My mother didn't finish her catfish so she let me finish it. I thought that the catfish was good, very satisfactory, but I had better elsewhere in the past at Cracker Barrel and Petro which is a truckstop chain. Cornbread came which I didn't eat as I am not a cornbread guy. My mother was satisfied with the cornbread. Men's washroom was clean and paper towels were available... good. Service was mostly good. I do have some bones to pick. Service: I asked if any other bread was available besides cornbread. The server said garlic bread was available. I asked if I could have garlic bread instead of the cornbread. The server said there would be a charge for that. Deduct a half point for that. Size of washroom: The men's washroom is designed for the use of only one person at a time. It ought to be redesigned so someone could use the urinal, the commode and the sink all at the same time. My 0.02$. Deduct one half point for that. I noticed that at least one guy working there wore his shirt untucked. I consider that to be unprofessional. I'm OCD about that. Deduct one point for that. This review PAINS ME. I was so elated to support a local, BIPOC business but the food was not good...at all. My family ordered various chicken and fish dishes with several sides and my family and I couldn't eat hardly any of it. EVERYTHING was way to salty. I love a good seasoned dish, especially Soul Food, but the fried chicken and blackened catfish was so salty it made my mouth hurt. The fried chicken also had a funky undertone that makes me think maybe it wasn't fresh. The grilled dishes we ordered were so dry and stringy, they were inedible. The yams we recieved were watery and the mac and cheese was dry. I am genuinely so devastated because I had heard such great things about the food. The cashier was a bit nonchalant. We sat outside and it was a little cool outside so i asked her if we can get the heat lamp turned on. She said she would ask her supervisor, but I don't think she did. When our server brought out our food I asked him about the beater and he turned it on without hesitation. He was extremely nice. My catfish and grits were really good. I don't eat red meat and forgot to ask when I ordered whether they had meat in it. We went with the family for a birthday lunch and we had a party of 11. We initially seated outside and it was so cold and windy that day, but luckily I spied a party in the back of the restaurant leaving so we were able to snag it inside. Seating is limited so keep that in mind and I do see several people ordering to go. It appears they have a lot of business so that's nice to see. As for the food everyone was so hungry I am the only one that took a pic of my food which was the shrimp and grits. Wow, it had so much flavor! Delicious! The Hurricane drink reminds me much like a Sunrise and it was really good and a great size for $10. They also have mimosas for $7 and bottomless mimosas for $25 limited 2 people. I realized we should have gotten the bottomless mimosas to get more for my buck (in a good way). The French Toast and Waffles were good. The French Toast could have used a bit more flavor but the Chicken was different! I have no idea how they cook their chicken but it doesn't taste like REGULAR chicken. Tastes like genuine southern food. First visit 3/21/26. The tri-tip was tender and perfectly cooked, baked beans were super tasty with lots of bacon, and the yams were deliciously heavy with brown sugar and cinnamon. The fried catfish was crispy and the tartar sauce was not too sweet, the greens were authentic with a large amount of pork throughout. The mashed potatoes were creamy and clearly cooked in chicken broth. The gravy was so flavorful and delicious. We were too full to try dessert but look forward to doing so at our next go around. We sat on the patio on a warm day but delighted in the shade and breeze of Long Beach. We were lucky enough to meet the owner/manager who was so kind and personable. It's more of a casual type of place since you order your food at the front and then they bring your food to your table. Now that I've been here a few times I'm obliged to review. My favorite side dishes are the yams and fried green tomatoes. I hail from Soul food culture and can be quite particular when it comes to my "home" food. Georgias gets the job done if you're looking to satisfy. The honey butter makes you eat more than one biscuit or cornbread muffin. My niece loved the food here so much she arranged for a gathering for brunch on her 18th birthday. I had to show face and ordered the red beans and rice to-go before going to work. The mister likes the catfish and chicken. Most of the adult children like the Mac n cheese. My youngest is very particular about his Mac n cheese like me so he doesn't care for creamy style. My oldest didn't like her food at all to the point she said she wanted to cry so you know it was sent back. Mixed reviews are always to be expected. I appreciate the staff and their honest opinions and recommendations. The restaurant has always been clean and service has been acceptable. Request are handled promptly. Had the pleasure of dining here tonight. We used to frequent the Georgia's at the Anaheim Packing House till we moved far away. Just found out there's a Georgia's at Long Beach Exchange which isn't too far from us. Parking was decent on the other side of the buildings on the TJMaxx side. There's a bunch of stores you might want to hit like Old Navy and Nordstrom Rack as well as Runner's High and yoga etc... There was also a variety of nice restaurants which I am excited to check out. I haven't been posting too many reviews as of late but the Manager or Owner who was running around went above and beyond urging me to leave a compliment. Not only was the food yummy, but he really read my mind on anything we needed. My husband got the hangar steak, mac n cheese and Cajun rice. He didn't leave a morsel of anything - basically licked his plate clean. I thought the steak looked small but he said no complaints based on the price being reasonable and there being sufficient sides. Not to mention the complimentary cornbread which is warm and toasty. I got the fried chicken, fries and especially loved the Cajun rice. It had a kick but wasn't spicy to the point of upsetting my stomach. I thought it was perfect. Fries could use another splash of salt or seasoning but my son polished them so they passed the little guy's test. My husband finished his sweet tea and I saw the Manager or Owner eye the cup, then instead of interrupting our conversation or even asking if he wanted more, he checked the computer for what he had drank and brought him another glass. I feel like that rarely happens. Plus I was just about to ask for a box because I had some leftover chicken and low and behold a box appears at my table without me even asking. Sheeeesh! Waffle was too dense; ate half and saved the other half for breakfast the next morning and it was honestly a chore to eat through it by then. I needed a lot of coffee and water to wash it down. My wife and I got delivery from here for dinner. We both wanted it to be good. First, it took a little too long for the food to be done. The delivery person has to wait more than 10 minutes. So our food was a bit late. But no worries if it was really good. We ordered from here because my wife wanted chili mac and they had it. She thought it was just ok. It didn't look appetizing to me. She also wanted corn bread, which I ordered as well. The honey butter was good. The cornbread was a bit dry. I ordered the fried chicken plate. The collard greens were excellent: Lots of flavor and nicely spiced. The mashed potatoes with bacon gravy was not good to me, as I didn't like the gravy. But that could be my bad for getting the bacon gravy. The fried chicken looked good. But I really didn't like it. It tasted like it was fried in oil that had fried a lot of fish. So the cornmeal crust tasted funny to me. My wife said the chicken tasted like it was cooked with catfish. That didn't appeal to me at all and I barely ate one piece. Oh yeah, once seated, you are served cornbread muffins with honey butter. SO GOOD, make sure you eat while still hot! Restaurant: Inside seating is enough for maybe 20 people. Outside seating is enough for about 40 people. Thankfully, the outside is covered, so if there is rain, you're still good to go. You walk up, place your order, pay for it and find your seat. Service: Myah was the cashier and the guy ended up being my server. I didn't get his name. He was so nice. I got there and was looking for my friend who mistakenly went to the Anaheim location. HA!
