I have been car shopping for a few months now, and after two absolutely atrocious experiences with two different dealerships, I had lost my desire to purchase a new vehicle. At one dealership, the "salesman" had absolutely NO idea about the car he was trying to sell me. He was not informative at all regarding anything that had to do with the vehicle. I may as well have been trying to buy a purse from him! At the second dealership, I was attacked by a group of hungry "salesmen" who could not leave me alone and followed me around the showroom floor as if I needed a chaperone. Not only was I followed around like a puppy dog, but I was constantly reminded about how it was "absolutely necessary to buy a car immediately" as in that very moment because the "deal" of the day was expiring as we stood there!! Needless to say, I left without a new car. Then someone close to me recommended that I give Ottoway Kenley at Galpin Jaguar a call. Although quite hesitant, because she is such a good friend and I trust her implicitly, I picked up the phone and contacted him. Speaking with him was like a breath of fresh air. I had explained to him what I was looking for and he suggested I come in and take a look at everything the the Galpin had to offer, so I did. Upon arrival, I was greeted by a bevy of friendly faces, I had told the receptionist that Ottoway was expecting me, and in no less than a minute, a very tall, gorgeous handsome man approached me smiling. Instantly I was in love. I knew that he is the one that I was looking for all this time during my car search. After exchanging warm salutations, his first concern was that I was hydrated because it was 111 degrees outside, so he escorted me to Starbucks located within the showroom where I ordered a large iced tea that he paid for!! We then proceeded to his office where he listened to everything I had been trough in my past experiences and did not interrupt me once. After explaining all of this to him, he inquired what parameters I was looking for in a car; price, color, options, etc. His presentation on the Jaguar XF was absolutely incredible. He was very informative, detailed and when he test drove with me, he showed me the capabilities of the car and instantly I knew there was no comparison with any other. Upon returning from the test drive, still not ready to buy, I never felt pressured to buy; but because I had felt so comfortable and confident with Ottoway, I asked him to go ahead and run the numbers. Upon his return from speaking with his Manager, Jeremy, I was astounded at the fantastic deal that he had tailored just for me. He had included all that I had asked and more at numbers that are unheard of for this type of a vehicle. Needless to say, I am now a proud owner of a brand new Jaguar XF. I have taken my girlfriend out to dinner twice in my brand new Jaguar to thank her for giving me Ottoway's number. Picking up the phone and calling him is one of the best things I could have ever done. Ottoway Kenley has restored my faith in "salesmen". So much depended on my husband being able to get a dependable car... we couldn't move cause we needed to make sure we stayed local enough to my job so taking the bus or riding my bike wouldn't be so bad.... anyway without getting into full detail about us.... let me tell you... all that changed once I met Hernando at Galpin Lincoln, Van Nuys. Let me tell you... I have never ever met someone so humble, trustworthy and totally real in my life. Especially not someone working at a dealership. We have had some terrible experiences which left us apprehensive about ever buying a car at a dealership again... until we met Hernando and the staff at Galpin. REVIEW OF JAGUAR SERVICE (Originally posted on Galpin-Ford-North Hills section) I have been impressed with Galpin Jaguar service for well over 5 years. We are proud owners of 2 Jaguar Vanden Plas and a Jaguar XJ8. The 1st XJ8 was a lemon but Galpin really took care of the car and it was a difficult electric issue to find and detect but it was fixed and you know, as much as some reviewers here cry, they did their best and we also helped them nail down the issue to a shorting wire that caused issues in bumpy roads - but everytime we were there, no charge and heres a nice rental. Carlos Ponce, their Jaguar Service Tech lead is THE BEST. He's honest, fair, no BSing around....and unlike some whiner reviewers here who complained their car was not washed....yes, everytime the 3 Jaguars were washed! Carlos is the reason why we continued to buy from Galpin Motors with the latest one a Ford (our first Ford). Carlos is a rock star and display exemplary customer service and it would be a sad day when he leaves, hes got a lot of customer trust and goodwill. That guy is gold and Galpin better know which gold they have in their safe and keep it there. I know Derek left Jaguar recently and he was class as well, that was sad. Added new for Galpin Jaguar: 1. Their salesman was top notch. Although a long time ago, Stephen Henry was the best, he was totally cool, no pressure and made sure everthing was perfect. Ivan was great as well, sad to see him go a few years ago. I don't really know that many other salesman there...oh Arie, one of their top salesmanagers was great, helped us with our last couple of Vanden Plas. As much as their sales guys rock, its truly the service managers that either make a customer happy or mad. Plus, they start from the worst possible position - when the customer is already mad because there is something wrong with their expensive new vehicles...its a tougher job than pulling off a sales. Carlos, you've earned a gold medal in this department! It is stated fact for my family - Carlos Ponce is the only reason why we continued with Galpin Motors Jaguar and now their Ford. We needed an inexpensive, small to medium-sized entry-level car for my wife. Not finding what we were looking for, we decided to look for a Jaguar again; this time the new XE. This would be my fourth Jaguar in 27 years; I am very happy with my current, 232,000-mile Jaguar XJ8. (I typically get my cars when the model comes out and drive these for 10-13 years or 215,000-250,000 miles). We decided on the XE, because it was reasonably priced and had great reviews. Since I could not locate the color my wife likes locally (we did an on-line search), we decided on Galpin. I have always had good experiences when buying Jaguars, but found the experience at Galpin to be "exceptional". Our sales associate was Vauhgan Taylor. Vaughan was the perfect person to help us acquire an English car. He is very much in-tune with, and excited about, the product and is very knowledgeable. More importantly, he also is very patient. We felt as if we were the only people in the world. The XE became an F-Pace, as this was a "more practical shopping vehicle". Vaughan then took us for a spin in an F-Pace. I was surprised that it felt more like a sports car than an SUV; convinced this was the right car for her, we needed to find a color she liked. After looking at every F-Pace on the lot, we decided on the F-Pace S in the showroom; it had everything she liked. Vaughan did a great job guiding us, but in the end, it was my wife who made the decision. What I really liked is that there was no pressure at any time. The fact that we could explore at our own pace resulted in us selecting a vehicle that better fits our needs; although it went from an entry-level to a top of the line vehicle, we are very happy with our decision and with our experience at Galpin. We decided to pick up the car the next morning, as it was rush hour. Pablo helped us get everything ready and programmed. During our time at Galpin, we had brief interaction with other associates; everyone was very professional and courteous. We received a follow-up call from Vaughan, making sure we were happy and making us aware of additional service features. Overall a very good experience. read more

Let me start by saying, between my family, we've leased/owned from about 20+ different dealerships ever since I could remember driving. In that time, we've had several service advisers, from Toyota, to Honda, to Porsche, to Volvo and the list goes on. I don't know how to say this in any other way. Jack Semerdzhyan is by far (did I stress 'by far'?) the best service adviser I/we have ever had in the history of leasing/owning cars. What's funny is we all know how car dealerships work. They wine and dine you during Sales, then make you want to throw up during Service--that's not how it works at Galpin and with Jack specifically. He was the first service adviser that I could candidly say cared about me and my situation. Everyone else I've dealt with at other dealerships will smile and pretend they care, but it's all about the bottom line. Again, this is not the case with Galpin. Jack would follow up with me multiple times any time my car's been in for service. He goes above and beyond to not only make sure I'm satisfied, but he does it with a sincerity that I honestly have not ever seen at other dealerships. It's absolutely rare in this day and age to have the pleasure to deal with someone like Jack, because he's a gem. Many times I found myself in high stress situations and Jack was always able to keep me sane. Definitely want to add that as awesome as Jack is, it runs in the Galpin bloodline. At one point, I had the privilege to speak with the GM Mike Schwarz. Class act. He spoke to me like a human and not just a paying customer. I really feel lucky to have had Jack and Mike in my corner. Ottoway Kenley at Galpin Motors is an absolute godsend! My daughter and I were searching high and low for a car and we had visited a few dealerships prior to coming to Galpin. At all the other car dealerships that we had gone to, no one bothered to approach us nor did they bother to explain the features of any vehicle we were interested in. The showroom floor was like a deserted island. There was no one in sight when we had any type of question to ask. The moment we walked into Galpin, even though we had NO idea what we were looking for, nor for what we qualified for, we were immediately greeted by Ottoway Kenley. The best salesperson anyone could ask for. He was very informative, inquisitive and left no stone unturned. Rather than "selling" the car to us, he asked us what we were looking for in a car and listed the many options available within the Galpin family. He had shown us our options that catered to what we were looking for and needless to say, he hit it right on the head. This was my first time bringing my Jaguar XJ into service due to my car having some problems. At first I did not know where to take my car. I called a few dealers around Rusnak/Hornburg I was turned down by both service departments due to them being overbooked they told me I had to make an appointment which was about 10 day wait. I had to urgently take my vehicle into service because my car randomly would shut down while driving. I explained to them that I did not need a loaner vehicle I just wanted to drop off my vehicle because I did not want to risk driving like this but they even went as low as telling me they had no garage space to park my car for 10 days. A friend of mine referred me to Galpin Jaguar, I called service department and spoke to a man named Robert Sardariani and explained my situation, not only did he have me bring the car down ASAP due to safety issues he even gave me a loaner even though they were extremely packed in the service department. He did explain to me that they were really booked with an overload of vehicles being serviced that my car would not be looked at until 2-3 days which I originally had no problem with because I wanted to just drop off my vehicle. I highly recommend this dealership for your Jaguar do not go anywhere else. Friendly staff, and helpful service department. Robert Sardiniani made me feel like home and welcomed as if I was a long liked customer. Wish I can say the same from other service department experiences. My wife and had a great experience buying our car from the Galpin Premier Collection dealership in Van Nuys. The reason for this are the people working there. Upon stepping into the beautiful showroom we were introduced to Justin Permijo. He was unlike any salesman we had expected to meet. He showed us the car we were interested in and compared it to others that were also available. He listened to both our concerns and hopes addressing each in a thoughtful manner. After the exhilarating test drive with the top down he treated us to iced coffee from the on-site Starbucks (a life saver during a hot day in The Valley). Then he carefully explained to us about what constituted a Certified Pre-owned Car and also about the Power Life Warranty coverage that comes standard with the used cars Galpin sells which covers extended replacement and repair. Along the way we got to meet the rest of his sales team, including Jonathan Kramer, who walked us though financing, guarantees and service, and a hands on explanation of what all the buttons, switches and other stalks, knobs and handles did. We had arrived at Galpin at 1:00PM and we finally left at 7:30PM with a beautiful red Volvo C70 hard-top convertible, which our neighbors can't believe isn't new. I picked up a Mazda from Haig Melkonyan a few months back. I can't say enough great things about Haig. His demeanor, friendliness, professionalism, follow-through, and honesty are qualities I hadn't ever come across from any other car salesman. My experience with Haig was so great that I told him that I would come back in a few months to pick up a Jag from him...but ONLY if I could deal with him. While both the Jag and Mazda dealerships are owned by Galpin, Haig is technically with Mazda so the request was a bit strange but a testament to Haig. Texted Haig and told him I was coming in to pick up a Jag from him. While still technically a Mazda salesman, he made sure that my request was met...that I deal exclusively with him. We literally did an absolutely painless deal via text and by the time I drove to the dealership the car was ready to drive out the door. No haggling, no back and forth, no games, no nothing but an extremely satisfied customer. I can honestly say that Haig is the ONLY reason that Galpin got my repeat business. As long as Haig is in the car business, he will ALWAYS get my car business. As someone who uses Yelp extensively, I can see how this glowing review can come off as being suspiciously too glowing. Gary Kessler made buying a car fun and exciting. We initially went into Galpin to purchase a new VW Passat. Gary spent hours with us, allowing us to test drive different Volkswagens and patiently answered our list of questions. We never felt any pressure to purchase a car. The next evening we returned to test drive the 2015 Mazda 6...after understanding our needs and wants, Gary actually suggested that the Mazda 6 might be a much better fit for what we wanted. We spent hours test driving and going through a list of additional questions, once gain, without being pressured. The third night Gary had the VW Passat and Mazda 6 side by side so we could once again test drive them both and compare the two vehicles. He waited patiently while we compared every inch of each car. The fourth evening Gary actually drove the Mazda out to our house to see if would fit in the garage. Who does that!?!
