First time at this location. The good: - aburi salmon sushi - this was delicious! A light sear to the salmon along with a balance of rice and sauce. - hamachi kama and sake kama - these were both the best if you don't mind needing to do some work compared to the sashimi or sushi. I add a few orders of these and was very satisfied with my meal. - hamachi and binnaga (albacore) sashimi were tasty [in comparison to tuna and salmon] - the sesame balls and fried banana were surprising delicious. Sesame ball outer layer was soft, while the fried banana made with bananas that was just the right ripeness. The not so good: - overall the quality of the tuna and salmon were so so. They were lean and so wasn't was tender and flavorful as tuna and salmon with good alternating layers of fish fat. The tuna sashimi that I ate also had some frozen taste to it. - the lion king roll was off and so we didn't eat any beyond one plate of that. - soft shell crab could have been better with a less thick batter layer to it. Nice little AYCE (in 90 minutes) sushi bar across from the Veranda in Concord. Make sure you make reservations because the place does fill up quick, and it is rather small inside. We arrived when the place first opened, so we only had to wait a few minutes while the staff got everything finalized. There were a few prepared items on the conveyor, such as salmon nigiri pieces and a few different rolls. People were grabbing them until they that you just go up to the chefs and tell them exactly what you want. I think the best deal is definitely their sashimi platter. You could order it S/M/L, with either all the same fish, or you could do a combo. Either way, considering that would be about a $30 plate at most sushi bars, $30 was the per-person price for the whole experience, minus drinks which were separate. Our bill came to about $75 for 2 people. It may or may not sound pricey to some. But to me, considering the quality and quantity of their selections, I'd say it was a pretty good deal. I don't know if this was supposed to mimic sushi boat cause there's also a Fuji sushi in Vacaville. There used to be one in Davis, which I closely remember an associate with the name but it's definitely not the same. Most things are self serve where you grab what you want it comes in a conveyor belt. There's a lot of tables, but they're especially as a bar that can be really hard to get seated at. The food was pretty good but I wouldn't say it's the best sushi in the world, the fish to rice ratio can be a little off. Definitely a good deal for AYCE sushi! DRINKS NOT INCLUDED. Their sushi rolls were good compared to a lot of other sushi spots and buffets. Their rice isn't dry or soggy, just perfect! Flavor isn't bad either! We ordered salmon, hamachi, tuna, albacore, and tako. Our favorite was the salmon and hamachi! There are some sushi rolls ready at the counter and side dishes on the conveyor belt for people to grab. Although there is a line to order sashimi, the line went by pretty quick. Once you ordered, you can just stand there and wait and they will serve you pretty quick. We also ordered hot Sake but I don't recommend because it's water down for my opinion. *remember to make reservations ahead of time because the line can get pack especially during the weekends/holidays! I've been here a few times now and it's pretty good for AYCE sushi. They have pre-made rolls that you can grab from the ordering station, as well as a conveyor belt. Hot items are ordered with your server, and everything else is ordered at the sushi bar. Service is usually very quick and efficient. Lots of parties will check in on the ipad system before Fuji even opens. Cons- the last time I came, all the rolls had a lot more rice than previous visits. It's about an hour to an hour and a half drive for me depending on traffic, but honestly, I don't even mind making the trip. For the price, the AYCE is really solid. great variety, good quality, and definitely worth it if you're trying to get your money's worth. The only downside is how busy it gets. There's almost always a crowd, so if you don't have a reservation, expect to wait for a table. But even with that, it's still a spot I'd keep coming back to. read more

The ready to go rolls are totally fine, but the real move is saving room for the sashimi :P Head straight for the sashimi line. If AYCE sushi is your jam then give Fuji a try. What we didn't like was the quality of the fish as it's previously frozen. Very evident in the tuna sashimi. Appetizers are mostly fried items. Our waiter suggests the hamachi collar which others have had positive thoughts but not me. It was overcooked and bland. I like that there are a many rolls already plated so you can serve yourself and when you want the special rolls, they are made pretty fast. My one favorite dish was the smoked salmon. The fish quality is so-so. Quantity is extremely generous. The wait took longer than the estimated. Once seated, there's a separate line to order sushi. That line is not in the best location especially when it gets crowded. They should have table numbers so they can just drop it off at your table instead of having folks crowd around the center. There's also pre-made sushi in the center, but you have other people just grabbing them and it does not look sanitary... $33/person for dinner over the weekend is a bargain, but I think I'd prefer a place with less chaos and more cleanliness. read more

This is the best sushi buffet in the Bay Area. It's nothing compared to sushi buffets in Las Vegas, but it gets the job done. If you want an amazing sushi buffet experience, check out Sakana in Las Vegas. Lunch here is $24.99 Monday - Friday. Dinner is $31.99, and weekends and holidays. Children under two years old eat free. If your child is three years old and over they charge $1.75 - $2.00 per year of age. The sushi quality here is decent. I would rather come here than Kura Revolving Sushi. If you've been to Kura, the fish here is way better. Everything I tried here was good, but one thing I keep ordering over and over is Hamachi Kama. If you've never had Hamachi kama you're in for a treat. It's Yellowtail collar bone that's grilled. The collarbone still has a lot of meat and it's soft and buttery. When you go to a Japanese restaurant, Hamachi kama is sold as an appetizer for around $13-$16. So when I come here I order at least three Hamachi kama because I like it that much. read more

I grew up going to the OG Fuji in Davis. Then Vacaville's location opened, and we frequented over there. Now that Concord location is open, worked out all the kinks of being new and is closer to home, it's one of our go-to spots for sushi. Japanese cuisine is my favorite and while this isn't necessarily top tier quality/authentic, it's pretty damn good for the price -- AYCE sushi buffet. Some days are better than others, but there's never been a bad day. The rolls are great and I love that I can enjoy as much sashimi as I want. The apps menu is pretty great too. The servers are attentive and it doesn't seem to get too crowded at this location. The wait to get seated seemed a bit long, at least to me and our kiddo, but my husband didn't think it was too bad. I originally ordered some shrimp tempura and white rice off the appetizer menu. My husband ordered some soft shelled crab, edemame, and some miso. Then he went up to the end of the counter to get some rolls for our child and himself. I then went to get some avocado rolls. I also ordered 2 more times off the appetizer menu and tried the gyoza. It is my favorite thing there, personally, and I never thought I'd say that. Usually, I prefer and love shrimp tempura, but the filling inside the gyoza was soft and savory, not too overpowering, cooked well... Had a craving for sushi, liked the place on the all you can eat model and decided to try it. You can sign up for wait list here on Yelp app! We waited around 10 minutes it wasn't too bad. There's a couple seating modalities, table or bar side. If you seat bar side there are a few things in a belt such as seaweed salad and other appetizers. You can also order warm appetizers from the waiting staff, very friendly folks. There is also a window to pick up pre made rolls, or can ask chefs to make something on the menu for you!
