Tonight we dined at Gabby's Grill. We ordered the pot roast and the beef tips along with some potato skins. The pot roast was bland and tasted very metal like. An alright place to take some visitors if you just want something simple. When you first walk in it's not a bad little place. I like the amount of natural wood throughout and the warm lighting, kind of like a restaurant might look in a western mountain town I guess. Staff has always been friendly couple times we went in as well. As far as the food, it's just alright. Nothing really to write home about. I would say it's maybe like an independent version of Chili's, if not a little better quality. A place to get a WIDE variety of meal choices and a draft beer. Nothing really bad to say about the place so I can't bring myself to give it 3 stars but also nothing that would cause me to give it 5 stars. Several of the chairs need to be fixed or replaced...just makes the place look shabby and unattended to. At 4:30 the kitchen didn't know what the special was...I think it runs from 3:30 to 5:30?? Stay away from the chicken fried steak...super thin overal...crust was hard, fried and salty... and a strange shape (a Sysco product?) and "where's the beef"? No steak to speak of...Mashed potatoes and green beans looked like they would save the meal but were super salty. Casual, comfortable people who really seem to work well together and want to do a good job. Maybe 4-stars because the place was pretty clean, and we saw staff taking time to clean between guests. But, here's why I don't see this place as 4-stars. The food was really *so* average to bad. I ordered the chicken fried steak because it is served with Gabby's homemade country gravy- it SAYS so printed right in the menu. The meat was 2 pieces of perfectly oval breaded patties right off the Sysco truck, popped into the fryer. That's not 4-star food- and neither was the "homemade" gravy straight from a can- Just no way. My dining partner ordered chicken marsala- it was a small, tight lump of overcooked, over processed chicken in a glossy, starchy sauce. Not 4-star food. So, here we are...4 star service, 2 star food. I'll give 'em 3 stars, but I won't go back. Lots of good dining choices in Prescott Valley- pick something else. read more

We came here for a late lunch after a gymnastics competition and John took great care of us. He sat our group of 9 at table in the back room which was great for privacy! So I never leave bad reviews. But this one warranted one. Our server who took the order was good. She was "new" so the slow service/inability to answer questions were on that. The one thing I was most annoyed about is the fact that our ribs were recommended. We should have known not to order this close to Colt grill. Anyhow, we did since they were first recommended. The ribs came and STILL HAD THE MEMBRANE ON! That is absolutely disgusting. I wish the manager would have said something since we still paid almost $30 for some Really bad ribs. Gabby's Grill is now serving BREAKFAST! Every day. It was so good. Started off with Spicy Bacon Bloody Marys ... wow! Spicy & filling. Excellent. Coffee came in a carafe ... was fresh, hot & delish. Black Forest Benedict came with lots of black forest ham & hollandaise, eggs perfectly poached and a side of potatoes fried up with onion. So good. I took much home for later. Corned beef hash and eggs came in a skillet and was so filling we packed up half to take home for later. If you haven't been for breakfast, go try Gabby's Grill. You won't regret it. read more

My friend and I were there a few days ago. First she wasn't impressed by the service. We were very confused as to who our waitress was or the drink server. Then the meals were not exactly what we were expecting. She had the Pork Chops and found them to have been over cooked. Not thick and juicy. Gabby's food is very good. I have not had a better Cobb salad anywhere. My husband and I have never had a bad meal here. The service however, has gone down hill in the last month or so. We have eaten here twice in the last month and both times have VERY long delays in getting a server to acknowledge us, and then a long time to take our order or check on us after we get our food. We saw 4 employees standing around talking this visit while we were waiting to place an order, so that was pretty annoying. Okay, so we have visited this restaurant twice in the last two months. We wanted to give it a fair shake until we posted our rating. During our first visit, the restaurant was very busy. So we understand the very long 45 minute wait. We could see how the staff members might be feeling overwhelmed. So we let go of their shortness, the curt ordering process, and the slow service. Not to mention the lack of follow-up during the meal. We also excused the beefy bartender who refused to take an order for a drink because he was "too busy." We assumed he did not possess the skills necessary to multi-task, or to handle pressure. We let it all go because of the visitor circumstance. As for the food, it was okay. Nothing very tasty or memorable. Today we once again gave it a try. Upon entering we noticed the restaurant was sparsely visited. A few people in the booths and a handful of people sitting at the bar watching the FB game. Some employees were at the bar chatting it up with the same beefy bartender as well as some customers. They seemed to be having a laugh fest. We stood at the podium about three minutes before someone decided to greet us and walk us to a booth. The employees are young. But it seems like "slothing around" is their character. There was nothing peppy about being greeted or being walked to our booth. Our server, a male, exhibited he was less than happy to host us or to otherwise be the face of the restaurant. It seemed he took our order because he had to. There was no pleasure demonstrated in his expression or work ethic. Anyway, it turns out he served one of our dishes to other customers. It was only after he brought them their correct order, did he attempt to bring the cold dish to our table to serve to us. Of course we refused the order. So he returned it to the kitchen to have them "make another dish." No doubt they didn't as he returned with the order quicker than it took to order it and serve it the first time. We suspect all they did was toss it into the microwave. Oh well. As one might anticipate from the absence of respect for customer service exhibited by the restaurant representatives, the dish he returned with contained a wrong component of the order. So the server had to return to the kitchen and retrieve the portion of the order that was originally ordered. Yikes. The sandwiches and sides were okay, but by this point our dining experience was deflated. So the meals were not satisfying to us. We left the server a bit above 20% tip anyway because we value our individual character. We are going to be good customers notwithstanding. To us it appeared not being customer service friendly and attentive is the character of this restaurant. Busy or not, we found out we would be subjected to the same type of lackadaisical service. And to put a period on it, when we exited, the employees were gathered around the bar, laughing it up with the bartender and persons who seemed familiar to them. There was know body posted by the door to thank us, ask us to return, or to provide any type of salutation. At least one of the employee party goers could have extracted themselves from the gathering to ensure the rest of the patrons we attended to and being appreciated. Besides, the bar is the realm of the bartender. It should not be a gathering hole for the rest of the employees. We simply walked out unnoticed, never to return again. There are plenty of places to spend our money. We will even drive to Cottonwood, Sedona, or even Phoenix to dine as we did the day before, if we can get great food, and outstanding customer service. We are not limited to hanging out in Prescott Valley/Prescott. Those who are accustomed to better, will not appreciate what they will encounter here. It seems staffing shortages have been the excuse for other similar postings. But here is the thing, if I were playing poker I would rather be holding three aces than a full hand of random cards. Full staffing is not the issue. Find or develop aces. It's called leadership. A lot can be accomplished with a small handpicked on the ball team. And excusing their behavior is not the answer. The job of the employee is not to have a party fest among themselves, or with a select group of customers. If success is the goal they must be attentive to every patron. Instill in them the tenets of being great employees. If there is a "Gabby," hope she or someone takes action to fix what is happening at this restaurant. read more

I'm really sad to update my review, but I recently returned here and it feels like this restaurant got put on the back burner in favor of other spots around town. The service was nice but it took an hour and a half for us to get our food, when we did it wasn't very warm or memorable like it used to be, it was dry and tasted microwaved. My boyfriend got sick and from others around town that we know they have also gotten sick from the soup it sounds like. OK, the food was pretty good. Too expensive for what you get, but tasty. BUT..and the reason for only 2 stars..the service sucked. After giving our order to the "order taker" (who screwed up one order but was never around again to tell) he only spoke to us again when he walked by 40 minutes later giving us the 2 thumbs up saying "everything's good?" not even waiting for a reply. Our "order deliverer" said " finally, huh?" (it took about 30 minutes for 2 sandwiches) and walked away. Very disappointed with the tiny slice of Carrot Cake at $7.25 a slice that I ordered to go. Had I seen the slice at the table I would have sent it back. It is not even 1" thick and weighs almost as much as the styrofoam container, which is like nothing. Will never order another dessert here because it is not a good value. The taste was "meh" for a carrot cake, a little rich but no where near as good as Cheesecake Factory or other restaurants that serve it. Makes me not want to go back. Disappointed. Great place to grab lunch, and probably dinner and cocktails! My Mom just moved to Prescott Valley and Gabby's came highly recommended by the ladies at her apartment complex. We were not disappointed. They got us seated right away and our server was very attentive and friendly. My iced tea and water were never empty. The restaurant is clean and nicely decorated. My mom and I both had salads (I had the Pear and Gorgonzola with chicken and she had the Tri Tip.). The portions were generous and the greens very fresh. Overall, we were both pleased. We didn't have cocktails with lunch, but they have a full bar and some tasty sounding speciality cocktails, as well as a good beer list. Went to Gabby's grill for the first time Friday night. I would definitely NOT recommend the Cod off the early dinner menu. It was $12.99 and as you can see in the photo, there were three very small pieces of greasy cod, three tiny sad looking broccoli heads and not more than a quarter cup of wild tasteless rice. Also had to get my own water glass from the bar after about 20 minutes. Also had to ask for Lemmon and dipping sauce for the cod which it apparently doesn't come with and then which was never brought to the table. Back to the bar to track down someone to get it. It was actually the worst dining experience and food I've had in a long time. Waiters got their 20% though as it was included with the check. Also the bathroom was not clean.
