We had some friends recommend, and take us to this place. Their description of how cool this was did not even come close to describing it. It's small, but incredibly well-made out. The decoration is definitely more on the upscale side. There were four of us, and we all ordered something different. We could not help but share dishes, because we all felt like ours was the best one on the table, we were all wrong. They were all fantastic! I saw the sign for Ginos as we were driving one day so I looked it up on Yelp. We needed one more nice restaurant to go to before I headed back east and this looked like a promising place. I made reservations and when we arrived we were greeted and sat right away. The view of The Sound at night was the perfect setting for a romantic dinner. I couldn't decide if I wanted the ribeye or the lamb. They both sounded great. Since the lamb shank is not a common menu item I went with that. And I'm so glad I did. It was perfectly cooked and fell apart with my fork. Savory and it was way too large to eat in one sitting. The dessert was a hit also. We shared the Godiva cheesecake. So, we were excited to eat at Geno's at the point. Reserved a table on a sat night. Sooo excited. Menu looked amazing. When we walked in the door, we waited for about ten minutes to be seated. And then it was all bad. Bread without oil and vinegar, no water refills my entire time there, plates and bread bowls at our table that were piling up and not picked up till the end. So, 0 on the service. It was nearly nonexistant. The food. We ordered the tuna and guacamole, baked oysters and a mussel clam mix. The tuna dish was awful, it was basically a kind of squished up avocado with Maybe a dusting of tuna. The oysters were the smallest I've ever seen in my life, 6 of them for 24 dollars! And between the four of us we had around 1 mussel and clam each and they were gone. I'm sorry, but we didn't stick around for dinner. The whole experience was awful. Tried unsuccessfully to find an email link to Gino's to talk to a manager, but doesn't seem to exist. Anyway, never going there again, extremely poor experience. read more

A lovely venue and a lovely view, but the food is best described as adequate. Six smallish oysters were $22 and just didn't live up to the cost. We are blessed with fleshy, meaty oysters in WA, which are not showcased well here at nearly $4 each. The Caesar salad, too, was not worth the Cadillac price tag of $14. The lower layer of greens wilted under a heavy-handed slather of an otherwise tasty dressing. For that price, it might be a good idea to step up the croutons from the boxed/bagged variety. The Bolognese was tasty, but perhaps not as memorable as the view. There aren't very many choices for glass pours of wine, and those that are offered are pricy. We love to tip well and appreciate the suggested percentages to make our decision easier. Please don't base them on the post-tax amount though. We tip on served food and drink, not tax. read more

This place was a ways out but definitely worth the drive. My mom took me here for my birthday dinner last week. I had ordered the tenderloin steak for my main course, my mom ordered a pasta dish and for an appetizer we got the coconut prawns. Everything was full of flavor, my steak was perfect no complaints. The prawns were phenomenal. It has a nice view of the water too, so definitely a nice place for a date night for all you non-single foodies out there lol. I'm definitely coming back here. We had three different waitresses and always waited to get next course or had to flag someone down. Never came back to check on us. The dessert l had to go up to bar and ask for it. The good: beautiful area, polite staff. The calamari was delicious with amazing sauce and spicy almost Cajun flavor I really enjoyed. The okay: attentiveness of staff, the drinks, the salads, and the desserts. They were all just okay. We came for our 12 year anniversary after a day at the spa. I've been to the maple valley location and was excited to try this one since it's closer to where we live. The salad wasn't bad, but very little dressing or Parmesan and was just okay in flavor. I had two blackberry bliss drinks and they were yummy but did taste a little watered down. I put that it was our anniversary on our reservation and no one said anything about it, or even lit the candle table that was on our table ‍. It took a really long time to get our order taken and we didn't get any bread until well after our order was taken, even though it was basically empty when we arrived. The bad: parking is difficult and stressful as I didn't see any designated Gino's parking, or any info on their website, and you can't call and ask questions because they only "call you back," if you first leave a voicemail. I had read in other reviews the chicken was dry and food tasted microwaved. For my chicken Alfredo this was definitely the case. My husband enjoyed his Bolognese fine. I've already had the chicken Parmesan Alfredo at the maple valley location and it's really delicious, but this locations was not great it wasn't creamy I didn't even want to dip my bread in it. It was so hot I burnt my tongue when it first came out which definitely made me suspect microwaving. The chicken was so dry I picked it all out and didn't finish my meal. Since it was our anniversary I really wanted to leave on a good note and also cleanse my pallet from the Alfredo meal so we ordered the cannoli and affogato. I've had the affogato at Fondi in Gig Harbor and it's amazing, but here it was just okay. The cannoli however, is rich, flavorful and delicious. All in all for $172+ meal the experience was just okay and I won't be back. If you're planning a visit just skip the entree and do apps, drinks, and deserts and I think you will be happier. read more

My fiancé and I came to Gino's after it was recommended by the host of our AirBNB nearby. Celebrating our recent engagement, we wanted to sit down for a wonderful meal with a view and Gino's did not disappoint! The service was OUTSTANDING. From the hostess to our waiter, everyone went out of their way to make us feel special. We started with a bottle of sparkling rose & then went right to ordering our meals. I had one of the specials: A marinated ribeye served atop a bed of yuka fries with a pesto like sauce. It was cooked perfectly and was incredibly flavorful. My fiancé had one of the many salads on their menu: Spinach with watermelon, goat cheese & bay shrimp. It was all extremely fresh and filling. We ended the night with salted caramel gelato. Wonderful high end find near Brown's Point in Tacoma. Stunning views of the sound from the second floor dining area. Lots of vegetarian options including the pear ravioli which was quite possibly the best pasta dish I've had in Washington. We'll be back just for that dish alone. Appetizers are good for sharing, we recommend the bruschetta and baked Brie. Nice wine selection from Washington and California. A hidden gem! read more

Update 11/6/2022 I received a voicemail the following day from someone who described themselves as the "general manager". Now during this message while they did apologize for the poor experience that we had, and did offer to have us come back at no charge and enjoy a meal. What rubbed me the wrong way, was laughing and giggling in the voicemail. That was highly unprofessional, that this individual wasn't taking the situation seriously and I very much will not take them up on that offer. At this time, my review will stay up, and I will continue to let individuals know not to dine with your restaurant, I'm also requesting a full refund for my meal. If the owner himself would like to call and speak with me I would be OK with that, but it doesn't change what is happened, my review of the restaurant or what the outcome of the situation should be. The main point here, is that I was celebrating something extremely special with my wife. That part of the evening, the meal, and the experience in your restaurant, ruined that day for me regardless of all the other great things we did as it was the nightcap to our night. Probably the best lobster bisque I've ever had even after spending many years in New England (as if there's some sort of monopoly on lobstah in New England, but hey they have some great bisque up there for comparison). Calamari was excellent, pasta was excellent. Butter cake was nearly perfect. We will return many times. Very good food and lovely location. Servers wore masks. Delicious! Lovely atmosphere. I loved this place when it was the Lobster Shop. We went for a birthday dinner and sat upstairs. It was great! The fresh bread is yummy and warm. Between all of us we had the fish and chips (so good - amazing fries!), we had the wicked prawns appetizer, scallop entree, and surf & turf. Honestly it was all delicious. The service was great, our waitress was wonderful. I would go here for any special occasion or just because I needed a bomb nice dinner. What a hidden Gem. Our server Sylvia was helpful in assisting us in choices and knew the menu well. I'd like to start with the crab chowder. Its amazing. Real crab and corn. Not heavy but flavorful. It was so great we decided to try a cup of the roasted pepper soup too. Glad we did. Its was delicious as well. We ordered the seafood valencia and the bolognaise. Both were good. I'm not an expert when it comes to Italian food but we were told the style is a mixture of Peruvian and Italian. Cant wait to come back and try their other dishes. Oh and hats off to the bartender. One of, if not the best, bloody mary Ive had in a long while. And Ive had a lot especially the past few months. I think she used fresh horse radish. Our service was so amazingly friendly and attentive she made my drink perfectly, which I'll be the first to admit I'm kinda particular when it comes to my drinks. Our meal was delicious I had the fish and chips and my husband had the seabass. I had a bite of the purple rice that they pair it with and it was sooo good. My fish and chips was cooked perfectly! Went to this restaurant because we were looking for a higher end dining experience. The menu looked great with most items prepared differently than the usual fare you would expect from other restaurants. To say we were disappointed was an understatement. The food was SALTY. The pescatore was sent back because my husband could not eat. It was salty and swimming in grease. Entrees ranged from $26 for basic pasta to $75 for surf and turf, so upper end pricing. We asked for additional bread and were told it would be an additional $4. What? Definitely would not recommend this restaurant. They chef falls short when delivering tasteful, unique dishes. And to top it off, one of the neighbors screamed at us as we were leaving, telling us we had no business parking on the street. I am sadly disappointed with the experience overall. read more

Beautiful view and patio location on a warm summer evening! Service was distracted, at least for the few of us on the patio, but eventually-friendly and helpful. Our porcini salchetti pasta was average---too salty. House strawberry and feta salad was tasty, but nothing very special for a place with such potential. Cocktail was average and over-priced for what you receive. (I have no problem paying $18-20 for a good cocktail, but this was just very weak and pedestrian). Family-run and kind of charming, but they need more help to serve on a busy evening. If you sit outside, be ready for a rowdy public parking lot, cars driving close by, limited parking for the restaurant, etc. Used to be so good when it was the Old Lobster Shop--just needs to step up the culinary and service games. read more

I made a last minute reservation for a friend's Christmas Eve dinner and I'm so glad I found this place. This is definitely a hidden gem in the area. The restaurant was beautifully decorated and gave a warm intimate feel to it. We were greeted immediately as we arrived and seated at lovely corner table, perfect for our party of four. They had an amazing specialty menus for the holiday. We were ordered drinks which included chocolate and blackberry martinis. Even the table bread with the oil and balsamic vinegar dipping sauce hit the spot. My partner and ordered the Caesar salad and prime rib special. The salad was very tasty and was a perfect pair to the main course. The prime rib was delicious and cooked perfectly and it was accompanied by very yummy garlic mashed potatoes and Brussels sprouts. TL;DR This would be 2.5 stars were that an option. First time visitor Friday the 15th. We were ignored most of our meal, incredibly slow service, poor quality cocktails, and inconsistent food quality. We arrived on a Friday night with reservations for two and were coldly greeted, but immediately seated. It took nearly 20 minutes for our server to swing by for the intro and drink order. By that point we had enough time to look at the menu and put in our full order. Nearly 40 minutes in, the busser comes by and asks if we received complimentary bread. I said no because we didn't even know that was part of the experience. Another nearly 30 minutes goes by before the drinks arrive. The meal order arrives well over an hour after we get there. While that's happening a group of five who came in behind us gets their drinks, appetizers, and meal order well ahead of us. Our server never checked on us once during the visit. I had to get the attention both a different server and the busser to assist in a second drink order and boxes throughout the visit. As best as I can tell, our server was preoccupied attending to what I assume were the owners and their friends out on the patio. We felt ignored the majority of the hour and a half we were there. While the patio was full, the inside was almost entirely empty so I'm not sure if this can be chalked up to being too busy. As for the food and venue... we were absolutely blasted by the air conditioner on the wall which became very unpleasant quickly. Our cocktails were haphazardly thrown together and bland. The baked brie, lobster bisque, pear salad, and pear ravioli were great, but my fish and chips were soggy, rubbery, and overcooked. The really poor service and partially disappointing meal is a huge shame because the views from the restaurant out into the Sound are gorgeous and the live musicians out front were lovely people. This is a place I WANT to visit, but likely won't come back. read more

We had a great experience here the other night. We had a friend in from out of town who wanted to see the water (she's from Vegas). There were 6 of us and they led us to a private room upstairs with a beautiful view of the water. Everyone raved about their food, my husband always gets the Wicked Shrimp appetizer and the Diavlo Pasta when go to Ginos. I had the Porcini Sacchetti and it was so so good. I had dinner reservations for 8 o'clock I get there at 7:50 and I am told that they tried to call me which if they did they never left a message. Like I said did you leave a message and the guy was like oh no am I cool then you never tried to call me. Then they told me that oh yeah the kitchen is closed we sent the chefs home however you can order a drink at the bar still open. Really I didn't go there for drinks I went there for dinner.
