After hiring him 5 weeks ago to replace 2 trees in our front yard we noticed one wasn't looking great while the other was thriving. Upon further inspection, we discovered the tree was dead and not just died dead like dead dead. The whole tree from top to bottom was as dry as a bone several layers into the trunk along with branches snapping off like nothing. I texted him nicely to go over the situation and he immediately started gaslighting me that I killed the tree. Every single time he would ask me about how I did something. I would tell him, then he would come up with another excuse of why I killed it. He then went by the house to check on it and tried to tell me I over saturated it and that's why it died, but that moisture was from us testing and running the bubblers a few hours before he showed up to see if that's what caused the tree to die. I can assure you a tree doesn't die and dry up completely tip to trunk in 5 weeks. Learn from my mistake, hire the other guy! read more

I can't say more good things about this company and his team. We needed a tree replacement and Kevin Nelson got it replaced for us within days. He not only did an amazing job replacing our tree, but he was communicative and kind. We had a leak near the tree after replacement (that was not his fault) it was due to the sprinkler line being damaged and we just never noticed it and he came to our home the next day and repaired it for us! We were impressed by his communication and care for the work he provides as well as the cost! Months later our tree wasn't looking so hot and obviously this wasn't of his doing but I decided to reach out anyways just to get an idea of what I could do. He not only got right back to me but he walked me through step by step what to do and he even called the nursery he got the tree from to get their insight. He has gone above and beyond for us and I very much appreciate him. Now I see why so many people complain about Nelson Landscaping. I'm sure some of his warriors will come to his defense. And maybe some have had great experiences. Y'all maybe better off with some high schoolers or anyone with integrity doing y'all's mowing. Kevin and his guys pull up to do my neighbors yard- this isn't the first time.. I watch as they blow all the grass into my yard and my driveway. Which wasn't the first time, the first time I said " they're probably busy." Today I learned nope, they are lazy. I went out and told the guy with the blower who doesn't speak English- that's perfect I speak Spanish- he goes and blows the grass from the side walk and my driveway all up into my front door knocking over my statue and pushing my welcome mats all around and just walked away- then Kevin comes out all dumb- saying "if you spoke to me that way I wouldn't listen either". Kevin is our back neighbor, and I agreed to pay 50% for the fence to be fixed between us. He fixed it, and then months later added two more boards on his side with the screws sticking out on my side, some over two inches. I have three kids, two being very clumsy toddlers. I also have three dogs. He is 100% aware of this. Thank God I found them rather than my oldest running in screaming that her little sister had fallen into one. He claims they were the shortest he had, and so it's the dogs don't break down the fence again. He has two Great Danes. My dogs are 30 pounds. I just wanted my flower beds to look nice, but I wish I could go back and hire someone else. - BUYER BEWARE I hired Kevin Nelson (owner) to install a stone border wall for me around my flower beds. We agreed to a design and a price of $650 and he said he would give a 5% discount if I paid in cash, and he scheduled my work to begin in two weeks. Two weeks went by and I had not seen or heard from him, so I texted him to inquire of his whereabouts. He rudely said, "I told you it would be 2 to 4 weeks before I could start." I disagreed with this statement because he had given me an actual start date that was two weeks, but I reluctantly agreed to wait until he could get to me (wish I would have just cancelled at that point). He showed up on a day I was at work and installed the border wall. He texted to inform me that the work was complete and the price was $850. I responded back that we agreed to $650, which was going to be $617.50 with the 5% discount since I was paying cash. He informed me that he needed more materials than anticipated and that the price was $850 firm. I told him I would pay the agreed cash amount of $617.50 and nothing more. He told me I was a "thief" and that he would "come back and tear it out" before he would take anything less than $850. When I got home to inspect the work I was disappointed to see that it was very shoddy work. There was no concrete under the border wall to provide support. The stone work was atrocious. The cap stone was unlevel and poorly aligned and the joints varied widely in width. And perhaps the most egregious mistake was that the walls were not parallel with my sidewalks as we had discussed (it was obvious to the eye and when I measured it with a tape measure it was about 8 inches off). I texted and told him I would not accept the work as it was and that I would not pay him anything until it was completed to my satisfaction. He texted back that I was "just being a b*tch" because I didn't understand that prices go up, and that I needed to "stick to teaching and let the men do the real work." He also said he would sue me if I didn't pay him $850 immediately. I refused and said that just because I was a teacher and a young woman didn't mean I couldn't recognize poor craftsmanship when I saw it, and that I would not pay him anything until it was corrected. He responded, "I'll just come tear it out then and you can pay extra for me to do that." I reiterated that I would not pay anything until the work was completed to my satisfaction. The next day he came while I was at work and tore the border wall down. He took the stone with him but left behind all of the mortar and small chips off the stone in my yard for me to clean up. He then had the audacity to text me saying the new amount was $950 and that I should not contact him for any future work. He still texts me about once a week saying I need to pay the $950. Bottom line...if I were you I wouldn't hire this company to clean my toilets, much less anything else. BUYER BEWARE. Especially if you're a woman. read more

Brand new gate with new posts on either side of it dragged on the ground before it gets fully open, from the day it was installed. Two other posts I had replaced. You cannot even find any concrete poured around them, (I dug down 6"-its not there) just chunks thrown in from the previous posts. My old fence was in bad shape. We hired Kevin to do some landscape lighting, plants, mulch and sprinkler adjustments. I am really pleased with the service we got and the quality of work. Kevin is a very hands on, honest, up front no surprises kind of guy. He really puts pride into his work and it shows. He took the time to walk my property with me and went over every detail of the job. I have a ring doorbell. The first day of the job I was at work and my phone kept alerting me "there is motion at your front door". I was able to watch Kevin and his crew work in my front yard and I could hear their conversations 42 miles away. They busted butt without wasting time. We let Kevin decide on the plants and where to place the lights. With the lights we went with blue and green instead of yellow and white. Kevin did a fantastic job! He added a lot of color with the plants and the lights are fabulous. He even came out in the evening to see the lights when they were on and to make any needed adjustments. He guarantees his work and told me several times if I have any issues at all, i.e. plants dying to just call him. Again I am really pleased with the work he and his crew did. They are friendly, professional, and knowledgeable. I wish I had met Kevin several years ago. Full Nelson Landscapes will be my only go to from this point on and I highly recommend them. read more

Kevin and his team have helped us several times over the past year. They built up the area around our backyard fire pit to include pebble rocks, seating, and strung lights. They have also planted a larger, more mature oak tree in our yard. Today, Kevin came out to remove a shrub that died in the winter storm. He found some new growth and told us it would grow back if we gave it time. He trimmed down the bulk of the dead limbs and hauled them off for us. He saved us the time, trouble, and cost of replacing it. He has been very responsive, friendly, and has provided education to keep our yards healthy and low maintenance. Great for new fences, not so great for repairs I had a fence replaced and they did a terrific job. Even came out to the same day to resolve a couple of minor issues I found (and the owner said he would review those issues with his team as they shouldn't have happened). Great communication and results. As for repairs, they replaced alternating posts on another fence. I couldn't believe how crooked the posts were as compared to the rest of the fence. It is now a zigzag fence in my back yard. I asked about this and was told that for repairs, they just put the post where the hole is from the old post. I didn't expect a plumb line or anything. Just look at it and jackhammer some more concrete out to make it somewhat in line with the other posts. Where the jackhammered hole ends up isn't necessarily the center of where the post was. Now I'm expected to pay to replace those same posts if I get a new fence from them in a few years, so I'm not sure I want to do that. read more

If you want a poor product and excuses Kevin is absolutely your guy. Full Nelson was hired to install a deck (supposedly with a 20 year warranty) and after two months it is sagging due to his lack of construction knowledge. He first started by parking his trailer in our front yard of all places which broke sprinkler heads, I should have stopped the process at that point due to his blatant incompetency but sadly I did not. He then broke siding on our house and said he did not know how to fix it so we have to pay someone else to repair this mistake. Once the deck was finished the outside edge was/is extremely crooked so we had to redesign our railing to match and hide his shoddy work. In addition, he used one screw per deck board so we had various boards peeling up within the week and he had already been paid. After a month the deck had a large protrusion in the top because the deck had sagged and he took a saw and hacked it off at an angle which looks completely amateur matching the rest of his work. When we asked him to come back and remedy the main issue with the massive sagging he said he can maybe get to it in three months. Make sure not to pay him until you have looked over everything well as his tail light warranty will expire once he turns off the street or save yourself the headache and hire a professional. read more

I am docking two stars becuase there were some repairs needed as a result of the work that Kevin was not super easy to work with on. Ultimately, the repairs got done and Kevin reimbursed us for them. I think if Kevin works a little bit harder on his Customer service skills he could go from good to great. read more

We were looking for a way to improve our curb appeal. We had a partial idea of what we wanted done. Kevin helped us develop our vision for improving our curb appeal on a budget. He did a front stone patio with a stone walkway next to the driveway. The walkway and stone patio turned out great. The walkway has a natural flow up to the patio. The patio makes our entrance more welcoming. The stone is beautiful and goes with the stone on the house. I would recommend him for doing stone patio and walkway. read more

I wish I could give zero stars. Years after he installed our fence we found that he buried the pickets on two complete sides of the backyard not leaving a clearance for the water to go thru. With all the rain we have had our yard flooded. All grass ruined, mud everywhere. My husband assessed the issue and had to cut every single picket one inch to allow the water to drain. He replaced our fence 4 years ago and we had issues with his inability to repair some sprinklers his crew damaged, all excuses and he even hanged up the phone on me at the time; and now years later we found out he did this?? He caused my backyard to become a lake? Unfortunately We can't take it to court because years have passed and he can argued it, but nobody has touched our fence since he replaced it and we haven't had such amount of rain until now to noticed this issue. On top of that, all pickets that my husband cut were rotten due to direct contact with the underground soil. Please abstain to hire this guy. We hired him back in the day because our back neighbor pushed his bid and insisted but otherwise We would hire another more professional company. Walked my property to get a bid and was told, we are careful to use non warped, good matls so no need for steel posts and I warranty all my work, so call if any issues, I will fix it. What I was left with is 1/2 my fence has unparallel bracing 2x4s, unlevel 4x4s, cracked pickets, shoddy work that was covered up by rock and told "I won't warranty it because you re-designed the fence", yes, the same fence I walked thru to get the bid! Wont bore you with the excuses about the "wonky" gate. Don't pay until you walk the fence AFTER the work is done. You can get better matls/service for the money. read more

He did a great job estimating materials and following the landscape plan...which included putting mulch and gravel in previously grassed areas and installing a dry stream bed as well as a small raised bed that included mortared limestone blocks. The fences on two sides of my property were falling apart. A friend recommended Kevin Nelson with Full Nelson landscaping. I took a bid from Kevin and a larger company, and Kevin came in way cheaper. Kevin came out in person to give the estimate, and everything was arranged via text and email. Kevin worked around my schedule and the whole thing was surprisingly easy. Kevin and his guys installed about 200 feet of wooden fencing with galvanized posts, and also replaced my rotting wooden steps from my deck with cement. I couldn't have been happier with the work and customer service. Kevin answers text messages, shows up on time, and does what he says he will do. Kevin was up front and honest about his capabilities and the price. I have had so many bad experiences with contractors etc that basic trustworthiness and reliability is very refreshing. I hired Full Nelson landscaping to perform a full wood fence replacement and full yard grass removal and replacement. The work was completed over the span of a couple sessions (due to weather interruptions) in late may and early june. There are two issues in play. In short, the work quality was poor and Kevin intentionally overcharged me by $1,465. 1. The work product was poor which is by far the lesser of the issues. He installed cracked pickets which I fixed myself. The nails he used were too long and stick out through the 2x4 cross beams. He left trash and project scraps all over the yard. The sod was installed with large gaps between the rectangular sections. 2. I share a fence with my next door neighbors. Each neighbor agreed to share the cost of the adjoining fence replacement with me and Kevin Nelson provided an itemized quote for each of those shared sections as I was going to pay him directly and settle with my neighbors separately. This occurred without issue with my neighbor on the right. Without my knowledge, Kevin quoted my neighbor on the left (he did not do this for my neighbor on the right) for the same portion of shared fence. I paid 2,790 and my neighbor on the left, Tom, paid 1,325 for the same portion of fence. Tom assumed that something had changed and that kevin was billing us separately as Tom had some grass replaced as well. When Tom and I talked about settling the bill he informed me of what had happened and was shocked that Kevin had acted so unethically. I tried to work it out with Kevin but he refused to refund the difference of 1,465. My neighbor agrees with my position on the matter and reached out to Kevin in email explaining that he also thought that i was owed the money back. read more

I found Kevin through a facebook recommendation on my neighborhood page. I had been having water pressure problems with my sprinkler system and asked him if I could make an appointment for him to come check it out. He came out after his last job and said "lets see what you did." Like it was my fault that it wasn't working. He tells me to call the city to check my water pressure and if its low he'll come by and turn it up for me. I have the city come out and test the pressure and they said its low. So I messege Kevin back and tell him what the city said. He said "they didnt fix it?" I told him no. He said he would come over on Tuesday, me thinking he was just going to turn a knob for me because I didn't have the correct tools to do so. I thought Kevin would come over around the same time after his other jobs, my first red flag. No appointment set. Kevin comes over Tuesday at 7:00AM and messages me on facebook and says "I am here." I didn't get the message, I was sleeping. At 7:30am Kevin rings my doorbell and I see half my front yard is dug up. He tells my husband that the builder put the pressure regulator valve on backwards. I had an appointment so I had to leave. I came back to even more of my yard dug up, and my husband tells me its going to cost $600. Kevin bought the highest priced pressure regulator valve without discussing with us. I figured what the hell you already have the yard a mess, mud everywhere, not to mention he tells me he came in on his day off...so I felt obligated to just let him finish it. I didn't ask for any special favors, I asked for an appointment. If it was going to cost me $600 I would have shopped around first. Gotten other quotes. Its mid September, my grass is half dead anyways. In less than 2 months and I won't need the sprinklers. I would have waited until next spring to fix. But he finishes and the irrigation system works great! The sprinklers are doing exactly what they need to, and even the pressure inside the house is way better. I venmo him $600, which I should have asked for an itemized receipt...so again lack of professionalism. I confronted Kevin today with my problems with his work, and he gets very defensive and says "if you want your money back then fine, I'll venmo it back to you. " He then blocks me on facebook. Oh, and he never refunded me for the job I didn't ask him to do. Kevin does great work, granted he leaves a huge mess. But make sure you make an appointment and get an itemized receipt. Yes, I am happy my sprinklers work now. BUT not at the price of the $600 for work I didn't approve of before he started digging...Which he says he talked to my husband first, thats a lie we didn't wake up until 30 minutes after he already started working. (And yes I have video of all work done and conversations recorded. So proof can be provided if asked for.) read more

Our neighbor contracted the fence replacement or I would not have used this company. They required payment 2 weeks in advance of starting the job which I thought was odd. We had the other 2 sides of our fence done by another company that I could compare experiences with. They did not cut the posts down before putting on the pickets, they left a mess of cement behind for me to pick up, and there is one picket that was cut too small and looks ridiculous. When they came for their final payment on the same day they finished, I explained my issues, they basically pushed the rocks / cement up against the fence (did not pick up) and did absolutely nothing about the odd picket that was cut crooked. For a $7k job I would expect better workmanship. read more

We had Kevin replace yard with sod and other work in yard. He also said he could fix our water sprinkler system. We bought a new system through him and also paid for a line valve. After a re-repair he said that the system would work and go on vacation. We had a huge water bill when we returned due to a leak.He dug a huge hole and left a shovel and was gone. After a lot of excuses that he was very busy with bigger jobs he came out and capped off another valve. He quickly got in his truck without even testing it.The system did not work at all We have texted and emailed him repeatedly and said he is too busy to fix it and to get somebody else. We have asked him for a refund but we have heard nothing. I also told him I did not want red, orange or yellow flowers in the yard. I wanted purple blue white, maybe pink. This company is amazing! Kevin is easy to work with! He came out to give us a bid within 45 minutes of first contacting him. He gave us prices for galvanized posts and wood posts to let us see all our options. His bid was excellent so we decided to proceed with galvanized posts and cedar pickets, and he put us on his schedule. He was patient as we navigated dealing with neighbors and the HOA. Once everything was squared away, the actual process of demo and rebuilding was painless for us. He and his crew are unbelievably efficient! The did our entire fence (we are a corner lot so we have a lot of fence), built us a new gate, and even did a large section of my neighbors fence in TWO DAYS! We have a dog so it was very nice to have the project completed so quickly. They left my yard perfectly clean, leaving no trace that they were even here. Our new fence looks absolutely incredible, and we are so pleased with how it all came together. His work is SO GOOD that our neighbors in all directions are starting to ask us who did the fence work. I cannot recommend this company enough. We liked working with them so much that we are already planning more projects! Kevin goes above and beyond in caring for his customers. He noticed that a portion of our yard was super lush and swampy so he did a little investigating and discovered that we have a leak in our irrigation system. He is coming out tomorrow to fix it for us! We offhand mentioned that our door to our backyard isn't in great condition so he gave us another reasonable bid on what it would run to fix it for us. We are getting ready to hire him for that project as well. This guy really is a jack of all trades! This is the first time in a very long time that we have hired someone who we really trust to take care of us. He treated us like his own neighbors, and I appreciate knowing that his work AND his customer service are of the highest quality. It made what could be a stressful project simple for us!
