[[HIGHLIGHT]]A very cute, old-school diner serving classic hamburgers.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The burgers were exactly as advertised, GIANT, and made fresh. My favorite part were the perfectly crispy French fries. I am a pickle girlie and yesss those pickles were HUGEEE - a fun surprise. Everything was cooked right in front of us by the sweetest old chef, which made the whole experience feel homey. We ordered 2 cheeseburgers, 2 fries, and a large soda for $33. The pies looked amazing too, but we were way too full to try them - maybe next time! Overall, a really solid burger spot. You order and pay at the counter, then grab any open seat. They take card as well. I also liked how they had a variety of sauces, my favorite the hot mustard. Highly recommend this spot if you're craving burgers!

Small diner, but the booths will fit an xxl!

I arrived as the crowd was thinning out so we were served immediately. I was told the patty was 1/3 of a pound but it honestly seemed larger. I was craving a "Tommy Burger" (a SoCal staple) so I ordered a cheeseburger and a bowl of chili. The combination satisfied my craving and then some. The chili was super tasty and added another level to their burger. I would have lowered my review by one star due to the price, but I didn't cause prices are up all over. The service was polite and efficient. I'll come again and just order the chili burger now that I know their chili is up to snuff.

Very fresh burgers, cooked right in front of you. It takes a lil while since they are cooked so fresh. Delicious fries. Burger was so big you must share with someone, I got the cheeseburger added bacon Chili is ok. *[[HIGHLIGHT]]Takes you back in time to a really old school diner.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]Only complaint was it was a little warm in the restaurant.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]It's a small space, but when you go in for lunch etc you want to escape the PHX heat.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] We got 3 meals for $23 GREAT PRICES

After over a year living in Mesa, Giant Hamburger is clearly one of the very best burger in town. This place has been open 27 years with the same owner and cook working 5 days a week. I can't even imagine how many burgers they have served. The Fries are exceptional- the secret is the oil which exclusively only cooks fries! No onion rings and the fish/chicken is cooked on the grill. Today, for the first time, I'm going for the Chili Chees

GIANT cheeseburger, grilled onions and pickles with fry's. Soooooo good.

Wow, can't believe it's been two years since an update. Still love this place. One of the best small locally owned burger + joints around. Great for breakfast, pies and shakes. Just plain our live this place. Doug and Cesar are still here and the help they have (Rachel) are wonderful. Put this place on your list as a must visit. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The place is clean and all food is made to order.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Like I said in an earlier post, it's kind of like Bobs burgers from TV. Thanks crew, you are great!

[[HIGHLIGHT]]Tucked away in a strip mall this quaint diner offers a nostalgic 50's diner experience.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] If you are looking for fast food quick service, this is not your place. We were greeted at the counter by a nice gentleman who was humorous and friendly. Our order was served tableside and delivered hot and fresh. From the first bite to the last we enjoyed crisp iceberg lettuce, juicy tomatoes and a perfectly cooked patty. The fries were nicely seasoned. They do not have Coke Zero . [[HIGHLIGHT]]Restaurant was a little warm and got busy after we got there.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] We will definitely be back.

The best burger I've had in AZ! Everything is always fresh, customer service is always amazing, I love the topping options, the malt shakes, homemade pies. A true hidden gem!! My best friend showed me this place years ago and I show all my friends from out of town!

It's definitely a spot that catches your eye and makes for a cute dining experience. The service was good and everyone was friendly. We started with the green fried tomatoes on sourdough, which were an interesting take and a fun item to try. We also ordered the jambalaya, and while the flavors were decent, it was on the drier side and didn't quite have the rich, saucy consistency I was hoping for. Overall, the food was okay, but I think the atmosphere is what really makes Welcome Diner stand out. I'd definitely come back to enjoy the cute retro vibes and try a few other things on the menu. We eat at hole in the walls and expensive places. But often we look at each other and choose between Dennys or VI, and are happy! Today, May 16th at VI on Signal Butte - rough start by a waitress who told both of us "I need to know your pie order. NOW." Resturant was not busy. Not at all. It was 4:15 maybe. Slow on a SUNDAY post-winter visitor rush on a late Spring day. Rushed. I pointed to my 3-6pm dinner choice of TURKEY. I showed her. "Just as it comes. She repeated it back to me as she typed in into her handheld computer. Chicken fried steak arrived. And a sausage looking oval patty shape of stuffing. Two long finger prints in it. I wondered if she picked up my loose stuffing as it's normally served here in America, or rather the chef did this to all who request it. I told my husband to look for spit in his food. My hubby? Nicest guy ever. But when he knows I didn't want and could not manage fried beef..but I had fasted 21 hours. I needed sliced fresh high protein meat. Wait another 15 min or eat the mess on my plate? I was too tired this week to be extremely understanding but I'm never rude. I told my hubby let's both let this one go. And I said "But we won't return here." He nodded in agreement. I went with the corned beef hash + pancakes breakfast, and it delivered that old-school diner energy. The hash was hearty and filling, eggs cooked just right, and the pancakes? Soft, golden, and exactly what you expect--nothing fancy, just solid. But let's be clear... the real reason you come here is the pie. Village Inn doesn't play about their pies, and the banana cream pie is the headline act.
