Had a shower drain that was slowly draining over the course of a few weeks but then abruptly on a Saturday afternoon at 3 pm just stopped draining altogether. Requested a quote from Genteel Plumbers through their Yelp page around 5:30 pm and by 11 am the next day someone was in my house to fix it. Marcus came in, did his thing and unclogged the drain quickly. Also, he gave me a wide variety of options if the snaking didn't work which thankfully it did. Also let me know the prices of said options ahead of time. Finally, he gave me some good tips on keeping the drain flowing and why to avoid using drano or liquid plumbr or other similar products. Job was done in less than 20 mins. They say they care about customer service and to me at least for this job it seemed very true. read more

We have used this company for several issues. We had a garbage disposal installed and we were charged a large amount. After posting a yelp review the owner called me directly to discuss the issue. Not only did they look at the reviews to see how they were doing but took the time to follow up to actually resolve the misunderstanding!! I don't know of many companies that will do that!!! They are professional in their work and they do a great job!! Chris is great and Graham the owner is concerned about the work his people provide!! I would use them and listen to what they say!! Broken bathroom sink hot water valve, and no way the thing was budging with the tools I have. Called Genteel Plumbers and they quickly arranged an appointment. The removal and replacement became a bit challenging, as the old valve was completely fixed in place (mineral deposits or rust, I have no idea), and the plumber let me know he would need additional equipment. He returned shortly with some sort of crazy electric saw and literally hacked off the top of the faucet so it could be removed. Installed new faucet quite quickly, cleaned the place up beautifully, and then called to check in several times in the coming weeks to make sure everything was working perfectly. Incredible service, very friendly folks, two enthusiastic thumbs up - will be calling them for our future plumbing needs. Keep up the great work. read more

I contacted this company to install a new kitchen faucet and unclog a drain. They told me they couldn't give me an estimate until they made an on-site inspection. It turns out their inspection takes 30-seconds and then they quote their standard price. The faucet would cost $279 and the clog more then $200. I told them I wasn't interested. I searched further in Daly City and found another plumber on Yelp who charges $150 per hour. He completed both jobs in 66 minutes and replaced some broken parts in my sink. Total cost: $175. It's absurd that a plumber would try and charge me the equivalent of $490 an hour for their services. Either their technicians are so poorly trained that they need many hours to do the same work or they're just ripping off their customers. Took two phone calls to get them to come for an estimate. Which was several times higher than the company I had do the work.

Very disappointed in Genteel Plumbers service. They came to repair a leaking shower pipe and damaged two walls in the process. I realize that they had to go through one wall to get to the pipes but not two. And when they could have gone through the wall in the hall, on the other side of the shower, that is sheetrock, they went through the tiled wall in the shower which is much more expensive to repair. They made holes in the hall wall for no reason which also had to be repaired. When they were done, they left behind two damaged walls, an old pipe left in the shower wall, unsecured shower and shower head pipes (not strapped down). Yes, they repaired the leak but it came at a very high cost. We needed a contractor to come in to patch the hall wall, secure the pipes, retile the shower and install the shower head. They took the easiest route for them and the most costly route for the client by going through the shower wall when they could have gone through the hall wall. And in the end, they damaged both walls!!! read more

It is not unusual for my teenagers to clog the toilet, but I am usually able to clear it myself with a plunger. Last night, however, after 15 minutes of vigorous plunging, I decided to leave it overnight, hoping things would soften up by morning. The next morning, however, there was absolutely no movement, and the water level remained just where I left it the night before (filled to the top). I called Genteel plumbers. I probably paid too much at ~$2,500 to repair a bathtub leak. But they did the work on a weekday evening as requested. Left the bathroom somewhat unsightly with gaps in caulk around tub faucet and water handles and cardboard covering the hole they had to cut in the drywall. I was very impressed with their professional approach from scheduling the appt to following up on details.  The workers offered to wear the cover up booties over their shoes in the house which was great.  They were very knowledgable and efficient.  They gave options and pricing that allowed me to choose the level of service that fit my budget and still solve the problem.  They did solve my problem and even replaced a pipe for free because replacing it wan't in the original estimate but it broke when being removed so they went ahead and replaced it free of charge.  They also answered some other general plumbing questions making me feel like I really got my money's work of service and advice.  I would highly recommend Genteel Plumbers.  Thanks to Cole Hardware for the recommendation. read more

We've had trouble with a reluctant toilet for quite some time. Several plumbers were good at diagnostics, it's plugged somewhere. Really! David Mendoza came in, gave his assessment in three building scenarios so each could be tackled separately without a premium on price when done one at a time. He was very clear about what would need to be done in case he ran into different problems, so I was prepared. David updated me between stages and worked hard continuously until we vanquished. The toilet is no longer. David is polite, clear and articulate and really focuses on the job. While here he also blasted out months of you don't want to know in a bathroom sink, you don't want to know because that crud is in everyone's bathroom sinks, and fixed a shower head. The best thing is Genteel Plumbing sent him the same day I called, right after I called, and he fixed everything with all the supplies on hand so there was no waiting for this or that.
