This is our 2nd time going to this Vietnamese restaurant in Whitestone. It was so good we took my sister and her friend after the movies. Love love their decorations. It's simple, charming and 1000% coziness. Great for an romantic date! Service was great, friendly, the dishes were big and very generous. Definitely bang for your buck. 1st time we came if for lunch. - hot Aloe Honey Tea not overly sweet just the way we like it. - hot Ginger Honey tea. If you love ginger this is good. - large beef combo pho with bone marrow. Love love the broth. - Grilled beef wrapped in bettel leaf. Grilled Wagyu beef in bettel leaf, comes with rice sheet and pineapple fish sauce dressing. This is a perfect snack or great for sharing. - Pork Belly sandwich. to go, huge cuts of pork Belly in the sandwich 2nd time for dinner - Passionfruit Honey tea - Ginger honey tea - Pitaya lychee refresher - Sweet & Spicy Wings taste like a spicy version of sweet chili sauce - Green Thai Curry with shrimp and rice on the side - Braised pork Belly vietnamese style slowly braised pork Belly in slightly sweet caramelized stew serves with rice. Very generous portions; my sister has 6 huge cuts of the pork Belly - Large five spice Beef pho - Large spicy coconut and lemongrass pho with bone marrow. This is definitely worth getting. Not overly spicy lots of coconut water in the broth super flavorful. Everything was delicious and the portions size were good. Definitely coming back again. Downside about is street parking Not really great with disabilities Great for large parties

All my previous sentiments are still true. I love this place! When I want a nice comforting bowl of deliciousness and warmth, I come here. On my last visit with a group of friends, I ordered the MANGO KAFFIR LIME MULE which is Kaffir lime leave soju, mango puree and ginger beer. It is to die for. The perfect amount of sweetness and tang from the mango and the ginger. Service as usual was amazing. Even with our larger party they were attentive, sat us quickly, and brought everything out in a timely manner. We sat to the left which always gives me private room vibes and we had the table by the windows so the sunshine coming through while we chatted and enjoyed our food gave the perfect vibe on a chilly winter day.

Reliable soups and sandwiches with well sized portions. The flavors are pronounced and rich without being overly salty. We love the spicy coconut lemongrass soup, which is the right amount of spice offset by the coconut milk. The iced coffee is also strong yet sweet due to the condensed milk. They've renovated and upgraded the interior over time so it stays looking bright and fresh. The service is friendly but can be slow if it's busy.

The food is phenomenal i got spicy lemongrass soup and red curry. i got large size it was only $2 more and totally filling the tap water they provide is awesome i haven't seen that in a restaurant before and very good ingredients fresh and delicious the ambiance is nice i really like the decoration and lighting and its not too cramped either. not to mention how polite and helpful the staff are they kept refilling water and checking in on us its nice environment 10/10 top tier will come back again

The food here is absolutely delicious. I get take out here often but I don't think it beats the experience of eating in here. The service was great, I asked her to pack my bone marrow for me and right away she asked if it's for my doggie which it was and I thought that was sweet how she knew. The ambiance is nice, I like how quiet and spacious it was. I would def come back !!!

Ginger & Lemongrass may be a run of the mill southeast asian eatery to you, but to me, it's the unsung hero of Beechhurst, Queens for my reservation-weary self, fleeing the trenches of the Manhattan and Brooklyn restaurant scene for one night. My group of 15 hungry souls, fresh from the dubious pleasures of a local spa (don't ask which one) stumbled into this Vietnamese restaurant with just 15 minutes notice. In Manhattan, this scenario would lead to a comedy of errors, perhaps ending with everyone eating bodega sandwiches on the curb. But in Queens, this can be your Saturday night! Ginger & Lemongrass doesn't so much welcome you as it does shrug and say "yeah we got space." It's the kind of place that reminds you that dining out doesn't have to be a competitive sport, that sometimes you can just eat. I guess this is what living in the suburbs is like? To address the pho in the room-- this isn't the sort of place that would make a Vietnamese person weep with joy. My Viet friend says the menu defines authenticity loosely. But we were cold, tired, and hungry, and the wings and noodles were great. I definitely recommend getting the curry soup with shrimp or chicken. Prices were reasonable, and I really appreciated how unbothered the staff was by our large group. We even had a semi-private room to ourselves. Ginger & Lemongrass isn't going to be the subject of breathless food reviews but for the prices and breadth of options on their menu, I was totally charmed.

The PRO; The restaurant ambience is very good and comfy and the food is not bad too. The CON; This restaurant's management need to either train their wait staffs on customer service or hire more experienced wait staff. Their menu is not even that complicated to begin with (just 1 page of food and 1 page of cocktails and beverages). When the waitress was taking our order, we wanted to order the "Vermicelli" on the menu but waitress told us that was a "salad"!....This isn't our 1st time having Vietnamese cuisine so we're aware of what "Vermicelli" is like. How can a server not know their restaurant's menu well? Then upon finishing our meal, there was a piece of "Chicken and Shrimp Fried Spring Roll" left from our appetizer plate. The appetizer was pretty good and we decided to place another order of the same dish for take out. We told the same server that we would like to place another order of this Chicken and Shrimp Fried Spring Roll (pointing to the exact one on our plate) for takeout and she nodded. Then another server came to ask if we would like to pack up that remaining Chicken and Shrimp Fried Spring Roll on our table? So we told this server that we already place another order for this exact same appetizer so he can pack them all together. He said "Good"!.....and when we got home and opened the takeout package, we find some odd Looking Fried Spring Roll in the bag (which isn't the same as the one that we had at the restaurant) ‍‍

Delicious. Not your typical viet pho place but food was still yummy. Walking in, it gave me more of a modern Vietnamese restaurant vibe. I usually order the Coconut Spicy Lemongrass Soup with chicken and boi oh boi is it delicious. It's the perfect amount of coconut and spice. I always end up having leftovers and it is even more delicious the next day. My family usually like the beef pho and it tastes pretty authentic. The fried spring rolls are delicious and we usually get the shrimp and chicken. We tried a beef cube dish expecting it to be like other Vietnamese restaurants but it wasn't what we expected. The beef came out more mushy and the flavor wasn't different from what we expected. Overall the pho is delicious and lunch specials are pretty worth it. Staff are all friendly and have great recommendations whenever we ask what they recommend!

Coconut spicy soup with beef topped with hoisin sauce
    Natasha F.

I ordered the coconut spicy soup with beef through Uber eats for lunch! The broth was on point and I appreciate the hoisin sauce and sriracha chili sauce packets it came with. Tiny cups of chili sauce were also included as well - much appreciated - everything was well packed and included a bag of top of toppings which included bean sprouts, lime slices and fresh green chili pepper slices. The small was a generous portion with enough noodles to fill you up. Wish the beef was a little less tough but it was edible.

So I my last review I said I wouldn't come back... but I was in the area and I totally forgot what my experience was like. Luckily it seems like things have changed. The spring rolls are wrapped in a rice paper (maybe?) wrap. We got the pork and mushroom filling this time. So much better than the shrimp we got last time. The Pho broth is very savory. The brisket is well executed. The round eye could use a bit more seasoning. I love that you can add bone marrow to your pho. Seating is plentiful. Service is prompt and friendly. Overall a nice meal.

5 Spice Beef Brisket Sandwich ($13) - delicious!

What an awesome spot - very unassuming on a random block. The decor is pretty and fun. Our waiter was really nice and accommodating. The cocktail menu has a lot of enticing options! My friend's lychee rose was strong and unique. I had the coco pandan; I've never had pandan before, and the drink was very refreshing. My beef brisket banh mi was excellent. Very tender meat, and the distribution of additional ingredients was on point. The side of chili oil was a nice touch. My friends' tofu buns and shrimp vermicelli were good, too. Rolls were a little greasy but had a good flavor and texture inside. Short but sweet menu. I can't wait to come back!

Do not recommend especially if you have allergy or dietary restrictions. Asked for no cilantro - on the phone and double checked again when I picked it up at the restaurant. "Yeah they didn't put cilantro." It sure did. Good thing I don't have allergy. If you have allergy you should really be careful. We asked twice to make sure, but servers don't even care what you get. You may be eating pork without knowing even after you tell them no pork.

You get an appetizer and entree, and the price depends on your protein. I got the spring roll appetizer and red curry entree with vegetables and tofu for $17. I really liked the spring rolls, but the red curry was a bit too spicy for me and didn't come with as much tofu as I would have expected. The portion size was great though! What stole the show were two things. The lychee juice as well as the Zahn Wings appetizer. The juice was soooo good and came with two lychee, and the lime seasoning for the wings was incredible. I would come back and order these two things again for sure! The restaurant itself is very nice, modern and clean with plenty of seating indoors and outdoors. The Restaurant Week menu wasn't particularly exciting, so we both ordered from the regular menu. I had the steamed sea bass with white rice, while my friend had the duck with white rice. Both were good. We also tried the appetizer platter. I really enjoyed the chive rice cakes, the crispy texture added another layer. The crab rolls were fine, but the Cho Muang's texture was a bit off to me. The drinks were also really good. I tried the lychee floral spritz and loved it! Unfortunately, the service is what kept this from being a five-star experience. My food came out first, but my friend's didn't arrive until about 15-20 minutes later. We also saw our server when she took our order and never saw her again. We wanted another drink but didn't have anyone to ask, so we had to rely on the hostess. I enjoyed the food and drinks, but good customer service is just as important to me. I wouldn't say I wouldn't return because I'd be willing to give it another shot, but I'd hope the service would be better next time.

It's a small place with around six tables and three staff members (two in the kitchen and one taking orders, serving, bussing, and cleaning). Not the most glamorous vision of a restaurant, right? But the food is tasty! We had the summer rolls, peppered calamari, the signature pho, and the beef short-rib pho. The summer rolls and calamari were good, you could taste the freshness of the veggies and shrimp. I wish the calamari had been a bit crispier and seasoned with a touch more salt and pepper, but it was still very good. The real reason I'll be coming back is the pho broth. Some people might describe it as slightly sweet, but to me, it had a rich, balanced flavor. I'm not sure if the short rib is available all the time (it does have a lot of fat, as beef short rib often does), but it was flavorful. Definitely coming back to try more.

I said I didn't have cash, and without missing a beat she grunted, "Credit over $30 only!" No "welcome," no "how are you," just straight into survival mode. My colleague ordered first. When it was my turn, I committed the unforgivable crime of asking, "Is there meat in this dish?" Apparently that's considered a high-maintenance request. She rolled her eyes, muttered something in Cantonese, and walked away. The customer behind me, who was picking up her order, quietly told me the employee had just said she "doesn't have time to serve people who don't know what they want." My apologies for not memorizing the menu before my first visit. Five minutes later, another woman came over and took my incredibly difficult order... noodles. Then I entered what felt like the DMV of noodle shops. About 15 minutes later my colleague got her food. Another 15 minutes passed. A family of three walked in after us, sat down, and started getting their meals while I was still waiting for my noodles. At this point I was emotionally invested in seeing how long this social experiment would last. When we asked where my food was, the original woman simply said, "SOON!." Apparently "soon" means 72 minutes here. I placed my order at 1:08 p.m. and didn't get my food until 2:20 p.m. I'm convinced my ticket took a gap year before making its way to the kitchen. If they forgot my order, that's annoying but understandable. What isn't understandable is pretending everything is fine, offering zero explanation, zero apology, and acting like waiting over an hour for noodles is perfectly normal. The biggest plot twist? The food wasn't even worth it. Bland, lacking flavor, and somehow managed to make a 72-minute wait feel even more disappointing. The service had more attitude than seasoning. Save yourself the time and eat literally anywhere else.

Malay Restaurant - Hainanese Rice. Wouldn't recommend. Doesn't have enough flavor to justify the surcharge
