Overall I had a great experience here, which means something coming from someone who usually can't stand auto shops. I always feel like they're trying to scam me and that they can't be trusted, but I now I know I can trust Gerber - you can't tell anything ever happened to my car! It looks brand new. I was rear ended and had to go through the process of collision repair. While my repair was somewhat minor, they fixed it with no problems and without trying to upsell me on every little thing. I worked with Jordan who was outstanding, he had the best communication, transparency, flexibility, and he was very friendly. I felt better leaving my car knowing that I would be taken care of, and Jordan made sure of that! The only difficulty I had involved scheduling the services. The insurance agent of the person who hit my car sent them my appraisal and information, and told me that Gerber would reach out to me within a couple days. After about a week and a half of waiting I finally had to call Gerber to schedule, and we set a drop off time for the following week. I called the day before drop off to confirm before making the drive over, and the employee told me that I wasn't even in their system and there were no records of my appointment. I decided to reschedule and the next appointment I set went smoothly. The drop off took some time, but they were very busy so I don't blame Gerber! And then the 2 days estimate for repairs extended to a week in length, but again I would rather wait longer and make sure my car is perfect instead of rushing them to meet the original deadline. 5 stars for Jordan and the repair!! I wish I could give them more reviews because these people actually help me get my car back to normal after it was stolen with my insurance paying close to almost $10,000 at first to get it ready. I was so satisfied at the beginning but now about a year later I had so problems and decided to go back to see if they can help due to understanding some things are warranted. However, they seem like they didn't wanna help so ok I called my adjuster since I still happen to have his number save and he told me that the reason they partner with Gerber is because they offer life time warranty now I never knew this SO MAKE SURE YOU KNOW THIS!!!!! Know THE WARRANTY POLICY... fast forward I changed the battery on my car along with the fob and now the car is saying no key fab now I called this morning to see if they could help me and they only response is to try to reset it myself.... My car was stolen and it's the reason why I took it there to begging with the computer system was reprogrammed and they key fob wasn't working either, so I called and they said for me to try it at home...if it has warranty why can't I just bring it in and it can get reprogrammed? I'm confused on how things work.. I got upset and called Nissan and explain to them what happened and they said if it had warranty why I just don't take it back to them..... point is now imma have to go back and forth again for a fob to get reprogrammed. Idc about paying but is the lack of communication with the warranty after my car getting all that amount put into it seems like the warranty ain't for everything ??? Cuz this the second time I call and apparently I'm given a run around.... With the amount the insurance spend I would appreciate a BRING IT IN WE WILL CHECK IT OUT AND SEE WHAT IF ANYTHING IS COVERED BY ALL THE WORK WE DID OR AT LEAST A THIS WOULD BE THE TOTAL DUE TO IT NOT BEING COVERED......not a fix it at home... they would be paperwork evolve and we will have to wait for the insurance... They are the best, they are #1. Our vehicle was hit and run on N. Pulaski, which produced body damage, obliterated driver-side Mirror, and partially shattered driver-side window. Gerber Collision & Glass did a 5-star job fixing our vehicle. They also did an outstanding job keeping us informed by phone calls & texts regarding their progress. They were asked to perform a job in exchange for money, and they performed perfectly. The rest of the story is above and beyond what is expected from any customer-facing-company! My wife lost her wedding ring, which is a priceless family heirloom, in the same vehicle several months earlier. My wife tasked Gerber Collision & Auto Glass with finding the ring, which we had invested hours in searching for, in the same vehicle. They turned the interior of our vehicle inside-out. And triumphantly sent us hilarious pictures of our vehicle, and of course, said wedding ring! I can't thank this company enough for easing my anxiety and resolving this marital "issue". Wow.....That is their motto. They want to WOW their customers but I am not impressed. They flat out refused to schedule a time to replace my windshield. They will only give me the date. They will not let the customer know the time until 9:30a the morning of the install. Even then, they give you a 2 hr window of when the installer will most likely be at the shop. A 2 hour window?? Should I go there and wait? Will they be serving lunch? I specifically asked that they let me know beforehand due to my schedule. They told me they could let me know the day before which they did not. They asked what time of day would be best. I said morning, so they scheduled me for the afternoon. I just don't get it. This poor approach to customer service is beyond ridiculous. Not everyone can just sit around waiting for whenever their installer feels like doing the job. Like I am supposed to wait for him to snap his fingers and then run over to the shop. This undoubtedly means that they view their installers time as more valuable than my own. Why is it so difficult for them to figure out his schedule before each morning. I mean get a scheduling app or whatever the hell you need to do but this is no way to treat customers who you clearly do not value. Whatever. Bottom line. If you want to sit around all day at the beck and call of some windshield installer...then you should definitely go with Gerber. WOW!!! read more

Five Stars. Two weeks ago, my car was hit (and run) on the street while I was at work. The damage was substantial, and when I took my car to Gerber Collision & Glass (3059 N. Kedzie), I asked them to look for my (missing 8+ months) wedding ring. They went above and beyond, tore the inside of my car apart, never gave up, and ultimately found it. They had to take out both front seats and the rear seat, the carpet, and a variety of other things, but they found it. I cannot say enough incredible things about them and about Jordan our estimator, who kept me posted and was enthusiastic about the prospect if finding it all along. I'm a huge fan of Gerber at this location. When you hate dealing with fixing cars as much as me, it's nice to work with people who are polite, helpful, and try to make it easy for you. I worked mostly with Peter and also Chase for a little bit. Both guys are incredibly easy to speak with. For someone who knows just about zero when it comes to car parts, they broke everything down and literally walked with me around my car, pointing everything out. Gerber also texts your phone to update you on when they start work on the car, how it's doing throughout the week, and also the estimated completion date. I could really only pick up my car on a Saturday because of work during the weekdays and they were able to finish it by then even though the estimated date was the Tuesday after. It was a pleasure working with the awesome guys at Gerber and I would not hesitate to come back if I had to (but hopefully no one hits my car again...!) read more

My wife's car was taken to the shop after an accident prior to accident no dash lights on following repair had a light on dash. That was cleared turned out to be wheel TPMS sensor which the rep was dying I can't assume this happens cause of the accident even tho they asked if there were any dash lights on prior to accident which there wasn't. My Toyota Sienna AWD Van was parked on the street when a maniac slammed into the rear drivers side wheel and caused over $10k in damages. Suspension, drivetrain, bodywork, tires, it was a total mess but I knew there was only 1 place I would consider going to. I have had previous bodywork done at Gerber with no issues so I called my insurance company and had the car towed to their shop. The team continues to be superb, Mercy at the front desk took care of the paperwork while Jordan my sales rep went over all of the details and worked on a plan to get me in a rental right away and get the parts on order to start asap. When I received my car there was a small issue that I brought to their attention and they took care of it right away. They even installed a new battery since mine went dead. The van is back to how I had it and it's running great. I feel confident in the work and I am certain any problem will be addressed. Had a great experience here! I got rear ended and they handled everything, made sure insurance payed every dime, and had all internal and external damage fixed within a week. Plus there is an Enterprise next door so getting a rental car was super easy and convenient. I personally worked with Jordan and Marcy, and they were incredibly friendly and helpful! I have been having my car serviced by the mechanic at this location before it changed hands to Gerber. I will admit I was VERY skeptical that the change in ownership would negatively affect my experience with them. This has not been the case whatsoever. First of all, their mechanic, Ralph, is the best. He has been fixing my cars for years and I won't go to anyone else. He ALWAYS takes the time to explain the issues I'm having and is patient with my millions of questions. I would never trust anyone else with my vehicle. This man knows cars unlike anyone else. I just had my first experience with the body work side of the shop. They were repairing damage to our hood caused by a Safelight technician when replacing our windshield. Everyone from the front desk, to the estimators, to everyone involved in the repair made me feel valued. The repair was completed quickly and my car looks flawless! I had a pleasant experience from beginning to end. I will return to this location for all of my future automotive repairs. read more

I had a horrible experience with this particular Gerber. Then after they did not fix the issue the first time I gave them a second chance and they still DID not. I got in a car accident and this was one of the pre-approved body shops my insurance had listed. They had my car for a month and billed my insurance company $7,000 worth of charges (the estimate was $4,000) and my car accident was not that bad. I got hit on the left side front wheel. I know fixing the axle was be expensive... but still. When they first took my car they had me fill out paperwork that offered I be contacted before they start repairs going over what would be done. I did not get this until I called and complained. They gave me a month long estimate of getting my car back, then a few days before they were trying to extend. No rental was provided to me by Gerber or my insurance, but they did offer one the last 5 days they had my car...thanks, that's helpful after I've already found a car, taken the train and turned down gigs I couldn't get to. So I get my car back after a month and the steering is pulling to one side and the car vibrates and makes a scratching noise whenever the car was idle. I took it to my trusted mechanic to get a summary of the issues. With my mechanic's diagnosis (which he did for free) of their negligence I took it back to them and they fixed the noise but not the steering issue or the vibration. And I had to bring up getting a rental. It wasn't offered to try and make up for their faulty work. (The rental company adjoined to them was very nice and easy to work with) Fed up with their empty promises I asked my insurance agent if I could have my mechanic fix the remaining work. The issue with the steering was an issue with the tire and they used an after market motor mount to hold the engine in place. So, despite charging my insurance company $7,000 to fix my car, they used a cheap part that didn't absorb the vibration of the engine. After they "fixed" it the second time and I told them I would be taking it to my mechanic they called me up begging me to give them another chance. I asked what would be different this time? They said this time will be different, this time we will fix it. I told them they sounded like an abusive boyfriend and hung up. They should have fixed it the first time, but I understand cars like a house can have issues come up once you start working on them. This is why I gave them the second chance. No idea if they tried to swindle me because I'm a woman, but I've taken an auto class and I'm not afraid to speak up for myself. Try it on someone else. read more

Jordan handled the whole situation from the second I pulled my vehicle into their shop, set up my rental vehicle and did an amazing job on my car all in a timely fashion. I've previously had a good experience with Gerber: great communication and timely service. However this time around, it has been the opposite. I had my car towed into Gerber on 1/2/19 after waking up at 4am New Year's morning to my neighbors telling me there was a car on TOP of my parked car. It took 2-3 days before a technician was even able to take a look at my car and every day I kept calling to ask for an update on my estimate, only to be told "everyone is on vacation and I'm the only technician here, I'll give you an update by the end of the day early in the morning" then no response. Finally I left a voicemail to speak to the manager and oddly enough the technician calls me and finally gives me an estimate on cost only (not estimated time to repair). They told me they need to replace my suspension and are waiting for the part which since it was the end of the week would not be in until the following week. I call in the middle of the following week for an update then am told by the front desk "the technician who was working on your car called in sick so they only update I have is they are waiting for parts" I let her know that I thought it already arrived and she says "well I don't know, like I said he's sick today and that's the update we have". The next day I call and the technician tells me - "your engine cradle is cracked so we needed to order that part, it won't come in until next week" - I call the following week for any update and they tell me "your rim is unrepairable and it's after market so we don't know if we can order it" well I could have told you that it's unrepairable, that's the first and only thing I noticed on my car, so I email the technician the website where I purchased a single rim so they could also purchase it from the same place and of course I am told, the rim will come in next week. We are now on the third week and I asked for a time estimate on completion and he says the end of this week and if not definitely 1/31. Today I receive an automated text from Gerber stating that it won't be finished until 2/4/19 which is over a month. If someone would proactively provide me updates rather than me having to call every other day, I would not be so frustrated. If someone would properly explain to me what they are doing with my car - what needs to be done, how it will be done and estimated time of completion than I would not be frustrated. This is the opposite of the experience I've had with Gerber in the past. And after asking to speak to the manager and leaving a voicemail, I have not had a manager call me back or had anyone offer to provide me with the contact info. So I am in awe of the positive reviews that are recent here on Yelp and mention how helpful the manager is when I have not been able to speak to one. I've only dealt with the person at the front desk and the technician working on my car who will remain unnamed. I will never come back to Gerber and ask my insurance to recommend other shops to me, hopefully I won't have to deal with an accident again. read more

Secondly, the customer service was impeccable- from the first phone call to the text updates and the arrangements to pick up my car, just flawless! I got sideswiped while driving a couple weeks ago. After speaking with several insurance people, all of whom seemed to be reading from a company manual, I settled on taking my car into Gerber Collision and Glass. I wasn't having the best time. When I got there, a friendly woman, named Rachel, came out and assured me that my car would be ok and not to worry. They helped me navigate a rental through the insurance of person who hit me. She made sure I was ok from accident and help ease the stress from the incident. They ordered the parts which took longer than we thought they would. She kept checking in with me to let me know what was happening and to assure me the rental was still covered. I got the car back in great shape. They even buffed some preexisting marks on bumper. I would recommend everyone to use this location on Kedzie if at all convenient to where you live. read more
