Yet another great gamble that a good foodie friend chose since I had already been to other nearby places that we narrowed down for dining options before a movie at the AMC Burbank 16 (just a few minutes of walking away). Cool & chill, but not completely "lazy bum" vibes. Like, don't come in wearing your pajamas. You could, but why would you do that? I appreciate the darker ambience lit up by the rather groovy neon + purple & dark blue lights. A great, chill date spot, or a relaxed restaurant for sushi aficionados. The fish is incredibly fresh. I especially like that they have a number of selections that I have never seen at other similar style upper-class sushi restaurants. An unexpected pleasant bonus is that a beer is included for only $1 when you order a bottle of Soju. Do yourself a favor: make sure to get rolls that include a variety of fish. Don't get similar rolls with the same protein. Snow Crab Cut Roll - 9.0 / 10 Baked real snow crab = inside Wrapped with soybean paper, house special bake sauce. You have to give major props when a sushi restaurant includes a roll with *real* snow crab legs. None of that fake crab stick / surimi. I wish more places could include real snow crab. The soybean paper is always a nice alternative to the more traditional seaweed wrapper. Forbidden Roll - 8.9 / 10 Shrimp tempura, spicy tuna, cucumber = Inside Topped with fresh salmon, crunch flakes, crab meat, eel sauce, & spicy mayo. If you were only going to get 1 sushi roll, it should be this one. It has the most variety of proteins in 1, single roll. It's not chaotic where the flavors & textures don't make sense. It works & I would gladly get this roll again. Salmon Spicy Scallop - 7.5 / 10 Spicy Scallop = inside Topped with fresh salmon. If you like scallops & salmon, this is a solid choice. Fresh Heaven - 5.7 / 10 3 Assorted fresh fish, crab meat, gobo, radish, + avocado = inside. Wrapped w/ cucumber, oriental goma sauce. The most aesthetically beautiful dish that we ordered, especially with the cucumber garnish + lovely flower. It's nice to know that cucumber can be used to wrap sushi. But it throws off the texture. Maybe it I was on a stricter diet, I may opt for a cucumber-wrapped roll. The fish was incredibly fish. Huge shout-out to Sydney P. + Charles for their warm + personable hospitality. I would happily come back because of Fujiya's unique sushi rolls, but the staff's personality is such a winner. They're truly welcoming & take great pride + pleasure in what they do. I don't blame them. Fujiya is a cool, hip, & swanky (in the best possible way) Izakaya, but it's also not pretentious. I'm giving this place a 4/5 because the keto rolls were so good!!! I ordered the orange blossom and miso soup and it was very delicious! It's rare when Japanese restaurants have keto roll options. It was very fresh and good! The miso soup was very good and not too salty either!! They don't have brown rice so just FYI! The service was not that great !! Our server Dodge was very nice but did take a while to come back to table and forgot our ice. However, our order was correct and the hostess was very nice. The ambiance was really nice and very cute inside I did love the decor!! Cute colors and bright! In downtown Burbank, but parking garage available and street parking. My boyfriend introduced me to Fujiya, and this was my first time visiting and dining there with him. I absolutely loved it! The sushi was fresh and delicious, but my favorite was the salmon collar. I've had salmon collar at many places before, but this one was exceptional. I don't know what they put in it, but the flavor was amazing, especially dipped in the ponzu sauce. The ambiance was beautiful, with cherry blossom decorations throughout the restaurant, blossom stickers, and soft pink-toned dim lighting that created a warm and cozy atmosphere. It made the whole dining experience feel even more special. Friendly service, great food, and a wonderful first experience. I'll definitely be back! Too bad I forgot to take a picture, because the presentation of that sushi looks appetizing. read more

I stumbled into Fujiya and was pleasantly surprised that they were pretty busy at dinnertime. I ended up sitting down and giving them a shot - I am glad I did. The creamy salmon nigiri was absolutely delicious - I highly recommend giving that a shot if you don't mind raw fish with a little sauce and sear. All in all, I would order this again. The chicken teriyaki appetizer was decent. It helped me hit the protein quota for the day, but I wasn't blown away by the sauce or quality. The yaki udon with beef was quite good. A good portion for two to share, but the sauce was a bit heavy and overwhelming. The edamame was good. Typical steamed edamame, no complaints. Service was polite and attentive. Dishes came out quickly enough, The interior is colorful and appealing. Booths are comfortable. Street parking is available outside. Not sure that I will be back here anytime soon, but I'd suggest it to anyone who wants recommendations for a Japanese place with saucey rolls, a variety of dishes, and some familiarity with sashimi and sushi. read more

A very cool sushi place we had seen in downtown Burbank numerous times, and just never tried. So after finding we'd missed the lunch special at another place, we decided to go to Fujiya. They have a lot of the pretty standard menu items, and we were too late to take advantage of some pretty attractive lunch menu options, but we both settled on the Premium Sushi Combination, which includes salad, miso soup, five nigiri (the most popular kinds; salmon, tuna, unagi, etc.), and any one of their signature rolls, for just $25. Check out the pics. Pretty darned good value for the money, even at dinner prices. It would take a few more visits to really get to know the menu, but the options looked pretty standard, with a few gems we just haven't discovered yet. The quality of the food was very good. The fish was all very fresh and flavorful. The miso was standard, and the salad was a basic iceberg with some kind of vinaigrette. If I had a suggestion for the owners it would be to use a fresh spring mix for the salads instead of iceberg, and get away from the rehydrated wasabi powder. It just doesn't pack the punch of a fresh wasabi paste. Our servers were helpful, friendly, and knowledgeable, and the food was delivered quickly and with a very nice presentation. The seating was also very comfortable, with plenty of big screens around showing a variety of programs. One more tip for the management here, the big pink cherry blossom tree blocks the view of the biggest screen to over half the restaurant; maybe another location would be better for the tree. Overall, a great place to go in Burbank for sushi. There's free parking right down the street, and the whole San Fernando Blvd. shopping area within just a couple of minutes' walk. read more

I would recommend these 2 Sake White Peach drinks!!! The margarita version is so yummy, and the sake itself is smooth and easy to drink. The chicken teriyaki itself is so good, and you can see in the pictures that it's full of flavor. This miso is my favorite out of every place I've tried. The salad and the teriyaki dinner plate is filling, you get your monies worth! The waiters are sweet and helped us as soon as we sat down but the food did take a while to come out but the potions are big so as long you don't mind waiting a bit, this place is great and the aesthetic of the place is nice.
