First and most important: the coffee was GOOD! Loved my latte. Others had cold brew, black coffee, those little tiny coffees (not espressos but the other thing) and all ~10 or so of us LOVED what we ordered. Their mission is impressive, roasting their own makes the whole place smell amazing and I hope to learn more about the process and selection next time. Ambiance is cool-you could tell by the crowd its a neighborhood hang because you want to be there, not because you want to be seen there. Easy to find, easy to park. And the taxidermy in the back is super cool. All and all, coffee perfection! read more

I was walking around and decided to see what this place was about. Long story short, I spent almost an hour here chatting with the owner, Michael, who taught me so much about coffee and the roasting process because I was curious. Unfortunately, I can't remember a lot of it atm other than don't stick your coffee in the fridge! I remember that! *high fives self* He's a really awesome guy and I picked up a bag of Guatemalan coffee for about 13 bucks. He was also kind enough to let me try a cup of cherry coffee tea (or coffee cherry tea? Sorry Michael...) and introduced me to aero pressed coffee while we both drank and talked like old buddies. It's not often you come across a place that's just special. Full City Rooster is such a place and Michael is a huge reason why. Simply put, he's awesome. At at time where expertise, attention to detail, and quality seem to be of less and less a value, it's the antithesis of that here and all delivered with exceptional service. He and the vibe are incredibly welcoming to the point where it was difficult to leave. The espresso he made from his in-house roasted Guatemalan beens was easily one of the smoother espressos I've had. I tasted a cappuccino he made and it was delicious too. On our way out, I found myself not able to leave without trying their sipping chocolate. I love a good European style sipping chocolate, yet find it can be hard to find stateside. I couldn't pass up the opportunity and I found it to be the star of the show. It was thick, deep, rich, complex and so very enjoyable to drink. I didn't want it to end. It's the best sipping chocolate I've had in the US, period and I highly recommend giving it a try. My experience here is not one I'll soon forget. The brilliant coffee, stupendous sipping chocolate, excellent service, enriching organic conversation, and wonderfully comforting atmosphere were beyond compare. This is quite possibly one of the coolest coffee shops in Dallas, but I'm torn to let everyone know because the perfection comes in its chill atmosphere and humility. The energy here is just perfect for relaxing or studying or contemplating. Go stare at the wall here, you might solve one of society's great problems. Overall: sweetened iced latte was amazing! This place has a small selection of drinks but the sweetened iced coffee was awesome. They do not offer flavors but that was totally okay. I feel like they like the focus on the coffee. I learned this place was a roasting place only but had opened a cafe about 9mo ago. The space was very chill. They had plenty of seating. This morning was my first visit. My husband (who's a coffee connoisseur) has been twice before and it's by far his favorite place. I was greeted with smiles and asked how I was doing. What an amazing find! I was here for sandwich hag pop up shop and I wouldn't have known about this place if it wasn't for the pop up. I don't make effort looking for places like this but I do appreciate a good find. Checking out the place and I noticed they got a great selection of coffee beans from all over the world. Everybody was so knowledgeable and answered all my questions. It was cold that day so I settled for the hot cherry coffee tea to warm up. It was more tea than coffee and it was the best tea ever. Very fragrant and flavorful. The good thing is it came in a small pot so you can get more hot water. It was better the second time around. I also had the opportunity to try their Vietnamese coffee shave ice drizzle with bourbon. It was very simple and delightful. Very refreshing and it wasn't as strong as Vietnamese coffee which, I enjoyed. read more

Love their lattes! It's so dark yet so rich and creamy. There is an intense nutty flavor to the drink, way better than Starbucks. This place is your go to if you're ever in town and love the darkness of coffee. It's a little more pricer but it's worth it if you want to indulge in your coffee. I'm not trying to quit, I just show up to the meetings...for the coffee. Because it's coffee I'm addicted to. I like my coffee strong and bracing. I get five-shot Americanos, and chug that shit. People often tug on my sleeve and say, "Sir, your phone is vibrating." I say, "My phone is in the car. Now get out of my way, I have to fly to work (flap-flap-flap-flap...)" Sometimes, I'm so wired, I can hear sunshine. My eyeballs hum. Recently a lovely person introduced me to Full City Rooster, which is on South Akard St., south of downtown Dallas. They share a parking lot with Baby Back Shack, but stay focused. This is about coffee. Full City Rooster imports fresh, green coffee beans from all over the world, then roasts them to perfection right there on the premises. Don't believe me? Drop by on Saturday, walk in, and put your eyeballs on a the giant Frankenstein roasting thingie right there in the middle of the place. It's a gleaming floor-to-ceiling Rube Goldberg structure of pure heaven-making. They're not normally open to the public, preferring to sell their coffee beans directly to restaurants around the city, and online. But, they open their doors on Saturdays, allowing people to stroll in and sample the brews, on the house. You can buy a freshly roasted pound of beans, or ground coffee, but samples are free. Me and free coffee = volatile situation. But, I try to behave. Like in church. They have a large table just inside the door, and encourage you to Bring Your Own Brunch, to enjoy with your Saturday morning coffee samples and friends. I've been twice, including an art show for a local artist, and it's one of the coolest social events I've been to, recently. It's like your local coffee shop except it's exceptional. The owner has more than 25 years of experience roasting coffee beans. They control the entire experience from the beans to the grind, to the brewing. And you can buy beans to go for home too. The vibe is very authentic and friendly. This is probably the best coffee shop I've ever been to. Michael had just closed his doors when my friends and I turned the corner and he immediately reopened his doors for us, insisting it wasn't a problem. While he was making us drinks, a group of men came in and he very happily helped them too. Service alone, I've never had such a overwhelmingly positive experience. My boyfriend is generally really picky about coffee after having worked at coffee shops for years but he was so impressed with the quality of his drink. The tea I ordered was also some of the best tea I have ever had. You could tell Michael had a passion for his products and we really enjoyed hanging out in the store chatting with him about their roasting process and coffee. I highly recommend checking this place out. We're from out of town but if we were in the area we would definitely stop by this place regularly. read more

I think that I found my hangout spot in the Cedars. After completely discovering this coffee shop by accident (next to Lee Harvey's), I was kicking myself as to why I didn't discover this place earlier. Great coffee (try the expresso), great conversation with the owner, and a very relaxed venue. My friend and I just arrived in Dallas yesterday to work at one of the local hospitals. We found Full City Rooster right down the road from my friend's AirBnB and decided that's where we wanted to go for our Monday morning cup of Joe. Let me just go ahead and say, we'll be visiting Full City Rooster again. Walking in, we were greeted with a welcoming "Hello" from Johnny and Michael. That's right. Johnny and Michael. We got their names because they were so friendly and welcoming that introductions were made and we felt like we had just made our first friends in Dallas. Johnny and Michael were very helpful and asked what kind of coffee we usually liked to drink and gave us some recommendations. For a non coffee drinker like myself, they recommended a sweet iced latte, which my tastebuds rejoiced over because it was one-hundo. My friend, who is a coffee drinker, got the sweet iced coffee and loved hers as well. We also got some pastries, because who doesn't love pastries, and whoa, tastebuds exploded part 2! All that to say, you should go! They were so kind, the service was great, and the coffee/food was delish! read more

Staying in Dallas for a few days on business. Love to find real deal shops of any kind and Full City Rooster hits all the marks. The aroma of freshly roasting beans hits you halfway down the block. Upon entering the wide open entrance you are instantly relaxed. Mellow vibe, no rush, woodsy artisan decor. I had a chocolate almond croissant and a Guatemalan put over. Both were excellent. I love this place and happy to see its thriving. The owners are so sweet and nice. They are small and local with the exception of online. But the coffee beans you purchase here are very fresh and they want to keep it that way. They don't wanna to sell in bulk to stores knowing it may sit on the shelves for months. They want the coffee beans to be enjoyed within 2-3 weeks of roasting. The owners seem very dedicated and passionate about their work. They traveled all over the world to try out the best tasting coffee beans to bring back. They sometimes have these experience package where you can tour and see how they roast their beans. Right now they're working on their permit to open a coffee shop and serve customers coffee, lattes, espresso etc. maybe have some live music with a large patio in the back too. I am not a coffee drinker but the amazing smell had me drooling from around the corner. We were there mainly to catch up with friends during the Cedars Open Studios Tours and I was not planning on having coffee as I am very sensitive to caffeine. Michael said he could fix me a tea but I had to have a coffee. I went with the iced cold brew with full fat milk (they also had a non dairy option) and sugar. It was amazing even though I could not finish due to the high caffeine content. My friend's latte was beautiful and she loved her savory pastry. I live over 30 minutes away so it will not be a regular jaunt but if I ever start drinking coffee on a regular basis I will defo buy some beans and will be back for some beans before Christmas as gifts. read more

Check out their new drink the 'rare and elusive' coffee cherry tea made from the hulls left after the beans (in this case, from Yemen) are removed. It taste and looks like black tea, has a natural light sweet flavor; I was surprised that it wasn't sweetened. It's has 70% less caffeine than coffee and is "loaded with antioxidants"; healthy stuff! read more
