Other than the fact that they got my order correct, this was an unpleasant experience. The brisket tacos i got were thrown into a Clamshell with as much care as a child has for work. The traps themselves wetter falling apart. They had to all 4 times to see if they had understood the order correctly. Then there was the 10 minute wait in the drive through line. And what do you know. They were out of chips and salsa. I'm not saying i won't go back, but lots cuates is right around the corner and a lot neater and quicker. I love Garcia's and have been eating at their many locations for a couple of decades, but all things must come to an end and today was, sadly, my last visit. I'm a senior with a disabled husband and today I had many errands to run and was driving by Garcia's on Indian School and thought of my daughter, who was home on her one day off and had a sore throat and a headache and was worried about making dinner for her daughter and herself so I used the drive-up and ordered two chicken quesadillas. I paid for them by credit card and looked at the receipt, the items were not listed by food item, but I trusted they got the order correctly since I had repeated it and dropped off the food. My daughter called a few minutes later and told me they had made a mistake and gave me two orders of nachos. While I like nachos, my granddaughter does not and by this time I was home taking care of my husband. I called the location and spoke with Nikki, who had taken my order earlier. I told her about the mistake and her reply was "they asked you about the beans." Well, yeah, but I had no idea that was a secret code to a different order. Hell I just thought it was a side they were offering. Anyway, to end my tale of woe, Nicki didn't offer me any compensation for being out $15, my time and annoyance and none of this effort helped my daughter. My brother and I were passing through Albuquerque on the way back home from a trip to California. We thought we'd stop by and look at our grandfather's old house when he lived here. Glad we did! This place was fantastic. We way overdid it and got green chili stew, tamales, a burrito and an enchilada. We hovered around the table picking at the stuff until we were stuffed. Your go-to New Mexican restaraunt. Probably one of the originals too. The food isn't bad - typical New Mexican style Indian fry bread meals mixed with traditional American Mexican cuisine. Everything is served with red or green chile on top or on the side. You can also get both if you're weird. Definitely eat the sopapillas after your meal with honey. If you're not familiar with this it is strictly New Mexican style and DELICIOUS. There is ZERO reason that a drive through should take a half hour +. This location is consistently slow, gets orders wrong, and the food is going downhill. Also, half the workers don't speak English which is difficult when calling in an order or ordering in drive thru. Get it together Garcia's. read more

Need a red or green chile fix?? This is the place to go!! It's a locally owned restaurant here in Albuquerque. Always a go to place for my family and I. Best place in town to get stuffed sopapillas. As a veg I Always go with a potato stuffed Al carte sopapilla and it's delicious. The atmosphere is very family oriented. The servers are friendly but very slow every time. As if they over book them with tables. Don't come here if you are in any hurry. But definitely come check it out if you have not. Today is November 1st. 6:40pm. I ordered a tamale plate . 2 chicken tacos bean burrito and a stuffed sopapilla plate with chicken and refried beans. The young man with glasses I guess he is your night Mgr. Messed up my order. He wanted to be super fast and when I got home my stuffed sopapilla had chicharones instead of chicken and no Onions? He recommended that there are other locations. Obviously he had no skills with customer service. The owner really has to look at who is running that night shift?? He has 0 skills with customers!! The one star rating is because at least the customer service was good, I figured with it being Garcias the food will be good but I was wrong, I ordered red chili beef enchiladas with extra cheese and two tamales with red chili when I got home my enchiladas were wrong they had green chili no extra cheese and there was potatoes in the meat that's disgusting and they're not the only place doing that I mean really is it that expensive that you have to burn your customers by putting potatoes in the meat to stretch it, my tamales were hard like if they were old I paid 16 dollars for crap I could've bought the stuff to make my own food for the same price I will not recommend Garcias to anyone instead I will send them to other restaurants that haven't disappointed read more

My family and I have been eating at other locations for years so when my husband and I moved close to this location I was excited to have it right down the road. Well like someone else said, those years of being a patron have come to an end. I ordered a simple breakfast burrito and got a tortilla full of "I dont Care". My potatoes were flavorless and boiled NOT fried. I called to tell them and give them a chance to remake it, sometimes these things happen right? Well when I picked up my second burrito it was EXACTLY the same. They just threw undercooked potatoes right back in and passed it out the window. How insulting to paying customers to not put any care into food that your customer took the time to let you make right. The fact that they even let those leave the kitchen makes me wonder what else they dont care about or put effort into. Yikes! Ill not be spending my hard earned money here again. read more

Been coming to Garcias for over 20 years. But this location has trouble opening on time. They open at 7am each day. To me 7am means just that. I believe they need to hire people who can be on time. Several times i have emailes thier corporate office and have been ignored each time. Otherwise, the food is typical Garcia's fare. Still good after all these years. read more

The food here is generally good but the service can be really spotty. I drove in on a Wednesday at 5:00 and ordered from the drive thru menu which was fine but then waited an eternity for a car ahead that had only ordered 2 items. When I drove to the window it was shut and no one was in view. I waited and waited and waited. 5 minutes later I had to open the window and shout if anyone was there before deciding whether to just drive away. Suddenly a woman appeared with my order. She seemed angry that I opened their little window and without apologizing for the endless wait, rang my order up. Another worker showed up and asked if I really opened their window. then I told them it was because no one was there and there was no service. The woman then began to argue back! I asked if she was overworked (there was only one car in their lot!) she said she wasn't. Just lazy I guess... When I opened my order I found they had neglected the eating utensils. I was excited to try this place, especially knowing it was locally owned.... But sadly regret I was very disappointed & will not be returning ... I had the chicken enchilada special & it looked very delicious when it arrived in front of me but once that first bite was taking it was ugh! My chicken literally tasted like chicken out of a can. What few items I've gotten from here are good minus the incredible long wait time in the drive thru area. I went yesterday and waited for 20 mins BEFORE I could order then sat an additional 30 mins waiting until it was my time to pick up my food. Staff is friendly and nice ... But, I ordered many dozens of tamales for a party and they wrote up the order and understood I needed them warmed up. When I arrived to pick them up, the tamales were frozen ... forty minute wait and the party goers didn't like waiting for the main course. What WAS the restaurant's problem in taking a big order, anyway? Nothing in the way of an apology from the staff, either. What an embarrassment! read more
