The first thing we noticed was how friendly the staff was. You order up front and sit down and they bring you complimentary cornbread which was so good we forgot to take a pic. Ambiance was OK. I like how they give complimentary corn bread at the beginning of your meal. The honey butter makes it delicious. We tried the gumbo and jambalaya (cup). Gumbo was the right portion to split among two people. The cup was also a good option if you are looking to try something small. Personally preferred the gumbo over the jambalaya. They both were flavorful and had a kick. Friendly and quick service. The music gave the ambiance a southern and soulful feel to our dining experience. Price is a bit on the higher end here. My husband ordered the shrimp & grits. I had a few bites of it and wow, that was really good. It's a bit spicy for him but not too bad. He's a bit of a wimp when it comes to spicy foods :) but I loved it though. I had the Georgia's blue chicken salad with citrus dressing and that was mediocre, The citrus dressing was extremely salty. I asked for grilled chicken instead of blackened and it was a very small portion of chicken and super dry. Service by Yensi, the manager, was very good though. Tried out Georgia's at the Spectrum and really enjoyed the vibe. It's a nice sit down spot where you order at the counter and then relax while they bring the food to you. The interior is beautifully decorated, warm, inviting, and perfect for a casual meal. I ordered the flat iron steak with rice and corn on the cob along with a gumbo dish. This is a small chain of full service, yet fast casual, stores in OC that features Cajun/New Orleans specialties. The menu is extensive, starting with breakfast. This particular location in The Spectrum is near the Regency theater and is their latest opening. We popped in before our movie and were really glad we did. Been wanting to try this new location at the Spectrum. My son is in town from Germany so he wanted to try something very "American" and I thought this was perfect. There's no Southern food in Berlin. It's fast casual so you order from a menu at the counter and they bring the food to you. The interior is light and bright and very clean. There are a lot of outdoor tables so that's a great option. We got the classic chicken and waffles as well as the Gumbo and some beignets for dessert. The service was excellent from the moment we entered until we left. I love Georgia's Restaurant and I usually order their gumbo, smothered pork chops, and collard greens. However, my most recent visit left me feeling very disappointed. I ordered their gumbo to go and there was barely any protein. Gumbo is supposed to be a hearty roux thickened soup with a balance of protein in every bite. My entire serving had 5 pieces of shrimp, 2 very thinly sliced sausage and about 3-4 pieces of shredded chicken. Normally, this bowl of gumbo costs about $23 but I had Toast rewards at Georgia's so my total was $17.80. For what I paid, I felt like I was served a bowl of plain soup with skimpy toppings and rice. They deliver and buss your dishes for you. We got the Piggy Fries for appetizer, then the Jambalaya and the Tilapia and Shrimp Entree. Corn bread is given complimentary as an appetizer. Every single dish was outstandingly flavorful, delicious and hearty. I'm surprised the restaurant was completely empty when we visited on a Tuesday evening. I got the shrimp po boy, we got a kids meal with shrimp and my husband got the fried chicken plate with Mac and cheese. The shrimp in both meals had the soul cooked out of them! Soooo overdone they were dry and super rubbery. The batter was lacking in some flavor as well. Which sucked because the sandwich all together had potential but the main part the shrimp suuucked. For my husband's plate it seemed the chicken and shrimp were battered in same type batter so the same was lacking flavor. His Mac and cheese lacking flavor as well. The sauce on the ribs were not special, but the meat on the ribs was good amount. The food overall was okay. Probably not worth the price they're charging but I get it, location is expensive. The menu was pretty basic with only a few soul food staples, and honestly, I can find better versions of most of the dishes elsewhere at a better price My boyfriend had the fried chicken and jams. While the chicken was fried, it didn't taste fresh, it had more of an oily flavor and just wasn't great. He ate the sides, but didn't finish the meal. We were given complimentary cornbread because we dined in, but it was tiny and didn't taste homemade, more like boxed cornbread. I had the Grilled Creole Shrimp, which was pretty bland. The shrimp and veggies had no seasoning to speak of, and the rice was just okay. I couldn't finish it because it made my stomach hurt almost immediately. We also ordered a slice of pound cake, but after waiting a while to get it, we found out the one at the counter was undercooked or something and never got the piece we paid for. The atmosphere felt too cold and modern to have any real "Southern" vibe. There wasn't even a smell of good food coming from the kitchen, which was a huge letdown. The sides are good that I had but the fried chicken has no flavor at all. My friend had the pulled pork sandwich and it was just super bland and had little to no sauce in it. I also got the gumbo cup and the shrimp is just super mushy pretty much if you got frozen shrimp and threw it in the bowl and how does a gumbo have no flavor as well, had to give it a good few taps of hot sauce to get something going. I placed an online order for the Chicken & Fish Bucket with macaroni and cheese and the salad with raspberry vinaigrette dressing, shrimp basket with fries and for dessert a peach cobbler, beignets, slice of pound cake and a slice of lemon cake. As I walked through the door the staff greeted me and was finishing up my order and offered me utensils as well as the sauces that go with the meal. Once I got home we sat down to enjoy the wonderful meal that we looked forward to trying for such a long time. The fried chicken included generous sizes, delicious seasoning and moist juiciness. Been looking for good southern cooking in the OC for a while and now I've got my spot. The staff were great and helpful with suggestions. The cornbread comes with the meals and was delicious, nice and fluffy. I got the smothered pork chops with bacon gravy, dank! My buddies got the catfish, chicken soup, and chicken and waffles. Southern food is amazing and nothing beats soul food from Nola! I was so excited to try Georgia's but didn't see the "wow" here. Tried their tri tip sandwich and pulled pork and it was okay. Service was decent but not sure how to feel about the restaurant? The restaurant looks like a traditional sit down but you pay first and then find your own seat.
