My husband and I stopped in at Georgia's last weekend for an early dinner. This spot has been here for a year and I had been to the Anaheim location previously, so I had an idea of what to expect. We opted for the Tri-tip salad (no blue cheese) with dressings on the side, a cup of gumbo, smothered pork chops with mac & cheese and red beans & rice. It was quite the meal. We ordered up front and were given a number which we brought to our table. They have condiments on a little side table near the back door to the patio. Our food came out in a steady pace. The gumbo was a delightful size for one person but we shared it. It is not spicy but a little Louisiana hot sauce made it sing. The salad came out with blue cheese, which again, I did not want. My husband brought it back to them and they brought out one without the blue cheese. The smothered pork chops were delicious. The mac & cheese was on point. My husband seemed to enjoy the red beans and rice. I'm not one for beans so I did not pass judgement. We both went to town on the entrees and really enjoyed it. The gumbo was a bit watery but okay. The okra did not thicken it up too much which was surprising. The food is delicious. My husband is from New Orleans so he approved. It's nice to have another place in OC for Cajun/Creole Southern food.
They've recently changed to a sit-down model. So either you check in with the host and they lead you to your table, or I assume you can still order at the register to get food to-go. Food is still amazing, though menu changed a little bit. Our server was Megan and she was fantastic!

The restaurant was easy to find, and the service was excellent from start to finish. We ordered the seasonal peach salad and the pulled pork sandwich with fries. The food itself was a little underwhelming, as most of the dishes were fairly bland and didn't have as much flavor as I was expecting. The complimentary cornbread was a nice touch, though. The highlight of the visit was definitely the service. The staff was friendly and attentive, constantly checking in on us without being overly intrusive. Overall, the service was the best part of the experience. While I enjoyed the atmosphere and hospitality, I'm not sure I would come back specifically for the food.
Nice soul food restaurant with lots of options and great flavor. Everything we ordered was delicious and packed with flavor. You order at the counter and they bring out the food to your table. They have lots of indoor and outdoor seating, and the staff are very friendly. The portions are on the smaller side but still satisfying enough.
Service was amazing they were super sweet. The food was good - the Mac and cheese stood out though I will say the coleslaw was bitter as if the red cabbage had been sitting for too long the batter for the chicken was perfectly crispy though very seasoned and slightly salty. Cornbread was good but definitely needs the honey and butter as it is very dry. Overall still a great experience and a very cute spot with plenty of indoor and outdoor seating.
Ate at Georgia's on a Sunday for a late lunch. It wasn't too crowded so we were easily able to get a table. You order at the counter, and they'll bring your found out to you. I was debating between the flat iron steak and tri tip, but the staff at the counter let me know they were actually out of tri tip that day. The flat iron steak was good, and the chimichurri was great! I asked for medium rare, but just a couple slices were a bit too rare. The collard greens and coleslaw were both delicious. My collard greens portion seemed to have a bigger pork ratio than I'm used too, but my friend ordered collard greens too and his definitely had more greens. It's a nice casual spot we just found by chance, and I'm glad we decided to try it.
Absolutely delicious! The food reminded me of my grandma's Southern cooking and that's the highest compliment I can give. It's the first time I've ever had restaurant food that tasted this authentic and homemade. I've already been here several times and this review is long overdue. Very happy this is in Irvine!
Finally gave Georgia's a try! We've always passed by the restaurant going to Spectrum and we decided to go for it. We got the gumbo, shrimp + grits, and the shrimp + fries. The gumbo was the best out of the 3. It was flavorful and after I finished, I wanted to dip the fries in there. The cup is a bit smaller than I thought. The shrimp + grits was good, but it wasn't as flavorful as the gumbo. The fries were standard fries, but it was goood along with their ranch. Service is a little slow with bringing food out, but someone did check up on us once. I did have to ask for water though! I will def return for the gumbo!
Our friend recommended Georgias to us last week. We went during our lunch and ordered blacken chicken pasta and fried chicken platter with two sides ( Cajun rice and fries). They were low on staff but we didn't mind and she was super nice. There is plenty of seating inside and out. Honestly, the food is really good. I would come here again and recommend. The fried chicken is different. It's light crispy and airy. The Cajun rice was good too. The blackened chicken pasta was creamy and good but could've used a little extra love.
Was craving soul food and really wanted some of that Georgias chicken!! I'm upset because this recipe was not the same as the one located in Anaheim. The one at Anaheim had some CRUNCHY, crispy chicken. So I was disappointed that this chicken was more greasy. I did love the Mac, the Cajun rice did not taste Cajun, and my daughter said her waffle tasted stale, and my bf enjoyed his jambalaya. I was way more satisfied with the location and the service! Our drink girl was so beautiful and sweet, really made the experience perfect!
Tez was such a pleasure to have taken our order and explained the dishes in detail as we were first-timers at Georgia's. There is nothing like great customer service with a smile and a genuine spirit. The ambiance was fun because they played great music in the background.
A great place for soul food located in the center of Irvine Spectrum. The closest parking to this location is either in the south side of the structure that is closest to the movie theater or the parking lot directly outside of the restaurants. Both require a brief walk to the restaurant. The parking can be very crowded at times and there are alternative parking lots and structures that are a little farther away. They have both indoor and outdoor seating available at this location. You order your food at the register and are given a number to bring to your table. They have a pretty large variety of dishes on their menu. The staff were very friendly and the service overall was excellent. The meal came with complimentary cornbread and honey butter. The cornbread was warm with a slight crisp on the outside but was soft in the middle. We were sharing a blackened chicken pasta and the restaurant offered to split the dish for us for free. The pasta was cooked al dente and had a delicious savory and creamy sauce. The chicken was tender and had good flavor as well. The beignets were very crispy on the outside but fluffy on the inside and the chocolate sauce that it came with was a great addition. There are so many great options on the menu and I can't wait to go back and try more of them.
I first tried Georgia's Restaurant during a Yelp Elite event and was excited to come back and try the blackened chicken pasta. We also ran it back on the cornbread which is complimentary if you dine in and the beignets. The chicken and pasta were cooked to perfection. The chicken was well seasoned and juicy, and the pasta had a nice al dente bite to it. The cornbread was warm and soft with great flavor. The beignets were fried with a crisp exterior and a soft, chewy inside which made them a great way to end the meal. The inside is vibrant and spacious with plenty of room to sit comfortably. They have amazing customer service. The person who took our order was friendly and helpful, and the staff continued to check on us throughout the meal even though you pay before sitting which is something I really appreciated.
The food was good. I enjoyed my side dishes better than the main course. The fried chicken was just ok. Needed more flavor and fried harder than I prefer. The baked beans and yams needed nothing extra. Loved them! The staff was really great. The music being played was the best! 70s and 80s R&B! There is seating both inside and outside. You have to sit inside to enjoy the good music though. Not a bad experience for a soul food place located in an outside shopping center. I'd go back to the seabass! read more

The first thing we noticed was how friendly the staff was. You order up front and sit down and they bring you complimentary cornbread which was so good we forgot to take a pic. Ambiance was OK. Its in Spectrum mall so lots to do and places to pick from. For two adults and 1 kid with drinks it was under $100. Not bad we'll be back. read more

I like how they give complimentary corn bread at the beginning of your meal. The honey butter makes it delicious. We tried the gumbo and jambalaya (cup). Gumbo was the right portion to split among two people. The cup was also a good option if you are looking to try something small. Personally preferred the gumbo over the jambalaya. They both were flavorful and had a kick. Friendly and quick service. The music gave the ambiance a southern and soulful feel to our dining experience. Price is a bit on the higher end here. I've honestly only ever had creole food at Jazz Kitchen and Blue Bayou but Georgia's is a good option if you're craving this while shopping at spectrum ! read more

My husband ordered the shrimp & grits. I had a few bites of it and wow, that was really good. It's a bit spicy for him but not too bad. He's a bit of a wimp when it comes to spicy foods :) but I loved it though. I had the Georgia's blue chicken salad with citrus dressing and that was mediocre, The citrus dressing was extremely salty. I asked for grilled chicken instead of blackened and it was a very small portion of chicken and super dry. Service by Yensi, the manager, was very good though. She kept on checking on us and other diners and was super nice. We also got two pieces of cornbread and that was a bit dry, but good. Tried out Georgia's at the Spectrum and really enjoyed the vibe. It's a nice sit down spot where you order at the counter and then relax while they bring the food to you. The interior is beautifully decorated, warm, inviting, and perfect for a casual meal. I ordered the flat iron steak with rice and corn on the cob along with a gumbo dish. They also give you complimentary cornbread at the start which honestly ended up being my favorite part of the meal. It was soft, buttery, and full of flavor. The steak was cooked rare but felt just a little too rare for my taste. The rice was well seasoned and delicious and the corn had a nice texture but could have used a bit more flavor. This is a small chain of full service, yet fast casual, stores in OC that features Cajun/New Orleans specialties. The menu is extensive, starting with breakfast. This particular location in The Spectrum is near the Regency theater and is their latest opening. We popped in before our movie and were really glad we did. We had the red beans and rice, fried green tomatoes and cornbread and were surprised at how good everything was. Service was warm and professional and self seating was easy. If you're in the area and want something different than the usual mall fare Georgia's is a great choice. read more

Been wanting to try this new location at the Spectrum. My son is in town from Germany so he wanted to try something very "American" and I thought this was perfect. There's no Southern food in Berlin. It's fast casual so you order from a menu at the counter and they bring the food to you. The interior is light and bright and very clean. There are a lot of outdoor tables so that's a great option. We got the classic chicken and waffles as well as the Gumbo and some beignets for dessert. The service was excellent from the moment we entered until we left. We even got a visit from Georgia's daughter and had a great conversation. Loved it, we'll be back. read more
Located in the middle of spectrum across from Dave and Busters. Order at the counter and the bring food out. Meals come with corn bread and butter, corn bread is great. Ordered a blackened chicken salad which was pretty sad. Basically lettuce chicken and blue cheese. Don't waste your time for 15 bucks. Food takes a while to come out. We ordered fried catfish (needs a little more seasoning) with side of Mac and cheese which was ok. We like Mac n cheese like it's a pie so needs more cheesey thickness, collard greens were tasty. Then we ordered plate of smothered pork chops (chops needed more seasoning but gravy nicely seasoned but prolly need to be a little thicker. With side of garlic rice (seemed too peppery) and yams (sweet & delicious). Service was good timing. Not too long not short. I'm surprised the place was not crowded considering it's a new restaurant at the spectrum. It's soul food with not enough soul. read more

Really wanted to like this place I tried them maybe 5 years ago the chicken and waffles, and I remember it being good and wanting to try it again. I got the shrimp po boy, we got a kids meal with shrimp and my husband got the fried chicken plate with Mac and cheese. The shrimp in both meals had the soul cooked out of them! Soooo overdone they were dry and super rubbery. The batter was lacking in some flavor as well. Which sucked because the sandwich all together had potential but the main part the shrimp suuucked. For my husband's plate it seemed the chicken and shrimp were battered in same type batter so the same was lacking flavor. His Mac and cheese lacking flavor as well. So everything had potential but lacked in flavor and or texture. Service was good and strawberry lemonade was really good. Left feeling with mixed emotions dont know if the overcooked shrimp were a bad day for the restaurant or if they are done that way all the time. read more

I have dined at Georgia's in LB and Anaheim, but this was my first time at the Spectrum. And it did not disappoint. The food was on hit and the staff so polite and amazing. Michael assisted us with our order and came to our table several times to check on us. That's customer service! I am glad that the same quality of dishes remains at every location. Service was friendly. I did an online pickup order. The staff was so nice and had my order ready for me. It was my first time ordering here. I was excited to try southern style food / bbq. The sauce on the ribs were not special, but the meat on the ribs was good amount. The food overall was okay. Probably not worth the price they're charging but I get it, location is expensive. It's not really authentic bbq southern style food if that's what you want. I would come back to check out and try their other entrees. read more
Came here for a group dinner that was set up on the outside patio. It was a really lovely setting. We had a tasting menu that consisted of several dishes from the menu. Near Dave & Busters at Irvine Spectrum. Order at the register, they give you a number, and bring your order to you when ready. Both indoor and outdoor seating. Slow, but very friendly service! Likely slow because it was restaurant week, and it was a helluva deal, so everybody went! We got to try their chicken tenders, chili mac, regular mac, red beans and rice, cornbread, and chocolate Bundt cake. All were amazing, and the chicken was so good it didn't even need sauce! Tucked away in the Irvine Spectrum mall, Georgia's serves up delicious Southern comfort food with a side of free cornbread. Choose from a variety of plates - I recommend the fried chicken or the catfish. Each plate comes with your choice of two classic sides, with options such as mac and cheese, red beans and rice, and collard greens. I found the jambalaya to be a bit underdeveloped in terms of flavor. The rice and the chicken both seemed to have been added right at the end. Stick with the fried chicken, in my opinion! Unfortunately, this place didn't live up to expectations. The menu was pretty basic with only a few soul food staples, and honestly, I can find better versions of most of the dishes elsewhere at a better price My boyfriend had the fried chicken and jams. While the chicken was fried, it didn't taste fresh, it had more of an oily flavor and just wasn't great. He ate the sides, but didn't finish the meal. We were given complimentary cornbread because we dined in, but it was tiny and didn't taste homemade, more like boxed cornbread. I had the Grilled Creole Shrimp, which was pretty bland. The shrimp and veggies had no seasoning to speak of, and the rice was just okay. I couldn't finish it because it made my stomach hurt almost immediately. We also ordered a slice of pound cake, but after waiting a while to get it, we found out the one at the counter was undercooked or something and never got the piece we paid for. The atmosphere felt too cold and modern to have any real "Southern" vibe. There wasn't even a smell of good food coming from the kitchen, which was a huge letdown. Overall, $60 down the drain for food we didn't finish and a dessert we never got. We won't be coming back and honestly, wouldn't recommend it to anyone else either. The staff was friendly. read more

Georgia's Restaurant was a spontaneous selection from all the other restaurants at the packing district but southern food was calling my group's name so we were excited to try it. There were lots of entrees that sounded delicious but we figured if it was good we would come back and try what we had not that day. There was seating available there inside and outside, we chose to sit inside and we brought fresh warm cornbread with butter. The servers were so kind and worked as a team to take care of us. We ordered Gumbo, Shrimp & Grits, and Red Beans & Rice. I tried some of the gumbo. It just needed a touch of flavor. I would give it a 5 out of 10. The Shrimp & Grits was my mine order and it was very good (7/10) and I also order a side of red beans and rice which needed a little extra seasoning to me and to the other person I was with that order a bowl of it; I would give it a 6 out of 10. Overall I had a good experience and I would go back and order the shrimp & grits again. read more

My favorite soul food restaurant in Irvine. I ordered the smothered chicken with yams and macaroni and cheese. It was a nice surprise that it came with a small piece of cornbread. The chicken had a nice kick to it, and I loved the sweet yams. It was like a dessert in a way. Customer service was excellent and attentive. There is also outdoor seating and plenty of parking in the parking structure. read more

Staff: The team here were great. We were helped by Jada and Lisa. Both young ladies were very friendly, attentive, and made us feel very welcome. Quality/Quantity: The food here is sooooooo delicious folks. We got the spicy chicken sandwich and the Blackened Tilapia. The sandwich was huge and packed with juicy yet crunchy chicken. I opted for the spicy sauce in the side which was the right move as it has some kick. Wife grabbed the Tilapia was good as well. While we waited they brought us some of their delicious corn bread. Value: I think it was reasonable considering the quality and quantity of the food. It was about $35 for two. Overall: Big big fan of this spot. We will be back for sure. read more

Delicious food and great service. I placed an online order for the Chicken & Fish Bucket with macaroni and cheese and the salad with raspberry vinaigrette dressing, shrimp basket with fries and for dessert a peach cobbler, beignets, slice of pound cake and a slice of lemon cake. As I walked through the door the staff greeted me and was finishing up my order and offered me utensils as well as the sauces that go with the meal. Once I got home we sat down to enjoy the wonderful meal that we looked forward to trying for such a long time. The fried chicken included generous sizes, delicious seasoning and moist juiciness. The fish tenders went well with their tartar sauce and the shrimp and fries were equally delicious. We only had room for one dessert and choose to indulge in the beignets with chocolate sauce. If you are looking for some good southern comfort food in South Orange County then look no further than Georgias in the Irvine Spectrum. read more

One of the newer additions to the Irvine Spectrum so wanted to stop by and give it a try. The interior is new, clean and welcoming. We ordered the blackened chicken pasta, chicken and waffles, shrimp po'boy, chicken tenders, mac and cheese and piggy cheese fries. The winner was the po' boy, but perhaps that's because I do enjoy a good po'boy so I may be partial to that. The piggy cheese fries were good but was a bit greasy for our taste. The other items were good and enjoyable, but also fairly standard. After coming back from visiting New Orleans, my taste seems a bit more demanding, but this was a good meal. Southern food is amazing and nothing beats soul food from Nola! I was so excited to try Georgia's but didn't see the "wow" here. Tried their tri tip sandwich and pulled pork and it was okay. Service was decent but not sure how to feel about the restaurant? The restaurant looks like a traditional sit down but you pay first and then find your own seat. They are currently participating in the kids eat free which is nice. I may come back and try the grits next time in hopes of a "wow!" like Nola. read more
