Do you deduct a star because you don't love what you ordered? Nah. My Thai curry salmon was well-prepared. I just wasn't a fan. (Management, if you read this, put your salmon with flaked Brussels sprouts back on the menu!) T loved his seafood etouffee -- Cajun food is beautifully executed at Gabe's -- and of course we started off with a shared order of Maytag salad and calamari. Gabe's in Villa Ricca was known for their bread pudding, so we splurged on dessert. Not quite as good as this now-closed location, but pretty darned close. And btw, remembering their wine list was sort of pricy, I called for the corkage fee. $20 if you bring your own, which is just what we did.

Date night fail....Ambiance and bar area appeared cool, we sat at the end of the bar and ordered our first drinks...espresso martini and a pineapple cocktail....both way too sweet and disappointing. We ended up with gin and tonics a fail safe drink. Food... fried green tomatoes them selves were decent could have used some Cajun seasoning or at least salt and pepper. what ruined them was rye overloading of sauce on top you could barely see the tomatoes, if that sauce had been on the side it would have been a 3/5. less is more! entrees i decided to go for the oysters i wanted the Rockefeller but the bar tender said they only had cheese and spinach . huge disappointment, first off they didn't come sizzling hot that was the initial red flag, i ate the fried shrimp off the top and then proceeded to eat a luke warm oyster with toppings that were disgusting. i gave it another shot and ate a 2nd one and i could eat anymore i had ordered a dozen and left the 10 there. not happy with this experience at all, even the ladies beside us were complaining about the drinks because the usual bar tender had the night off. if this is all douglasville has to offer ill pass!

Our group of 13 was accommodated last minute and we didn't have to wait too long. We have been traveling from Mississippi to North Carolina from a competition & we all have been craving a nice relaxing dining experience, Gabe's downtown came highly recommended by our Hilton concierge. With this review I hope to put it on the map. While we were looking for places to eat on Yelp or via Apple Maps. Gabes didn't show up eve though it's near our hotel. Our server Michael was amazing. Constant refilled our beverages, was happy to explain entrees, was efficient and very likable. As I mentioned before, we are a group of 13. 4 faculty members and 9 college students. With different appetites, diets, and cravings. We all found a dish that we enjoyed & we couldn't stop eating out food. Probably a hidden local gem and I see why. The parking lot is limited and I would recommend calling ahead but the kitchen works hard and fast. The waiters are kind and their work-ethic is outstanding. I can't wait to come back this way and stop at Gabe's downtown on my next trip.

Food is a little pricey but overall great food and fun atmosphere! I love trying local spots rather than "chains" when out of town, and we were not disappointed! Highly recommended

Gabe's NEVER EVER disappoints. I was here for a business dinner. I ordered chicken. It was the moistest, most scrumptious, and tender chicken I've had. No lies. The only thing missing was a flat screen tv. AV equipment is a must-have for private events. especially business dinners that have presentations!! Gabe could easily rake in big dollars upgrading this space. AV equipment and Gabe's exquisite gourmet food would cause Big pharma and the film industry execs to clamor to have events in the private space.

Our work group came here on a week night after not wanting to wait over an hour at Gumbeaux's on the next street over. We were all hungry and didn't want to get back into the car to find another Cajun restaurant. We were happy that we chose Gabe's. As a matter of fact, we should've chosen this first. The service was great and the food was good. When we walked in, we were seated within 5 minutes. We all found items on the menu right away. I wanted something a bit different and asked our waitress if the kitchen could accommodate me and another coworker. She returned and said that it was a go. We were both excited to know that the kitchen could accommodate our request. We ordered something similar to etouffee sauce with catfish over rice. I had no complaints. It was really good. I thoroughly enjoyed my meal. The restaurant atmosphere was inviting as well. It was a refreshing change from what Gumbeaux's offers. At the end of our meal, my coworker received a text that our table was ready at the other restaurant. We laughed. It's safe to say that everyone was satisfied that we chose Gabe's. It's a really nice restaurant and if we're ever in the area again, we would definitely visit.

Went to visit for a friend's birthday and was pleasantly surprised! We had brunch and the waiter accommodated all 8 of us with no problem. Parking is incredibly easy with a deck next by. The food came out hot and quick and the view of the city was gorgeous!! Would definitely come again.

I have been here many times for dinner and lunch. I can't wait to try brunch. My servers are always polite. They are attentive when informing them of my allergies and helpful when I ask for suggestions. I have never had an issue with the bar (but to be transparent, I keep it simple most times). My favorite dish's are the Seafood Étouffée and Shrimp and Grits. HOWEVER... when oysters are available about April/May I am all over them. I love them raw and baked. They are served with a warm garlic cheese bread... OMG. My boyfriend and I have had some pretty intense conversations about who ate the last piece or if the pie was were split evenly between us. Take my advise and order extra. There is one dish I have had that I won't get again and it's the Jambalaya. For those that like it- great, but it wasn't for me. They use a deep brown roux like the gumbo base. To me, it had a dry smokey chalk paprika taste and way too much shredded pork. Overall, I enjoy Gabe's. The atmosphere is welcoming and the people (guest and staff) have left me with warm memories. Until next time :)

The staff were all very friendly and the restaurant was very cozy. We walked in the door that's connected to the door by accident, not knowing there was a front entrance. Even though we walked through the wrong door the bartender's were all very friendly and greeted us with a smile. Our server brought us to a table. I had my son with us and was able to grab an extra chair for him to sit in his carrier since he's still too small for a high chair. I asked for a glass of moscato which they didn't have (I didn't get a chance to look at the menu) but our server Helmuth suggested a Prosecco that I fell in love with. Kudos to Helmuth for being such a professional server! I picked the appetizers for us which were the fried green tomatoes and Cajun egg rolls. I'm not a fan of fried green tomatoes but these were really good! I was impressed. The Cajun egg rolls were flavorful with the sauces and stuffing. Great job with the crispy-ness. The dinner portions are pretty big which is something I absolutely love. I had the seafood étouffée and it was absolutely delicious. The perfect amount of spices in it and the real deal seafood pieces (not like the typical shredded mystery seafood pieces at some places lol). I tried some of the catfish my aunt and her friend shared. The picture I posted was 1/3 of a piece of catfish they gave me so keep that in mind. I loved the thickness of the crust to it and the sweet potatoes went very well with it. My mother got the truffle fries which were delicious too! I'm not sure how the salad was but it looked like my aunt and her friend enjoyed it as well. I was very happy with how our experience was. I highly recommend trying out this restaurant if you are debating on it. Parking wasn't bad for a Thursday night.

Today everything lined up for us to finally try Gabe's. The dining room and bar were already full so we decided to eat upstairs on the covered patio. Unfortunately there is no elevator and I can't take the stairs right now so we decided on to-go orders. The bartender was delightful who took our orders. In fact, everyone was A+. Hubby and I both ordered shrimp platters with lyonnaise potatoes (instead of fries) and hushpuppies. Both orders came out with fries but we decided not to worry about the mistake since it was so hot. We drove to the new Douglasville Amphitheater for a lovely in-truck dining experience (because it became chilly). The 12 shrimp were big, crunchy, and seasoned well and the fries appeared to be hand cut, crunchy outside and soft inside. I highly recommend Gabe's. Parking is free and plentiful between the spaces in front of Gabe's and the parking garage next door. Enjoy!

EXTREMELY UNPROFESSIONAL, DISRESPECTFUL, AND DISAPPOINTING…read more I am absolutely appalled by the treatment I received at Seafood Pot 2. The owner/manager is one of the most unprofessional individuals I've ever encountered, and the way she speaks to and treats customers--especially Black customers, who make up the majority of her business--is unacceptable. I placed an order for myself and my 2-year-old baby. When I arrived to pick up my food, I politely mentioned to the cashier that I forgot to confirm that the corn was fresh because the last few times I came, it tasted old and reheated. The cashier took the corn to the manager to check, and instead of addressing the concern like a professional, the manager became angry simply because I asked a question. The cashier came back without my food and said the manager wanted to refund my order because she was "upset" that I questioned the corn. I asked for the food as is since it was already paid for and intended for a toddler, and the manager flat-out refused. She wouldn't speak to me, wouldn't explain anything, and hid in the back while instructing the cashier to refund my money. This behavior was rude, hostile, and completely unnecessary. After this experience, I looked through other reviews and found multiple customers reporting old food, overcooked items, and rude interactions with the same manager. Instead of taking accountability, she argues with customers publicly, even going so far as to post the last four digits of people's card numbers in her responses--which is wildly unprofessional and raises major privacy concerns. She also accuses customers of using EBT or eating all their food before complaining. That was not my situation at all, but clearly this is a pattern with how she handles legitimate concerns. This is now the second Asian-owned business in the Fairburn Road / Hospital Drive area where I've experienced complete disregard and lack of respect toward Black customers. It is insulting that a manager would treat paying customers this way over a simple question--no conversation, no solution, just hostility and refusal to provide the food I already paid for. It is clear she does not value the Black dollar, customer loyalty, or basic professionalism. I will never return, and I hope others take these experiences seriously. Respect your customers or lose them.

The ambience is your typical lounge. It's pretty chill no thanks spectacular however, I would go back because the drinks were very good and you can't be a five dollar deal after work.

I've been for happy hour a few times. If you get there I'd say before 6 the music level is ok,…read moreespecially during the weekday. After 6, expect to have to yell at the person next to you. My friends have tried attending and found the music level too loud & left. If it's supposed to be a restaurant, then maybe save the loud music til after 9 for the club vibe? ‍ We came for dinner Sunday, 7/27/25. There was a good mix of R&B & hip hop, with more R&B, I'd say. My husband, "can't do boopity-boo," and was able to hang in there until bingo. I'l come back to that. I ordered the Baldwin Hills, which was fruity, but strong. The bartenders need to get on the same page tho, because the 1st one was definitely better than the 2nd one. I'm from LA & Baldwin Hills is above the area where I grew up, so I had to represent with that drink. Normally, I'm a whiskey/bourbon lady, but vodka is my white liquor preference so I was good. The food is good. We started with the jerk chicken eggrolls. It was definitely fried hard, or maybe refried from earlier? Idk. It was not as light as the picture. Due to the lighting & how hard they were fried, I had to do some editing to make them visible. The server said they weren't too spicy. They come in 4 pieces. The 1st piece I had was definitely mild. My husband said they had a kick when he bit into his, but I didn't get that...that is until I had the 2nd one! Whew! All the spice was in that piece! I'd say slightly spicier than a little kick. They were tasty tho. We both waited a while for our entrees. The table next to us, also only with a couple had their food come out before ours, though they came in as we were finishing our appetizer I think. We'd already placed our entree order by the time they came. The server apologized for the delay on our food and said it would be out in a few minutes. It was more like 10-15 minutes before they brought out his entree. The person who brought it out, maybe the manager?, said she didn't want his food to get cold waiting on mine to come out. It took another 10-15 minutes, if not longer, for my food to come out, with no explanation. My husband ordered the fried catfish entreè with spinach & rice pilaf. He enjoyed his food. His only issue was not having 2 fillets. As you can see the piece you get is sizable, soooo, if you have a big appetite, maybe also get the catfish on the happy hour too to supplement the meal. ‍ I'm trying to get into salmon & the honey bourbon salmon was good. It wasn't overly sweet and it didn't taste fishy, like salmon sometimes can. The spinach is good also. I had to send the potatoes back because they were not hot. As long as I waited for my food, I wasn't expecting lukewarm food. The server quickly brought out some hot potatoes and they were good. They have bingo on Sunday night @ 8; or at least it was 8-something that's night. Initially, the dj said it was an R&B bingo, but when the bingo paper was passed out, it had hip hop on it too. I'm familiar with some hip hop, but don't know all the artists' names, lol. It was still fun, but I knew I probably wasn't going to win lol. We sang during the songs (had to ID the artist on the bingo card), and everyone seemed to be having a good time. I'm glad to have this option in Douglasville and glad it's still here after a few years when some other restaurants have closed. They are also open late, which is good, as most restaurants in the area close at 9 or 10. I'd ask the owner to consider a grown and sexy night or an over 35 night with good R&B music that's played at a level that can be enjoyed and allowed conversation to flow. A line dance night would also be good. I met the owner when the 1st location in Atlanta opened on Edgewood. It just so happened we had family in town visiting from LA. They gave him the business lol about the drink names and the place, but really enjoyed the vibe. I'm glad to see the business flourishing and in multiple states. I wish continued success and that there will be some acceptance of the feedback provided.

I called to verify if the pricing I saw on the ad was still relevant since the price was kind of low and the person who answered was so friendly and confirmed that it was a special they offer daily. The Douglasville location is in the plaza with Bruster's Ice Cream & Golden Krust. I honestly never noticed it when driving by the area, but you cannot miss it if you pull into the shared lot. Parking is a little bit tricky with the one way and smaller shared space, but we were able to find a spot. They have a large chicken (see picture) right outside. The inside was clean with a few chairs and tables to dine in. They recently remodeled and I believe they are under new management. Their restroom was clean. The cashier who took my order matched the voice I heard when I called in and he was just as friendly when we were placing our order. There was an overwhelming amount of options to choose from even down to side items, (i.e. fries, wedges, curly fries, etc.), and the cashier was helpful with suggestions so we could narrow it down. I also noticed they have chicken and waffles on the menu. I opted for the teriyaki wings with lemon pepper sprinkles with potato wedges and my son decided to order a chicken sandwich (tossed in a hot sauce) with curly fries and jalepeno ranch. Our combos included a can soda and my wing order included celery, carrots and ranch. Our food came out hot and fresh. My son loved his spicy sandwich & raved about it for weeks after our visit. The teriyaki wings had the perfect amount of sauce and lemon pepper. They were hands down some of the best teriyaki wings I've tried. The flavor truly shined through with a good level of soy sauce and sweetness and they did not overdo the lemon pepper either. They even reheated well the next day in the air fryer. Overall, I loved the experience and the food. Probably the best wings in the area and for a great price too. I would recommend giving them a try if you're in the area.
