Finally made it over to this very highly rated restaurant on our recent visit to town. It was our third fine dining meal of the week (we went a little overboard since we had been cooped up for over a year). It was excellent and we enjoyed it a lot but probably would have enjoyed it even more if it were the only super fancy meal we had on a trip. That said there was a lot to like here. They brought us a complimentary champagne toast as we were celebrating date night, that was nice of them. It wasn't really a particular occasion but still a celebration of being vaxxed and able to travel safely! Hubs enjoyed his old fashioned, I asked for something like either an apple or pear martini heavier on the sweet than the strong and they did a great job with the appletini. I enjoyed the bread bowl, it had great wafer thin crisp lavash, a green Chile bread and IIRC a sourdough. They had a special short rib gnocchi appetizer that was quite tasty. It was something like 24 he sous vide short rib so super tender. Nice mellow flavor profile. For the entree Hubs got scallops and I got the Maine lobster tail pasta. I actually rarely order lobster, but after several nights of steak I was ready for something different. It was delicious. I would absolutely order it again. For the dessert course surprisingly few of the desserts were really speaking to me. We ordered a toffee panna cotta type custard with passion fruit sorbet. I liked the sorbet better than the custard mainly because toffee isn't my favorite. It was a good dish, don't get me wrong, just not really for me. Service was excellent. Definitely a good choice for date night especially if you are staying in the Canyon Road neighborhood and want to walk as we did. read more

Class all the way. Valley is offered here, but I didn't have a problem finding free street parking at night one block away. Reservation is required, so call at least a week ahead. Service was impeccable. Best we experienced in New Mexico BY FAR. Our waiter knew how each dish was prepared, all seasonal touches, and was ready with recommendations if we needed them. Everyone was served at the table at the exact same time. Food and drinks were well timed. Atmosphere: upscale elegant from the light music, to the art, to the complimentary sparking wine starter. A strict dress code isn't enforced (I saw a woman in new balance sneakers), but please...use this as an excuse to get dressed up! Food: everything was inspired and enjoyed but the standout of the night with the elk tenderloin. I'd never had elk before, but this was amazing!! So tender and lean with the tastiest sauce and petite veggies. That elk dish has been on their menu for 20 years for a reason!! read more

Worth a visit but once you're through the door you could be in NYC or LA or SF and the Santa Fe flavors and specialties are not represented. read more

My husband and I were visiting Santa Fe and were so happy to get a reservation at this amazing restaurant! This is a 5 star establishment for sure. The hostesses and servers are top notch. I ordered a green lotus cocktail and it was superb! I got the featured fish. It was delicious! My husband had the Ribeye and it was maybe the best he's ever had- so tender, perfectly seasoned. Great experience and great meal! The night began with a surprise and complimentary champagne toast, which really set the tone for the evening. We began by sharing the Wasabi Caesar, which was a unique, light and refreshing salad. I'm excited to attempt a poor man's version of this dressing at home. If anything, we could have gone for even more wasabi/horse radish. The Wagyu Beef Carpaccio was another beautiful and bright dish on a warm evening. For entrees we shared the elk tenderloin and the night's special, swordfish steak on a green chile risotto. I had my eye on the elk prior to arriving, and the signature dish did not disappoint. I don't like comparing a complexly constructed dish like this to just a quality steak, as they're different meals, but this was one of my all-time favorite steak experiences. The swordfish was phenomenal as well. The table side pour over of fish broth was a nice touch. If there was one complaint of the evening, the swordfish was slightly dry (seemed just a bit over cooked). When mixed with the risotto and the fish broth, the swordfish's dryness wasn't all that noticeable, but you could certainly tell in isolated bites. I'd add that the hatch green chile risotto may have been the star of the evening. The lemon crepe was recommended for dessert and was also delicious. I only wish that we'd noticed the fillings a bit earlier so we could have balanced each bite a bit more. The limoncello syrup was notable and literally drinkable (which we absolutely did). Drinks were great and enhanced the evening. The bartender made a great Sazerac (albeit without Sazerac Rye) and Old Fashioned. The Old Fashioned had a splash of Club Soda, which feels old school and quite rare these days. Our server did a great job recommending reasonable wine pairings for the entrees and dessert. The bill was as expected and in line with the quality and experience delivered. Finally, I'll note how great our server Grant was. He did a wonderful job pacing the evening. He offered guidance and direction on both food and drink when we needed it, but he was never pushy. We received his full attention despite not being the biggest ticket in the restaurant (or even his section) that evening. His service really enhanced the experience. Thank you to Chef Cruz and his team for a wonderful dining experience. Well done. Although we'll likely visit other restaurants on our next trip to Santa Fe (there's too much good food here), I can assure you that we'll be back. read more

This was a great way to start off our vacation and to celebrate our birthdays. I love how the seating in the restaurant feels open but when you sit down, it feels intimate and quiet. We had a great couple from Hawaii next to us celebrating their anniversary and had great conversation with them throughout the evening. We laughed, complimented each other's meals and wished each other the best as we departed. Those are the best moments when you travel are the people you meet along the way. As for the service, Frank was welcoming, hilarious and accommodating for whatever it is we needed during our meal. Once we knew we both were in good company of each other it made the exchange with him super fun and easy. That was great. The thing about dining at a place like this is with your meal, you find balance in flavors, temperature and presentation. We started with the crab cakes and a salad and they complimented the wine we chose for the night. Super clean flavors and just enough to lead us into the main course. For the main dish, we went with the scallops and the short ribs. The scallops were buttery complimented with the brothy risotto. The short ribs paired with truffles and demi glace just brings you back to a traditional french meal perfectly cooked. It sets a standard to traditional flavors and cuisine and I appreciated that. It was a new play on something but you got to experience what's been achieved to be timeless as dishes. read more

I can't wait to go back to this restaurant especially after the owner called and talk to me about my not so positive review. She was truly concerned and it was very heart felt that it wasn't my five-star experience. We spent a fair amount of time on the phone just chatting about the restaurant business and while I was in Santa Fe eating at her restaurant she was in Denver. I was previously in the restaurant business for many, many, years ago, I know how things happen when I wasn't there to help control what was going on in the kitchen and out of the kitchen. One of the owners is who I received a phone call from and I believe her name was Mary. Mary said that she would do what ever she needed to do to make it right, I totally believe that's true, so next time I go back to Santa Fe I will be looking her up. She is the type of person that I want to have in my life and especially a type a person that owns a restaurant that reaches out to people to figure out what might of happened to not get that five star review. Mary you are a gem! You not only take pride and your restaurant but you take much pride in your life. Eating in this 250 year old restored adobe was a delight. Patrons enjoying their meal on a charming little porch was the first thing we noticed and it felt like we were in another place almost like an idyllic TV program from the past. The staff greeted us warningly and knew right away to congratulate us on our anniversary, we sat at the "bar" and were again greeted kindly this time by Steve and Sean who from that point on were nothing short of awesome we could not have asked for better service. We were warmly greeted upon entering the restaurant and deftly cared for by the staff throughout the entire evening. Upon seating, we were treated to complimentary glasses of Gruet sparkling wine. We then, then enjoyed a couple of superb cocktails including the Senior Lopez, Geronimo's version of an Old Fashioned. The Wagyu Beef Carpaccio and Bitter Greens and Smoked Duck Salad starters were outstanding. The New Mexico Four Corners Rack of Lamb was cooked perfectly and bursting with flavor. Wow! By far the best restaurant in Santa Fe. I've been here four or five times and each time was just as incredible as the last. World-class staff, fantastic wine selection, absolutely delicious food. I highly recommend the wasabi Caesar salad and the croutons are to die for. My fiancé adores the sashimi appetizer. My husband and I recently had a wonderful experience with friends at Geronimo. The staff was warm and welcoming. It was a busy Friday night, but they made us feel like we were special. In particular, our server Christine was exceptional. She was pleasant, competent, and knowledgeable. Her recommendations for food and wine/drink pairings were spot on. The food was the best we have had in Santa Fe, which is high praise with all the fine restaurants there. I so enjoyed my wasabi salad and lamb, but really everything we tasted was delicious. Perfect meal and experience. We sat out in the new tented outdoor room on a hardwood floor that still felt elegant. We were sat a good distance from other diners and the staff were very responsible and made us comfortable (this was our first restaurant experience in 7 months). All of our dishes were perfect - the sashimi and carpaccio were our starters and we could have eaten them as entrées and were still thinking of them the next day. Next we tried the mushroom bisque which was one of the best I've ever had. For entrées we had the honey shrimp with jasmine rice cakes and the risotto with asparagus and fried artichokes. Ambience, service and food were exceptional! We were concerned that it was only outdoor seating but the setting was very well done. The tables were well over six foot apart and all waiters and support were wearing masks. We felt very safe. We started off with crab cake and it was perfect, easily one of the best we have ever had. My wife had Miso Sea Bass and it was very good. I had the rack of New Mexico Lamb, the best lamb I have ever had. Michelle was our waiter and she was amazing, very attentive and always timely. Great personality! The wine list was extensive, good pricing. Lest I forget, we were celebrating our 43rd Anniversary and Geronimo made it very special. One of our top 10 meals of all time! I did not enjoy my dinner here. Food was okay, mainly. The service was very clumsy and awkward. The tables are way too close to one another, it felt cramped. The waiter was very snooty, seemed down on us because we didn't order alcohol -- who said we have to order wine? Then he was acting weird because one of the members of our party was on a limited diet. The waiter and the very awkward dinner staff would arrive at the very worst moment, awkwardly interrupting us and knocking their plates around. Their priority seemed to be on "them setting the plate down because they just brought it", not the fact that they are interrupting/inconveniencing a customer who is in the middle of a conversation in this supposedly fine dining establishment, Once again, the waiter would awkwardly and rudely barge in when we're in the middle of something and talk over us, interrupt us, etc, etc. I've had better service at McDonald's, please save your money and go elsewhere. It's just an unpleasant, inauthentic vibe of the whole place that reeks of arrogance, false self importance, and snootiness. You guys are just a restaurant, you bring people food on a plate, you're really not that important despite the fact that you seem to think that you are. Sorry! =) My idea of good restaurant service is -- the waiter is friendly, smiles, is accommodating and helpful, and appears at the right moment. That's not what we got at Geronimo -- the waiter was snooty, unaccamodating, unhelpful, interrupting at worst moments and creating awkwardness/looking down on you because you don't order wine. Five star place with a four star review. My first time in Santa Fe. All of the "foodie" lists highlighted this place. we booked reservations well in advance. There were four of us for dinner, occasion was our friends wedding anniversary. They brought a nice bottle of wine for us to enjoy (flew here with it on the plane special). We were very bummed that the restaurant would not allow us to open the wine. Our server Joseph C said there was a strict no outside alcohol policy which just started us off on the wrong foot. He then brought us their standard small glass of sparkling wine to start off the evening which was just meh. Things got a lot better from there. Cocktails were good. Joseph knew the menu very well and was able to provide great guidance to our table. We took his recommendation on the ahi tuna and crab cake appetizers. Joseph suggested these for the table first and then our soup and salad to follow. The ahi was a stand out for us, perfect mix of sweet and savory. We had tomato bisque and the pear salad for next course. All very good but our favorite was the tiny grilled cheese hidden in the pear salad. So much fun! Mains were short rib (described as a labor of love), elk, salmon, and steak with fries (Joseph's favorite). The steak and fries came with so many yummy sauces it was delicious. We also found that we could order a side of those incredible fries with any meal (off menu tip). All of the mains were great. The real problem was that we were getting so full we could not finish! Should have skipped the soup and salad in hindsight. We ordered the "apple" for dessert. So fun! It looks like an apple but it's filled with mousse and apple pieces. The crunchy buttery crumble in the side was my favorite part. The ending of our meal was another odd moment. We were unable to get an Uber back to our hotel. The restaurant ended up helping us find a driver but it involved a couple of awkward conversations (tmi for this this review) and a good 20 minute wait. So if not driving, make sure you have organized yourself a ride home well in advance the end of your meal. read more

Our favorite restaurant so far (in Santa Fe), from start to finish. It's location is tricky - you should plan for the valet. My husband and I were seated at a table that didn't seem to offer much privacy; I so appreciate the manager responding immediately and discreetly with a much better location for us. Well, no calorie was spared on this dining adventure! The appetizer crab cakes were diminutive but fabulous. The wasabi Caesar salad was somewhat deconstructed (I was happy to add the anchovy - it was much milder than some). Honestly I could have eaten an entire bowl of the salad's croutons. They were impossibly crisp on the outside yet soft and warm on the inside, delicately seasoned. The perfect touch of wasabi in the dressing. The lobster bisque was delectable, especially after adding the side of yummy corn, peas and other goodies on the very-wide rim of the bowl. My husband loved his elk tenderloin but I was too busy loving the regular tenderloin (medium rare). Horseradish, a brown gravy, sauteed onions, and a mildly spicy Hollandaise sauce were presented beautifully on the side. The brown gravy was drinkable; it actually had a note of orange. The onions were like candy; I ate them by themselves. The dainty French fries were hot and salted just right. The creme brulee was truly a work of art. It's difficult to say which element was the most delicious. The toffee-flavored brulee? The pear sorbet? The buttery biscuit on top with drops of lemon (curd?) and chocolate? Probably the latter! You'd think there would be too much going on with this dessert. Definitely not, hubby and I scraped the plate clean. :) Elise was darling and very attentive. You will know it's her because she sounds exactly like Drew Barrymore. It's worth mentioning that every aspect of the the ambience will not disappoint. Drove from Albuquerque to Santa Fe for a lovely date night with my husband before the restaurants all close indoor seating again! The food was delicious, ambiance was dim and romantic, the service was mostly good. Our lamb chop entree was quite large with 4 chops. Husband wanted to save one of the lamb chops for his "late night snack" so we asked the waiter to box it up for us. Unfortunately, he didn't understand what we said? ... and ended up throwing it out :(. Probably would have given 5 stars had this not happened. The price tag is steep so it's definitely a celebratory type of place! We'd would consider coming back for another special occasion and just plan not to have leftovers. read more

You can't charge $60 plus for entrees and serve that cheap crap stuff on your elk tenderloin. Beyond disappointed. Thank goodness my date of 28 years was still amazing so all was not lost but damn that was so disappointing to see how this place is no longer worth visiting Santa Fe for. We Started with the Pan-Seared Foie Gras(Mille-Feuille Puff Pastry, Pineapple Relish, Cherry-Fennel Puree & Duck Demi) and it was delicious! I had the Wild Mushroom & Sherry Bisque and the temperature was cooler than I would have liked, but it was good. We had the beef ribs and and wagyu strip for entrees. One of the most pretentious restaurants in Santa Fe! You can spend $150 and consider stopping at Wendy's or Subway on your way home. Stiff, cold, wooden staff... Miniscule portions. Everything "A La Carte." A 5 oz glass (often less!) of $20. wine: $15. a glass! Santa Fe can be funny like that. Some restaurants market to tourists, serving watered-down Margaritas and potato-filled soups (every professional cook knows that potatoes are just cheap fillers.) This is my favorite restaurant. Service is excellent, food is excellent, each and every time I've been here has been fantastic.

So happy that we found such a gem in Santa Fe. First off, this place is hard to find. It's squeezed into a residential/ commercial street, so if you are driving for a long time and see a bunch of houses - keep going you're on the right track!! The place was elegantly decorated, a bit dark but that is to the expected since the setting is very much geared towards couples and intimate groups as oppose to families with small kids. They do have coat check available. To start I had the leek and white asparagus bisque with crab! O-M-G, now that I'm reviewing this I'm salivating and drooling all over my keyboard! SO good! 5/5 The Mr got their endive salad. I'm not a big endive fan, even though I know it's one of those hoity-toity vegetables.... :-/ He got one of their house speciality which was Elk. I can't eat gamey meat, but the gentleman sitting to left got really excited upon hearing that my husband was debating between Elk or the NY Steak, and insisted that he get the Elk and to get it Medium Rare. He enjoyed it a great deal! As for yours truly, I had the Miso Sea Bass. Being Asian , I'm partial to anything "Asian-y". But I don't think I've ever had ramen quite like this, let alone ramen at a Michelin worthy establishment. The ramen is actually buried underneath the fish and vegetables. It's such a creative dish! And I actually don't even like ramen - I much prefer udon. But this dish was awesome! 5/5 For desserts they presented me with banana cream brûlée/pie(?) see pic and we ordered the flourless chocolate cake. Both were very yummy! And it came with ice cream!
