I ordered the Melrose and the Uncle Nikki on Postmates, and the sandwiches were very delicious. However, it is pretty asinine to charge $1 for an addition of MUSTARD or MAYO to a sandwich if it's not already on it. 1$? Especially considering the prices of the sandwiches? It is also worth noting that the XXL size (which is what I ordered accidentally) is supposed to be STACKED, but I felt like they just stacked way more lettuce and put the absolute bare minimum meat. Now I was still very much full with 3/4ths of a sandwich, so it's really just down to price-to-ingredient ratio. I also saw, like many others, the owner's response to a review where the owner was being incredibly unprofessional. I worked in food service, specifically in local restaurants, so I understand the frustration with certain customers, but at the end of the day, as a business owner, you must always remain professional. Now I don't really care about that myself, but it's definitely not a good look for the people that do care, and many Americans care a LOT about service and professionalism. And finally, my stomach was not having a good time afterwards. I don't know if it's from the spicy sauce I added, or if the sandwich wasn't handled with clean hands and fresh gloves, so I'm not going to make any hasty assumptions. So I rate this place a 4. What would make it a 5? For one, don't charge for basic additions like lettuce, pickles, mayo, and mustard, and make sure the meat ratio is appropriate in the sandwiches that are advertised as being stacked with more meat. I understand inflation and rent are out of control especially in this area, so I can't complain about the base prices of the sandwiches when the prices everywhere else are just as bad, but make sure that you make up for the price with proper ratios and good service, which includes not charging for basic additions. read more

Happy to confirm that the sandwiches here are really really great. Had the Melrose XL and the flavors were really packed in this sandwich. And beyond it being just a good sandwich, the sauces and bread and everything else they add into it make it more than just a sandwich you could make for yourself at home. Yeah lol but it's LA, and they're massive Bonus stuff: When we walked in there was an employee at the door that asked if it was our first time, which it was and then gave us the run down of the place, explained the sizing, the bread, let us know what the most popular was, emphasized we could personalize it, offered us water... SUCH a nice touch!! Also the guy that brought out our sandwiches I thought was incredibly nice and friendly and talked to us a bit even though they were absolutely packed inside, and after when I checked out their instagram I realized that was the owner haha I love when an owner of a place is involved in working it and also interacts with the customer, that says so much to me about the kind of business it is. For the one point down (not enough to dock a star from the review because the food and service was spot on) as far as we could tell, there wasn't any parking. A DoorDash guy had parked literally in the middle of the street outside the store, we stole a spot in the alley in the back we definitely could've been towed from. I think there's a garage across the street, but it says "monthly" so we figured that was only for that buildings employees. I can't stand a place that likes to over complicate something as simple as a sandwich. I've come here before and had their signature firebird sandwich which was super underwhelming but today was near the area and craving a sandwich so I decide to give them another try. I decided to built my own as I was just craving a turkey sandwich, nothing crazy. I added simple things and realized it was nearly an $18 sandwich. Taking just the first bite, I can tell the sandwich was trash!! Disproportion with the lettuce and cucumbers I paid EXTRA to add on. Then realized it was dry af because there was no mayo. I went it to ask if they had packets and they said they didn't.. I just asked if I can get some on the side and they did but he had to squeeze in there that "we usually charge extra." shut the fuck up. For an $18 sandwhich, just give me the damn mayo bro! The bread is weird too. Has a weird sweet taste that does not compliment anything. Wish I would have went to Firehouse Subs. Not to mention, they use an outside source for their bread and Boars Head for their deli meat so there's not anything special about what they use to make these sandwiches cost as much as they do. Why are things like lettuce and mayo add ons? Just ridiculous! Stomach has also been hurting for hours after eating there.
