Great food ! This place is our goto for Thai cuisine and we've never been disappointed ever. The crab Rangoon is our all time favorite.

Half Thai, Half Sushi, half good... The restaurant is casual and comfortable, but that is where my enjoyment ended. I stopped in for a quick lunch, and left thinking about everything I didn't love about my experience at Fuji Thai. I ordered the Ginger Chicken lunch special, which included a few options. The ones I chose were a fresh greens salad and some Tom Yum soup. After I ordered, nothing came out for about 10 minutes, but then, everything came out. I don't like being served salad, soup, and my entree all at the same time, and I imagine most people agree. As far as the food itself, the salad was very basic, with some Japanese style ginger dressing slopped carelessly on top. It was also served in a small bowl, that made mixing it neatly very difficult. The soup had big vegetables in it, and lacked flavor. The tofu was also extra firm, which really didn't work well in a soup. The Ginger chicken was swimming in sauce, which was quite unappealing to the eye. The flavor was nice enough, but there really isn't a reason to serve a dish bathing in sauce. I love sushi, and try not to eat it at places that don't boast high quality and high enough volume to ensure it's fresh. I don't have interest in trying the sushi here, and probably will look elsewhere for Thai n the suburbs. read more

My current favorite sushi place! Great place to stop in for lunch. Fuji Thai is one of my group's regular places. It's within ten minutes from the office, and we're usually back out in 30-45 minutes. The lunch specials are reasonably priced, and there's a good selection available. Sometimes my group will order two or three sushi rolls for the table. Many of the rolls are under 10 dollars. The place gets crowded for lunch around noon, so getting there between 11:30-11:45 to beat the crowd. read more

Service was poor and food was cold, old and tasteless. The Thai dishes we had were watered down and you can tell it was just reheated. Sushi was definitely not fresh and my standard of fresh is not very high given that we live in the midwest. There are a handful of Thai places in the area that fair better than Fuji Thai - I would never return to this restaurant. read more

Well I stumbled upon this place and turned out to be really good Thai food. I got Chicken Gyozas and Thai Green Currey and oh their plum wine..slurrp. The place is decently priced. Nothing too expensive. One thing I felt was their rice portions we're quite small. Service was pretty good too. We went for lunch over a non busy weekend. They seem to have a full bar and Sake on the menu so might give that a try next time Been here only once, can go back again. They have sushi too, there is quite a bit of a variety. My wife's favorite place. Sushi is great. Atmosphere is excellent. She goes there for girls night and they love it. I love pad Thai but prefer it sweet. Like others said, it is more smoky here. Sushi and pad Thai is perfect combination. Just need it to be sweeter. read more

I'm huge on sushi--as seen in my past reviews, and this place is extremely disappointing. It's very convenient for a quick pick up since it is so close to home, but the sushi has no taste. I've dined in and carried out and I'm just not impressed. Their sushi is expensive, so i would think it would be a high grade fish, The quality of the fish is clearly not there. read more

I ordered from here many times over the past several years because I live close by. The food was amazing years ago but now it's just pretty good which is what brings me back time to time. But they give you tiny portions of rice and forget to pack hot sauce even when you ask for it. I'm not sure how it is when you eat in but when you order carryout, for some reason they are always delayed. We ordered online an hour ago, and when we got there it was still not ready which was unfortunate because we were very tight on time (hence the amount of notice given for the order). In these small yet consistent ways, they keep disappointing. I prefer their food over Siam Siam but it's hard to give love to a place run this poorly. Get it together Fuji Thai! read more

Although I went here for dinner on Friday, I've also eaten here for lunch and it's a great quick spot for both when you are craving some Japanese or Thai food. On lunch it does tend to get pretty crowded but you don't always have to eat here. They have a little bit of everything from cooked rolls, amazing signature rolls, Thai dishes and of course sashimi. The sashimi is always fresh and they have a good selection. It's also priced pretty standard for the area. If you aren't sure about what to get, they do have a sashimi chef selection which comes with 12 pieces of the more common selections which was good. I ended up adding two pieces of Octopus to it which was phenomenal. read more

Shame on me for choosing to go here. No good can ever come out of a restaurant that offers two different genres of food choices, Japanese and Thai...two completely different worlds! I mean, would you ever walk into a Greek/Spanish restaurant? Me thinks not, so why then did I choose to go here? I was lazy was the answer; it was cold, rush hour, and I had lots of work to do..so there..you have my excuse. however, nothing can excuse the quality of this food. My wife and I decided to order some rolls along with some Thai food. We order the paparazzi roll and the Awesome roll. Now one would think that with a name like that, it would be awesome (that and the price of this roll at $9+). I couldn't be further from the truth. What came was a roll no bigger than your typical spicy salmon roll for $6 and with less fish. Presentation was poor and the knife was dull so you could see the jagged cuts on the sushi. The Paparazzi had a little more rice to it, but still not worth it. We also ordered a pad Thai and penang curry...hmmm..one of the simplest things to make for a Thai restaurant, yet why did my sushi come out faster than the Thai food? It took nearly 40 minutes for our food to come out!! AND the food was neither good nor bad..just somewhere in the edible range. Sigh..a pox on me for choosing this place. The moral of the story folks is that there's a reason why good restaurants are typically the ones that offer one style of food...not two. Therefore, my one advice to this restaurant..be Fuji or be Thai..but please don't be both. So until I see a change on your restaurant sign, I am not going to be giving you any more of my hard earned cash for mediocrity. read more

I waited a long time for this place to open; it was originally Sushi Thai II, the first restaurant being in Libertyville. However, the name has changed and it is now officially Fuji Thai. I stopped here with my daughter after camp the other day. They have a great happy hour special...1/2 price sushi rolls from 4:30-5:30, M-W! A few caveats though-dine in only, no coupons and you have to finish...can't bring home any leftovers! Very popular, I didn't expect so many people to show up at 4:30 when they reopened (they close after lunch at 3 pm) We were the first to arrive and within minutes they were packed. The space itself is very cozy and inviting. I loved the exposed brick and the yellow ochre walls. We weren't there long enough to check out the bathrooms but I'm sure they were swanky. Service was friendly and quick. My daughter had miso soup and an eel roll; I had basil fried rice with chicken. Everything was delicious, I will definitely be going back here. I work less than 1/4 mile away so it's a sure bet. They have a lunch special but it's a little pricey at $10.95 and you have to eat-in...no carry out on the special :( I'll be seeing you soon Fuji Thai! YUM! read more

Fuji Thai is an exceptional restaurant! As usual, with most Thai places, the prices aren't the lowest, but the quality in food definitely makes up for that. I can only review what I had, so the chicken curry was delicious and flavorful. The sushi rolls that I had, I do not recall which ones I had, but they were filled with fresh ingredients. Lastly, I had the fuji fried rice, and it was simply put together, yet was very flavorful which is always good! A simple yet appealing meal that has hidden potential. Service was great! Friendly workers, it does get really busy at this location during peak times from midday lunch breaks and dinnertime dine-ins so expect some time. This place is meant meant for those in a hurry. The selection of food was insane for such a small looking sized restaurant! I was amazed honestly. The drink selections was wide as well. Overall, this restaurant showed great potential, awesome customer service, fresh food, and its cleanliness was just squeaky clean. A must go for those who have not gone and this place is most definitely on my "go back again" list! read more

So so so impressed. Can't say enough great things about this place! Their sushi was extremely fresh and tasty. We tried three different rolls, all had great sauces and toppings, potstickers, miso soup, and chicken pad thai. The pad thai was out of this world and plated so nicely too. I will definitely recommend too anyone. I will be going back very soon! Good prices as well! I thought we were going to have to pay an arm and a leg, but was so happy with their sushi and entree prices. Everything came hot and fresh too. I don't leave reviews for places I have not visited but this place makes me laugh. My wife wanted me to call and place an order for pick up for us and the kids. No website to view a menu and the lady said they have no email to send me a menu, She said "You come in to look at menu". How do I know what my kids want? I found a menu on a menu site and called to place an order at 4:17PM. When I tried to place an order she said. "we on lunch, call back 4:30." Really? Just ordered satay, and mango sticky rice among other items. The rice was a solid square of over a day old mass. Got here right after they opened and they were ready for me. Sat outside on a beautiful late afternoon. I was so excited to learn there is no fish sauce in their pad Thai. There were a few delicious sounding vegetarian meals. My pad Thai with tofu was good. Not outstanding but definitely worth another visit. Staff was nice and service was very good. read more

Where do I begin? They have awesome smoky pad thai for the unbeatable price of $7. They have decent sushi, and their half-off happy hour makes it worthwhile. The place is small but well-furnished and maintained. Their egg rolls are to die for. The only reason I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 is because their miso soup is a little disappointing. Since my last review in July of last year, we have been back numerous of times and I have to say that the quality of the food has improved more so than ever before! I've gotten the Chicken Teriyaki dinner combo a couple of times and I wanted to point out how great of a deal it is because for only $21.95, you get so much food! It comes with a choice of a salad or soup and Fuji Thai makes really yummy green salads, 3 pieces of sushi, 6 pieces of sashimi (Chef's selected) and a California roll, and finally the Chicken Teriyaki and rice. Their sushi/sashimi is delicious and fresh, and I never had a bad experience with the rolls either. Either dining in, or taking out, I am always happy with the food and service. It's an alright spot. I have only taken carryout from here but they do have a nice seating area. The Tom Yum soup was one of the worst I have had, it literally just tasted like store bought chicken broth with half cooked veggies tossed in. I did enjoy their pad thai. The pad woon sen is ok but tastes like something is missing. The pad thai woon sen was decent but i have no frame of reference for that yet. They are fairly close to us so i may give them a couple more tries for other things on the menu, but I don't plan on going out of my way or recommending it. But hell, what do I know. SEE MY ETA: 8/25/10 Monday night the task of conjuring up dinner for Girlfriend and I fell in my hands. So, we had two options. Order out, or eat cereal. I decided some pad thai sounded better than Honey Bunches of Oats and gave Fuji Thai a call. I ordered the California Maki and the Pad Thai and they told me it would take around 45 minutes to arrive which seemed a little long for thai food but they did sound really busy in the background. The food arrived in 45 minutes so at least they gave me an accurate time quote. I wasn't impressed with the California roll at all. It seemed more rice than anything, and the crab did not taste fresh at all. The Pad Thai was a little better than the sushi, but not by much. The taste was OK but I thought the noodles were a little dry and the sauce was not as flavorful as some others I have had. The tofu was good, cooked well - wish they would have put more in there! Will I revisit? Maybe, if I am once again struck with thai food craving after I've had a few and don't want to leave the house. However, if I have the option to go elsewhere I would before calling Fuji again. 8/25/10. Okay, I had a few. I was craving thai. Not only did the delivery person remember me, but they gave me a free sushi roll! They go up 2 stars just for that. The spicy crab roll is SO much better than the california roll. Also, I opted for Woonsen Pad Thai this time and it was much better than the Pad Thai. I love this place. Mon-Wed 4:30-5:30 is half-price sushi (not the full sushi menu but a LOT of choices) Every roll I've had has been fresh, soft, and delicious. Their tempura is amazing and I've always received it hot. The regular sauces like eel and teriyaki are great, and their special house sauces are unique and just as good. The sushi menu is long and has plenty to offer for under and over $10. The Saki is smooth and fairly priced. The Fuji Fried Rice is excellent with choice of veggies, tofu or chicken. You can sub in beef or shrimp for $2 and $4 more (way too much IMO). I also like the Pad Thai here, but it's nothing spectacular, just good. I've had edemame several times and recently the egg rolls. I don't recommend either. They're both very plain. The website is well designed, you can order online, and they have delivery with a $3 charge and only a $10 minimum order. The place is small, but I've never had to wait to get a table, even on a Saturday night. I very much like the decor and the dark cherry oak chairs and tables. read more

Went on a Friday night around 8:30 after the baby went to bed, and the place was about 2/3 full. We were seated right away by a no-nonsense hostess who also turned out to be our server. The ambiance is very nice - modern yet classic, with cool lighting and exposed bricks and ducts, but dark wood and a nice albeit small sushi bar area. The portions are large which makes up for the somewhat higher-end prices for a little Thai place. We had summer rolls (perfectly refreshing, a lovely starter), the BG sushi rolls, Pad Thai, and the garlic pepper chicken. My favorite was the latter but I'd get any of them again. Can't wait to try out all their good-looking sushi we saw pass by us when I'm not pregnant! So glad we tried this place and we can't wait to go back. read more

Great Thai and Sushi restaurant. We had Thai on a Saturday night, but I look forward to enjoying some katsu and sushi on my next visit! Great menu, enough room to be comfortable, well appointed small restaurant. Fast service, the food was on our table before we were done with our appetizer. We started with the satay, which is very gingery and amazing. I had the thin noodle shrimp salad, which was delish, and he had the cashew tofu and rice. Very pleased with our order and portions. They forgot we ordered dessert and gave us the check, so we reminded them. That's why it's one star short of five. read more

Disorganized, poor service, average to poor food and these are the positive points. Ordered some green tea when we sat down. If you held it up to the light you could see a faint yellow to it. Otherwise it tasted like plain hot water. We asked for it to be replaced and it came back with a little more yellow to it but still tasted like plain water. Green tea that's yellow, seriously? Ordered the miso soup. It arrived luke warm. For the entree I had the Unagi Don (bbq eel), it was barely warm and uninspiring. Now it gets worse, all of this arrived before my wife even got her appetizer. Her dinner arrived after I was done! Her pad Thai when she finally got it was good, which saved them a 1 star rating. Now for the service. It seemed like the two waitresses that were working have never waited on tables before. They truly seemed confused and unconcerned. They have the best crab rangoon that I have ever tasted. They don't skimp on the cheese, and they also use real crab. The sushi was fresh and very flavorful. All the Thai dishes we tried were fresh, flavorful, and had no MSG. It's a family owned place staffed by the owners themselves. The day we went one of the owners was cooking all the dishes and the other owner was waiting the tables. They were very friendly and attentive. I definitely recommend a visit if you are in the area. read more
