We came here for brunch over the weekend and were very impressed! They food was tasty and the prices were really reasonable. They also had really good drinks! They have a pretty large space and I love the windows all around which let a lot of natural light in. Our waiter was very friendly and was able to explain some things from the menu for us. Can't wait to come back again!

Loved the the patio area and thought the food was really good. I enjoyed the tuna but it is on the lighter side. My wife thought the roasted chicken sandwich was really good. They have a roasted mushroom sandwich that looks great as well.

Came here for lunch on a lovely Saturday morning. Always passed by on the way to class but never had a chance to try. Interior is very brightly lit and gives farm to table vibes. Service was a bit lackluster. Took a while to get someone's attention so that we could order. We got the chef's pizza and shakshouka to share between two people. Wish I had read the reviews beforehand to choose another pizza because the chef's pizza, which sounded really fancy on the menu, was a bit underwhelming, even though it was one of the more expensive ones. Just cheese with some veggies. Crust was good but nothing crazy. I'd want to try their spicy tomato pizza though. Looks very unique. Shakshouka was also good but nothing special. Just eggs in some tomato sauce. They only gave two pieces of sourdough to dip it in so we had to ask for more, which also took a while. When we finished, it took a while to get a box for the leftover pizza and to ask for the check. Overall nice food and ambiance, but service needs some improvement.

I've been to Gather a few times, and the food is consistently good. Inside, the ambiance is warm and cozy. Service is also great. Most food on their menu is tasty and flavorful. My favorites are Caesar salad and roasted half chicken.

Been a minute since l last went to Gather. I made reservations via OpenTable for 6 easily. The table was ready when arrived. The service could have been better. After getting food, server didn't come back for awhile to check on table. Then took forever to get the check. I got the garden burger and the focaccia fell apart. I didn't have the pizza but they said it wasn't cooked all the way. Street parking/garage nearby.

even on a weekday during midday, the place was popping! small crowd & line out the door but everyone was friendly and made sure we were accounted for. the food was presented nicely, and very well-balanced flavors. butternut squash soup was a favorite & the pizza was a nice delicate crisp. i liked how it wasn't your typical marinara sauce but even with the white sauce, it didn't feel particularly heavy either. such a great pizza combo & vegetarian friendly!

My family and I went to an early dinner at "Gather", because we were out running errands nearby and finished much sooner than we'd anticipated. We really enjoyed it! First of all, they have a lot of gluten free options, and are able to accommodate celiacs and those with serious gluten allergies. One of my family members cannot have gluten, or even food that is cross contaminated. They cook their gluten free pizzas in a separate area from the regular pizzas, and their fries are made in a fryer that is not used to fry anything else. They have gluten free burgers (a choice of a gluten free bun or served as a lettuce wrap) as well. I got a happy hour cocktail; something with tequila in it, and it was yummy. We had a couple of appetizers: my daughter and I shared the mussels ($17, for a lot of them) and the others had the deviled eggs ($10 for only three halves). The mussels were good. My wife says that the eggs were excellent. A couple of us ordered the 1/2 chicken, which was of really good quality. It had yummy crispy skin, and was served with broccolini and over a homemade mole sauce. One of my sons asked for hot sauce, and they brought some; also home made. It wasn't that hot, but it was tasty. The rest of the fam ordered pizza and burgers. Everything was good, by all accounts. (The "cheese pizza" had tomatoes and shallots on it, FYI). The highlight of the early evening was the dessert: ice cream, made by Strauss Organic in Marin County. It was SOOOOOO good. I recommend the "Cookie Dough" flavor, which also has strawberries in it. The ambiance was casual but slightly upscale. The service was excellent. Our server had me wanting to order one of everything (and we did order a lot)!

Food was delicious and service was prompt and very accommodating. We were seated outside and it was perfect ambience. I ordered the Roasted Corn Soup and Tuna and for cocktails, I enjoyed the Bloom and Blush very good! Overall, highly recommended... by the way prized reasonably.

Super delicious pizzas!! Definitely worth trying them all but their classic cheese is definitely my fave. They also have a full bar with some awesome cocktails. The staff is super friendly and they have a great outdoor patio for people interested in outdoor dining!

Ducked into this place on Saturday before a concert, and were able to be seated immediately at the bar. There, Antonio took care of us with some delicious mixed drinks. I got the First Class which was so good it was gone before I knew it! My wife got a Cucumber Mint Spritz which was refreshingly not super sweet. I finished the night with a classic Old Fasioned and it was made perfectly. For food we had the roasted carrots (delicious) and an extremely good pizza. It was the Sopressetta Salami pizza and it hit so hard. I only wish there was a bit more of the calabrian chili sauce, but damn t was it good! There was a good amount of seating indoors and at the bar, and also some more outside. It filled up real quick as we were eating so I'm gonna assume a reservation is recommended.

Really nice restaurant, we went to celebrate our coworkers birthday here and pleasant experience; great food, wonderful ambiance, and Joel our server was great! We'll come back again! Thank you

Second time here for brunch! The food is fresh and ambience is nice, open and friendly. Vegan vegetarian options are also available. The servers are extremely accommodating.

Made a reservation for lunch on their patio and it was so perfect! Food was stellar - I had the ahi tuna crudo and there were so many delicious flavors with orange, fennel, avocado! We also shared the deviled eggs - so good!! And the salted chocolate chip cookies - so small but delectable and easily dunked in the perfect fresh brewed coffee that I ordered (their coffee is fantastic)! Service was excellent and the experience was great. We felt well taken care of!

Are the pizzas big enough to share?

Definitely. It would be a lot for 1 adult. Good for 2 adults or 2 kids and an adult. Delicious!

Can we bring a small dog to eat outside in the patio?

    Yes you can!:)

What kind of oils does the kitchen use?

I like an answer from the Gather kitchen staff too. But if I'm going to take a guess..... most "organic" restaurants use canola oil. The mom-and-pop restaurants, operating on a shoestring, use soybean oils or a blend like corn/soybean or corn/canola… Read more

Can I bring my dog to the outside patio? Traveling with my small dog and just wondering. Thanks!

I've seen a few folks with their dogs on the patio and they were not small.

Do they offer any mimosas for brunch on the weekend?

    Yes they do

    Do you take reservations?

Gather does not take reservations at this time, but notes in their website that they rarely have long wait times.

Is there a corkage fee? If so, what is it?

It's $20 per 750ml bottle and a minimum of two bottles per party.

Hi, what are the vegan entree options on the dinner menu?

According to the current menu, they are: Grilled Baby Cabbages, Heirloom Grains Cooked Like Risotto, and the Spicy Tomato pizza! There are also many vegan starters.

Are there gluten free options for food?

Yes! We also mark GF on our menu next to all gluten-free items. Our current dinner selection is mostly gluten free or can be made with no gluten, and our lunch and brunch menus are about 50/50.… Read more

The line does get pretty long on busy nights after big events like concerts, but it tends to move pretty fast. I've tried their Artichoke, Margherita, and Vodka slices which are all solid choices. Each of their slices are huge and great for the price of ~$8! Personally, I find their pizzas to be a bit on the heavier side with their generous amounts of sauce, but great if you're in the mood for some mouth-watering greasy saucy pizza. They operate on a grab n go service, but there are seats and a few standing tables outside. Overall, definitely a pizza spot worth going to when you're in Berkeley!

For one it brings back so many good memories, Blondie's always makes me happy. The second reason is they now have 100% BEEF PEPERONI! You heard me, 100% BEEF PEPPERONI! For some people that's not a big deal. For someone who hasn't eaten pork their whole life & always has to avoid getting pepperoni on their pizza, its a HUGE freaking deal. I love, love, love when the rare occasion happens that I get to enjoy BEEF PEPPERONI on my pizza. OK besides that, the pizza is amazing. I was literally closing my eyes and in my happy place the whole time. Now for those that never had BEEF PEPPERONI, please go try it. It is so much higher quality than pork pepperoni, so I've been told. I plan to make many more trips in the near future, thats how excited it made me. By the way I loved the cheese just as much, yum yummy. Pro tip: parking is hard, obviously, downtown Berkeley and all. So either walk, Uber, find parking, take the bus, or do as I do and tag team it and drop off a friend to go order for the whole car and drive around until they are ready to be picked up. Do what you have to, just get there. Now go enjoy yourself, you can thank me later.

The staff were incredibly courteous, welcoming, and helpful throughout the visit. I actually arrived about 30 minutes earlier than my reservation time, and they were kind enough to seat us early, which was a really nice touch. One thing I really like about this place is that they update their dishes a few times a year, so every visit can feel a little different and exciting. The menu has great variety, especially when it comes to pizza styles as you can choose from New York, Sicilian, Detroit, and Grandma-style pizzas, and the pricing is very straightforward for all the sizes they serve. The pizza was perfectly cooked and tasted great. They also allow you to customize your pizza by adding or removing ingredients, which makes it very convenient for everyone to choose based on their liking. And they add toppings with open-heart. The pasta was also excellent. We ordered the Peperoncino pasta, and it tasted amazing. The garlic flavor and breadcrumbs were really the highlight and brought out the authentic character of the spaghetti. Another big plus is that they have plenty of vegetarian options, making it easy for different dietary preferences. The portions are generous and the prices are very reasonable for what they serve. Food arrived quickly, and the service from the servers and staff was great throughout the visit. The restaurant also has plenty of space and handles reservations well. The atmosphere is lively with lots of people around and students from the nearby university, which adds to the downtown Berkeley energy. A little more upbeat music could add even more charm to the place. Overall, this is a place I would definitely recommend to anyone visiting Berkeley.
