COST: $40 (Nose Piercing) $50 (Stud I chose. Obviously price will vary) $8 (Saline Solution) I'm bored in the house and I'm in the house bored so I've long wanted a nose piercing. I don't think I'm quite the ear piercing guy, so I went for the nose! This place was recommended by a friend, and I'm glad I went with her recommendation! I had one of my best friends go get one and the bar inside the nose always kept sticking out of his nostrils and it was GROSS! BRENDAN was super helpful and walked me through the entire process. I raised my concerns about the bar sticking out and being visible. He said it'll not show, and it is NOT! A true professional and a chill dude. He'll walk you from picking your studs and then telling you how to take care of it. I'll be back in a couple of months for a checkup on the swelling but if you're looking for piercings (and tattoos), this IS the spot! EDIT: everyone in there and their staff is super nice by the way!!! Can't recommend enough. read more

Got my first tattoo today at generation8 and the piece turned out really nice! Everyone was also really friendly. Docking 1 star because I felt the price was a bit up there for the size and type of tattoo I got. Don't get me wrong I'm really happy with how the tattoo came out but definitely a bit overpriced for the actual piece I got. I thought it would take no more than 1 hour for the whole process and it ended up taking about 30 mins for the sketching and design part which is just 2 simple fine line flowers with some small shading and about an hour or less for the actual tattooing itself. The tattoo is a very simple flower design and only about 2 inches in size. I was charged $300 which is a very high in my opinion compared to other shops, especially for something so small and simple. read more

I effing love this tattoo place. It is so easy to make an appointment, and Dave is always incredibly accommodating to people's schedules. I got 3 of my tattoos from Joshua Koester, who is an incredible artist and general human being. Josh is amazing with single needle work. Even though his portfolio consists of very colorful and cartoony creations, he is also effing talented with realism. For my first big tattoo, he was super meticulous on sketching out ideas for what I envisioned, and incredibly patient with my notes. Because this tattoo carried a significant meaning for me, we went back and forth a couple of times besides agreeing on a design. And honestly, I couldn't be happier with the results. For my next 2 tattoos, I literally decided to get some lettering done, the morning of. I came by myself on a whim, and so I was super nervous. Josh was incredibly soothing & assured me that it was going to be great. Ugh, I honestly can't rave enough about how great Josh is. His linework is so detailed, his designs are intricate, and he's an interesting person to chat with while he's working. Also! Generation8 does free touch ups!! What a plus!! Parking is available in the back. It looks sketchy AF, but it's right behind the parlor, and you can enter through the back door from there. read more

Dave is a died in wool, pure artist. His superpower is that he is like a human HEX code, a master ink mixologist. Taking what I had to skin tones was no small feat in the slightest. I go to Dave for all things, all shades color, clean lines, black work, outlining you name it. Dave is like the "go-to" plastic surgeon who fixes everybody elses poor workmanship. And to top it off, Dave just doesn't fix crap and turn it into a deep richly colored portrait of whatever your mind can imagine and then steps it up a bit more, Dave also regularly steps in and creates masterpieces from the skin's blank canvas and builds from there. I feel super bad leaving a 2 star but honestly to mess up something so small makes me feel really bad. I got a moon that looks like a banana, my sun is not a perfect circle, and the star is not even symmetrical. I'm not sure how someone can mess up such simple shapes and I know they offer free touch ups but I'm too scared now. What sucks is that my friends also got tattoos done by the same person and theirs turned out perfect. I'm not sure if it's because I went first he was still warming up? I came here all the way from Maryland to get a tattoo done by Jessie. He is extremely knowledgeable, easy to get along with, quick and easy. He has what I like to call "magic hands" because the way he has you late makes for an easy tattoo experience that's almost painless (sure placement of the tattoo helps a lot as well specially if it's in a more fatty tissue area) he's quick and he may seem as if he's rushing you he's not, he just been doing this for a while and is ready to put his hands to use for creativity. The shop looks small on the outside but through the back glass door there is a whole other part to it. The parlor areas are well kept and sanitized and the pricing are very reasonable $200 by the hour, and that time starts once the needle begins, not at the consultation. I came in for a piercing that I've been thinking about getting for a while. Most shops are still closed in my home state of Maryland so I decided to go through with it while visiting California since a few shops were open. I had to call three different shops, one was temporarily closed and the other didn't have availability. I used Yelp reviews and social media to help make my decision. Generation 8 was my third choice only because most reviews were for tattoos. So I wanted to make sure I submitted a review for my piercing service. The staff took many COVID-19 precautions. Temperature checks for both me and my piercer, masks required, sanitizer provided on arrival, cell phone was sanitized, they even provided protective bags for purses but since I was wearing a small Fanny pack I didn't use one. I have a few tattoos and other piercings so I wasn't too nervous. My piercer was Thomas and he was cool. I wore a dress which wasn't convenient to wear based on where I was getting pierced. I basically had to strip but it wasn't awkward for either of us. I was thinking I'd be given a sheet or something to cover up but I wasn't and that didn't bother me. I'm sure if I wanted/needed one, it would have been provided. The other staff was cool and accommodating too. From the person to took my appointment to the person who helped me get checked in. Everyone was nice. I was given aftercare instructions as well as cleaner for the initial washing. They had cleaner you could purchase from them, it was $10 I think. Amazon or other retailers were suggested as alternatives. I was flying back the next day so I opted to purchase on Amazon so I wouldn't have to check my bags. I paid with cash, my total was $ 70 for my piercing service ($40) and jewelry ($30). Card was also an option. The price was reasonable. I parked at a meter on the street in front of the shop. I paid .50 cents for 30 minutes but I was out in 20. The shop windows were covered in yellow painted wood. Not sure why or if this is temporary but it's right next door to the barbershop. Generation 8 also offers lifetime service regarding their jewelry or services which is a plus! A shop at home charged me $10 to just remove their piercing that was stuck. That rubbed me the wrong way so I'm glad Generation 8 stands behind their work! I would recommend this business to anyone looking to get pierced. I would post a pic of my piercing but it wouldn't be appropriate lol! But this is day 3 and it's looking good :) read more

After emailing over my concept, I was able to lock in an appointment in 24 hours (which I was questioning at first because I'm used to waiting monthssssss for my artist). I made sure to confirm my appt via text on the morning of, and once confirmed I headed down the construction filled streets of West Hollywood to Gen8. Whomever I was in contact with didn't provide me with my artists name before I arrived but the person at the front desk was able to locate me with no issue. My artist (Hiro) then set up rather quickly & we began. My concept was rather simple, but Hiro's lines are cleaaaaaan! He's definitely one of the more gentle artists I've had work on me and I would love to be tattooed by him again in the future. Overall, my experience with Gen8 was great and I highly recommend them if you're looking to have some work done. I only wish they had a parking lot but I didn't have an issue finding street parking on a weekday. read more

I'm glad I found this tattoo shop with great reviews on yelp. It didn't disappoint, so I'm adding another 5-stars! I messaged the business through yelp for a same day appointment before it opened. Not sure how soon someone would read the message, I called when the shop opened and was booked with Ty. Shortly after, Jackie returned my message via text. I like the shop's efficiency and Jackie's helpfulness. I sent her my picture so she could forward it to Ty. My friend and I were greeted and offered bottles of water when we walked into the shop. I filled out paperwork while Ty tweaked my picture of the fire and water elements a bit. About an hour later, he was done drawing and got started on my tattoo. Ty was gentle and quick considering the small details. I was surprised (and thankful for no more pain) it took about 1 1/2 hours to complete and the price was reasonable. The best part...all the gentlemen in the shop were organized and sanitary. I watched as Ty covered his desk, my arm rest, and bottles with plastic wrap. He wore gloves and pulled out sterilized, packaged needles. His tattoo certification was on his desk in clear site. I love the finished product and can't wait until it heals so I can update my pictures. I may even be back soon to get the other shoulder done with the air/earth elements. :) *Just an FYI...artists take credit cards as the site states. However, they prefer cash. Found Bruno on Instagram and fell in love with his work. Was able to book an appointment onn pretty short notice. Booked the appointment through the shop assistant who's phone number I received from Bruno on Instagram. When I got there for the appointment I went over what I wanted, it was work based on one of his previous designs but with a few changes. He was able to draw up the design pretty quickly and was quite friendly. The tattoo turned out absolutely stunning and he gave me a small aftercare kit too. The only thing I had issues with was the parking situation. Unfortunately my appointment was on street sweeping day and so street parking was limited to 2 hours. Since I had a 6 hour appointment, this meant moving my car 2 hours in. Luckily after those 2 hours a spot opened up that wasn't limited in time. I'd highly reccomend finding a pay for the day lot nearby just for peace of mind. They WILL ticket if you don't move your car. read more

It was my first experience, booked for a tattoo appointment at 5:30. But with the pandemic, there were different procedures and it was only the third day since LA county opened the tattoo parlors. I can tell you, the people who work from the front desk all the way to the owner of the place. The most amazing people I have ever met since I moved here. So professional! I had to wait for over an hour and the owner got me with another tattoo artist to get my piece done. On top of that, they gave me two tokens for a discount for the next time. I did my tattoo with nana. Im not kidding, I barely felt anything! The most gentle tattoo artist I have ever encountered! And to my surprise she told me, yes we are not charging you since you waited for over an hour. Seriously I have no words, this place is beyond amazing!
