I came here by referral from a friend and i'm so glad I did. I received two of my most neck turning tattoos from the incredible Cristo. Although there was a little bit of a language barrier between us, he absolutely executed both of my tattoos better than I could have expected. Not only was he patient but he allowed me to take breaks and massaged the area every few hours so my back didn't tense up and to alleviate some of the pain in the area. He paid attention to detail beautifully and these are two of my most notable tattoos. I've gotten three tattoos from Cristo and he gave me my first tattoo ever which isn't pictured. I can't wait to get another amazing tattoo from him soon. side note: all of the artists here are great. i've sent my brother to this studio and his artist was amazing as well. i received another tattoo i believe from the owner and his work is top tier too! this studio is 10/10! read more

First, I want to say this is the second tattoo I've gotten from them. Dave is the owner and he's been in the business for a long time. He has years of experience. There are tattoo places opening up all the time and you never know how much experience these people have. Would you want a surgeon that was brand new and just starting out like maybe you're their first surgery? Of course you wouldn't. So why would you get a tattoo from somebody just starting out. I'm very happy with both my tattoos. I really recommend them. read more

I've been following Generation8 on IG for about two years now, so after finally nailing down what design I wanted i made an appointment for myself and my husband. The whole Generation8 crew are super welcoming and friendly. My husband opted for a simple Roman numeral design and Hiro did an incredible job. I went for flowers on my forearm, my artist was Levi and when I say he knocked it out the park I mean he hit a fucking home run. He brought my vision to life and I am beyond happy with the end result. Levi was so kind and a complete sweetheart. I will definitely be coming back for more. Got my eyebrow pierced by Chontel on 4/25/25. I was extremely nervous when I got there, but Chontel had such a genuine and kind nature that I couldn't help but feel less stressed. She was very knowledgeable and talked to me about the healing process before we got started and then explained to me each step she was taking and why. She had an apprentice with her but I unfortunately don't remember their, though I was just as impressed with their bedside manner and kindness. Overall the vibe was top tier and it went much smoother than I anticipated. Definitely recommend going here, not only did my piercing look great but they hyped me up and made me extremely comfortable:) read more

Brought in my daughter for earlobe piercing while we were in LA on vacation. She was excited but nervous! Shop is clean and cozy. Mikey was extremely professional and kind, guiding her through every step of the process and being very patient with her. He explained post care to both of us with great instructions. Second tattoo Ive gotten done from this shop. I always request Bruno (@dotwork_inkstudio)! Contacting them is pretty simple and straightforward. I've never had any issues with this shop. The staff at the door greet me and ask if I'm here for an appointment. Bruno himself has been so nice as well. Just nothing but good things. I've paid by cash and card. No cash discount. Parking is not available. You either have to pay on the street or if you go into one of the near by neighborhoods, you can attempt to snag a spot. Will be back! I've been getting tattoos here for years, but this last session was my best experience. Levi Ross is not only an amazing artist, but he was very personable, accommodating, and communicated the process the entire 7 hours I was there. The front desk man, Irving, was also very helpful. I am really happy with my tattoo and the overall experience at this shop. Every time I've come, I've left blown away by the talent there. My only gripe was that the tables were really uncomfortable. The padding was really thin and I think sitting on that hurt more than my tattoo haha. I also felt bad for the artist having to bend over in awkward positions for a lot of the session. I wish there were adjustable, more padded tables or seats that I've seen/experienced in other shops. Other than that, great spot, would not hesitate to get another tattoo there. read more

I found this place on Yelp simply because of the great reviews and the work that people posted in the images. I personally like going to Awz who specializes in shading. He's extremely talented and has a great personality; super easy to talk to and has even done dumb little flash tattoos on my when its clearly a waste of his time. He is rad. I've had some other people work on me there and eventually go to him to touch them up and fix them slightly. During the pandemic (and i'm assuming its goinng to happen again), they were VERY serious about adhering to the protocol. When you call them to make an appt they will give a cell phone number to call to make an appointment with through text. It's super convienent and they go out of your way to fit you in if you explain what you want. As with every other business post COVID, their prices have risen slightly but it's worth every penny. My fiancé has a bunch of tattoos and when moved here permanently he was super stoked on the staff, the artists and the ease of making an appointment. We are always happy with our work and the owner makes a point to talk to customers not only to make sure they are ahappy with their work and their artist but also asks for constructive criticism to make sure they are always keeping up with trends and staying relevant. When they opened back up after COVID, their health code reatructions were seriously adhered to. You can't bring a guest in to keep the number of people limited and only have 2 or 3 customers at a time. I always feel completely safe with the cleanliness and professionalism of this place. read more

My partner and I dropped in here before leaving for a trip to get them some new earrings and myself a new septum ring! The vibes of this shop is super fun!! Right off the bat the guys that were in had some fun banter with us, felt very at home there! We did have to fill out some wavers to buy jewelry so plan your trip with that in mind, other then that it was a very smooth experience. Mikey helped us out and he's awesome, he even set up my partners earrings and explained how it worked to them it was super nice! We were able to put them in with no stress! Had a very small tattoo done by Chad and even though it was small, Chad took it super seriously and designed it so wonderfully I was really happy with the end result. Exceeded my expectations. Chad is very talented, precise and gentle. The whole tattoo parlor was also very professional. Took COVID-19 seriously and really made sure everyone felt safe and comfortable. Chontel is THE best specialist for piercings in the Melrose area -- I had to have my ears re-pierced after some discomfort and re-growth after not wearing earrings for a while, and she walked me through the healing process and calmed my nerves during my follow-up when I started to have problems with wetness in the area. Hands down the BEST shop I've been for piercings. I came here on the rec of a best friend of mine who had such a wonderful experience here. The last piercer I went to messed up my nose piercing and was about give up and let it close up till I went here and Brandon let me know what had happened, gauged me down and told me to reach out if anything occurred to it. After trying to book an appt with a shop near me in the Valley and not getting a response, I hopped on Yel and started looking for another shop. VERY happy that I found this place. Response time was great and I was locked in and ready to go within 30 minutes. Shop was clean, processes in place such as temp check, only keeping items I'd need and they put my purse in a sanitary bag that I could carry with me. As I was waiting for my appt, I met the owner and what a great guy. Shared a bit about the closure and more importantly shared about the history of his shop. My appt was with Derrick. Thorough, nice and explained step by step the process. After an hour I was done and happy with the results! Definitely recommend this shop and now I want another!!!! read more

I got my nose piercing here a few months ago with the amazing Allen! Let me tell you out of every piercing I have my nose piercing was the least painful, and honestly Allen had a lot to do with it. He was very friendly since the beginning, and let us film the process. I was born and raised in Hermosa beach California. was influenced by a lot of underground art from the punk rock scene and skateboard industry which I was a big part of as a kid growing up. I started tattooing at the young age of 13 but I had no idea what I was doing at that time but it was something that I was interested In and knew I wanted to do. As I got older I started seeking out great tattoo artist in this process I met the person that would change my life forever. I Apprenticed under him for over eight years he taught me everything from tuning tattoo machines to making needles making our own RCA cords and power supplies converting our own tattoo machines wrapping our own coils and also needle making what is a loss craft today. Whats the cover-up policy here? I have gotten a tattoo here a year and a half ago from here but would like to get something else on it.

Do they do septum piercings?

Yes. But during the pandemic no piercing shops are doing lip or nose piercings at the moment.

My one feedback and note would be to mention that visitors do have the option to "try-on" jewelry if they are torn between sizes or colors of jewelry because I think some newcomers wouldn't be aware they could do that if it's not mentioned. My friend asked to try a couple of jewel sizes and that was really helpful with decision making. (By try-on, you are just holding the jewelry piece up to yourself and checking yourself out in the mirror :P ) They offer titanium and gold jewelry here. Many beautiful pieces. They also sell saline spray (for $15 if I remember correctly) which I picked up since I was traveling and will be traveling again. Lacy pierced me and she was soooo amazing! She was really through with her explanations and I felt very comfortable with her. Everything went so smoothly and it was mostly painless - only a pinch in the process but no discomfort after the jewelry was already in. My friends and I left with super cute nostril piercings! (Im assuming since you guys only carry threadless anyways.) Lacy said the piercings could get expensive when downsizing multiple sizes & when custom jewelry becomes a thing (she gave me an example of hers that have a wide flat back) which i understood. I was never told the jewelry on hand would be so flimsy or else i would have left with a spare set. or why wouldnt that be offered if its a known thing that theyre just going to break soon after? Then 4/28/26 Tabitha texts me & there was no solution so we could agree on so thanked her & left it at that (screenshots attached as well) "waived fees" - crazy cause you guys swear this is something special. when i get my nails done & one breaks theyre quick to fix it FOR FREE & not keep reminding me that breakage could happen nor badgering me that IM at fault for it/knew the risks. Theres no fee to waive if i want to put the jewelry in my own face for free which you guys denied me of because u didnt want to mail them to me. WARNING SEXUAL HARASSMENT: Do not go here for a piercing if you are a woman/femme. Their piercer, Allen, is a creep and sexually harassed me when he pierced my nipples back in February. I regret not finding a female piercer, but I'd been here before to be tattooed and trusted the reviews. Please don't make the same mistake I did. As the piercer was about to pierce my nipple, he leaned in close and whispered "You know, your nipple isn't the only thing that's hard right now..." I was in such shock that I didn't react at first, I think I just didn't want to believe that's really what he'd said. That led him to move in even closer and say, "Did you hear me? I said, your nipple isn't the only thing that's hard right now," and then he shoved the needle through my nipple. He was so distracted sexually harassing me that he pierced it crooked and used an incorrectly sized piercing. I removed it a few weeks later and haven't felt comfortable putting myself in that position again. I was scared and froze after it happened. I was alone in the shop with him and the apprentice. I didn't say anything at the time because I was there by myself and didn't feel safe. I paid and left. This happened in February 2020, but they had my ID on file with my current address and phone number, so I chose to wait and not post knowing I was moving in the next few months. But I feel obligated to say something now. Do not go here. This man should be fired. I'm sure I am not the only person who has had this kind of experience with him. People who feel this comfortable doing something like that don't just do it once. read more

i would not recommend this place unfortunate i waited to review this until my tattoo healed, no i have a tattoo with scarred. i went back to ask to sort it out or refund they said we take care of you and come back when my appointment was up the tattoo was running behind so i need it to reschedule it, my tattoo designer was too heavy and left me with scar and minor infection. never again such a horrible experience this note goes to the owner who challenged my scars when i told him his staff designer was too heavy and didn't use the needle properly: Tattoo scarring and blowouts can be caused when a tattoo artist pushes the needles in too far or at the wrong angle. This results in the ink going too deep into the skin, causing it to run into unwanted areas. It can also cause scars to develop because the skin has been damaged by the needle. In order to get rid of tattoo scarring and blowouts you can try concealing them, removing the tattoo completely, or healing the scar over time. In order to prevent these conditions you should always use an experienced tattoo artist!! read more

Awesome shop. Did my research to find one that was just right and decided to hit up Sean at Generation 8 and see how it would work out. The process was so easy, relaxed and pretty collaborative. Sean took a bunch of images I had and captured exactly what I wanted. He was meticulous but friendly and relaxed - even before the needle turned on, he had me totally trusting his talent and vision for his work. He really made something that, whether he knows it or not, is completely my style - fantastical but not cartoony, minimal but bold. We came here for Friday the 13th tattoos and we are very happy with the results!! First of all $31 for any 2x2 design of your choice! No other place does that! Also, the owner of the shop made sure everyone was doing okay in the line. He even provided breakfast and beverages! The entire experience was just great from the owner to the tattoo artists. The tattoo artists had open ears to what you wanted and had excellent customer service. One thing I will say is that I do like that they stay open until 2 a.m. It's nice knowing there's a late-night option if you're ever in an emergency situation where you absolutely need a tongue ring. That said, if it's not urgent, I would probably just wait and go to Brown Pride the next day instead. I was greeted by Sam(my name is also Sam) I had a traditional heart in mind, and she was very nice and got Joel who she thought might be an artist that would fit better. When I came back the next day the design was a lot bigger and bolder than I wanted. Joel was very accommodating after setting an appointment and had no problem completely redesigning the tattoo. I decided to go in a completely different direction and the redesign is fantastic! It covers and blends the old tattoo and makes it possible for me to have a cohesive chest piece. I felt comfortable through the whole process, and look forward to fully retrofitting my chest. These pictures are 6 days after the tattoo and it's just about fully head. Thanks Joel!

You know how sometimes after getting a tattoo, you catch yourself looking at it and noticing little imperfections? This was the complete opposite!! The more I look at my tattoo, the more I love it :) She is also SO gentle. I was expecting it to hurt a lot more, but it ended up being a relatively painless experience. The studio was clean, comfortable, and everyone was so welcoming. Overall, for my first tattoo, the entire process was seamless from start to finish. Speaking specifically about my experience, I got two small tattoos. One was simple--coordinates in a basic font--but the other was on the back of my hand, so it required precision and an artist with exceptional single-needle skills. Cesar absolutely delivered. His hand was as steady as a surgeon's, and the line work is unbelievably crisp. I can't stop looking at my hand tattoo--I love it! My ankle tattoo also turned out beautifully, but the clean lines and perfect lettering on my hand have me completely captivated. My mom's and sister's tattoos turned out amazing as well. My sister got a tiny 1" × 1" character that she drew herself, and Cesar brought it to life perfectly--it came out so cute and fun. My mom got an Arsenal crest on her arm, and it looks fantastic. Beyond the quality of his work, Cesar was incredibly responsive, friendly, and accommodating. He even humored us by putting on the World Cup while he tattooed us and regularly checked in to make sure everyone was comfortable throughout the session. I already have some big tattoo ideas in mind, and after seeing Cesar's style, precision, and artistry firsthand, I'm confident he's the right artist to bring them to life. I can't wait to come back for my next tattoos!

I forgot my piercer's name, but he was seriously the best. He was so kind, gentle, and made me feel really comfortable. It was my first real piercing as an adult (not at Claire's ), and it was honestly so quick and basically painless. I'm so happy with how it turned out. He even gave me clear after care instructions and made sure I knew how to go about the healing process. Thank you again for such an incredible experience. Highly recommend this place

I just happened to be visiting from Texas, so it seemed like a great way to celebrate the weekend! She mentioned that she had talked to Chris & that it was his idea. Not only did Chris come up with a clever & creative idea for us to mark the occasion, but he went all out. He drew up the exact chainsaw from the movie, matched the color & even added some blood on the blade. I love it! The shop is traditional cool, with great flash and amazing original framed artwork & taxidermy peppered about. It was clean, well lit, with a relaxed atmosphere. Chris was completely professional, precise and incredibly quick. He was fun to talk to & made me feel completely at ease. I would definitely go back to him again!

Their tattoos turned out great (different artists did theirs) and mine just is the worst tattoo I've ever seen. There's absolutely nothing I could like about it and I don't even know how it could get fixed. Idk if the guy was tired but he did seem pretty over it. He changed the colors from the design (without asking me) because he wanted to give me something more unique..it's definitely uniquely terrible.This really looks like it was done by someone who's never tattooed before. Every time I look at it, just makes me feel like sh*t. Please just choose not to tattoo someone if this is the quality of work you're going to produce.
