Great experience! My daughter wanted a conch piercing. As soon as we entered we were greeted immediately, by more than one artist, offered water - all very professional and cordial. Came in last week for a type script tattoo that I've been wanting for months. Booking through yelp was super easy. The owner, Dave, was really friendly and responded promptly during our exchange for scheduling. When we arrived, we were greeted by a nice guy who offered us water while I signed consents and we were led upstairs to my artist, Hiro. The space is super clean and open, with semi-private spaces which is definitely a nice touch. Hiro took his time and made sure that I was satisfied with placement. When done he informed me about free lifetime touch ups which is definitely cool! I made an appointment through text for a tattoo but I didn't realize that I never confirmed the appointment so when I walked in, I didn't have an appointment slot. Dave was kind enough to do my tattoo himself since he had an appointment cancellation. This was my first tattoo and the experience could not have gone better. Every single person we came into contact with was friendly and knowledgeable, and although I don't fit their typical customer base (45 year old mom-type) I never once felt out of place. I am the world's biggest baby! Thank god for Lucy! I got both my lobes pierced today and I was feeling dizzy and sweaty, I told Lucy that and asked for water. She thanked me for letting her know and went to get me a water. Next thing I know Lucy is saying, "Sit up, sit up." I had passed all the way out. Fainted, whatever you want to call it. I went to Lala land for, I don't know how long. What a great place! I wanted to get info and he answered it honestly and truthfully. This young gentleman answered my question about getting a pierced ear at a later age for babies. Since I was on Melrose and close to this spot I decided to see how much and if they do baby ear piercing. But the piercer informed me that it's really not a great age to have it done young. This review is mostly for Allen the piercer. I walked in yesterday and asked for piercing prices and one of the guys at the front desk had me sit and wait as Allen was with another customer and he was unsure of the prices, cool no biggie. I sat down and waited, I didn't know what Allen looked like so when he walked out (assuming no one was waiting for him) I didn't notice. 30 minutes later I asked the front if he was still there since I didn't see anyone in the piercing area. Turns out he'd left for the day. They we're all very nice and apologetic which I appreciated. Things happen and they are a very popular and busy shop so I wasn't upset. I walked out and noticed the person who I thought was Allen coming back into the shop. He was supposed to leave for the day but took me in anyway. He explained the piercing process and prices perfectly. Although he was supposed to leave for the day, I never felt rushed. I had come from another shop which told me I shouldn't get a daith piercing bc my ear didn't have the right shape. Allen assured me that he could do it and my ear had a great shape for it. He talked me through the whole process and made me extremely comfortable. The piercing was almost painless and they explained the aftercare very well at the end. I will definitely be coming back for future piercings and maybe even a tattoo. The shop was extremely clean and the atmosphere was inviting, with the whole staff being very friendly. If you look through the portfolios online and in the shop you can see that every style is covered, from traditional to minimal, portraits, and black and white to color. My lady and I have followed Dave from shop to shop and were super thrilled when he finally opened up his own place. If cleanliness is your main concern, this new shop is absolutely spotless. It is the cleanest establishment on Melrose. Upon walking in, you are greeted with refreshments and a comfy place to sit before your appointment (they also accept walk-ins). The artists here are always joking around and playing music. It definitely has a homier feel than most shops. Dave really makes us feel at home when we come in. If we have an idea, he works with it, giving us suggestions when we're not settled on the placement or color, and has even free-handed a few pieces. He is very gentle before, during and after the tattooing process. I can't quite put into words how thankful we are to have such a talented friend in our lives.
