Simply the best place to go to in town for breakfast and lunch, staff is great and the food is awesome!

Food was good. Location is perfect. However, they're not equipped for large crowds. Don't go on a weekend or holiday.

Incredibly reasonable prices, friendly staff and good food :) we live in town, but have never been to George's until this past snowy Sunday. Our waitress was attentive and friendly and didn't make us feel rushed as we perused the menu and chalk board behind the counter. They have $2 burgers here. I kid you not. And as my friends said, "They're totally not shady either, perfectly good, delicious burgers." I wouldn't know, I didn't get the burgers (it was 9AM, for goodness sake) but I did get some corned beef hash, two eggs, and wheat toast for a hefty $5. That is truly extraordinary. And for 5 people the bill came to $35. We each had breakfast, each ordered juice, coffee, and/or chocolate milk and we could each do so for $8 or so a person. That's hawt. I should also mention that this place is in the sticks. Sorry to all you Westchester kids, but this place is straight up boonies, yo. I was there visiting a sorority sister (like, totally?!), as I have NO other reason to go that far up in New York. But I really liked the atmosphere here. No frills, that's for sure. The waitresses have been around for a while, along with their clothing and hairstyles, but I am not one to judge. Lying, lying... But apparently this place is a TOTAL hotspot for the church-goers next door. A totally adorable concept to us Jewish folk. The seating was more bench style, not quite a diner, not quite a restaurant either, but perfectly good enough to eat. And they had a bowl of DumDums waiting at the counter. Don't have it in me to give 5 stars because what self respecting diner gives coffee but offers no cream? I realize I'm eating fat, but I want MORE! And the coffee tasted close to ass. So four star for you, George's, but you go on with your bad self, feeding the people of Carmel with your $2 burgers and $5 breakfasts. You go. read more

I've always wanted to stop and try this place when in the area, but because they close at three, I've not been able to try George's. Today I made it! Too bad it's not open later. I would surely go here often. Menu is simple and to the point. Prices are pretty good. Breakfast is priced well below every other place in the area. Food is very, very good. I had acorn squash soup that was awesome. Balboa was a healthy size, and very tasty. My husband had a cheese omelet, which he enjoyed. He usually doesn't eat all of this hash browns, but he polished these off right quick! Can't wait to return. read more

No one will ever mistake George's for a 'brunch' place, and I think that's what makes it so good. It is unapologetic for it's slightly dilapidated appearance, but like a seasoned cast-iron pan, I would be apprehensive if they cleaned it up too much. The food is cheap, good, and reliable, though I must say I have had a cold pancake once or twice. I forgive all these things and more, though, because George's is an institution and for good reason. You HAVE to get a black and white milkshake (vanilla / chocolate combo). I would come here for burgers and ice cream before anywhere else, but sadly, they close daily at 3:00pm. Always go for a bacon cheeseburger, fries, and add a fried egg on top if you're feeling adventurous and willing to get a bit messy. Just good. read more

GP has the best gluten free pancakes I've experienced anywhere, period!!!! By the way, I particularly do not like diner coffee, but I was really expressed with their coffee. It was served piping hot and it DID NOT have that freaking old stale coffee taste. GP is my main go to place for breakfast when I'm in the area. read more

Enjoyed a delicious baked egg dish. Spinach topped by a layer of tomatoes sprinkled with feta the eggs finally covered by very thin sliced toasted bread. Highly recommend it! Love our local diner. They were renovated recently he as part of a TV show. The new decor is awesome. The same great food with a few extra new items. I tried the Caramel Apple waffle. It was delish. It's hard for me not to just get the cinnamon raisin french toast which is my fav but I like ting the new dishes. I see some reviews about nasty waitresses. I habeas no clue who it could be. They always have the same people (mostly family) and they are always friendly. If your mistaking a busy waitress for one who is rude then maybe that's the issue. This was an exceptional place for breakfast. The staff were welcoming and there was a friendliness among the clientele. My wife appreciates real fruit and maple syrup in pancakes and she was well pleased with their offering. I had the Greek omelette which was superb. Growing up in this area, George's Place has always been a staple in this town. It had been about ten years since I had been here, so I just had to head over when I was home visiting family and friends. This place looks exactly the same as it did all those years ago, and the food is just as amazing. If it's not broken then don't fix it must have been George's motto because this place has been running the same all these years. Breakfast and lunch, large portions of great food for a cheap price is what this place is all about, and the service is always great as well. There are plenty of gluten free and vegetarian options for people with diet restrictions too. Whole family were fans of Georges for years. Can't tell you how many new people we had introduced to the place. We also made it a point to support through the pandemic as much as possible (we were worried it would not survive). But things have slipped, to some degree with the food (it's pretty simple breakfast fare), but more importantly the staff. Dropped in for brunch only you be very disappointed in the seafood bisque (some imitation seafood, watery & served luke warm). Sad to say, The corned beef hash had tiny white unseasoned potatoes and some pulverized meat that looked like someone opened up a can of dog food and mixed it together. The breakfast sausage had dried out ends, cracks going down the middle showing how over done it was and may have been recooked once or twice. The replacement sausage was barely cooked. Absolutely delicious! Came here on a Saturday for lunch with my family and had Marie as our server. She was phenomenal. Very attentive, friendly and kind! We ordered a mix of breakfast and lunch.. I had the tuna melt and it was as close to my childhood as you could get. Simple, classic and tasty. All white tuna made with mayo and celery, topped with melted American cheese, sandwiched between buttered multigrain toast, served with extra tangy dill pickle chips. Wow. My mom ordered the classic cheese omelet and a side of French toast. The French toast was perfect. Fluffy, eggy and sweet with a nice crust from the griddle. I love this place because it's real food. It's classic, it's simple and it's exactly what you're looking for. Yes, additional, funky ingredients are also great, but this place doesn't need the extra fancy stuff. It's just plain good food. My aunt and cousin had the Philly cheese steak (which was huge, by the way) and it was juicy, meaty and covered in gooey cheese. If you're in Carmel and you're looking for a classic diner meal, do yourself a favor and eat here. I haven't been here since before the pandemic but It definitely holds many memories eating breakfast as a family, the best breakfasts with choices of variety. Even though I had moved from Carmel I still took my kids back here for breakfast to have family time on an occasional Sunday. I had never had a bad meal here. Even in high school they hung up the photography winners and my picture I got to sit under with my parents and look at it while eating it was a cool experience. I recommend this as a diner experience with excellent food especially the lunch menu. read more

This is a small local diner that has been around forever in the heart of Carmel. I have had the opportunity to dine here on several occasions and have never been disappointed. Always looking to try a new diner and the wife pointed out this place as we were driving by, so we stopped in for lunch. I'm not displeased with the "old attire" of the place, but let's not mistake charm for cheap, I mean it's obvious the owners put the money in their pocket, not the business. That being said, I ordered the meatloaf, it was dry hard and covered with packaged gravy, the mashed potatoes were instant and covered with the same horrible brown gravy, the "roasted veggies" were 90% onions (that is an indication of cheap) there were a bit of broccoli and a slice or two of peppers. My wife had an omelet that was so-so and the home-fries were mediocre at best. All in all I'm not sure if the other reviews are family and friends or just locals taking pity on the place.
