I was looking for a nice restaurant in Tacoma for my husband birthday and stumbled upon Gino's at the point. I made a reservation & definitely recommend doing this as they don't have a ton of tables in the restaurant. I think having few tables made the vibe much more intimate which is perfect for a special celebration! I ordered a glass of Riesling and my husband ordered a glass of red blend. One downside is they don't have every wine available to be sold by the glass, so it cuts down on your options. However I understand the reasoning behind it! The riesling was delicious and so was the red blend. We started with the clam and mussel appetizer and it was delicious. My husband ordered the surf & turf and I got the ribeye. Everything was spectacular and cooked to perfection! I highly recommend trying this place out, we'll definitely be back! Went there for Mothers Day 2025, did see that they had a special Mothers Day menu link on their website but menu did not contain prices. I assumed they would offer regular menu items which they did not. I guess I should have called and inquired. Regular menu had entree's priced $25.00 to $40.00 however special Mothers Day menu only had a handful of entrees starting at $40.00, most were over $50.00 to $72.00 with a steak at $95.00. Got the bolognese pasta, and had the pumpkin martini. The pasta was very gamey tasting and drink was so bitter. This is my second time coming here and the first time my drink was not great and pasta not good. Knowing Mother's Day would be busy no matter where I went, I decided to surprise my love to a nice dinner the night before. Last minute decision, I called and thankfully they had a table available at 8. Been here many times before and we always receive the best service. Friendly smiles, beautiful view of the Puget Sound and delicious food. Ordered the Scallops and I was a little disappointed when I was receiving weird looks from licking the plate. Made reservations on a Saturday evening. The restaurant is in a fantastic location, right on the water. We were sat upstairs and had a great view. The complimentary bread was delicious- the balsamic and olive oil I could do without, recommend adding roast garlic as an option. I ordered the scallops and I wish I would have tried a different entree. The crunchy kale leaves can be left out, they only add some color to the dish. We made reservations for 5:45pm on a Friday and had no problem being seated right away when we arrived. Our server quickly brought waters and gave us a few minutes to look over the menus. She returned a few minutes later and kindly took our drink and appetizer orders. I ordered the lychee martini and the oysters to start. The oysters were the best I've ever had and the martini was ok. We both thoroughly enjoyed our entrees, I had the Pescatora and my friend had the Scallops. The ambiance was nice and quiet without being too quiet. Ate there on Jan 2, our third night as Dash Point residents, to check out the local spot. Party of 4 and we all liked the appetizers and food we ordered. More than liked actually - it was really fresh and tasty. Had a mix of seafood and pastas and expect to be going back regularly. The restaurant itself is close and homey and very comfortable. Dinner was lovely, we had coconut shrimp to start and it was delicious with the sauce! I had the twin tenderloins (two filet mignon) with potatoes and roasted Brussels sprouts. Everything was cooked perfectly. I finished the meal with Crème Brûlée - the serving size was larger than most places and the flavor of orange was light and refreshing. This place was great! Friendly service, took a last minute reservation, the drinks were strong and yummy, the view was nice. The Bri app was incredible, the two steak dinner was literally melt in your mouth fall apart as you chew it, the pasta was yummy but nothing to make it stand out, Lobster tasted good & not a bad price $40 for an add on. Right next to the water so the aesthetics were on point. Only down fall was the servers never took our empty plates or drinks off the table, so everything kind of piled up next to us not leaving a clean and clear space, might be just me but thought it was kind of weird. read more

Food was great service fantastic. Ambience was good. I had the risotto, great flavor 9 outta 10. My shmootzie had the ribeye taters and Brussels. Ooont a wedge salad with blue cheese. She said it was the best blue cheese dressing ever. She said the steak was cooked to perfection. Arrived at about 430pm and asked for a table for 3, girl up front smiled and pulled out the menus and asked us to follow her. When we got to the table she turned and said, and I qoute, "We will need this table in an hour." Her tone was flat and off-putting. I personally thought, what a rude thing to say, but it was my son's birthday so we stayed. Upon opening the menu it was not the high prices that shocked me, but the dirty food stained menus. I'm sure this is a health code flag. If the employees didn't turn tou off of the place the dirty menues would.Then the whole time we were there, there was an annoying slaming sound. I was told it was a kitchen door or something.Upon ordering I had asked for ice tea, and sugar. Another girl brought me the tea, when I inquired about the sugar she made a face and told me my tea was unsweetened and then when I asked for sugar she made a noise and left. When she returned she had brought me only 2 packets. When I had asked for more she again made a noise and left returning with a handful and dropping it down on the table. The sugar packets were dirty and some of them leaking sugar all over the table. Food arrived and it was simply amazing. The flavors were well paired and delicious.Had to wait 10 minutes to flag down a girl for refills. I'm not sure if they are just understaffed but it defiantly needs attention.We ordered dessert, we ordered the espresso ice-cream, it also was delicious. Was it worth the 9 or 10 dollars for the little cup? No.All in all. The food was the only good thing. Will I return? Probably not. You honestly cannot beat the location for waterside dining. Small, but well decorated restaurant with a bit of classical jazz and standards playing in the speakers. Great food, staff and a well thought out wine list. The only downside is it is small, so definitely make reservations for the weekend and probably some week nights. My wife and I celebrated our 31st anniversary at Gino's at the Point and it was our first time eating there. We have been to several other upscale restaurants in the greater Tacoma area but never made it to Gino's for no particular reason. Well, I am sorry we haven't been there sooner because it was fabulous. I had the yellow fin Tuna, a wedge salad and the key lime pie and everything was excellent. My wife had the fish and chips. The fish was light, crunchy and not greasy and the fries were some of the best I have ever had and I worked at Frisko Freeze back in the early 90's. First time trying out this Italian restaurant. It's a really small dining spot located next to the sound. I can imagine it being very lovely during the day, however we had reservations later in the evening. I especially liked the brie and crostinis which included jam, candied walnuts and craisins. The oysters were so-so according to my husband, though he enjoyed his meal. I ordered an Italian soda which didn't taste that sweet, seemed more packed with half/half and whip cream. I liked the lobster bisque, and found that the scallops seemed a tad over cooked. Dessert was the butter cake, took it to-go and they packed ice cream, although both were just ok. It tasted like Dryer's ice cream, nothing fancy. The service was fine and waitress seemed respectful. Thought it was odd that the bartender was loud talking about her personal life with her patrons given that this is such a small establishment. Even more concerning was I accidentally forgot to grab the credit card after we paid and we drove off but no one notified us. Luckily, I remembered it and had called before they closed their doors and were able to retrieve it. Another unfortunate thing is that the hours aren't that great for dining... open until 8pm during the week. For the price point and the experience we had I feel like it could have been a lot better. Feel the need to add a new review. I don't remember how long it has been since we dined here, but many months for sure. New wait staff since the last time and these young women are hustling! Serving, bartending, cleaning tables. We are so used to being rushed when dining, that it can feel odd to be allowed to finish each course at leisure. We were given time, but not ignored. Hubby had the rib eye, which was perfectly prepared and I had the hazelnut crusted halibut as the special, which was fabulous and so large there was no way to eat it all. My only recommendation is to offer cracked black pepper on the oil and balsamic poured for the bread appetizer and not wait for the diner to make the request. read more

Food: sucked. the lobster bisque was devoid of... lobster. legit not one singular piece of it in the entirety of the soup. on top of the lack of lobster, the soup itself tasted straight out of a can. the baked brie was incredibly meh. bland and not nearly enough crostinis with which to eat it all. they did have fresh warm bread with an olive oil and balsamic vinegar sauce to dip it in. I give them kudos for that. every legit Italian restaurant should have this served without having to be asked for it. Service: incredibly subpar. I made a reservation for 4p (prob didn't need to do that, but, just in case...). I got there a few mins before 4. They didn't unlock their front door until a few mins after 4. I was their only patron in the entire joint and when I asked if we (was waiting on my bf to show up at the time) could sit at the table in the back corner overlooking the Sound, the hostess said "okay, but you'll have to finish by 6 since it's reserved for then." honestly, didn't find that comment necessary at all. but okie dokie. chose to ignore it, said no problem, and got seated. by the end of our meal (shortly after 5p), we were STILL the only patrons in the entire restaurant. Ambience: although the view of the Sound is indeed lovely, the actual restaurant is devoid of character but for the fact they play Sinatra at a one too high decibel level. Excellent in all aspects. Stopped in for unplanned lunch. The whole experience was wonderful. Appetizer: Baked Brie. Made with nuts, cranberries, raspberries, balsamic glaze(?), and some type of jelly. Served with toasted bread. It was amazing and served the three of us along with the bread and oil for the table. Halibut was light and flaky with that butter halibut flavor. Served on greens and potatoes with a chili glaze. My wife had the cheese and pear ravioli with bleu cheese crumbles. It was a surprising and very pleasing combo. For drinks, we had a few because Loki g at the reviews ahead of time the pictures were very appetizing and the execution was on point. The blood orange sorbet thing with rosemary; the Atardare (?); Blackberry Bliss; and Strawberry something. All were simply great. Alcohol content was appropriate; with a full meal and appetizers I felt a little warm and tingly. Everything was well planned and executed. Great job! If anything, it can get a bit loud being a smaller place but it's at the same time, cozy. read more

Tl:dr- Gino's food is an expensive waste of good ingredients because they slather them in poorly executed sauces. It's like they have a recipe but not a real chef and instead rely only on prep cooks. Nothing we ordered from appetizer to dessert was good or executed well. I am not native to Washington and it seems a lot of eateries here have the same issues. Maybe the food here is just bad to me. Native Washingtonians might love what I see as a waste of good ingredients and my money. The folks who recommended this place to me were also 60+ years of age so maybe the good things were skewed because folks didn't want to drive. I came here on a weds night to meet a friend and heard this was such a great restaurant. The restaurant wasn't terribly busy, but the service was so slow. We waited at the front desk despite arriving at our reservation time. Bread took a very long time as did every disappointing course. With each course I'd tell my friend that maybe the restaurant would get it right, but the cocktail was the only thing I didn't feel had such a foul taste it needed to be washed away by something else. My usually eager eater friend didn't finish or want to take his food and instead ate a bagged salad at my house later... Like many restaurants here, everything was covered in greasy salty slop. I ordered the fillet mignon and they totally ruined what should be a good cut of meat by drowning it in what tasted like canned brown gravy. It wasn't cooked great either with the outside overdone. The only good bites were from the center that had been untouched by slop or flame. My friend ordered the seafood pasta and it was resting in a bath of oil with no noticeable spices and a few slivers of tomato. Half of the mussels remained closed so he wanted to avoid eating those. Crème brûlée was like a student made it. No flavor to the crème (was supposed to be orange and I think walnut) and the top was not a delicate crack but a thick and gooey consistency that stuck to the ramekin. The candied walnut noted on the menu was a couple canned nuts sprinkled on the plate.. Lastly, they said their oysters are their specialty.. they are terrible.. just don't. It's a total waste of an oyster to cover it in a pad of butter, bacon and then cook it all. The nasty sauce flavor permeated my mouth even though I dumped as much as I could of it before eating. :( Do not recommend. Washington can do better. read more

My family and I dined here last year on Valentine's Day and didn't necessarily think the food quality was worth the pricing and also we didn't enjoy being restricted to the specific menu. We wanted to try a second time dining here. This time around I specifically made this reservation NOT on Valentine's Day to try the regular menu. When I called to make the reservation i specifically asked if they were going to be serving their regular menu and not the Valentine's Day specific menu. I was told by the team member that the restaurant was going to be serving their regular menu with picks from the Valentine's Day menu. A week goes by and the time finally arrives. My family and I drove an hour, an HOUR, to get there because we've been wanting to try out the regular items only to be told that they were serving the Valentine's Day specific menu. We were told after we sat down that they decided to change what menu they were going to serve without us knowing. So we got up and left and drove another hour back home irritated and on an empty stomach. If you're expecting something specific from this place, make sure to call before you head there. read more

Price: im thinking the average price per item is at least 18 dollars. Be prepared to spend a butt TON. Even their drinks are somewhere near that price. Really not worth it overall. We didn't even get alcohol and it cost 6 ppl over 500 bucks. Service: good enough. I heard the busser and waiter openly complain about how busy it was but I personally don't care about that. Still, made me wonder if they have a break room? Also we asked for the heat lamp to be turned on (outside seating) and the guy was a lil snotty about it, it was weird. Brie & jam appy: they served an entire round of brie with only 6 toast. Ummmm has the chef not tried this dish with the staff? What are they saving by not giving more toast? it was good though. Wicked shrimp: 4 measly shrimp and 3 toast points drowned in some really good marinara. It was supposed to be spicy, it was not. Maybe for my gramma. Idk maybe a lot of white ppl eat here. It wasn't spicy. And 4 shrimp? Wtf. But it was the bomb the sauce is what did it. Omg! So yummy! We tried smoked salmon fettuccine, the rib steak, pear ravioli, pasta Diavlo and the seafood fettuccine. It was all good. It was all expensive. Food did not equal the price point, AT ALL. But it was good. I mean 27 to 45 a plate? Woah We got all their desserts minus the cannoli. All were very good. Except the creme Brule it was NOT good. The custard was not made properly. All in all I will not be back because I can get the same good quality food for cheaper elsewhere. And the food wasnt unique enough to justify a return trip. Perfectly nestled south of Seattle in the east passage of Puget Sound at Dash Point. Totally off the grid in a residential community. It's quant and intimate-perfect for me! There is a public park right across the street so you can maybe catch some wildlife in the water if you get here before dark. The menu is a mix of seafood and steaks and fair priced. I had the kusshi oysters (sorry I eat them before photoing them) and scallops. The oysters were a trio of small, sweet, and briny goodies cooked with garlic butter and a chipotle aioli...delicious! The scallops were perfectly seared served on top of a Dungeness crab stuffed ravioli with a creamy artichoke leek sauce and topped with a crispy sautéed spinach. I found the sauce to be kind of boring with not much flavor. But the presentation, sear on the scallops, and crispy spinach made up for that. I had been wanting to go here since Valentine's Day, finally fulfilled my goal on Mother's Day. What a disappointment...firstly, there was a "Special Menu" for the holiday, which was not mentioned anywhere when I made the reservation. Looking at their website after the fact, I see it shown, but nowhere does it say it's the ONLY menu they are serving. That's right, the menu I'd been drooling over for 3 months was not offered. What's more, it was a very limited and up charged menu. For example, the scallop dish that's on the regular menu was offered, but instead of a portion of 4 scallops for $42, it was 3 scallops for $52. Happy Mother's Day to me My boyfriend ordered the $76 prime rib, asked for rare and received brown meat. Well done prime rib at $76 a plate?! Although there are only 14 tables in the downstairs area (I counted while I waited 20 minutes to get my check) the wait staff were frazzled and took a very long time to offer service. Which didn't really matter to them, because there was a mandatory 20% gratuity added. I don't mind tipping, almost always leave at least 20%, but I do think having the automatic gratuity leads to poor service. The only redeeming quality was that the scallop dish was absolutely delicious! Scallops cooked perfectly, ravioli al dente and delicious sauce. Maybe I'll try to go back on a less busy occasion and try the full menu... but at $240 for dinner for 2 adults and a kid, I may need to save up a bit first. read more
