As someone who is not always the biggest fan of Italian food, I was really blown away by Funke - well-deserved hype. Standouts: - We debated whether to start with the focaccia bread and am so glad we did - it was incredibly fluffy inside and left me floating on the perfect herby and olive oil flavor. - The shrimp were big, plump, tender, and came with plenty of flavorful sauce to even dip your bread into. - The pasta absolutely lives up to its Chef's Table reputation. The orecchiette pasta might have been the best pasta I've ever eaten in my life, which includes a trip to Italy. Wow - it was cooked perfectly al dente, with this unique spicy tomato sauce and 'nduja sausage. My partner ordered the tagliatelle and claimed that dish was his favorite. I was also impressed with the ambiance, decor, and service. We sat in one of the booths on the main dining floor facing the open kitchen, and loved watching the team at work. All the waitstaff were so pleasant and attentive, and service was incredibly efficient - our dishes were timed to perfection, and we were not kept waiting at all. The only small hiccup was that our waiter told us that we could have our pasta dishes with the cheese on the side but they did not come out that way - never mind, they tasted great and was worth my lactose intolerance. With our perennial favorite Napa Rose still under renovation, my wife and I decided to give Funke a try and couldn't have asked for a better anniversary dinner! After an outstanding dinner at Felix earlier this year for my birthday, we had high expectations that ended up being far exceeded. While we waited for our booth to be ready, the super friendly bartender made us a Sicilia and Romagna (their house old fashioned) served up by request - both potent yet finely balanced. Our server took some time to get to us as he was absolutely slammed between his assigned tables, so it was very nice to see the manager step in herself to welcome us and guide us through the expansive menu. She brought out a pair of fiori di zucca on the house that impressed us with its delicate batter and hot slightly tangy ricotta within. Per her recommendation, we tried the sfincione palermitano (Sicilian pizzetta) and loved its large air pockets and bold flavors. The amalfitana pizza that followed brought me to completely uncharted territory as I never imagined how harmonious fior di latte and meyer lemon slices (!!) could be on a pie! My wife and I were simply blown away, not to mention the light chew of the thin crust itself was killer. Delving into the pastas, we learned how light and thoroughly enjoyable almond-based pesto trapanese was in their busiate. Flavors became much heartier upon first bite of the pappardelle - the chew was delightful and I was floored by the depth of flavor in the ragu. Lastly, the tonnarelli cacio e pepe's silky pecorino was just as fantastic as the one at Felix. To end, the delicate airiness of our graffe napoletane (vanilla sugar donuts) was beyond ridiculous...like Leonard's malasadas in the sky! How to walk in without a reservation? Stroll in shortly after opening at 5PM on a Tuesday. The team let us know they needed the table back around 7:15PM and we said we'd be okay with them moving us to the bar or whatever would make it easy for them. And we were off to the races. This is a high energy team. Carmine and Cynthia made sure we had a good time...something super easy when you're sharing the restaurant with like 4 other tables at opening. Seeing the kitchen team lined up at the window waiting for the action to start was fun. By 6:30PM, the place was packed and bustling. Worth mentioning is that the menu is pretty similar in the Funke-verse. There are connecting dishes from restaurant to restaurant...the main difference is the style and feel of the dining room. Funke seems to be more fun of the group. We ordered a good portion of the menu. Highlights: sfincione, squash blossoms, limone, orecchiette, sorbet/gelato. There were cocktails, mocktails and wine. Loved the cocktails. The glass of wine was only so so. If I can find my receipt I'd be able to tell you what was ordered. We had a great time. The team could not have been more fun or nicer. There's always a kind of joy when everyone has the same energy. Service was on point. Plates and serviceware changed out frequently and water glasses refilled without prompting. So we got both of the truffle pasta that was like pasta of the day kind of situation which was our mistake since they both tasted the same. Turns out not a truffle guy. We went when the dodgers were in the championship game so not sure if that impacted the place but it was pretty quiet. Even though it's in Beverly Hills and prob a pretentious restaurant it's actually well decorated and is not over the top. Food is pricey and you can prob get something similar elsewhere, some of the items were stellar like the squash blossoms were decliois and the focaccia as well. Upon arrival, the restaurant feels like a dark and sexy hotel restaurant. A Basquiat painting just casually on the wall. Very chic spot. I enjoyed the waiters looking sharp and the branding was on point. I enjoyed the r&b and hiphop that subtly echoed in the background. Price point is high, which was expected for a Beverly Hills spot. At first glance of the menu, it was challenging to read because it felt like the whole thing is in Italian. But the waiter guided us through the menu without fail. They say the pastas are shareable but if you're really hungry, get your own order. The Sicilia cocktail was ok. Tasted like a flat margarita. The Piemonte cocktail was much better. Loved the smokiness of the mezcal. Get the SFINCIONE IN BIANCO; you can't go wrong with warm focaccia bread. I really liked the squash blossoms and the chives mixed in with the cheese. Very yummy. The gem salad was a big portion of arugula but lacked seasoning and was dry. Jon and Vinny's does a great version of this. Pistachio Pesto pasta was solid. Bolognese pasta was ok; lots of beef but a little dry. We got the special of the night which was a tortellini stuffed with pork shoulder, prosciutto and something else. It's very rich and salty. It's good but a few bites is plenty. The panna cotta dessert was so unique and SO good! Tangerines and fennel oddly go together. Yes, we came after watching Chef's Table and so in awe of Chef Funke's pasta creations. With an LA trip planned, we knew we had to dine here and try his beautiful and delicious food! At 9:00 AM on the dot, 7 days in advance I had gone through the reservation booking process. There was a short lull in getting the verification code and after putting in my credit card info, poof, reservations were fully booked and I was left in dismay. But luckily I was able to get rooftop reservations and they serve the same menu! I actually preferred the rooftop as restaurants can get quite noisy and I'm a bit sensitive to that. Well it ended up being a gorgeous sunny day in April and my friend and I were smack dab in the sun with no shade. The staff were helpful in trying to get the umbrellas over us and once the sun set, it was perfect. Our server Max was very attentive and super friendly. We ordered an item off each part of the menu which included the focaccia bread, ricotta stuffed squash blossoms, frisella pugliese, the special pizza which included mushrooms and asparagus, busiate for our pasta dish, and tagliata di manzo. Each item came at a good pace and beautifully curated. The focaccia was nice and crusty plenty of cheese. The squash blossoms were also not overly battered and though it is a rich dish the cheese paired nicely with the focaccia bread. The burrata with veggies and flowers was my favorite dish of the night. As pretty as it tasted. The pesto pasta was also lovely though we thought it might be the one that was featured on Chef's Table and was not, and the pizza was delightful. My first time having morel mushrooms and very yummy. The rib eye was cooked perfectly and the crispy potatoes and rucola paired nicely. I am a panna cotta feen so I had to order the meringata for dessert. With the tangerine granita and meringues it was such a perfect ending to the meal. They also provided a chocolate cake for my birthday and it was decadent and tasty. Came back with the folks to celebrate my dad's birthday. They loved the appetizers - fried artichokes, fried squash blossoms and tuna tartar and the OG bread / focaccia. They Didn't love the bolognese pasta. We all enjoyed the Gnudi di Spinaci - cool and interesting dish - but should be served hot, vs luke warm. The drinks - I settled in the Sauvignon blanc to my surprise. It was lovely. The folks enjoyed their version of Negroni and the Firenze and I liked the Emilia but would not get it again. Ambiance was good. loud, but at very good playlist - like 90's hiphop hits ish. we were inside on the first floor. our server was great a hint of Rami Malek Deserts - the rhubarb tart was worth it and the passionfruit citrus gelato was lovely and filling. The pesto pasta I got last time came out lukewarm warm again. I mentioned it and our server said he will let chef know but nothing happened. Every single dish is fantastic. Top notch. We love carbs so went with pastas and pizzas. I can't remember all the ones we ordered other than the diavola--probably because that was my absolutely favorite! Oh but wait! I just remembered ordering the cicoria salad. Yes. Yes. Amazing. I have been wanting to come to Funke for ages and finally made it, and while it was delicious, I'm not entirely sure I understand the hype. The food was very good, but by no means mind blowing or the best meal I've ever had. I'm glad I went, but there are so many incredible Italian restaurants in LA that I don't necessarily need to be running back. The staff were wonderful and very attentive, and the ambiance was very nice! Bonus points that there was a bar by the host stand while you wait for your table, as well as a rooftop bar if you want to have that vibe! Please don't waste your time and money at a place where customers are not treated with respect. Almost everything on Funke's menu is spicy, and when I politely asked if they could simply avoid adding extra spices, I was firmly told that the chef does not allow any modifications to the dishes. I wasn't asking to change the recipe -- only not to sprinkle black pepper or add lemon. I am a chef myself. I make fresh pasta and many other dishes from scratch, and I truly enjoy visiting other chefs' restaurants to experience their food and learn from them. I had wanted to dine at Funke for a very long time after watching Chef's Table, where the chef shared such a moving and inspiring story about his life. It took me almost a year to finally get a reservation, and my husband surprised me with this special dinner. Unfortunately, I ended up not being able to order anything because every dish was spicy and no small accommodation was possible. This place is a knockout. Had a girls dinner here with a small group and it was phenomenal! We got in a little early and checked in for our reservations. We went upstairs to the rooftop bar, checked it out and grabbed a drink while waiting. We were seated 30 minutes after our specified time but it was ok. Were seated in a booth by the kitchen and got to see the staff in action which was fun. Our waitress and server were amazing. It was a jam packed night, service was up to par. We ordered a bunch of everything to share. Pistachio pesto pasta, truffle pasta, squash blossoms, the bread, margarita pizza, lemon pizza, arancini and tiramisu to end it. Each dish better than the next. Arancini similar to one I ate in Rome. The lemon pizza was recommended from the waitress and I will admit we were skeptical of it. It was SO good. Shockingly good. Third time is not the charm. Been here once a year ago for dinner, it was fine. Been here for drinks and bites at the rooftop, also fine. Then again this week. The food, well it's fine. Nothing amazing. The drinks also fine. The ambiance also fine. A bit luxury but just clean and a good ambiance. The service for me was what was annoying. Everyone was friendly but not sincere. It was an act. The service to introduce us to the restaurant is that the chef is super famous and has a Netflix show. And that everything is delicious. OK fine. I'm over this place. Wasn't feeling entirely hungry but here for dinner, a date and a fun time. The service just felt a bit forced. The food was it good, it was fine. Ordered the squash blossoms, two pastas and two drinks. The pastas just felt very normal. No amazing flavors and not really the freshest or tastiest. It was just fine. Was then also rushed out. Gorgeous decor, nice ambiance, excellent service! I came for dinner on a weekday for 5:15 reservations (they open at 5pm). It started to get crowded at about 6ish. Before I got seated I took a look around on all 3 levels. First 2 levels are indoors and the 3rd level is the rooftop (each level has a bar). The entire restaurant was clean with nice decor. As far as the staff, EVERYONE was very pleasant and very nice with warm smiles. I loved the music selection that played softly in the background. The drink of my choice for the night was verde mare...highly recommend if you like gin. The food was excellent. We ordered family style so we can all try different dishes. The only dish none of us liked (party of 4) was the artichoke. I think if it came with dipping sauce it would have been better. Everything else was absolutely delicious especially the pappardelle and the panzanella salad both filled with so much flavor. Our waiter Carmine (I hope I spelled it correctly) was really nice and very knowledgeable of the menu items and ingredients. He was very helpful! They do have valet parking for $17.... All the dishes we had were incredible. My favorite was one of the desserts which was their take on a panna cotta called a Meringata. To be fair this is from what I hear Shannon Swindle's creation. One of the best desserts I've ever had in my life! The rest of the dishes were right on par with what you would expect from Evan Funke. Perfect. The service was superb and very polite and serviceable, and the dishes were cleared very quickly. Now I live closer to Mother Wolf so I'm there a lot. A lot of this menu seemed to be what I could get at Mother Wolf so our only critique of our experience and night was really just the ambience and the location. We just didn't enjoy the design of the place . The upstairs was very loud. Now that I know there's a rooftop that's supposedly quieter and more serene I might want to try that next time. So overall, yeah, the food was five stars, but I'm giving it four stars because I'm biased to my precious Mother Wolf. Is this like an East side West side thing now? What have I done!? read more

This was my second visit to Funke, and once again, it did not disappoint. You can always count on exceptional service. We started with the focaccia with pomodoro, artichokes, and burrata with spring vegetables--all incredibly fresh and flavorful. The real star of the night, as always, was the pasta. The gnocchi was absolutely perfect--so good that even though we were full, we finished the entire plate. For dessert, we had the strawberry rhubarb tarte with vanilla gelato and sorbet, which was a beautifully balanced combination of tart, sweet, and creamy. Where do I start? I first heard about the restaurant by watching Chef's Table. Now I'm crying for all the wasted years we haven't gone to Funke. We live in Northern California and had a Southern California trip coming up. Our calendar was getting full but we had one evening free. We anxiously awaited for the reservation window to be open for the night we could go and we were fortunate to find ideal reservations. We met our son and his girlfriend at Funke. They braved the two hour drive from Irvine on a Wednesday night. We were a little early for our reservation which was fine because it gave us a little time to walk around a few blocks away to Erewhon. When we returned for our reservation, a lady was making pasta in the glass room. I regret not taking her photo. We spied Chef Funke as he walked through the dining room to the kitchen. (Fan girl moment). We were seated at a table upstairs at around the time of our reservation. It was relatively loud and fairly dark in the dining room. It was very busy. We were greeted by several people upon sitting at our table. Our server was Max. He spent time explaining the menu to us and included his recommendations. We opted for Focaccia bread, a Margherita pizza and two pasta dishes. The focaccia was divine. It was light and delicious. The second item served was the Margherita pizza. It was excellent. Our son exclaimed it was the best pizza he has eaten in the states. Maybe the best pizza ever? There was a monitor in our dining area with a live-feed of the pasta making room. We saw Chef Funke step into the box and start rolling out pasta. We each took turns to run down to watch for a minute. It was a glorious experience for us. The two pasta dishes we had were the special of the evening, Agnolotti, and Tagliatelle. Each was unique and amazing. Unlike anything we have ever tried. (Our first trip to Italy will be later this year). We are really glad we were able to find reservations during our visit. Max was incredibly helpful and attentive. We shared a few dishes, and the standout for me was definitely the shrimp. Don't skip the focaccia bread -- it's perfect for soaking up all that flavorful sauce. Amazing!! We were lucky enough to snag a last minute Friday night reservation! The food here brought us back to Italy. The arancini tasted better than some of the ones we had in Rome! The rigatoni all'amatriciana was super fresh and our favorite of the night, literally my favorite pasta ever. The pasta was also super fresh and perfectly cooked. The stand out dish was the panna cotta meringue, truly a culinary experience and what a treat to finish the meal with!! I was invited to go with my work and I don't really remember most of what we ate but what did stick out was the squash blossom and the branzino with flannel salad.I do love a branzino I am so bias so it was delicious. Their squash blossoms reaffirm my love of Cheese filled squaish flowers. They made a rezzy for us so i'm not sure how getting a rezzy is like now. They have valet out the back alley. Hands down some of the best pasta I have had in LA. I am well aware of celebrity Chef Evan Funke and have also been to Felix Trattoria over in Venice, his other restaurant, which I really enjoyed. I would say this is even a better, and classier version. Inside is absolutely beautiful and has a very late night, early 1990s, Miami neon vibe to it. It's the sort of place would be great to bring a date or friends. The only issue we had was pricing was a bit obscene for some items, such as $8 a glass for iced tea, with no refills, but aside from the pricing it was a great experience. Our server was also very polite and everything that we ordered arrived fairly quickly except the last two dishes were pasta and one arrived over 10 minutes after the other, which was really inconvenient. Parking in the area is honestly really easy, there is a large underground parking structure right across the street with the first two hours of free parking. Otherwise it would be metered street parking which will be hard to find in this part of town. We ordered many items which are all delivered when they were ready at staggered order. First came the Sfincione Palmeritano which was honestly delicious focaccia bread with cheese and marinara on top and it really was a great start to the meal. Next was the Fiori di Zucca which was a real hit at the table. The ricotta cheese inside was heavenly, and I loved how crunchy the squash was. Next came my favorite dish the night, which was the Gamberi in Salsa Verde. The prawns were cooked perfectly and the Salsa Verde sauce was absolutely amazing. I soaked it up with the focaccia bread and it was an amazing combination. For our entrées, we chose two of the pastas, which were the Tagliatelle Bolognese and the Cacio E Pepe. Both were absolutely fantastic and honestly, some of the best pasta that I've ever had in Los Angeles. My immediate family was in town, and we only are able to get together for dinner once a year, so this was a special night. We made reservations for 5, and got there on time. Now, the following has a lot of details that may or may not be interesting if you are looking at this to determine whether or not you want to come here, so feel free to skip directly to the food part below... We were initially offered a table that felt too small (looks like it would comfortably seat 4, but was a bit of a squeeze for 5, even though they assured us that they seat parties of 5 there all the time) and next to what looked like an emergency exit. It just didn't feel comfortable for us. And this place is pricey, so....we'd like to be comfortable. Anyway. We asked for another table, as there was at least one or two other tables that would seat 5 more comfortably, and were in a better location. After a lot of back and forth, with the manager telling us that the larger tables were reserved for parties of 6, we compromised and started our meal at the original table, and they said they would move us to a larger table if it became available. One of the big empty table proceeded to sit empty for....at least another hour or so, and when another bigger table became available, we asked them to check on that one too. A bit more back and forth - it seems like there was another party of 5 that they were going to seat at the other big table....and we think it was a party of 5 because they did eventually move us to a larger table and sat THAT other party of 5 at our original table.....but if they would seat THAT party of 5 at a table for 6.... the logic wasn't super logicking and I know I'm giving TMI. The large table was much much better. Ok. So. As you can see from my reviews, I've been to a lot of restaurants and I've really very rarely seen a case where they will hold a table for a later party that has the same number of people when the people who got there earlier asked for a change in table...I dunno, was it us? How we looked, dressed, or were perceived? It was kind of a blah opening to the meal. They did make it up by being very nice to us later, and gave us some things on the house, which is appreciated. I just don't like going into an establishment wondering if they are treating us the way they are because of any sort of unconscious/implicit, uh, feeling that they may have toward us after seeing us. Honestly, this has not happened in a very very long time in LA for me if ever, but, hey, it's Beverly Hills, so. That being said, everyone was very nice, the service was good and friendly. And the drinks were good - we got the strawberry based non-alcoholic cocktail, and a Manhattan, and both were delicious. On to the food. Keep in mind that when I had this meal, I was in the midst of some dental issues, so textures and softness really mattered, and I think what I liked and didn't like was framed by whether or not I could chew the thing without pain. - The focaccia is very soft. I mean, it's like the softest focaccia I have ever had. Super pillowy and warm - like you could take a nap in it. Lovely. My tooth thanks the chef. - Squash Blossoms - excellent - perfectly fried - not too much, very light and crisp. - Rucola salad - very simple, and a good way to make sure we got our leafy greens. - Margherita pizza - super thin crust, very well done. You could fold it like a New York slice. Yes. And then we got 4 pastas - the tagliatelle, the orecchiette, the arrabbiata, and the cacio e pepe. My favorite was the tagliatelle - the pasta was so so perfect. The other three tasted great...but the pasta was cooked SUPER al dente....and it hurt my dente. :( My parter really REALLY loved the arrabbiata (this was was also less al dente), and we definitely kept the sauce for that to keep dipping the focaccia in. For dessert, we got the panna cotta, which was topped with meringue and strawberries, and this was wonderful. We also got donuts with ice cream and blueberries, which was also good. For some reason, these were the two desserts that two separate servers recommended to us that night. So, that's what we went with. I was happier with the panna cotta than with the donuts, but both were solid. We took some donuts home, and I'm, uh, steaming them to warm them back up and to try and soften them up a bit. I realize by revealing this, I may be forever banned from this restaurant for bastardizing their leftover dessert. LOL. I also got a decaf americano, which was good, but they sadly didn't have to-go cups for me to take it on the road (I mean, I'm clearly the problem here - I drink REALLY slowly). Parking. The rooftop bar is the way to enjoy the Funk vibe. We got seated immediately. We had a reservation in the main dining room but chose to eat upstairs at the bar. The pink quartz bar and open-air environment were undeniably inviting. Bar Funke was fun and the dishes came out on time and with and with a nice cadence. I really enjoyed the new Amalfi pizza on the menu-- additionally, their spin on thin crust says, "Hi, I'm not trying too hard." I love it! My favorite style of pizza is an authentic NYC slice. Funke balanced their pizza flavors well. I wasn't sure how the lemon and onion would taste. They pulled it off. All in all, I knew the pasta was going to be spectacular. So, I tried the pizza too. They didn't try to complicate the recipe. Therefore, the pizza paired very well the entire meal. Plus, the prices aren't over the top like other places in the area. read more

What an amazing experience!! I finally had the opportunity to visit and try Funke Bar and it was worth it. The service was great, we got lucky and it was not packed. We ordered the stuffed squash blossoms- amazing! Creamy and cooked to perfection! The Dama Bianca, aka the fennel salad was just superb- I need the recipe! We ordered all 3 of the chef's special handmade pasta and they were just made to perfection, it reminded me of my Italy trips; fresh and delicious. I shall return for more. read more

We wanted to go somewhere special to celebrate our anniversary and had recently seen Chef's Table: Noodles so we made sure to lock in a reservation here at Funke. The experience was more than we expected. We arrived a little early and enjoyed drinks at the rooftop bar which was beautiful around sunset. The Sicilia was refreshing and we were soon called back down to the main dining room where we were excited to catch a quick glimpse of Chef Funke walking around. A big shout out to our waiter Chuck who was so welcoming and who poetically described the menu options in such detail that we couldn't wait to try everything we ordered. We started with the sfincione palermitano which was recommended since we weren't ordering a pizza (although the pizzas looked and smelled really good!). Oh my goodness it was the perfect combination of flavors and textures. We didn't plan to eat it all, but we did! Then had the artichoke followed by the trofie and pappardelle. The pastas lived up to expectations and perfectly prepared. For the trofie the pesto was flavorful and plentiful and my husband couldn't stop raving about the boar ragu with the pappardelle. I was so excited to try this restaurant and it lived up to the hype. Everything that we tried was spectacular the ambience of the restaurant was gorgeous and elegant. There was so many delicious and unique desserts to choose from. We obviously had to get more than one. The pizza was a highlight of my dinner. Was light with a delicious crispy crust. And with just the right amount of sauce, which was amazing as well. Can't wait to go back and try another dish. Just a note for anyone looking to make a reservation, definitely try to get an early reservation. They only make a set number of specific dishes that have the hand rolled pasta just because making the pasta rash is the quite tedious task, and they would rather not have any wasted! The Netflix show got me all excited about Funke. A restaurant that specializes in all things pasta? Why wouldn't I want to drive all the way to LA and stuff my face?! The Netflix show talked about the art and work that goes into making each of these different types of pasta, the level of precision and the different flavors that make each dish unique. What I wasn't prepared to experience was the delight each mouthful brought! We were seated in the lower floor, adjoining the kitchen, and pretty lively (although seems like the other floor was more spirited haha). Things we tried 1. Sicilia- a bright, citrusy, beautifully complex drink that was a perfect start to a meal. It was like summer in a glass. 2. Sfincione Palermitano- the first bite blew me away! The magic of bread and savory tomato was something else! The bread was thick, airy crust, so fresh combined with the tomato sauce with anchovies and caramelized onions, with a bit of a crunchy bite was a delicious mix of flavors and textures. So special. 3. Busiate- a substitute for Trofie since they were out of it. The nutty, earthy-ness of pesto with the whimsy pasta shape was such a comfort food elevated to another level. One of the most memorable bites. 4. Orecchiette- I'm obsessed. I've always liked the orecchiette especially if combined with Italian sausage. And this one was the best I've had. Simple, almost rustic, not at all flashy, but oh-so-delish. 5. Linguine Al limone- I'm generally not a fan of lemon pasta. So this was supposed to be a 'try something out of your comfort zone' dish. It was as expected - lemon, cream and perfectly cooked pasta. I didn't love it, but I could appreciate the texture and flavor. We ended the meal with a glass of dry rose. Funke is a phenomenal restaurant that serves Italian food with heart, memory and purpose. I'll definitely be back, maybe add some desserts next time! read more

Overall a good experience. A solid 4.0/5. With appetizers, drinks, entrees, and dessert it was about $125/person. Recommend the squash blossoms, lemon pizza, and the arrabbiata pasta as the MUST order. We were underwhelmed by the tagliatelle bolognese (sauce flavor was underwhelming, but pasta texture was excellent) and the agnolotti (at $50 for the plate, we felt it was under seasoned). Service was okay, although I felt our waitress was short and we felt a bit rushed whenever she asked if we needed anything. We have been waiting to get a reservation and got "lucky" with last minute opening. The space is beautiful and staff very professional. But the food was disappointing. Great food, great ambience, great staff! We started out on the rooftop bar where we experienced some unique and delicious cocktails and Mathew's enthusiasm and knowledge helped us make some fun and unique choices. When seated downstairs we loved watching the action in the kitchen and professional server Carmine enthusiastically recommended terrific dishes included the duck ragu tagliatelli and aged rib eye. He paced the meal perfectly and then we were lucky enough to have Eric an incredibly knowledgeable and fluent Som pair each course expertly right to the end with a spectacular amaro. Our favorite Italian go to has been Felix on the Westside and now we have an equally superb spot in BH. Can't wait to return. read more

What an unforgettable night at Funke! I came here with friends and from start to finish, the experience was phenomenal. We began with a bitter greens salad (the name escapes me, but I'll never forget the flavor), fresh, vibrant, and the perfect way to wake up the palate. From there, the handmade pastas stole the show. One dish had this incredible lemon brightness that was both colorful and refreshing, while the duck ragù was rich, comforting, and beautifully layered. To end the night, we shared donuts that came with little dishes of preserves and custard on the side. Instead of being filled, you got to dip and build each bite yourself; playful, indulgent, and the perfect sweet note to close the meal. A huge part of what made the evening so special was our server, Chuck. He was knowledgeable, animated, and genuinely fun to be around. He guided us through the menu with ease and made the whole experience feel personal and celebratory. Funke is the kind of place that makes dining out feel like an event.
