The matcha is clearly high quality, with the perfect matcha-to-milk ratio. It comes out thick, smooth, and beautifully frothy, which shows how strong their whisking technique is. Most importantly, it tastes incredible on its own. It doesn't need a cream top to add flavor or hide a weak matcha base. The new Arts District location is beautiful, spacious, and thoughtfully designed. I'm not someone who automatically falls for trendy, Instagrammable matcha shops--the drink itself still has to deliver--and DAMO absolutely does. Even with a line, everything moved quickly and efficiently. Five stars for the quality, preparation, atmosphere, and overall experience. DAMO is the real deal and completely deserving of the hype.

We came earlier and caught their breakfast, so we had shakshuka and syrnyky with half berry sauce and half custard, shakshuka nice warm and savory, while the syrnyky (cottage cheese pancakes) were nice tender and sweet, with a bittersweet berry sauce and milky sweet custard! Almost as soon as we walked up to this place, I was already enamored with The Sycamore Kitchen. Not only is the front patio area super cute and cozy, but the overall vibe felt so chill and relaxing. Inside, there was a relatively short line to order, but it actually gave us time to check out their display case of pastries and baked goods. However, as tasty as everything looked, we knew we had to order off their menu, which is chock full of dozens of dishes - breakfast/brunch plates, sandwiches, toasts, salads, bowls, weekend brunch specials, daily lunch specials, and so much more. The owners were obviously from France as they were speaking their native language.
