. So I think I'm going to ask the restaurant for compensation when I get the chance because this could have been fatal. We are not coming here again most likely. I like that you have the revolving conveyor sushi and the chef behind the conveyor belt. This allows you to get your quick sushi bite while waiting for your order :) The standard hand rolls sushi are all made fresh and you can just easily grab them! The drinks is not included on the buffet price and they only have oranges and fried banana for desserts... no other choices or I would have given them a 5 star.
