Do not recommend. Met friends who were visiting Chicago for dinner last week. I would like to give zero stars for the service- it was awful and actually embarrassing. I cannot remember the last time I was at a Chicago restaurant with such bad service. It was a Sunday night, the restaurant only had a few patrons and the server was no where to be found. We received our pizzas with no plates or silverware, napkins, Parmesan cheese. We had to ask for literally everything and it took a while for us to find our server- she was in the back of the restaurant and not tending to tables. Getting refills on drinks was too painful to even deal with. The pizza unfortunately did not make up for our bad experience- it was ok but not what I would have expected from Ginos East. I will not be back to this location, there are far too many better pizza restaurants nearby. read more

Lunch is a great value. Unfortunately, we missed lunch prices by 5 minutes. Ordered a 9" Cheese and Pep Deep dish - IT TAKES 45 MINUTES. Thankfully, I read some reviews of this place and we allowed for the extra time needed, but oh so worth it. Had an order of sweet potato fries to start, and beers. By the time our pizza came out, we were bugging and it surely did not disappoint. Perfect size for two people. Piled with the best mozzarella cheese I have ever tasted. The crust was perfect. Different but really good. On the drier side but not tough and doesn't tear up your mouth. Can't wait to go again. I want to try a cheese and charcuterie board next. read more

I want to give a HUGE shoutout to the manager/seating host who pulled me aside to let me know someone shady might be casing our purses. This was seriously so appreciated and kind! Pizza is always fantastic. I recommend the patty sausage with mushroom. As far as other Gino's locations, this is more of a sports pub atmosphere. Great for watching games. It always is pretty busy on Friday and Saturday nights (30-90 minute wait), but is quick searing the rest of the time, and worth it when wait is long. Half price tap wines on Sunday night are just a bonus to the locals. read more

I am not someone who posts to Yelp but I felt violated, used and taken advantage of so I had to let people know what I experienced. I ordered a medium deep dish pizza with extra cheese, extra sausage, regular mushrooms, spinach and easy sauce for pick-up on Friday April 5th. This was the worst pizza I ever had and I live in Chicago. First, there was barely any cheese or sausage even though I ordered extra of both toppings and the pizza was tasteless, sloppy and not even warm. Second, let's talk about how it was not even a deep dish pizza!!! A deep dish pizza should not be a thin crust pizza with sauce used to give the appearance of a deep dish pizza. Third, the crust, which used to be a good cornbread crust was flavorless and hard. I used to love Gino's East but I will never, ever again waste $47 with this business again. I have no pictures because I threw the pizza out so don't waste your money here. read more

My co-workers took me out here when I was in town, and I loved the graffiti ambience to this location. This place gets really packed. Appetizers were started with first, and I tried the friend spinich and the mozzeralla stick, and they were both really good. If you order pizza, you must get the Chicago deep dish. This pizza tasted amazing, and the crust was seasoned with something. It was the pepperoni deep dish. The service was on par, I was amazed that the waitress could handle 30+ people at one time. Again, if you're a tourist and in town and want to eat pizza, this place is one of your option. You won't regret it! read more

I finally got a chance to try Gino's East. It was alright. I still stand by Lou Malnati's as my favorite Chicago-style deep dish pizza chain. The pizza is standard Chicago-style. It's great, but nothing too special that would distinguish it from other similar places. There's not as many preset toppings, but you're able pay for more. It's not a bad option once you've exhausted the original ones. It also seems to me that the pizzas take a bit longer to make than either Lou Malnati's and Giordano's. Thus, I recommend getting an appetizer or two to hold you over. read more

I came here three times so it was the most frequently visited deep dish joint during my stay in Chicago. 2 star, the pizza, it was definitely my favorite of all the deep dish placed I tried, it has a great sauce, delicious crust, really soft/melted mozzarella, it was delicious 1 star for the service, the staff was very friendly, they were fairly quick for being as packed as they were 1 star for for the atmosphere, it was a lively atmosphere, comfortable, good amount of seating room Pro tip, I sort of ran into the windowed entry way because I'm probably blind... just a heads up to not text and walk at the same time into a windowed door.. that's all. This was the first place we ate in Chicago this past weekend. We randomly stopped by off the street. It was an odd time, so there was no wait, and it wasn't too busy. Good atmosphere and good food. For a mostly empty restaurant, the service was not that great. We got a 9" deep dish Diavola and garlic breadsticks. Both were great! I was really happy with how many breadsticks the appetizer came with; they were a pretty good size, too. The ranch that came with it was SO freaking good. Overall, it was pretty good but not super memorable; you could probably find better for the same prices. read more

Got the 9" OMG with chicken and bacon; soooo good. Nice and hot; perfect size for just me. Felt like there was the right amount of sauce and cheese on the pie, as well as the toppings themselves. A great last meal (and first deep dish pizza) to wrap up a weekend in Chicago. First of all, Rita was AWESOME. My mom and I had just been to Eataly and it sucked. The wait staff were terrible there. The hostesses looked up from their conversation at us when we needed to be seated and then continued their conversation..as if we were interrupting them. It was like that Bon qui qui SNL skit except there were 2 Bon qui quis. We seated ourselves. Rita actually had a personality, and a friendly one. She knew her beers and recommended a great one for my mom. She came to our table just the right amount of times to clear plates, refill waters, check on us, etc. She even complimented my eyeshadow so she gets extra brownie points for that. Rita needs to have a managerial position, because she clearly knows how to treat guests and work quickly and efficiently. The deep dish cheese and pancetta salad were delicious by the way. read more

I went to this Gino's East for the first time with a couple of friends. We had a very pleasant time as the customer service and food were great. We ordered the Insalate Antipasti and it was enough for the three of us to split, serving as a sufficient appetizer. When trying to decide what toppings should go on our deep dish pizza, we noticed that one of their toppings was a sausage patty. Our wonderful and accommodating server, Rita, described it as a "slab of meat." We decided not to let this deter us and ordered a deep dish with half sausage crumble/half slab (and green peppers). The pizza came and it was pretty tasty. The sausage patty was intriguing; it tasted just like the crumble, but the texture was what made it different. I wouldn't get it again, but not because it tasted bad, just because I'm more of a crumble type of guy haha. The service was great, the beer was great, and the food was great. While in town for the marathon, my friends and I wanted a place to carboload so deep dish was an obvious choice. We originally tried to go to Lou Malnati's but the wait was long and we happened on this Gino's location, which was spacious, clean, and comfortable. We didn't have to wait for a table but we did have to wait 45 minutes for the pizza. We didn't mind since we ordered beer and some brussels sprouts in the meantime. We decided on the 14" Spinach Margherita (Fresh mozzarella, spinach, tomatoes, basil, garlic) and added sausage for some meat. Our hungry minds did not think that a 14" deep dish pizza would be way too much for 3 people but it still made for great leftovers. The sausage had great fennel flavor and paired well with the rest of the flavors. The crust was really interesting and unexpected. It did taste like a biscuit or a really buttery flakey pie crust. The texture was solid enough to keep its integrity with the massive toppings, even with transporting leftovers and reheating the day after. Full disclosure, all three of us were very gassy each time after we ate a slice. I'm not sure what it was. Maybe the cheese. Maybe the crust. It was worth it but maybe not a first date place. read more

Also got the spinach mozzarella speciality deep dish pizza, which included basil, tomatoes and garlic. It was fine. My friend loved the crust but I didn't like it, reminded me of crunchy cornbread. I love cornbread but not as a pizza crust. There was hardly any spinach on it either. I found out I don't like deep dish pizza, so this review is based on personal preference. We got the meaty legend and here's what I thought: *The tomato sauce didn't have very much flavor *The sausage chunks were a little big for my taste. I prefer them smaller and spread out more. *The end piece crust was pretty dry with not much flavor. If you're looking for a first time experience with deep dish, I recommend Lou Malnattis. Clearly a step below the top tier of Chicago pizza joints. The deep dish crust can be a tad doughy/borderline soggy and lacks the flavor relative to a Malnati's or a Pizanos. The thin is actually better than it looks - great cheese to sauce ratio that tilts just a smidge to the cheesy side that compensates for a boring crust. The deep dish isn't as thick as a Peoquods or a Giordano's so the bites aren't quite as comforting of a mouth feel when you feel like slamming thick za and being a fatty. Above average sausage - always a wildcard at pizza joints, but can be overwhelming on a deep dish as it essentially becomes one giant hamburger patty - it's tasty, just don't say I didn't warn you, anti-mucho-meat enthusiasts will be turned off. Overall it's a slightly below average Chicago style pizza spot. read more

We are from Vegas visiting Chicago. We wanted to try a real and authentic deep dish pizza. We were hoping to find a mom and pop shop that makes a one of a kind, everything from scratch pie. We found Ginos on the internet and after checking photos it seemed to be what I envision a Chicago pie to look like. We went in, ordered our pizza and waited for it to be made. We ordered the spinach dip, the waiter made spinach sticks instead. Upon realizing hos mistake he brought both. I'm not sure I loved the sticks but just not my taste. When the pie came it was incredible. The crust was different than I have had, more buttery and flaky than the breadlike pizza I am used to. The sauce was slightly spicy but very flavorful. The sausage was just the right size (I could have had more of this and the veggies) but not a game breaker. The waiter was extremely friendly, super attentive and beyond helpful. We are very glad we came, and hopefully will be back some day. Honestly I could have gone again the next day but the wife wanted to try other food options. It is always nice to go somewhere in a different state and feel so welcome. Although Ginos is not a ma and pa operation it sure did feel that way. read more
