Portions are small for their price point. I paid $14 for 3 pieces of french toast. Berries weren't evenly distributed on each piece so that was annoying. The crunch on the french toast is pretty tasty and unique. The cornmeal pancake was actually delicious. My sister ordered the counter special and it was just okay. Nothing too special about the meal. As much as I liked this place before. I went this previous Saturday for brunch. I was so disappointed that the food didn't taste the same, and the quality went down. Also during our entire meal there was 2-3 fruit fly around our food that we had to shoo away while trying to eat. It was a little annoying. Curse Geraldine's for ruining one of my favorite breakfast foods, the French Toast! They've totally re-invented the wheel and I can no longer enjoy any other French Toast outside of Geraldine's because it was just that AMAZING. No sogginess at all. I need to learn how to replicate it (thankfully I was able to find the secret with a quick google search ). But anyways, their French Toast is unlike any other French Toast I've ever had, wielding a buttery and crispy exterior with soft and airy interior. The honey peach on top was the perfect pairing, and the maple syrup on the side nicely wrapped up this decadent package of a dish. The French Toast is what they're known for, if it's your first time here, just order it and you won't regret it. 5/5! The corned beef hash was solid as well, but nothing in comparison to the French Toast. The biscuit though, my gosh... none of that crumbly dry biscuit business here. I've been to Geraldine's many times, and it has genuinely never let me down. The servers are always so kind, even when it's busy (which is most of the time). Me and my boyfriends favorite place! Today, we both ordered The Slammin' but substituted the pancakes for the French toast. Their toast is the best both of us have ever had. Perfectly sweet and crispy with a seasonal topping-- right now, it's cinnamon apples! The Slammin' also comes with eggs and your choice of bacon or a sausage patty (both amazing quality by the way). From the other times I've gone, I can definitely recommend their chicken pot pie, seasonal kombucha and their mimosas! Geraldine's still has it going on after my last visit to Seattle 6-years ago. We stayed in downtown Seattle this trip and took the trolley up, walked the half mile to Geraldine's and had a lovely breakfast. The hubby ordered the French toast which was topped with plums and served with scrambled eggs and chicken and apple sausage. He then ordered the coffee cake of the day, which had a cream cheese and berry filling. Their coffee cake is an absolute must and French toast is so unique because it's deep fried and crisp but custard like in the middle. I ordered everything a la carte and ordered a scrambled egg, a biscuit with butter and jam and a piece of sausage. I didn't have any breakfast or coffee prior so this was it and so glad we were close by. I ordered a single egg fried over medium with 2 biscuits. Husband ordered the Mexican omelet. We were both very happy with our orders. I always seem to run into friends at this restaurant. Guess this is where all the Southend people like going for breakfast, brunch, and lunch. This is for dine in and to go. Dine in, we always have exceptional service. Everyone is so kind and always checking up on us if we need anything. Although, my to-go experience was not the best. There was no good communication for my order that came out very late and I tried asking, but I understand that they were busy so didn't want to bother too much. The truffle tator tots are my FAV. I know I have to make 2 orders because I can finish one to myself. Recently, we just tried the mac and cheese. It is so creamy and cheesy. Love it!! The omelets are super bland and hash browns. What a great place for brunch. You know it's good when people are willing to wait an hour to be seated. We waited for about 40 mins before we were seated. They had a great system going on to get people in and out quickly and safely. We ordered the French toast (which is what they are famous for), truffle tots, Mac and cheese, chili, and the emerald city scramble with a side of hash brown. French toast was tasty! It was crispy on the outside but soft and fluffy on the inside! I can see why it's such a crowd pleaser. The truffle tots were oh so good! We could of had two orders of it! It usually comes with some sort of rotating fruit for the week or day that's is phenomenally , I think I've had bananas( Gwen stephanie helped me spell that lol ) peaches and spiced apples . Oh my gosh! My boyfriend, Porter, got the biscuits and gravy. He said it was the best gravy he's ever had! It was my first time trying it and it was mouth watering. I got the BLT and added avocado. Absolutely delicious. Loved the arugula. The bacon was on the thicker side and the flavor was out of this world. The blackberry lemonade mismosa was yummy and fresh. My friend found Geraldine's through Yelp, and she sent me the link and I was instantly intrigued by the retro diner aesthetic. We went on a Saturday around 12:30 PM without a reservation and it was insanely busy. It was so busy inside that bar seats were not even open. There were so many groups waiting to be seated that the small waiting area was filled and it was busy out the front door. The list to be seated was a good old fashion legal paper pad with names written in ballpoint that you could add yourself to the list for. It did not feel disorganized though- staff were ever present and keeping things moving like clockwork. It was a 40 minute wait, so my friend and I visit the local shops nearby and came back just in time to save seated. Something that stood out was a large chalkboard menu with daily specials. The reusable menus we received are clear, well laid out, and not so expansive that it is hard to decide what to order. It's also a pretty classic menu for a diner with just small twists for the specials. We ordered fried chicken steak with gravy, hash-browns, eggs, and the special French toast with apricots and bloody Mary's. The bloody Mary's were reasonably strong, but well mixed (not too thick or thin). The chicken fried steak was a tad small but the serving of gravy was extremely generous and enough to mix with the hash browns and still have some to spare. The French toast was the star of the show though. The toast looked and tasted homemade. It was perfectly crispy on the outside and light and fluffy on the inside. It wasn't overly thick or heavy, and was so perfectly balanced that it did not need extra fruit or even syrup to achieve the perfect taste. I wish I lived closer and could taste their rotating French toast specials since I would definitely order it again. I would definitely recommend visiting- the service is speedy and anticipates your needs and the food tastes uniquely homemade and is a fresh take on diner classics. read more

Last summer, I was in Seattle for a long weekend to attend my nieces graduation from the University of Washington. Before heading to the airport, we decided to grab lunch one last time while the family was all together and went our separate ways back home. We looked up a few spots to eat and decided that Geraldine's Counter was the place. Upon our arrival, they graciously seated our party of 9 and gave us all the chance to look over our menus. The variety of the menu was plentiful and we each ordered what was to our liking. The wait staff was friendly, attentive and the food all came out as ordered. The restaurant is in a beautiful part of the city and has a great corner location. Everyone in our party was pleased with their meal selection and we all left happy. The wife and I were looking for a place that can offer a great amount of brekkie to hold us over for a long day and Geraldine's delivered. Biscuits & Gravy were hearty and rich, paired with some crispy hash browns. They're a must! Also would recommend Geraldine's Casserole. I have never seen anything like this on a menu before, it's not exactly a quiche or frittata. It's a Geraldine's Casserole, you're going to order it and love it. Eggs, pork, cream, potato, and cheese are all "baked to perfection" as the menu suggests. I can vouch for that. If it's brunch time, order a Marga-rah-rah. We used to love heading to Geraldine's pre COVID with its comforting bright interior and remember heading for breakfast for special days. We've had to be a bit more careful post COVID since our youngest child has an autoimmune disease. It was such an ease this morning to order breakfast using their toast tab app for our 10 yr old's birthday (ten breakfast orders for family) which was efficiently packed in separate to go boxes in a huge cardboard packing box. FINALLY! I made it to Geraldine's for brunch on a Saturday morning. Luckily, it only took about 15 minutes to get a table for two around 10:30AM. They take your name and number of people on a list in the front and then you can just wait outside until they call you. They seated us, handed us menus, and filled cups of water. The menu is pretty long so it took some time for us to decide what to get. I ended up ordering the spinach, feta, basil & tomato omelet with hasbrowns and a biscuit (~$16). The food came super fast and was very tasty. It was kind of a lot of food for one meal so I ended up taking some of mine home. The service was great and for being such a busy place, I didn't feel as if they were rushing to take our order or rushing to kick us out.
