I bought my new Ford Edge at a different dealership, but go here for all my service needs. It's definitely out of the way for me to go out to this particular dealership/service shop as there are several much closer to me. However, they have treated me exceptionally well for the last several months. Let me explain. I bought my car from the Al Piemonte Melrose Park location. They suck. Anyway, my wife insisted I get the oil change package (I hate going to the dealer for oil changes, so I was dreading going to any location for this service. I have a great mechanic who does a great job with oil changes (https://www.autosolutionscenter.com/), so I was bummed that I was stuck with the dealership. Anyway, a few months into ownership, I got a letter about a recall and that I needed to bring my car in to get it fixed. I hate the Melrose Park location, so I put it off. I then got an email from Gillespie On The Go offering to come to my house to fix the recall. Okay, now we're getting somewhere. I asked if they do oil changes and I had the package, so they came out and did both. And in under an hour. I had them come out for another oil change. They said they had to charge me because I have to bring my car in. So I paid, but need to check as the service department told me that's not true, but they wanted to double-check on it. I also had an issue with the CarPlay not connecting in my car. They sat with me for an hour and a half to figure out the issue. We collectively figured it out, but they didn't charge me. They have such an awesome service staff. I will always go to them over other locations depite being nearly a half hour away. read more

Bought a vehicle, where it seemed as if the door just needed to be closed just a bit harder to get the "open door ajar" indicator to stop alerting the driver. Nope after the test drive, and the purchase, no matter how hard you close it, it goes off. Don't go over 60 mph, the constant beeping is aggravating. After the purchase they refused to replace the sensor. If I had to do business with these ppl again I wouldn't. Now the oil light change indicator goes off when you turn the vehicle on. Yet the oil was change. DONT DEAL WITH THESE PPL....NOT WORTH IT!!! read more

Took my Bronco in for an easy gasket repair/replacement. Technician needed 2 full days to trouble shoot after the problem was clear and presentable with arriving. On top of that the communications for updates was horrible. I had to call to ask them for updates about when it will be ready or what the updates are . On the second day I had to call over 5 times to even get someone to pick up the phone and then to get an answer of when it will be ready. At the end of the second day the tecs still couldn't seem to find the problem (easy as can see) and no updates where giving. Will never go here for any trouble shooting/ maintenance in the future fallowing such incompetence and lazy management. read more

I was the first person to walk in right when it opened. I was not greeted and met with such distaste. The Advisor name is Caitlin and she treated me with such rudeness. I got there at 7am and what was supposed to be only a couple hours ended up being 7 hours because she was so unhelpful. I really don't understand how people like her are able stay working in such places. If I didint ask for the manager eventually I probably would have been there all day. I came in today5/16/26 for an oil change on my 2024 ford escape. I have had 2 oil changes prior to this and always got the "the works Package" $69.95 for semi-synthetic oil tire rotation etc. I also had a $10.00 coupon which should have made it $59.95 When I called and scheduled the appointment I verified all of the above mentioned the service advisor looked up my car and he verified the exact information. Had an 8:00am appt. got there early worked with Sean Gerst again, told him it was the $the works package gave him my coupon. When the car was done, he informs my husband & I the total was $83.00 He claims the TECHICIAN said it only takes full synthetic. If that were true, why did your technians on the prior 2 oil changes use semi synthetic oil? I have all the receipts. and why didn't Sean come and speak to us BEFORE anything was done? All he could say was the tech said so. I don't appreciate being ripped off! This was a $16-$17.00 dollar difference. I never had any problems when my go to service advisor Jeff Vollmer was there, which I found out he left. Jeff was my service advisor from another dealership for a long time. We were thrilled when we found out he was working here when I brought in my Hyundai Tucson for an oil change. That's why i bought a car from Gillespie because of the service from him. I want the difference refunded to me if not the whole amount based on the dishonesty alone. This place is a shambles when it comes to service. My mother, who was injured in a car crash three weeks ago and is still in big pain and suffers from PTSD with anything related with cars and driving since, made the effort to go to this place today to get a new smartkey programmed and cut (the lowlife dealer who sold us the car forgot to mention the second key was not included in the sale, oops), the car key code retrieved (the aforementioned lowlife dealer forgot to say the manual with the key code was not included, oops again) and to check to see if the infotaiment update we did through a USB drive over the weekend took. In short, this place: 1) Made this sick woman wait for over two hours instead of less than one as promised, hunched over in pain in their waiting area; 2) Wanted to charge her $400 instead of the $315 we were quoted over the phone for the new smart key - but to their credit they did honor the quote finally even though it was just over the phone; 3) Could not complete the job of cutting the physical key as their cutting machine was broken and out of order; 4) Told her that the car needed several more updates in addition to the one we had performed over the weekend (already doubtful since I followed Ford's own cloud servers' identification of the installed software vs the needed update and their installation instructions, with the installation being deemed a "success" by the car's own infotainment screen; what's more, they intimated that the updates could take 4-5 hours to complete AT A COST OF $198/HR FOR LABOR for a total estimate of about $800-$1,000 FOR A SOFTWARE UPDATE that is neither crucial nor required. As a result, the aforementioned sick and unwell woman was 1) made to travel for miles in pain only to have one service half-performed (the key wasn't cut even though the fob was programmed) and trying to upsell a 75-year-old retiree on a $800-$1,000 software update. My take? GO ELSEWHERE AND BEWARE. NOTE: The only reason this review is two stars and not just one is that the dealership did honor the phone quote even though they stressed her out initially by giving her a higher cost in person and then wasting time internally until they decided to honor the phone quote. Bought a ford edge there. Worst service ever, bought an oil change package with my new edge, fought with each and every oil change as to how many remained. One time I took it in and they didn't snap engine cover back on correct and it made a strange noise. When I called the service manager said just snap it back on. I said I tried but need a tool for it. He said bring it back, I did. He tried and couldn't either. He had to get a mechanic to snap it backdown. Then they broke one of the snaps doing it. I ordered a Ford Maverick in the fall of 2021. Without my order, it wouldn't have the truck. The salesman couldn't tell me the price, but I was clear from the start that I wouldn't order it if it were above MSRP. Shortly after I ordered it, I spoke with Chris on the phone who wouldn't commit to a price, but he did state the price wouldn't be above MSRP. That exchange didn't fill me with confidence. Now, nine months later, I'm told I can buy the vehicle for $34k, plus taxes, title, and doc fees. When I asked "MSRP?" I was told that was MSRP. Except MSRP was only $24k. I believe they then tried to trick me into saying I didn't want the vehicle so they could tell Ford I wasn't interested. I was and am interested. I would never recommend Gillespie Ford based on their apparent dishonest business practices. If you're interested in Ford vehicles, I would strongly suggest you do your research and find a more transparent dealership. read more

Came back on today because i believe great customer service-- even on an individual efforts should be recognized. And Kristi in service has been just that. Attentive with multiple calls today. Kudos. I gave an extra star because of her extra effort today. She also asked the questions, that if acted upon will make for a better customer service experience. I appreciate that response. So even if you don't see them comment on Yelp. They do act. Her empathy was appreciated. I don't understand how this dealership is still looking in business. Having said this-- when i bought my truck there it was a pretty straight forward experience. I had a truck they wanted used (Platinum) they had a truck i wanted new. Process was normal. And then came the service department. I have never had my truck there for less than three days. For a tire. For a recall. For a check engine light-- that came with a diagnostic read from Auto Zone-- who did it for free and in the moment. Now you might say-- well that happens. Then what is the purpose of making an appointment. This is not just during the post covid supply chain issues. I don't understand how you can have a vehicle dropped off at 730am and no one even looks at it... all day. 12 hours. If thats the case- don't accept appointments. Just say we are full. Additionally, when you promise a phone call iodate, it should not be the responsibility of the client to call you at 4pm, expecting to hear their truck is ready when it hasn't been seen yet. If it weren't under warranty i wouldn't bring my truck there. I have had significantly better service and follow ip from both Highland Park and Antioch ford. Locally, I'll stay at McClures because they have never not met a deadline. Most people can not afford to be without their car for 2-5 days for minor repairs. If thats the case, at a minimum a fleet vehicle Should be offered as a courtesy car. read more

Do not buy a car here. They use horrible and unethical sales techniques. Blatantly lying to get you into the door and then using the good ole' bait and switch. I'm not going to name any of the sales or customer service reps that I talked to because I strongly believe they are trained to use these tactics by their managers and whoever "Big Dog" is. I went on their website and saw six new 2020 Ford Fusion SE's priced between 15,000 and 16,000. I called the dealership to make sure I'd be able to get that price by using cash and not their financing. I spoke to someone in customer service who then directed the call to a sales rep. The sales rep told me that I do not need to use their financing to reach the listed price. I asked why the prices were so low and they stated that Ford is no longer making the Fusion's and they wanted to get the last new ones off their lot. They advised me to come in as soon as possible as the cars wouldn't be there long. I let them know that I live over an hour away and would be there around 6 pm the next day. As I arrived to the dealership, I began looking at the Ford Fusion's in the lot and saw that they were all hybrids. I was then approached by a sales rep. I told her that I had an appointment with another sales rep. She told me that the person I thought I was meeting was in customer service and couldn't help me. I then asked to see the new Ford Fusion SE's that were listed on their site. She let me know that they were all gone except for one. She brought me over to the dirtiest car I had ever seen on a sales lot. It looked like it hadn't been washed in months. We then asked about the price and she explained that the only way I could get the listed price was if I used their financing, was an active member of the military, a first responder, and a recent college graduate. I can't imagine there's many people that qualify for all three of those. I of course was immediately annoyed since I had just driven approximately an hour and twenty minutes because of a lie. I then asked about the other five new Fusion SE's that were listed and she said they were recently sold and just hasn't been updated on their website. Strange because I had just confirmed they were there before I drove to the dealership... As I was talking to the sales rep I decided to go on their website to test a theory I had. I went to the active listing of the Ford Fusion I was interested in. The one that was "recently sold at some time," and clicked on the confirm availability button. After filing out my information, I received a call from an employee. I was still in their lot as I received the call. I asked about the vehicle that I knew for a fact wasn't on the lot. They told me that it was still there but there but there was a 7pm appointment for someone to test drive it. She recommended I schedule an appointment for the next morning to see it...Textbook bait and switch. Dealerships like this are the reason that car sales people have such a bad reputation. Two months ago, I ordered a new 2021 Mustang GT Convertible from this dealership, working with a sales representative named Frank. About four weeks after ordering the car, I pinged Frank for an update and he said he had heard nothing. Prior to the Memorial Day holiday, I pinged him again - no response. So today, I came in unannounced to see what was going on. Frank does not work for them anymore. And the car was never ordered. So now, instead of being ahead of the semiconductor shortage, I am now behind it. Their literally first day on the job representative Nick took care of me as best as possible and allegedly, supposedly, I am now in line again for the car. I'm really unhappy about this. I have worked very hard to build a career and build a financial situation where buying this car actually makes sense. Both myself and my wife have been looking forward to this since the beginning of April. And if I hadn't done what I usually do professionally - verify verify verify - I would have been waiting until hell froze ever and had zero contact nor a new car. With that said, I am a person who gives people an opportunity to fix an error. This one qualifies for the Trojan Ends "Boner of the Week" award. I really hope management reads this, understands just how royally this was borked, and makes every effort to ensure that my experience in buying my first new car of my life is one I want to repeat with them and one that I want to refer business to in the future. Right now, the one-star is justified. I will revise this review as additional information is made available. At this point, all I can say is that you need to be careful with this business right now. Once it arrived the dealership refused to sell it to me unless I paid for add one that I never agreed to. They then told Ford I cancelled the sale to sell it at a markup to someone else. When it finally came in, they had my bronco on the show room floor, as if it wasn't my order. Then they worked up an out the door price of $60k and told me they were going to sell it to someone else if I didn't buy it. After going to another dealer, they looked my order up and saw the name on my order was intentionally left blank. Allowing them to sell my bronco out from under me as if it was their own. My son and I drove over 2 hours from Wisconsin to buy a used Ram 1500 on their lot. He was told that the truck had new tires on the rear, only 10K miles on the front. Dealership told him there were no visual defects in the body. After getting there we immediately took it for a test drive. The tires rubbed on the inner wheel well when backing it in and out of the parking spots. Tires were extremely noisy!! Got back and looked at the tires, absolutely no way they were new or even had close to 10K on them. The front were darn near junk. There was a large dent right in the drivers door, along with scratches all over the vehicle. The top lip of the tailgate looked like someone took a file to it!! On top of this, the windshield was broke. We were offered $500 off, then $1,000 off, we decided to walk away and drive back to Wisconsin. They were nice enough to refund the down payment that my son put on the truck. But overall, biggest misrepresentation of a vehicle that I have every seen!!!! read more

My wife and I stopped in after the 2024 Auto Show to see the new Escape. Our appointment was with Ryan. While Ryan brought the car around , we had a conversation with Dave ( salesperson) very nice, very knowledgeable and willing to chat even through we weren't his customers. Went for the test drive, car was nice, and a quality product, however my wife and I didn't feel this car fit what we were looking for. We never felt any pressure to spot buy, Ryan was a professional through and through. Before leaving , we like to view the waiting rooms, incase of service, we like to know what the layout is. Thinking of where we're at with gas prices and electric vehicles, I've really been looking forward for the mustang mach E, its truly a phenomenal vehicle Orders have been delayed and they tell us to check the dealerships. This dealership had the exact model I was looking for in-stock. I looked at it on there website and it was listed at MSRP, the same price as my delayed order. I contacted this dealership and they told me that they're selling it $15,000 over MSRP. I contacted ford directly who told me they should NOT be selling over MSRP. I called back and spoke to a manager, I think his name was Jeff who told me "MSRP means nothing, and I can sell a car for whatever price I want" I clarified to him so you think up charging given all the production problems is ok and he said "Yes". I love the mustang Mach e and with the help of ford directly I will one day end up loving one. The problem is this dealership who does not value customer service during these tougher times. BUYER BEWARE!! Has continued to be one of the worst dealers to deal with on problems since vehicle purchase. Here's a breakdown of all the issues as I would steer clear from this dealer. Vehicle Purchased a used 2019 vehicle from them in October 2023 that was blue certified. Was told vehicle went through 164 point inspection. In test drive, which they only let you take on local roads, stopped and put vehicle in 4WD and the vehicle shuttered and warming lights came on. Ended up having a bad battery and sensor. Had to fight to get all repairs covered even though would have been caught in inspection. Got it home and had to rebalance all the tires due to improper balancing and found out second key fob doesn't work correctly so have to replace. Certification also said came with all manuals and would get 11,000 Ford points. Points were to be placed in account within 30 days. After 30 called stating didn't get them and was told by Nate the sales manager, it takes 60 days. Called after 60 and Nate said would take care of it. Now at 90 days and even though I call them on a regular basis (live out of state and can't drive the hour to stop in) Nate will not return calls. Tried to talk to the main manager and just get sent to voicemail and do not get calls back. Sales Experience Their model was really crazy. While I had an appointment to see the vehicle, when people would come in, the sales staff would literally run out the door and smother the car before they got out. Saw one car not even get out and just drove away. Caesar, who was our sales rep, started out pretty good with answering questions. When we worked on a deal we added to a price as long as all repairs were completed. Had the old school back and forth and agreed on a price. Since was pre approved with check in hand, waited over two hours until financing wanted to do paperwork. Caesar never stopped buy and basically did not see him again. Once in finance office, asked if the repairs were being completed and he didn't know anything about it. Caesar then came around and said the agreed price didn't include repairs. We countered as both my wife and I were clear that we would buy only if repairs were completed. Had to wait another 30+ mins until I said we are walking from the deal. Then was told they would do the repairs. Ended up leaving the vehicle there and had to come back down later in the week to pick it up. When picked it up, Caesar was completely different as he was not engaging like when we first got there. Guess they don't care about customer experience after you agree to purchasing. Conclusion Still fighting for my points and while they boast of being 'the Big Dog' dealer, I think of the last 6 dealerships I have purchased vehicles from, they are the worst in their sales, support, and communication model especially in this day and age. read more

If I could give zero stars, I would. I had a special order vehicle that I waited for for over a year. I wasn't told there would be a dealership markup. The night before I am set to take ownership they informed me that management was applying a 10,000 markup to any of that make/model of that vehicle type that they received. The deal was "take it or leave it". Gillespie wouldn't have any vehicles to sell if it wasn't for the people that placed special orders and waited patiently to receive them. I do not agree with these business practices. They put their profits ahead of their customers and took advantage of the early order customers. We are X-Plan members and was looking to upgrade from a 2012 Edge to a new Edge. We researched and worked with several dealers within Lake and McHenry County prior to checking out a few dealers in person. We walked into Gillespie and ended up staying. The sales man (Carter) wasn't pushy, showed and test drove several different vehicles with the options we were looking for. The finance manager (Chris) showed us different options with amortization tables including current deals vs. X-Plan. Again wasn't pushy and didn't go to market until we made a financial decision. Therefore they didn't over run our credit which causes credit scores to be lowered. We chose to buy outside of the X-Plan and would recommend our team at Gillespie Ford. read more

The worst dealer ever! I would give out zero star! I had a car accident recently and my car was totaled. I was looking for used car and found a used car (2007 Honda Pilot) from Gillespie Ford. The sales person who sold us that car told us the car has clean report and no mechanical problems. We also questioned why the car has engine light on, and he told us it's just the indicator isn't right, the mechanic team just finished the checkup on the car and no issues. So we made the purchase. In 3 weeks, we received a letter from DMV requesting emission test. The emissions test failed. So we took it to the body shop, and the repair estimate is $1845 in order to pass the emissions test. On top of it, the body shop told us the car's engine has problems and requesting $200 for engine checkup fee. We don't want to spend extra money on such an old car, but without passing emission test, we can't get the license plate and registration thus can't use the car.
