Listen: If you roll up into a mall food court expecting your taste buds and senses to be blown away, you're gonna have a bad time. If you expect some sort of going-that-extra-mile type service, you're gonna have a bad time. If you want something filling and food coma inducing, this is it. It's $11 for a bowl and it's up to you and your skills to get your stack up and get your money's worth. Sometimes I'm able to squeeze a second meal out of it, depending on how well I can get my bowl to stack. Luckily for me my girlfriend is especially good at this, so I usually just let her take care of it for me. The noodles here have a nice satisfying chew to them. The blend of sauces they use really give everything a nice flavor. I usually tell them to lay on the garlic and chili. Of all the things the Brea Mall food court has to offer, I have to say that this is the place I pretty much only eat at because of the portion. The ingredients are pretty much always fresh too because of how busy they are. I've never experienced bad service here. You literally just give them money, you get your ingredients, they cook your food, and you eat it. What more could you ask for? read more

I cannot remember the last time I ate at Gengis Khan. I used to eat this all the time early/late 2000. Lakewood and Cerritos mall was the spot for this after school. Anyway. I was out Christmas shopping at Brea mall, and was craving gengis khan noodles because I haven't had it in so long. The lines were already forming after it just opened. I'm not surprised because there's always a line for this place. I got my bowl, packed it with protein and veggies then the gentleman/cook at the end of the line topped it off with noodles and sauce of your choice. I always add garlic and medium spice to my noodle bowl. When it was my turn for my food to get cook, the cook tossed in more noodles. The food came out hot, and fresh. I couldn't wait to sit down and eat it. When I took the first bite, all my expectations went down the drain. The food had no flavor whatsoever. Perhaps I should've gotten extra spicy to turn up the flavor or maybe it was because the cook added too much water during the cooking. It watered down the flavor. I'll give it another shot next time and I'll try extra spicy. read more

I was in town and craving Gengis Khan so decided to stop by the Brea Mall. I haven't been back here since covid started so i was excited to eat the food again. They provide their guidelines on a sign right on the center of the floor once you step in. Tables are spaced out nicely and there is no more chairs for the bar stool sides. Now, on to the food! The ordering has changed a bit here as they now pack the bowl for you, no longer self serve. It makes sense, but kind of sucks because they don't really try to pack it all in for you. As soon as you get closer to the end, the portions of the items you choose become smaller and smaller. Near the end they usually have crushed chilli peppers and sesame seeds out to sprinkle on your food, but now those are boxed for you (ask for em at the register). Also, they're no longer using trays, so be ready to get handy. Overall food was still good, I enjoyed it. One last thing I noticed about the food court, not all restaraunts are open. Had dinner here with my wife and kids today, and overall we really enjoyed it. The food was tasty, flavorful, and the portions were generous. It did feel a bit pricey especially when dining with a big group but the quality and flavors were exactly to my taste, so I can't complain too much. The staff were also very kind and attentive, even though the place was quite busy, which we really appreciated. I'd probably come back again, maybe just with my wife next time for a more affordable (and quieter) visit. read more

I've been missing Gengis Khan ever since it closed in the mall where I grew up. So I was super excited to find this location. Too bad it went from a cheap place to eat to an expensive place but the portions are still really good and the taste hasn't changed. This place gets packed during lunch so you gotta come early or late. When it gets real busy the start to neglect cleaning the grill and your food gets burnt pieces in it. Located inside the food court of the Brea Mall. They don't let you decide what sauces you want. The cook puts the sauce in depending on if you want it spicy or not. So spicy ended up being too spicy for me. The bowls are small, so bring your best stacking skills! A small soda is $3.11 with no free refills. When cooking, even though there is sauce in your bowl already, they douse it with water thus drowning out the flavor. So the end product ended up being a flavorless spicy meal. I love Mongolian BBQ. The host/cashier, Brian is a gem and a breath of fresh air at the Brea food court! The food is delicious and at a fair price, $15 for an all-you-can fill bowl. The staff is friendly and keep the line moving at a quick pace. Recommend for a quick meal while shopping. read more

It's weird, at random times I crave Mongolian bbq and it sucks that most of them are located only at malls... Typically when I frequent the food court at the mall, I usually see a line at this place. And rightly so. You pay 10 bucks for a mound of food. You get a bowl and can stack as much meat and or veggies as you want. Towards the end, the people standing by the grill will top it off with noodles. The portions are large enough to feed two people and if you get all protein (meat) it should be a really filling meal. They add sauce and garlic to your noodles to make the flavors pop out more. Protip, when putting meat into your bowl, try to decompress the meat so you can add more items. read more

Love it! Will drive 20 minutes to just get it from here. Since it's at the mall and I usually go during lunch or dinner food is always getting replenished and they stack it high, you pay for what you would like to order and then you move down the line and put stuff in your bowl and then the people working the stone will add the noodles and they will ask if you want anything extra as far as oils Chili's or garlic. Going with the spicy is always a win and it is hot as hell when you get the food tray back. Large drinks large portions not a huge price and you will have left overs. Like two extra servings of left overs. Not a bad thing because it always tastes great. Might have to go for lunch tomorrow too. There's usually a pretty long wait, up to 20-25 minutes when it's busy, but if you're starving after waiting for hours for your significant other to finish shopping at H&M, it's well worth the wait. They allow you to build your own bowl, filling it up with as much meat & veggies as it can hold. The bowls are kinda small, so a trick I use is to line the meats sideways and as flat as possible to to create a meat bowl within the real bowl, & same with the veggies so you get a bowl in bowl within another bowl. The bowlception with the large heap of noodles they give usually results in a gigantic meal which I can't finish even half. But the best part? It's only around $10. If Genghis's army was as large as the portions here, it's no surprise how he was able to conquer Asia. read more

Well, I have to be honest it took me a while to get in line, I watched a lot of people through the months, and it was quite intimidating. But I got in line with the help of strangers and the customer service behind the counter. Everyone was sweet it had everything I love being sprouts and Water chestnuts , shrimp, so with that onto the next, wasn't quite sure I know I don't like real spicy but I like a tang so they were helpful with that. Then the noodles and I didn't know whether I wanted a whole bunch or a lot so it was just so so you know let's just give it a try small bowl. Threw it on the grill. I watched it. It was kind of fun different. The gentleman that was cooking. My food asked if I wanted more noodles so when he asked me that I took his advice and said yes, oh my gosh this was amazing I mean, even after I took it home to eat it. The next day I think it was even better. If it wasn't for the woman in Torrid, I asked her about it. I asked everyone. I'm so glad I tried it. I enjoy it it's different from Chinese food, but it's delicious and when you get home if there's something missing, throw it in yourself. I like those tiny corns so I do that those little things I do at home myself if I feel like tossing it in a bowl also, you know of course when I'm heating it up for the second time, so try it don't be afraid like I did lol. read more

I placed a pick up order online 3/3, picked it up, didn't get home until an hour after i picked it up due to errands. I got home, opened the to go box and no rice and i was not given a drink, the order was placed by my husband under my name, i thought the lady behind the counter had given me the full order. I called immediately, Gengis Khan has one number and they are just pretty much a live answering machine, it is now day 3 and i have not received a call back! I've been leaving one message a day. and the receptionist is of no help! I know it sounds like nothing but a 1 bowl cost 16.99 and a combo with shrimp cost 21.99, It's a lot in today's economy! Eating out is a luxury nowadays, i can easily pick somewhere else to eat, i'm sure other competitors out there will be more appreciative of my money! Great food here for the price too. I think it's a value since they give you a huge portion with great flavors and big enough for 2-3 people to share. The servers are almost all men and they work hard. I used to deal with claims and cooking food with two giant chopsticks will cause work injuries over time. And it is hot for me standing in line so I can see it's super hot for these men. And the people here seem to care that food comes out good and that you get a good portion . Just give a good and decent tip because we know the workers are not paid enough. read more

I added all my ingredients and then told the guy NO SPICY. I was very clear about the no spice. He proceeded to ladle on three different liquids and proceeded to cook. The cook added 2 liquid while cooking. I don't know if there was spicy in those he added or their circular cook stone just has so much spicy residue from everyone else's stuff, but my food was basically inedible. First off, I love noodles. This place has EXCELLENT noodles. I would suggest getting the combo. It comes with a drink, rice, and soup for only a buck or 2 more than just the noodle bowl. People like to use the napkin you get to push down the meat but I like to use the meat to build an inner wall around the bowl and then get all my veggies in. After I'm done with that, I get everything (the garlic, soy sauce?, and lemon juice) extra spicy and ask for extra noodles, obviously. I usually tip $1 when I get extra noodles and when I have cash with me. This definitely isn't a healthy choice for a meal but ohmygosh...I don't care hahah. I love this place. Keep in mind this is enough for me and my mom to finish and be full....we don't eat the rice. read more

This place has great quality meat and noodles and the price really isn't too bad for what you get. You just have to make sure the cooks add more noodles, some are hit or miss. I've had to ask for more noodles because they definitely didn't put enough sometimes and one tried to ignore me when I asked so I had to tell him twice. They have turkey, pork, chicken, and beef I usually get beef chicken and pork. The veggie selection is good, I get it with garlic and spicy. The set up is like every other one. The cashier is quick. The quality is okay. The bowls seem smaller than other locations? And topping options seem less than others. Options are: Meats: beef, chicken, pork, Turkey Veggies/fruit: green onions, onions, cabbage, minicorn, those crunchy white things(watercress??), carrots, green bellpeppers, bean sprouts, mushrooms, pineapple, tomatoes, broccoli and I am not sure what else You can get it mild, medium, hot, and with/without garlic and one other sauce. But the quality is good and the people who cook it are super friendly and make sure to cook everything thoroughly and well (: They take tip! The name of this establishment describes the portion size you get here accurately Gengis Khan! This establishment allows you to pack as much meat as you humanly can in a bowl. The proteins they have are Beef, chicken, pork, and turkey. Once you've packed as much meat as possible in your bowl you can add numerous of other toppings including onions, mini corncobs, mushrooms, vegetables, and after that they plow a mound of delicious noodles. Once you have created your large sized portion off food you just wait until the cooks can throw your made order on a stone grill. They season your meal with either mild or hot sauce or your choice. Personally the hot wasn't that hot, but I also love hot spicy food. The flavor of the seasoning was quite delicious. You can also ask the cooks to add more noodles to your meal while they are cooking your compiled bowl creation. After it's cooked the cooks will put it in a styrofoam platter box ready to eat. Make sure to tip your cooks at the end! You can also add sesame seeds or chile flakes on top of your meal to finish off with some flavor. Honestly you could split your meal with one other person because I have never seen anyone finish their entire meal on their own. One bowl is only $9.99 which isn't too bad because it could easily feed two mouths! Definitely a good spot that I will return to! read more
