So unfortunately I was recently in an accident in my truck. I took it to Gerber which is near my work. From being greeted by Bernard to having someone like Margie walk me through the entire process of getting my front end repaired. Was about as good as it gets considering the circumstance. When parts weren't available she made sure I was in the loop all the way In getting new ones. These people are top notch. Once the truck was done and ready which was a lot quicker than i expected, they had that thing spit shined. The porters did a great job and the body and paint work speaks for itself. If you want your can fix the RIGHT way DO NOT GO HERE! If you want good customer service DO NOT GO HERE!!! Bernard is the worst receptionist who will NEVER call you back. Margie is a terrible supervisor who refused to inspect my car until I told her my insurance would pay. Lack of customer service all around. If you have a claim, they will take the money and do the basic work then blame your car not being fixed on you. Recently, I posted a review of Gerber Collision, which I was very disappointed & dissatisfied due to the negligence regarding the repair of my vehicle. Since then, the manager at the Elgin facility, Margie, did contact her superiors & thanks to her due diligence, they saw fit to compensate me $1500 of the $2200 I was asking for, which is better than nothing. Apparently, time was a factor according to them. In my opinion, this should have come from the Schaumburg facility as that was where the negligence took place. Nightmare! Elgin Location on State St. Gerber Collision and Glass did body work on my car. When picking up the car, I noticed new damage to the rear. Gerber investigated and confirmed the damage was caused by them. They committed to repair and approve to extend my car rental with Enterprise. When I checked my credit card statement, I noticed that I was being charged over $400 for the rental car that was to be paid by Gerber. Gerber has refused to return my phone calls and, so far, have received no cooperation from Enterprise. I am disputing the $400 charge with my credit card company. They've requested proof that Gerber committed to pay for the rental extension but, yet again no cooperation nor response from Gerber. I would absolutely avoid taking your car to Gerber Collision and Glass. The customer service is horrendous. This has been an absolute nightmare! read more

I had An appointment set up for between 3 PM and 5 PM. The technician called me mid day and said he would be there roughly at that time. The technician never showed never called and when I called the technician to ask what happened, he said it got late. I told him I understood that he ran out of time but why didn't he text or call me.... He told me to call the office in a very rude tone, then hung up on me. I made an appt and received the confirmation email for an 8am appt. They called late morning and asked if they could do it at 4:00. i agreed. At 4:15 I called and they said 10 mins. This went on until 5:00. Then they wanted to reschudule the next day at 8am. Of course another no show and they didn't call to sayt ther were not coming. My truck was sent here on a insurance claim and like the previous post the work quality is mediocre. My truck was in for work on the left back bumper and for some reason my right side tail light is not the same anymore. When I was going to get it the first time I noticed issues with my tail light being out and not in place, things that should have been caught before I arrived by whoever inspects the work. Second time Almost got everything flush but still a no go. Gary I think his name was. Was very profesional but I still think the work could have been better. I did notice a Young lady came out with a attitude and just stared at me while I talked to Gary I guess trying to intimidate me or upset I was complaining. Well I had a repair like 11 months ago it was acceptable when done now the paint is peeling. Have it scheduled to be looked at. Let's see how it's handled. This was the first time I've used Gerber and I must say I am very impressed with their level of service and quality of work. I picked my car up today and could not be happier. My car was finished 3 days early and the repairs made are excellent. This transaction could not have been easier and they consistently communicated with me about the status of my vehicle via text message. This place quoted me my car will be dont by Thursday. I call them to see when my car would in fact be done they said they ment next Thursday. Then they damaged my exhaust I don't know how thwy left tools on my engine bay. Thwn to top it off they didnt even plug on my headlights back in after replaceing my front bumper something kinda important then refused to rectify the problem and management was very rude and disrespectful read more

I brought in a car that I had just bought used from a dealer and I didn't realize it had several scratches on it. The guy at Gerber did a once-over, took the car back in the shop, buffed out all the scratches, which I guess were just on the surface, and didn't even charge me! Now THAT'S service! If only every business was run this way with a "pay it forward" kind of attitude, there wouldn't just be lots of happy people out there, the freakin' world would be a better place. Thanks Gerber! I have a 2007 Ford Mustang Shelby and I got into a little accident with it so I thought to myself where would I be able to take it where I know people would actually care for it... So I figured gerber is one of the best places that I know of let's try that out... Little did I know once I took my car there it would be one of the worst experiences of my life... first off when I got my car back when they said it was done I noticed that the stripes that they put back on it didn't line up. So that right there I brought up a red flag I had to resend them my car back so that they can fix that. Then one day I get my car back I go wash my car and I noticed clear coat all over the side of my car... So I sent it back again and they looked at it and they said that they were sorry they will fix it, well they didn't fix it they fix a little area and try to pawn it off on me as if they fixed it and I looked at it again I said there's clearly still clear coat all over on the side. This is now the 4th time I set my car back to these incompetent people for them to fix it... There's a guy by the name of Dan or Dennis I'm not too sure I forget it's been about a year now but that guy is supposed to be the manager and he is one of the most incompetent people you will run into in this field... If I were anybody that's reading this review do not and I repeat do not go to the Gerber in Elgin 801 North State Street they will mess up your car they obviously don't care about the car they just care about the money that they're going to be getting and they charge a lot of money for my Shelby and yet the quality of work was crap and its still not completely fixed till this day I want the corporate to get ahold of me so that they can actually try and fix my car the way it's supposed to be fixed and not the way these people fixed it which was horrendous so if you guys really do care about your corporation I suggest you guys get in contact with me right away read more
