One of the kids in our party went off to use the restroom, and we had to wait until he was done to get seated. Also, the servers that work here were pretty awkward. Thank goodness Genki is a kaiten-style restaurant so we didn't have to deal much with that. What's so cool about this Genki is that you can also order food via ipad, and its delivered on the bullet express. Very convenient, yet its easy to drop money. Found my self in Kaneohe and wanted a quick sushi snack. I thought I haven't been to Genki in a while so I stopped for lunch. I remember when you used to order spicy tuna and it would come out overflowing in the rice. Not so anymore the price is higher and the quantity is barely there. Then I ordered a spicy tuna temaki which I found out barely had spicy tuna on the first half and. One in the second half. I also ordered a California Temaki which was ice cold. So I complained to the manager and they took off the California roll but not the spicy tuna because I ate more than half of it. I responded that the first half actually has a couple of pieces of fish in it not the second. Anyway now I remember why I haven't been to Genki for so long because they suck!! read more

I hurts me to write this because in the past, we have enjoyed our experience at this location. We were so disappointed with our most recent experience at this location. As another Yelper mentioned, my husband and I were ignored for about 5 minutes. It was this past weekend during the mid-late afternoon. There was a young lady at the register with no name tag and another female server (who I'll refer to as "C") at the front when I walked in. There was no eye contact and "C" actually walked by me at least 4 times (I was the only person standing there) and made no eye contact or greeting whatsoever. The restaurant was not busy at all with many open seats at the bar and several booths available. When I was finally approached, I was told that there was a '5 minute or so wait". We were seated at the counter next to the doorway to the kitchen. Service was mediocre. The restaurant was filthy! After finally being seated and "C" actually taking our order, it took forever for us to actually get what we ordered. We would have understood if the restaurant was busy but to wait for more than 20 minutes for a tempura sushi dish and having to ask about our order and hearing the male server go into the kitchen to ask for our order (that wasn't being prepared) was another disappointment. We also requested hot tea when we were seated and "C" took our order but did not receive it until we were almost done with our meal. The food on the conveyor belt did not seem fresh. There was a fried salmon collar dish that I tried that was stone cold and there were sushi plates that traveled around from the moment that we sat down until we left. We observed dirty dishes stacked on both booth tables and around the counter seats that sat there through almost our entire experience. The dishes that were at the seats next to me were addressed only after I snapped a picture of the stack of dishes and trash. The kitchen floor had trash all over it, (no one swept it the entire time we were there) and the cupcake boxes were left open and out on the table right inside the doorway. With the price increases, substandard service and and lack of cleanliness of the restaurant, I would have to think twice about spending my money here again anytime soon. There are other Japanese restaurants in the area (not sushi) that provide a far better overall experience than what we experienced at this Genki location. The only reason for the 1 star rating is because the young man who assisted us with following up with our order did it promptly and when the food finally arrived, he was apologetic and served us our tea. "C" really did not follow-up on our order at all. It was a very sad, not worth it experience. read more

My son brought me here to eat some good sushi tthat he had here.I had been to other conveyer sushi places but not here.It was crowded but we got seated.They had my favorites like ahi,shrimp, hamachi,egg, ikura an manago.My son ordered a dish new to me,soft shell crab that I never knew about.Some of the sushi didn't come to us,the premium sushi was taken by customers seated at the other side of the conveyer belt who had first pick at the sushi,we were on the far end an waited till premium sushi arrived.Good info the next time I eat conveyer sushi. I think this Genki is a solid 3 star experience. I really don't know how many stars a Genki sushi branch can really get because it's conveyor belt sushi at most. I think service was 4 stars though: super friendly, attentive and responsive. And we had 2 kids with us so we had to order all sorts of stuff. The food was as you'd expect. I wouldn't do too much of the exotic food because who knows the quality of it but the regular stuff was solid. And what I've found is that if you order it, it comes a lot fresher than if you just wait for it to come around. So the trick was, get the kids' food from the conveyor belt and order yours! They can start eating immediately (I mean heck where else can you do that!) and you can get fresher food. I ordered a spring bean tempura roll and it was surprisingly yummy and this one had fresh nori! It even crunched. So I could tell it wasn't just sitting around all evening. They have all sorts of cooked food too: teriyaki chicken bowls, garlic chicken (it's deep fried), agedashi tofu, keiki bowls (spam, hot dog, egg on rice), gyoza....so just check out the menu and you can get a good mix of hot cooked food and sushi too. It's located in the back by Longs. Only a few large booths, otherwise you gotta eat on the bar area. So if you have a large group it might be tough, but they do have a few booths for larger groups. Bathroom is down the hall outside so just be prepared if you have to go. read more

Always liked this "fast-food" style sushi. Don't expect a fancy five star sushi bar, but it's also not really low quality. The prices are fair, they don't really stock the belt when I go (normally during slower times) but it doesn't really matter with the new iPad ordering system they have now. Service is way faster than before. The hot food I order always comes out hot and the sushi is never warm. Dessert is your basic cupcakes (which look cute) and ice cream. But if your craving sushi and looking for a fast fix, you should definitely come here! Spicy tuna and garlic salmon will always be my fave. 4 stars because everything is good, but I feel like the tables often feel sticky and majority of the time there's food under the counter/tables. read more

I've been to this particular genki in windward city shopping center more than a few times in the past 2 weeks. It's fast, convenient and provides me with decent/cheap sushi during my hour long lunch break. I've never had problems with service at this location. There are plenty of seats, both counter and table, and the servers are always attentive. I've also only had to wait for a seat once, because usually it's pretty empty during lunch. I don't usually get things off the conveyor belt and opt to order off the menu instead. But I noticed the sushi maker guy consistently adding things to the conveyor I like the spicy ahi, salmon and scallops. I don't particularly like the kabocha tempura. Their prices also increased recently for the spicy ahi bowl, so I usually go elsewhere when I feel like eating a spicy ahi bowl. read more

Dined in for the first time since lockdown and while their ability to socially distance tables is great, the adherence to mask wearing regulations is sub-par. There were at least 2 employees who were not wearing their masks properly (below their noses). I understand there may be reasons why an employee is not able to wear a mask completely but if that's the case, they should be assigned to duties that do not have them delivering food to customers. I was first exposed to Genki back in the continental US (Seattle area) and really enjoyed it. It's conveyor belt sushi, so we're not talking high-end, but having an inexpensive sushi experience can be a lot of fun. So it was with great anticipation that my wife and I went to the Kaneohe Genki, our first experience of Genki in Hawaii. On the positive side, the restaurant is clean and attractive. We went at dinner time, and the restaurant was full, so there was quite a bit of bustle; but it's a good thing for a conveyor belt sushi spot to be busy, as it makes it likely that what's on the conveyor will be fresher. They have recently installed new technology, including remote control cars and ipads that allow you to special order desired items and have them delivered directly to your spot by the little car. The little girl sitting next to us loved it, and truthfully, so did I. :-) However, prices were higher than I expected (don't know if that's because it's been a while since I went to a Genki or because Hawaii is just expensive). But for what we got, both in quality and quantity, it just wasn't a very satisfying experience. It was fine, but we won't likely be back. There are better options at this price point. read more

We love sushi so the convenience of the location works for us. There is lots of free parking. If you go during peak lunch or dinner times, expect a wait of up to 45 minutes. They have many booths and counter seats but there's always a crowd. Sometimes tables open up but it takes longer than expected for staff to clear and clean the table. The wait staff are pretty attentive when it comes to taking your order. Just be sure to order at the beginning because there is often a long wait for orders to come out- especially fried foods. There have been a few times where we finished our meal without our orders arriving so we told them to cancel it. The food is good- some items are pricey but we just don't order those. The desserts are extremely overpriced- I would never pay $3.80 for 1 cupcake! read more

There is usually a line outside, so it's good to go at non-peak times. However, the wait is usually only 15-20 minutes. The tablet ordering system makes it easy to order at the press of a button, the food comes quickly usually by the bullet train, or some dishes they hand deliver. I'm from Kalihi & yesterday 10/8/17, I wanted to eat Genki's & my sister in law wanted to check out the Genki's in Kaneohe so I was like sure. I usually eat Genki's at the Alamoana, Pearlridge or Waikele location. But comparing Kaneohe's location with the others, I notice the service here SUCKS! I've never waited sooo long for the food to roll out! & They were coming out one by one every 5-10 minutes? Also the waiters/waitresses weren't giving good customer service. When one of them gave us 2 miso soups, she almost dropped one on our table so some of the soup fell out & all she said was "Sorry" Didn't even bother to help wipe the table after or anything?! Also, we had to flag them down to refill our water. Lastly, my bf's cousin was waiting for this tofu dish for a LONG TIME so I asked one of the waitress to check up on it. She was like, "Okay?" wanted so much to support this restaurant but too many things are against them - crazy high prices, early closing times, and now this god-awful ordering process that makes you scan their qr code to order using your smartphone instead of the ipad that they've since discontinued. the staff seemed nice enough, except for the manager who seemed to be in a mood, my "hot" tea was barely warm, and the app that you have to use on your smartphone is so glitchy that it's almost aggravating. i probably won't be returning here any time soon and i wouldn't recommend coming here, i mean if you have to pay that much and work that hard to place an order then you may as well go to one of the other sushi places in the neighborhood that is more upscale. i can understand that finding and retaining good staff must be hard but asking customers to put up with these issues is in my opinion asking too much. read more

Went to genki recently for sit down. They temperature check you first and you need mask for entry. It was fast as genki is "fast food sushi". We ordered spam tamago roll, green bean tempura, tuna wonton special, etc. I was only annoyed when my daughter ordered ice cream, spongebob squarepants popsicle (it was expensive) it came broken already in the package;so one star off for that! One of the most ridiculous experiences dining out. Almost an hour wait to dine in. No napkins or take out condiments given on the tables. Just wet tables. Waiter took orders for drinks. Just gave out chopsticks w/o napkins. It's pretty basic to give napkins with the utensils (and I assumed this business would have plastic utensils in case someone cannot use chopsticks). Someone else comes out not knowing who was supposed to get what. Good thing they send them to the right tables. FFs they didn't even try to guess. Then the food came in random orders one dish at a time. Some came out late even tho it was ordered early-as in we starting to eat dessert late. 3 times a dish came to us that was not ordered by us. We just took it in the end after the kitchen's persistence. 6 times there was 4 different employees passing by and checking on us but not one of them had asked if we wanted anything besides drinks/refills and giving us food items like ice cream/sauces. How does that make sense? Did they never dine out at other restaurants before? Then the employees passing us by to get into the kitchen kept staring at our food as if we were a bother- we didn't pick the last tables to seat us when there was 4 empty tables on the row farthest from the kitchen door-that the employees didn't use. The employees chose to give us those seats. What made me mad was how this restaurant before COVID-19 had a strict policy that everyone has to be present to be seated and they checked too; the party they called before us was late and didn't have everyone present but they didn't compensate anyone waiting behind that party on the list. If you're going to make people wait outside in hot weather and not even make time limits for dining in- then make it worth it. $200+ for a lunch aint worth this level of service. Have some Aloha and teach your staff to make better decisions. read more

Probably the best sushi I have ever had! Service was fast and food delivery using a conveyor belt is pretty cool!

On this visit it was a bit crowded, and it didn't help that they had closed a whole section of 5 tables to spread out their Christmas decorations all over the tables. We had to wait about 5 min to be seated. When we did get seated I had noticed that there were few open seats on the counter. We did tell them it didn't matter if they sat us at the counter or booth, they could have sat us at the counter right away. Instead they made us wait for a booth, although there were only 2 of us. The food taste was regular for a Genki location, but I did think the portions were on the small size compaired to some other locations. read more
