Honest mom and pop's bike shop. They didn't have any kids bikes but they were really nice and transparent about what they have. The price range seems high like 400-600 but I think they need to make money so it is totally understandable. It would have been great if we could support the local business but if they don't have the products we need, we couldn't. I still would recommend this place to anyone looking for adult bikes and helmets

I've been coming here for years to get my bike tires filled. I needed a bike for my son and came here to support a local shop and their prices were very competitive compared to Dick's and REI. I got a bmx bike because I didn't want to get a mountain climbing bike with gears. Just needed one that he can ride around the neighborhood and for that a bmx is perfect! Ricky sold me my bike. He also installed a bike kick stand for us. I also brought in my son's older bike and put on training wheels so that my other kid can ride my son's old bike. Service with a smile. Super friendly. All the service I received in the past were awesome. Am a loyal, satisfied customer!

I see all these bad reviews (although they are mostly from several years ago) and don't get it. I have been coming here a good bit during the covid lockdowns and had nothing but good experiences. Good prices, very fast service (1 day for a new bottom bracket) and the guy who runs it -I think- is friendly and helpful. I have 4 vintage road bikes that I have been restoring and riding every day and Gilbert's is the LBS I choose.

Gilbert's shop helped me to finish my build!

I keep coming back to Gilbert's and never dissappointed! Their son Ricky helped me to finish another classic Puch build! This time a six speed! Great prices and great service! I'm a few cities away, but this is my go to local bike shop! Ignore all of these negative reviews, just a bunch of people with hurt egos. You go to a professional like Gilbert's to get your bike situated (repaired, fixed, replaced, etc.). Simple as that. Its like going to the mechanic and somehow you know more than the mechanic. Ego out the door. Support small businesses.

Look at the other reviews, they are either really good or really bad. I saw both sides of Gilbert's. The first time I came here, the sales lady (Mrs Gilbert?) basically gave me the stink eye - I swore I'd never go there again. Then the other day I was at Sports Chalet and the bike guy there told me to go to Gilbert's for a part they did not carry. Reluctantly, I went. Gilbert's is a tiny shop packed with bikes and bike parts. The same lady was there but this time I spoke with the bike mechanic (Mr. Gilbert?). He was very helpful and gave me great advice/instructions on how to fix my bike. By the time I paid, the lady also warmed up to me. I know, I grow on people but this time I think I saw the real side of the folks that work/own the place. It may be a matter of language barrier, so for those that had a bad experience I suggest giving Gilbert's another try. Gilbert's is not a high tech high performance bike shop but if you have an old ride like mine, it is a great place to get an inexpensive part. Next time? I'll probably be back this weekend for the continuing saga of refurbishing my bike.

This place has been around for over 35 years.

I brought my old Diamondback in for a full tune up and Ricky did a fantastic job of diagnosing any and all for me.

Art was patient with all of our questions, encouraging we pay attention to how the bike felt and giving us his expert feedback. The selection of affordable bikes and the fact that I didn't have to deal with bike racks while still having a full- size fat tire bike was a big deal for me . With so many different bike shops I visited, I wish I had visited Go Ebikes sooner. I am so happy with my purchase and knowing a 1-year warranty backs it up.

After waiting two weeks, I received a text saying the bike was ready and that the total would be $89.99, including parts and labor. When I arrived to pick up the bike, I was told the price would actually remain $120 because they had to order "special oil." I was confused since their text clearly stated $89.99 including parts and labor. I also mentioned that I appeared to have been double-charged and tried to show the owner the charge on his phone. He refused to look, checked his computer, and said it showed only one charge and told me to contact my credit card company. Later that day, my son rode his bike and came home after about an hour saying his rear brake wasn't working. He had to slam on his front brake to stop and ended up crashing. He came home with a bruised and scraped knee and a sprained wrist that now requires him to wear a brace for a month. I immediately called the shop and was told to bring the bike back in. The owner said the issue was a "glazed rotor" and that we needed a new rotor. I declined the additional service. What's concerning is that the bike was returned to us with a rear brake that did not function properly. Instead of taking responsibility, the owner accused my son of doing wheelies, which is simply not the case. Overall, this was a very disappointing experience. The pricing was inconsistent, concerns about billing were dismissed, and most importantly, the bike was returned in an unsafe condition. I would strongly recommend others double-check their work before riding

I have low back and hip issues, and was looking for a more comfortable road bike. Paul patiently went above and beyond...he educated me on different brand/model road bikes. He never pressured me to purchase anything. It was evident that it was more important to him that I make an educated decision. I reached out to him a second time, about 1 to 2 months after our initial conversation. He was gracious enough to re-fit me on my current road bike (I had previously been fitted by a different bike shop) and the adjustments he made toallowed me to ride in a more comfortable position. I felt like I was on a completely different bike. The refitting coupled with our initial conversation was all I needed to know I'd definitely purchase my new bike from him. He made the process so painless and made sure all my questions and concerns were answered. Paul, you are incredible at what you do. Your customer service...impeccable! I went with the comfort bike and it was $30 for a daily rate, otherwise it would be $10 per hour, until you reach 3+ hours and it would then get charged for the daily rate. This was the best deal and still very close to the beach where bike rentals can be more expensive. You can either choose to bike to the beach area from here (Redondo, Manhattan, Torrance, Hermosa) or you can use it on a bike rack to get to your destination. My husband has his own bike rack so I just rented the comfort for the day. Conveniently located in Torrance Blvd which leads you to the Redondo Beach area ASAP. Also located by the Del Amo fashion center which is the hot spot mall for all things food and shopping. They have a separate store for bike purchase and you can always ask the staff about renting vs purchasing if you're in the market for a bike. Really easy to book with them in person, and you can also book online to save time. I would definitely recommend this shop to friends and family for day bike rental needs, whether for fun or for a planned beach and bike day! Thank you Juan and Moses for your help!

I haven't had a 'flat tire' in many decades, but it happens when you least expect it. What caused…read moreit is a mystery, because the bike wasn't being ridden, but stationary indoors. When I removed the inner tube, I discovered a puncture. The rubber liner for the rim that cushions the tube from the spokes was not worn out and still intact. I happen to have some of those 'self-adhesive, round, rubber patches' [SKABS + generic brand from TEMU] and gave them both a try. Neither of them worked, but SKABS was the better of the two options. So, this brings me to buying a new inner tube, but from where and how much do they cost these days. I drove to Walmart, but they didn't stock 20" x 3.0. A nearby bike shop that I know apparently went out of business or moved. So, I decided to do an online search for other shops in my area and located two. Torrance Bikes was the closest. I also did online shopping to get an idea of what it might cost. Walmart.com $12.15; Amazon $16.88 (for 2); TEMU (China) $12.63 (included bonus of 2 tire/rim levers for the job); TEMU (Local Warehouse) $6.72 'Lightning Deal' ($3 shipping or Free w/ $30 purchase). I drove to Torrance Bikes and it cost $15.99 for the inner tube. Although the price was more than I hoped for, I bought it because 'time is money' (i.e., convenience is a factor to consider). I didn't want to wait for delivery, nor worry that a 'porch pirate' might steal it. Torrance Bikes appears to be a small, family owned shop. Judging by their crowded inventory, e-Bikes rentals, sales, & repairs seems to be the trend. The young man that helped me was friendly & competent. The replacement inner tube is on my bike and life is good.
