First time in DTRR and this spot caught my eye because it was on the street corner. Upon arrival it took at least 5 minutes before someone was available to greet us and seat us (it wasn't busy during this time). I ordered miso soup and was very surprised it was not the first thing out. In fact I almost forgot about it since my other items arrived before it. I also asked for a refill of bon chon and my server acknowledged and said they would bring it out (it never came). Overall the food was good and price is fair. Service was okay but didn't seem as though the team was very experienced or trained well. Thankfully the main entrees were good but the sides tasted like they were served out of the jar and not made in-house. Ghana Zone is a cozy and inviting Korean restaurant. I ordered the Vegan Kimbap and Avocado Tofu Pocket, and both were absolutely delicious -- fresh, flavorful, and satisfying. I was tempted to try the Tteokbokki and Bibimbap too, but wasn't sure if they were vegetarian, and the staff didn't seem sure either. We loved the food at Ghama Zone! Everything was fresh, flavorful, and beautifully presented. The bibimbap was colorful and delicious, the short ribs were perfectly tender and juicy (though it took over 25 mins to get), and the seafood pancakes and dumplings were crispy and satisfying. I had high expectations for this place. I love korean food very easily. it doesn't take much for me to enjoy korean food. i understand the modern take element, however, it fell very flat in honoring the authentic taste of the korean dishes we tried. 1. truffle potato pancake - firstly, it was SOAKED in oil. i promise i am not exaggerating for a review. this is our go-to appetizer with the group of friends i went with. none of us wanted to finish it cause it was so much grease drenched in the thin potato pancake. idk if they need to fry it at a higher temp or smt but it was not cooked with the right technique. and for $20, it felt very overpriced for the flaky parm with a dollop of mediocre truffle aioli. 2. kimchi stew - this was a strange good & not-good mix. the broth is really meaty which i can appreciate but strangely it taste more like a yukgaejang than a kimchi stew. idk if they want to intentionally sugarcoat the sour fermented flavor of kimchi stew but i barely tasted the kimchi in the broth. seems like they used the same kimchi as their banchan so it didnt add much to the broth. seemed pointless. there was a LOT of meat in it. i know thats not something to complain but it felt really disproportionate. they used firm tofu, not soft tofu. my conclusion is. label it as something else cause i barely got kimchi in the broth and this is my go-to and i'm easily satisfied. 3 . tofu pockets - they were a good size. sturdy structure. not too salty, not too overseasoned. good proportion of rice to toppings. my vegetarian friend enjoyed the avocado mayo one, it was a nice light mayo. the seafood pocket is an enjoyable bite. 4 . short rib - the texture was the most impressive part to me. my friend enjoyed it more cause it has a sweeter marinade on the plating with the meat and the sauce on the side is a light sweet soy sauce (?). in my opinion, having two sweet sauces on the meat feels very redundant in taste. esp since the spring onion salad also had a sweet-vinegary dressing. the similar flavors started to become muddied which was a shame cause the cook of the short ribs was great. if the ribs had a more savory or garlicky flavor paired with sweet components, i wouldnt have gotten bored of the taste as quickly. 5 . beef rib soup - broth was good, very little noodles for how big it was...? the ratio of the soup to soup filling is strange in conclusion, i was sadly disappointed. i feel like they struggle with balance in terms of ratio of a dish & the sweet/acidic/salty elements of a dish. i would expect a restaurant who charges these high prices would put that into consideration more. this is my genuine constructive feedback so i will leave it at that. read more

Tried Ghama Zone, a Korean restaurant in downtown Round Rock, and had a mixed experience. The food itself wasn't bad. We ordered the tofu pockets, which I enjoyed, and the overall flavors were alright but they were quick 2 biters for me. The biggest drawback is the pricing in my opinion. Their galbi jjim is $72, with an additional $3 just to add cheese, which feels a bit excessive. On the plus side, the ambiance is nice and moody, and we went during a quiet time. When more people came in than expected, the staff accommodated everyone without issue. Overall, decent food and atmosphere, but the high prices make it hard to justify coming back often. I went once and I don't think I have much desire to go back due to high pricing. read more

I am so excited to discover a delicious Korean restaurant in downtown Round Rock. If you can't find street parking in front, there is a lot in the back where you can park for free. **SERVICE** We went for lunch on a Sunday and there were plenty of seats available. They have both counter and table seating. Our server was attentive and checked in with us to refill the side dishes throughout our meal. **FOOD** - Bulgogi Pocket & Kimchi Shrimp Pocket (5/5) - I was super intrigued by their pockets since I've never had them before and wow these were incredible. You get the option of either having with tofu or wrapped in seaweed. We got the bulgogi one with tofu and shrimp one with seaweed which I think were perfect pairings. - Bulgogi Hot Pot (5/5) - I wanted a soup dish with noodles and this did not disappoint. I love the little cauldron it came with. The pot has glass noodles in it but the dish also comes with a side of rice. I initially thought it was pretty small but I was surprised how full I became by the end of it. I would say it was the right portion for me. - Bibimbap (4.5/5) - It's been awhile since I had bibimbap and I would say this was pretty good. I loved the soup that it came with on the side. My family and I got a booth close to the window where you can still view downtown. We tried a lot of appetizers. Seafood Pancake $18, Mandu-gangjung $10. They make the freshest kimbap, I've ever tasted. The New Era Kimbap is my absolute favorite. It's Crab, Fried Shrimp, Ham, Carrots, Pickle Radish, Pollack Mayo Top: Smoked Salmon, Eel Sauce, White sauce. Yum We had great service overall. I'm utterly disappointed in this restaurant. We waited a total of an hour and a half while supposedly being at the front of the line. When the waiter told us we had 10-15 minutes we then waited 40. We went to the waiter and she told us that we weren't even at the front. Though, the app was saying the opposite. I'm more disappointed than I was when Rac7 gave sneaky Sasquatch the farm update, more disappointed than when Mordecai threw a chair at the admin. What I love about this restaurant is it consistent. At this point I have visited this restaurant at least five times. I've tried various items on the menu and I'm always happy with what I get. There is a large menu, so there are many more dishes to experience. I have tried the Garlic wings, Galbi JJim, Bulgogi (one of my favorites), Hot Pot Bulgogi, Beef Rib soup, Bacon Kimchi Kimbab, Crab Salad (another one of my favorites), Crab all in pockets, Avocado mayo mix pockets just to name a few. I have enjoyed everything. In the beginning Banchan was not offered. Now that issue has been corrected and now, they serve 2 types of Kimchi, fish cake and a macaroni salad. They keep the restaurant clean, and the service is always very friendly. The decor is nice with rich dark woods and modern lighting fixtures. The kimbop was so good, they had a little tofu pocket which was delicious as well. My friend and I split a soju tower and an order of the Army Base soup/stew. I left full, and satisfied every time I've gone in until this last time. We went last week and they took off almost everything we enjoyed! No more kimbop, no more tofu pocket, no soju tower!?? Giving some grace due to the workers appearing understaffed during peak hours. We called ahead to make a reservation for Saturday night dinner. We were seated right away but waited about 10 minutes to get menus. Throughout the night the restaurant got more crowded and it became more difficult to get anyone's attention to pay for our meal. The food itself is pretty good and offers a good variety of traditional Korean dishes. The original tteokbokki is solid here - pretty spicy but also has a slightly sweet undertone and adding ramen and dumplings made it even better. We also ordered a Crab All In tofu pocket (fave), sweet chili wings to satisfy our Korean fried chicken craving, and hodduk ice cream for dessert. Side dishes weren't especially generous but good enough. The restaurant is clean, modern, and located in the newly revitalized downtown Round Rock that is fun to walk around. Well I did not try this place until recently and I do believe this may be some of the best Korean food in this town. The host and staff were very friendly and the dishes came out in a timely manner. Galbi jjim was insane. Galbi jjim always hits so maybe that's my bias. But we ordered a few dishes and it ended up being more than we could finish between the two of us for dinner. I think the prices are fair for good Korean food, and everything was seasoned well, and the flavor of everything from the starter to the banchan to the short rib was insane. Ambiance is nice and in a cool part of Round Rock. I used to live in pretty much Koreatown and ate a lot of Korean food growing up so my standards are high. I came to this location last Friday to get a meal to-go. Let's get to it, shall we? When I walked into the location, I was greeted by the host, who advised that I could place an order with him and wait at the bar while my order was being prepared. Once I placed my order, I sat at the bar and watched various Banchan being made. The restaurant has a clean aesthetic and sharp/crisp lines in all decor throughout the restaurant. What I got: Bulgogi hot pot Jeongol is a Korean word for hot pot. There are a variety of ingredient options for jeongol, such as Korean bulgogi, fresh seafood, dumplings, mushrooms, tofu, and fish cakes. Bulgogi jeongol is a Korean beef hot pot dish with marinated bulgogi meat, a variety of vegetables, and glass noodles (dangmyeon) in a savory and slightly sweet broth. Usually, leafy vegetables are used for dishes such as this like napa cabbage, spinach, bok choy, watercress, Swiss chard, choy sum, etc. However, this dish featured carrots as its vegetable. I was able to taste both the savory and sweet undertones within this dish. However, the lack of vegetable variety within this dish was a disappointment. But, this establishment is supposed to be 'non traditional', so perhaps this is the reason why for the lack of some traditional elements within the dish. Crab Salad I've had a Korean cucumber and Crab Stick Salad. But, this was not that. It's a traditional crab salad with fresh greens, cucumbers, onions, and cherry tomatoes. Our server was sweet and patient with us which we all appreciated. The bibimbap was not the best I have had but it was still pretty good, I don't think I would order it again from here. The food is all really delicious! Of all the Korean restaurants I've tried around the Austin area, this might be the best. However for the prices, I don't think it worth it at all. The tofu pockets were each $4/5 and it was kind of crazy to me that dishes like tteokbokki and kimbap and army stew (notorious for being cheap and like quick at home options or street food) were actually quite expensive. And sadly, I wasn't even full when we finished the meal. I can understand needing to make a profit and maybe the location of the restaurant is expensive. But the pricing kind of disappointed me. Stopped in on a Fri night. They were busy, so about an hour wait for a party of 4. Friendly staff, and got to kind of watch everyone else's orders to anticipate ours. It's modern style decor, a little trendy, and great food. We ordered the Ghama hansang, short rib steak, army base stew, seafood pancake, Terra beer and Jinro grape bottle for the table. General manager, Jonathan?, was really nice when bringing out our food. Hands down winner of the night was the short rib steak. So delectable. Pork bulgogi is wonderfully sweet and tasty. They have some seaweed salad and scallions on top, which was interesting, but also delicious. It comes with truffle butter!!! Soo good!! I put some of it in the lettuce with the meat and ate it as a wrap. I'm quite familiar with Korean food (used to work at a Korean restaurant) but love how the server explains all the different sections of the menu-from Tteokbokki to kimbap. Love the portion size. I was only able to finish half and I was hungry!! I did finish the bowl of rice. If you ask for more rice, it does cost extra. Side dishes are refillable, as is typical with Korean food.
