    Came here for an anniversary dinner on a Thursday night and had a great time! I wish more people were in the restaurant, when we arrived around 6:45, we were the only people! While it's maybe early for dinner, and a Thursday, only one other couple came during the time we were there. I'd hate to see this place go out of business. The service was great! Our server was very kind and friendly. I loved the salad - so fresh tasting and the dried blueberries were a fun texture for an otherwise crunchy appetizer. We had the ramen and the New York strip which were both great in flavor and well prepared. My only complaints were that the wine glass was not practical- filled to the brim and kept spilling... and that I wish the steak had a bit more char on the outside. The inside was a nicely cooked medium though.

    George and Violets is quaint and small. The steak is cooked to perfection and the mashed potatoes were light and airy. Don't skip the Parker rolls they are house-made and incredible. Our server was so helpful and gave great recommendations.

    We love George and Violets. They have made some changes in the the last year that have really benefited them. The ambiance is fantastic. Date night, dimmed room, elegant. Not stuffy though. Their taste is impeccable for decor. The front booths are a little tight for a large person, but in the back no issues. Their service is always on point. We have managed to call for a tables last minute multiple times and get sat within a reasonable window. The food!!! We were sad when they changed from a steakhouse to a fusion restaurant. But their menu has evolved into this beautiful, quality, flavor packed, and versatile options menu...that includes a couple steaks! This is our go to when we want a steak for sure! Anything you order will be tasty! The price is worthy, but it is steep. With cocktails or wine, expect $60-90/person.

    Food was amazing and came out in a reasonable time. Service was great! Cocktail menu looked very interesting. Tried the alcohol free mojito which was delicious.

    Food and service were excellent here. Waiter was so attentive with the water and even in bringing the dessert when I had just finished my steak. I had the 40 day dry aged grass fed ribeye with a side of hazelnut miso butter and spicy bone marrow spread. I actually loved the spicy bone marrow spread better than the hazelnut miso butter. The spiciness was very mild like Jack in the box mild. I really liked the spreadable beef fat with focaccia bread as well. Had to order more focaccia to use up the bone marrow spread and hazelnut miso butter. The bone marrow complemented the beef better. The hostess told me the beef is locally grown about 20 miles away and is grass fed and grain finished. The hostess is also the dessert maker and offered to answer any questions about the dessert if I wanted to geek out about it. The presentation of the dessert was beautiful. It consisted of blackberry sorbet, hazelnut toffee pieces which I was informed is a modified version of what the French Laundry and Bouchon uses, bavarois which is milk folded with whipped cream and set with gelatin with dehydrated hibiscus pieces and speculoos. Sorbet was topped with a white chocolate blackberry flavored flower piece with gold leaf accent. Will definitely be back.

    Excellent steak. Great sauce options. Cozy environment. Friendly staff. My first choice for a local steak dinner.

Lion & Owl, on this particular morning, proved to be both--a place of evident talent, yet uneven discipline, where flashes of brilliance are offset by lapses that no serious kitchen should permit. Let us begin with the triumph. The buckwheat pancakes arrive not merely as breakfast, but as a composition. A stack of admirable loft and structure--evidence of a properly developed batter, handled with restraint and precision. The crumb is airy yet resilient, each bite yielding gently before dissolving into a delicate nuttiness inherent to buckwheat. A caramelized banana sauce pools generously, glossy and fragrant, its sweetness tempered by the cultured tang of crème fraîche. Toasted coconut chips scatter across the top like crisp punctuation, lending both aroma and texture. This is cooking that understands balance--sweetness checked by acidity, softness lifted by crunch, comfort elevated by technique. It is, quite simply, a five out of five dish. The kitchen, here, remembers what it means to nourish and delight. And then--alas--we encounter its counterpoint. The mushroom brioche toast, in conception, should be a study in harmony: buttery bread, earthy fungi, silken eggs, fresh greens. Yet the execution falters at its very foundation. The brioche--so essential, so central--is pushed past the threshold of caramelization into bitterness. In a bread so rich with butter and sugar, precision is everything; overcook it, and the entire structure collapses under a shadow of char. The garnish, too, feels careless--large stems of greenery draped without intention, rather than composed with purpose. It is a dish that looks promising from a distance but betrays its flaws upon inspection. A two out of five--a failure not of imagination, but of discipline. The brie and truffle macaron arrives as an afterthought--set aside, unannounced, uncentered, as though it were a spare utensil rather than a composed pastry. Presentation matters. It signals care. Here, there is none. And the macaron itself? A confection that should whisper with delicacy instead resists with age. The shell is hardened, the interior overly chewy--signs of time having passed unkindly. The flavor is confused: a sweet, almost vanilla shell encasing a mild, savory filling of whipped brie and timid truffle. Neither side asserts itself; neither yields to the other. There is real talent in this kitchen--evident in the pancakes, in the conceptual ambition of the menu, in flashes of thoughtful composition. But talent without rigor is unreliable. And hospitality without coordination is hollow. For every moment of genuine pleasure, there is another of carelessness--overcooked bread, stale pastry, inattentive plating, lapses in cleanliness, and disjointed service. In the end, one must judge the whole, not the highlights. Overall score: 2 out of 5. A restaurant with promise--undeniably--but one that must remember that excellence is not achieved in moments. Busy but they had a table for us. Very nice decor, rotating menu. We had the buckwheat pancakes with caramelized bananas, dates, and pineapple syrup which was sweet but not overly so since the pancakes underneath were not touched by the syrup ended up being a really nice balance. Bacon was like a cross between pork belly and bacon (very thick) but really tasty. Breakfast Sando was good with in-house ground pork and a nice aioli. We also tried the savory macarons (Brie and truffle) which are delicious. Creamy and a tad sweet. Not too much truffle. Coffee was a bright tangy pour over-not my favorite type but some people really like that style. Oh, and we had a blood orange mimosa which was really good Overall an excellent experience! Definitely going to again when we are in town!

    We have some relatives coming in June for our son's Graduation. In need of a place for them to…read morestay, we thought we'd check out Hyatt Place Eugene and their SkyBar in particular. The Skybar is located on the 5th floor of the building along with the Hotel lobby... uh okay. The staff are all very pleasant and accommodating. We went to the SkyBar and found it to be a smallish yet convenient place to wait for guests or visitors along with getting a drink or a bite to eat. The bar looks like it can accommodate about 30 people in the interior. There is a nice outdoor patio that can easily accommodate more when the weather is nice. The barkeeper was very attentive and observant, he took our food and drink requests at the bar and in short order, everything was presented. I had a Moscow Mule that I found to be a refreshing drink. Ginger beer, lime and vodka. An excellent combination. I also had an order of the chicken wings and fries. The fries were a normal shoestring variety, cooked well, nicely salted and came in a metal bowl. The wings I found to be outstanding! I don't usually get wings this well made unless I do it myself. I received 8 wings coated with barbecue sauce on a charcuterie board with the fries. The wings were served nicely hot. The meat was piping hot, juicy and tender. The barbecue coating was a hearty middle of the road sauce, not sweet or too smoky. It was caramelized perfectly for that sticky texture and flavor. Definitely a nice coating. Thankfully the bartender brought us a lot of napkins. The wings and fries made for a satisfying meal. The bar boasts a couple of gas fireplaces that make for a warming environment with a few semi private tables. There is a longer table for a larger group as well as several smaller tables and a few bar stools for game watching. All in all we found the bar to be a cozy semi-private environment, yet available to the guests as they come and go. All around, a nice meeting area and watering hole. We will book our family members for a stay here at the hotel. I'm looking forward to trying more of their specialty drinks.
