We arrived at 9:40 from the airport luggage's in hand and were waiting about 10 minutes to be seated but there was no one at the host stand. My boyfriend kindly went up to the bartender to ask where the host was and they said the kitchen was closed. If you look at their hours online, open hours are from 11:00 AM to 11:00 PM. We are talking about an 1 and 20 minutes. When we showed them the hours they said they are working winter hours. It is summer, not even fall yet. I highly recommend they update their business hours. I would consider myself a bit of a regular of this Gino's - they have the best happy hour in the area (I barely want to even mention it because I'm scared everyone will find out and it'll get hard to get a seat!) I stopped here for the "pizza lunch special" for $8. When I got there, I found out that this only applies to the deep dish. If you want a deep dish, come here! Considering I have an intolerance to dairy, I ordered the thin crust. This costed $20, which is crazy considering how small and light it is compared to the deep dish. It was served on what looked like a giant soft saltine. Not sure if this is acceptable to Chicagoans, but this was very unappealing to my NY tongue. I have never seen such slow service for a half full restaurant. There just seemed to be no urgency in getting people seated, orders taken, or getting food out. We waited at 2 pm on a Monday for around 40 minutes to just be seated. The pizzas came out around 45 minutes after being ordered. Also if you are going to claim a pizza to be "burger and fries" pizza. Don't toss on tomato sauce. Add on some sesame seeds and some "special sauce" like a Big Mac would have. It was the farthest taste from a burger. I would not recommend. Try another local pizzeria. read more

Meh. We came to Chicago for a soccer game and to eat some good food. Had heard on several Foodie pages and Yelp that this was one of the places to go. Cool restaurant and staff was good. We had mozzarella sticks and they were like a seven out of 10 and then ordered a deep dish cheese pizza. I am not kidding you the pizza tasted exactly like a frozen pizza you would get at the store. I ordered a dirty martini shaken with extra olives, but when I looked up, I saw the bartender pushing the olives onto a straw with his bare hands. I immediately refused the drink because I was uncomfortable with someone touching something I would consume. How can you go wrong with Gino's? In town for a conference there's no way I come to Chicago and not have a deep dish. A few hours before my flight stopped in for lunch to have a "mini-pie" which is served until 3pm. The mini-pie is a personal pizza that is just enough for one person and be complete. The special comes with a salad and a fountain drink. Genious idea Gino's East! For those of you who are overachievers go ahead an indulge in a regular pie. They were severely understaffed the day after the holiday and we felt horrible. But we waited and we were so glad that we did. Just had a Saturday night dinner here. Ordered the Diavola with a salad and mozzarella sticks. The food was pretty good, but the service was some of the worst I've had in Chicago. The waitress we had was extremely rude and spoke to us in a very condescending way from the beginning of the interaction. She didn't serve us water till we were almost done with our food and slammed the plates on our table when she brought them. It made the entire experience extremely unpleasant for us and we wanted to leave within 10 minutes of getting there. Teach your staff to be respectful.
