I took my parents here because I NEEDED to introduce them to the potato varenyky. And, of course, they ended up loving it, along with everything else on the table. Potato varenyky are potato dumplings swimming in a delicious, creamy mushroom sauce. It's my favorite item, but the entire spread of Ukrainian food that we ordered cannot be beat. A similar dish to this was the crepes with chicken and mushroom because the base used the same sauce. For dessert or a sweet breakfast should I say, the crepes with sweet cottage cheese are a good choice. Fusion Kitchen is saved in my personal Yelp collection of top recommendations I have whenever people ask for food recs. They have beautiful, cozy indoor seating and even an outdoor seating area, which is also gorgeous when the weather is good.

IG/TT@eatwkris Ukrainian brunch cafe where they have so many dishes I've never tried before. HOLUBSTI $20 - my favorite dish. It's 3 cabbage rolls filled with beef and rice on top of a tomato sauce served with a side of toasted bread. So delicious and reminded me of grape leaves but with cabbage instead highly recommend MYLNTSI (crepes) $19 I for the one with chicken and mushrooms sauce and it was pretty tasty. The crepe is filled with ground chicken I think with a creamy mushroom sauce on the outside. I liked this but felt the dish needed more of the sauce since most of the flavor came from the sauce They also have cherry filled dumplings that I really wanted to try but they ran out so I'll be back for them next time!

Since my last visit to Fusion Kitchen was amazing, I knew I had to visit again! This time, I came back with the girlies for a cute Galentine's brunch--and it was unforgettable! The interior was nicely decorated with cute heart balloons inside the same rustic cozy interior. Presentation is top-notch and everything tasted just as good as it looks. I really loved every dish, but have to give a special shoutout to the eggs benedict and pistachio cake we had for dessert. Fusion Kitchen seriously does brunch best! I love Fusion Kitchen! Ordered: Breakfast Plate Eggs Benedict Quinoa Bowl with Kimchi French Toast with Berry and Custard Sauces Dumplings with Cherries (varenyky) - so good + unique Ricotta & Pistachio Cake - AMAZING

Nice Ukrainian brunch! Clean and cozy interior, serve with flavorful dishes. We got the shashuka, caviar bagel, mlynski with chicken and mushroom, and varenyky with cherries. The dumpling dough are soft, for the mlynski, full of mushroom flavors. Service is very friendly and explain the dishes. A must try when you are craving brunch :)

If you've been looking for an EGG-cellent brunch spot in Los Angeles, definitely check out this criminally underrated hidden gem! @fusionkitchenla specializes in Ukrainian-style brunch, with unique breakfast dishes such as syrnyky (farmer's pancakes), mlyntsi (crepes), varenyky and pelmeni (dumplings) that are so hard to find anywhere else! With the help of the very friendly employees, we ordered a good mix of traditional and Ukrainian brunch dishes, and we were SO impressed with the excellent culinary execution and beautifully curated flavors of each dish. If you're in the Miracle Mile area, I highly recommend checking them out for one of the BEST and most unique brunches I've had in LA! Featured here: caviar bagel medovik shakshuka mlyntsi with berries syrnyky with custard honey and lavender latte matcha latte

Fusion was a very nice place to visit for lunch. Really cute cafe with a comforting ambiance almost like you're eating in someone's house. I've never had Ukrainian food but this cafe really opened my world to some delicious items! Food came out really quick and we were able to self serve water. My partner and I really enjoyed the potato dumplings which were soft, creamy, and savory. I do like that there was sour cream available for each dish, it just gave it a nice kick. The Beef cabbage rolls were also good, the cabbage was cooked really well and held its structure, the beef with the sauce reminded me of a meatloaf almost! The Syrnyky was a good dessert to end the meal--it was not too sweet and quite fluffy! I really appreciated how big the blueberries were and the mix of berries was fantastic. Very refreshing with a hint of tartness. Staff were friendly and attentive! If you're looking for the bathroom, you'll need a key and to take a small stroll into a quiet outdoor space to use the restroom. Overall a great experience and great introduction to Ukrainian food, thank you Fusion kitchen!

Great experience, order at the counter and they deliver to your table. The Latte Coffee is great. Crepes are fantastic, and delicious. Everything we tried was phenomenal. The Borscht was my favorite. Next was the Cabbage Rolls.

Fusion Kitchen LA completely blew me away. First of all the raspberry croissant? Hands down the best I've ever had, and honestly the only one I've ever seen like this. Flaky, buttery, and filled with flavor. A total dream. Their Eggs Benedict with caviar was next-level elegant, rich, and perfectly balanced. And don't even get me started on the crepes with sweet cottage cheese... comforting, delicious, and beautifully presented. Also, HUGE shout out to Katie! She gave the best customer service I've experienced in a long time warm, welcoming, and made the whole experience feel special. Fusion Kitchen LA is 100% a Hidden Gem. I'll be coming back again and again. Highly recommend!

I went with my spouse, we shared a plate of Vareniki, my spouse had the Shakshuka and honey cake, I had the borscht. We loved everything! I will be going back for the Shakshuka! The Borscht was excellent and who doesn't love a potato and cheese dumpling? The place felt very comfortable and clean! We ordered at the counter and everything was brought to our table. The guy who took our order and delivered the food was friendly and personable. What a great place!

Pelmeni with Beef to take home and cook yourself. Yum!

Never had Ukrainian food before, but this place is right down the street from where I lived so we thought we would give it a shot. Let me tell you, it's delicious!!! We enjoyed the pelmeni so much that we bought some to go. It was easy to prepare and just as delicious. It's a cute little place and the staff is friendly. A little pricey, but the food is definitely made to order. You can see the chefs in the back preparing all the food. Give it a shot! I'll definitely be back!

Came here for brunch with my partner today. Everything we tried was delightful!! I ordered the Mylntsi with Chicken and Mushroom, and my partner got the Varenyky with Mashed Potatoes. I also had a matcha latte and we shared one of the cannolis with condensed milk. Mylntsi with Chicken and Mushroom: 9/10. The outside was nice and crispy, and the filling was super flavorful. It paired so well with the cold sour cream! Would definitely order this again and again. Varenyky with Mashed Potatoes: 8/10. Not as savory as the mylntsi but still delicious! Cannoli with condensed milk: 7/10. A little too sweet IMO but still a nice dessert. Matcha latte, unsweetened: 7/10. This wasn't my favorite matcha latte, but it was solid and I wouldn't mind ordering it again. It wasn't very busy at 1 PM on a Sunday; we didn't have to wait at all for a table. You order and pay at the counter first then find your own table, where they'll bring your food out to you. It took about 30 min for our food to come out, which is a bit slow, though I know this is also a newer location. I would love to come back and try some of their sweeter dishes, like the syrnky or mlyntsi with cottage cheese!

Super cute and clean place to grab a coffee and pastry. The coffee wasn't overly sweet and the eclair perfectly crisp. Delish!

Mom Please is a Ukrainian cafe turned restaurant. It's aesthetically pleasing decor couples well with the beautifully presented & tasty food. My family and I drove up from San Diego to enjoy a meal and reminisce of our time in Ukraine. The food was delicious! We loved their borscht, halubtsi, and vareniky. Yet the menu lacks several classic Ukrainian dishes. Namely, I was hoping to find at least a few more options like solyanka, chicken kyiv, deruny, linivi vareniky, nalisniky, etc. Same with drinks... kisel, uzvar, kvas. Most importantly, if you're a Ukrainian restaurant, you might as well serve real salo... not just regular, grocery-store-bought American bacon. The frozen vareniky are too pricey. $25 for 700ish grams is outrageous. They're delicious though. The restaurant itself is small. There were only a few tables inside. While there were several outdoor seating options, it was rather cold despite the heaters blasting on full. There was no table service - must order by the register. Only one of the servers spoke Ukrainian, and he wasn't even Ukrainian. Wish they hired more Ukrainians, especially with the mass influx of refugees.

However, no photos allowed and I respected the rules of the restaurant. So let me have my words do the photographic build up for Olivetta. We were headed to valet ($20) and somehow lucked into getting one of the very few parking spots right out front, score. We were warmly greeted and walked to our reservation immediately, walking by a rowdy gen x party at the bar adorned in cowboy hats & wanna-be influencers at nearly every table. It's so pretty inside, each room a little different but equally awe inspiring. I loved the vibe and my seat was perfectly placed in front of a giant mirror. My avoidant self did not have to view my reflection, but rather it was like a TV showing me all the hustle and bustle of the restaurant as diners shuffled back and forth to their seats. Watching the crowd was fun. Classy, range of ages, range of demographics but everyone is LA cool. You can be who you want here and Olivetta exemplifies that under their beautiful exterior. We had a perfect server by the way, very friendly and gave just the right level of service, not too much, not too little, just what I like, like I'm Goldilocks of Yelp LA Dining. We started with the squash blossoms, maybe regrettably so, as we had a hard time choosing an app. I'll try something else next time as they underwhelmed me. A nice crisp on the flowers but the stems were a bit much and I just found this dish to be aiight. Now the pastas I absolutely loved. We tried two and just adored them both. I was actually surprised at how good the portions were for such a classy, cute place. The Creste di Gallo was a sensation for the eyes and mouth, with a fun tableside creation of this dish. There's a generous shaving of cheese and delectable bone marrow in the dish, really great flavor and consistency. The Agnolotti was equally, if not even more, creamy and delicious. I was so full but could not stop eating this rich sauce over sage cream sauce and dried sage leaves. The roasted carrots were a nice accompaniment with our meal over a puffed feta bed sprinkled generously with pistachio and dill. Despite being full, we were still able to get through about half of the Chocolate Olive Oil Cake which was fluffy and soft with a chocolate ganache to pour over the top. I wouldn't have minded if this came with gelato or ice cream, just a tad but it was still a solid dessert. I do wish they had some non-alcoholic items like hot tea or coffee or espresso to go with dessert, they only had alcoholic offerings. Prior to beginning dinner, we did order some drinks. They had 3 Mocktails on their menu and were out of 1, so my friend and I ordered the only 2 mocktails ($16 a pop) options on offer. We found them okay - just fine, but wished they were excellent or more NA options were available & more care was intended for those of us who are Cali sober. Other than drinks though, I absolutely loved Olivetta. I'll absolutely be back to try more on the menu and I'm sitting here craving the Agnolotti, omggggggg it was so bomb. I def will be copping that dish again.

The Little Door is known for their gorgeous outdoor seating under twinkly lights but be aware you cannot garuntee a spot there - only request. We had reservations on a Sunday night and they were fairly busy around 7pm. We were taken to the back seating area which is indoor. I appreciate that they have the option of a personalized dinner menu which is what my partner got for me, and they even bring you a large envelope so you can take the menu home. It took us some time to be greeted by our waitress. I felt the service was lacking. She was nice, but I felt like we were often forgotten. For our drinks I had a cucumber gin martini and my partner had the Casanova. Both were delicious! For our appetizer, we ordered the Piri-Piri shrimp. It was 4 pieces of shrimp lined up with small circles of flatbread in between each piece, seated on top of a smoky and flavorful sauce. We both loved it! For our main meal we ordered the couscous "Royale," fresh Papardelle pasta, and roasted carrots. The couscous came with one lamp chop, stewed lamb, merguez, and chicken - with a side of sliced almonds and dried apricot for topping, extra lamb stew sauce, and the most incredible harissa. I absolutely loved this dish, it was so flavorful. The pasta was a solid dish as well, and the roasted carrots were also fantastic. For dessert, we ordered the lava cake and I had Moroccan mint tea. The lava cake was well balanced with flavor and not overly sweet. The tea was fragrant, sweet, and the best way to end the meal. Overall I had a nice first experience at The Little Door. I don't think there's much left on the menu that I would want to try. I would love if they added more Moroccan-inspired dishes to the menu to make them stand out! This is a long-overdue post. République has been on my must-visit list of LA dining experiences for…read morequite some time. I just never realized where it was since I don't usually make it out to Hancock Park. Then one day, while I happened to be in the area, I stumbled upon it and had one of those "Wait...this is here?!" moments. You ever have one of those places you've wanted to visit forever, only to realize it was much closer than you thought? My first visit was actually for dessert after having a less-than-memorable lunch at Mish down the street. Unfortunately, I arrived later in the day and most of the pastry case had already been wiped out, leaving only a limited selection. The staff recommended the Dulce de Leche Cremadette ($6.75), and I'm glad they did. It was perfectly flaky, buttery, and sweet, with the dulce de leche tucked inside the pastry. The caramel reminded me of the caramel coating on a caramel apple. I also picked up some brownies at the staff's recommendation, and those were fantastic -- incredibly moist, rich, and delicious. Definitely a must-get. I was a little disappointed that I missed out on the majority of the pastry selection, but I was told that the pastries are made in limited batches each day and once they sell out, that's it. So if you're coming specifically for the pastries, get here early. Earlier this summer, I made the acquaintance of an OG Yelper, Joseph A., and we've been corresponding back and forth on Yelp. I happened to know that he's a regular at République, so I asked if he'd be interested in meeting me right when they opened. I figured if anyone knew what to order, it would be him. Joseph was incredibly kind and gracious enough to treat me to breakfast. I ordered his usual breakfast recommendation: the Regular Breakfast ($24), which comes with bacon steak, fingerling potatoes, a demi baguette, French butter, jam, and an egg prepared any style. Joseph went with the soft scramble, and I followed his lead. That was definitely the move. They really know how to cook eggs here. The soft scramble was absolutely divine -- creamy, delicate, and perfectly cooked. The bacon steak was a little on the salty side, but still very good. The demi baguette was excellent, especially with the French butter and jam. Honestly, I could have eaten several pieces of that baguette with the butter and jam alone. The fingerling potatoes were nicely seasoned and quite good on their own, but a few dashes of hot sauce really took them up another notch. I'll be honest: $24 is definitely on the pricey side for what you're getting, especially when you break down the individual components. That said, when you factor in the quality of the food, the setting, and the overall experience, I can understand why people are willing to pay it. We also shared several pastries, and every single one was excellent in its own right. I'm officially hooked on the pastries here. They just don't miss. Service was pretty good during my visit. One thing worth noting is that République adds a 4% surcharge to the bill to help cover healthcare for their staff. It's certainly something to be aware of when looking at the final bill. f you're looking for a quintessential LA brunch experience to take out-of-towners to, République is a great option. Just be prepared for potentially long lines, especially on weekends. I visited on a weekday morning over the summer, so I didn't personally experience the weekend crowds. My only real wait was at the pastry counter during my first visit. I've heard you can expect people lining up before they even open at 8AM, so plan accordingly. The cult following surrounding Walter and Margarita Manzke's restaurant/café is understandable. Between the food, pastries, atmosphere, and history of the building, there's a lot to appreciate here. And speaking of history, the building itself is pretty special. The property was built in 1928 by Charlie Chaplin. It became a restaurant in 1989 when chefs Mark Peel and Nancy Silverton transformed the space to open La Brea Bakery and Campanile. After Campanile closed in 2012, the building was renovated and modified to open up the space while returning it closer to the spirit of its original construction. République opened in 2013 and has been going strong ever since. Do yourself a favor and eat at République. Come for the food and pastries, but also take some time to appreciate the ambiance and the history of this incredible LA property. And whatever you do, get here early if you want the pastries. Once they're gone, they're gone! Don't walk--run to République.
