GREAT PIZZA. Super thick and came out hot! I really loved the atmosphere here, very old Italian

We had friends coming in from Georgia who had heard of Chicago deep dish pizza, and really wanted to try it. I made a reservation 2-3 days ahead of time. Then even called day of to confirm. They literally said; "Oh, sure, come in any time'. We came in at the allotted hour and there were people waiting outside and in the foyer. I went up to the host desk and talked to a young man and told him about our reservation. He looked at me and said: I'll be right back. When he returned he just said flatly: " I don't have a table for you". (keep in mind there were MANY open tables, even with Covid. I saw about two tables actually seated.) I asked, "isn't there anything you can do?" He just looked at me. I was stunned - no apology, no "I'll find you an open table ASAP" or "We just had three servers call in sick and we're way backed up..." no apologetic behaviors at all. Just: I don't have a table for you... I think I asked him how long the wait would be and he said: "I have no idea. " Or maybe even : "We have a long wait now..." Anyway the whole experience was bizarre--it was like he just stared at me and literally wanted us to leave. It was unhelpful, embarrassing, weirdly rejecting and frankly quite maddening. I've never been treated like that before at a restaurant. My friend later told me: "I had to walk away or I would have unleashed on him." They even had our phone number and could have called us to save us the trip out to E. St. Charles...We would have understood that gesture and appreciated it as well. That kid is in the wrong job...and I will NOT go back to a Giordano's again if I can at all help it. The St. Charles restaurant is not going to last if that's how they treat people. read more

Meh,,, went out on a record setting cold night in Jan, only because the closest Lou Malnati's only had take out, no dine in. This is really a decent Chi style pie, IF you don't judge it up against a Lou's. Nice enough place, nice staff, no wait for a table when it for real temp 20-dog-nuts cold outside! I really wish that they would have had a decent beer to offer, but alas, another "Bud light is our top shelf beer" establishment. It literally brings a tear to my eye that a pizza place, of all places, can't offer up a good beer to pair with their pies. If it's not cold enough to freeze you rolling tires to the road, drive yourself to a Lou Malnati's, you won't regret going a few extra miles. read more

THANK YOU FOR OPENING BACK UP AND WEATHERING THE STORM!! Same great staff greeted us tonight and I even overheard one of the staff talking about the cleaning system that was recently installed. Food was amazing, staff always treats us politely and respectfully and is very attentive. I can't think of any steps that could possible be taken, all precautions were followed while we sat and enjoyed our meal. Wear a mask on the way to the table and if going to the restroom or leaving but while seated there is enough of a distance between tables to feel safe! THANKS GIO!!!!! read more

We were in town and decided to try this place for pizza. They menu does tell you that if you order the deep dish it takes 30-45 minutes to make. That's fine but it took ours about a hour. The pizza was just as expected it was good. We got really bored waiting as we stopped in kinda late around 8:30. We did not finish eating till after 10:30. Our service was ok, order was not correct but it wasn't a big deal. The place was not that busy and we had to order drinks twice and they never came. All in all the pizza was decent but don't expect to get in and out. read more

First food was great. I don't usually have complaints about their food. Ordered take out for a predetermined time. 45 mins late and there was not a single effort to reach out to me to let me know. The lack of concern when speaking to the manager was appalling. He made it sound like my phone call was a huge burden to him. He barely offered an apology and refused to acknowledge the issue. Loved the food, but the service leaves room for improvement. The salad dressing wasn't sealed properly and spilled all over my car. They did not provide enough silverware for the size group we had. And only 1 out of 12 employees I saw had a mask on, which is currently required by state law. read more

Excellent Deep Dish Pizza. Very nice environment with helpful staff. I loved the dinner salad and excellent addition to any meal you order as its a steal for $1.95. Love their pizza, they're a Chicago treasure.. but was just in the St Charles Giordano's to pickup, and watched as one of the kitchen employees had both his bare hands and arms in a big bin mixing the salads..just digging and mixing away. No plastic gloves or mixing tools, just his bare arms and hands. I stood there for several seconds after they handed me our order, and just watched this guy.. Looked like a kid in a sandbox, just rubbing his arms all over that salad. Got home and we tossed out the salads we bought. We'll just stick to the pizza there going forward. I've been here countless times when I lived in the area, and now that I live in St. Louis, I miss it SO MUCH! I've had all kinds of pizza, and there is no pizza like deep dish Chicago-style pizza, and there is no deep dish like Giordano's! I'm sort of a picky eater so I usually just get sausage and peppers in mine but yum yum so tasty!! Takes a while to cook (45 minutes I think??) but SO worth it! My mom prefers thin crust pizza, so I've had this several times and it's very good as well! The last time I went here with my family, they were out of BOTH appetizers that we wanted to order (mozz sticks and cheesy bread). It was fairly early on in the evening, so that was a little disappointing but otherwise, service has always been great here! read more

I kept asking for water and they used same water cup and straw for my drink. And not getting when I walk in when I said hello how are you to manger he just look me and didn't say no word. Plus my pizza was doughy in middle and manger was only talking to one table awhile there 4 tables of family there and aka the manger talking one table I though it was rude. Just he couldn't ask how are food was or ask how everything was. I was very disappointment how this place went downhill. Pizza was gross. Service suck. Manger was completely rude. I love their pizza but the last two experiences with them have been poor due to service. Last time I picked up two pizzas and they gave me someone else's pizzas. I called once I noticed and got "uh ok, I'll tell the manager." Tonight we tried delivery and it looked like it was carried upright. All toppings had slid to one end of the pizza. The service is very slow here and the pizzas weren't that great. We were one of two tables seated in the afternoon and it felt like an eternity to get the waitstaff's attention. At one point, I dropped everything and was on a mission to get the waitress' attention. Basically staring in her direction, body positioned towards her. My sister and I came for lunch only one other party was inside eating their pizza. We ordered a large stuffed pizza (30.00)which took about 25min I thought the pizza was good but not amazing . The server was nice but the service lacked the one time she checked on us she did by shouting across the room I didn't get a water refill tell we asked for the check which took a long time to ask for since there was no one around except the gentleman who kept peeking through the kitchen door window every so often . Now the server did spend a lot of time answering questions and talking to the other table who were from Tampa and didn't like that everyone is Miami spoke Spanish because this is America so yeah uncomfortable conversations to listen to also . I would get the pizza to go and don't take leftovers the pizza doesn't reheat well read more

On my 17th birthday my bf took me for pizza at Giordano's in Chicago. I was immediately impressed by the freshness and flavors of the pizza we enjoyed. Over the decades I've moved cross country, but never forgot how delightful the food was. Last night, in my 55th year of life, I was able to order Giordano's delivery. The freshness of the flavors immediately struck me, as it had the first time, so long ago. I'm embarrassed to say that I wasted too much time giving mediocre pizzas chance after chance to improve, when I could've been enjoying Giordano's freshness, and immaculate flavor. Never again. We went to this location to celebrate my daughters birthday. She was the first one to order but for whatever reason her food came out last. We spoke with our server and the manager, both offered no good reasons as to why it was taking so long. Both were slightly apologetic, but still doesn't change the fact that our daughters birthday dinner was essentially ruined because of a lack of timing on their kitchen. The public restrooms had no paper towels and no soap. Women's restroom was propped open by a garbage can that had no liner. We have been to this Giordanos before but this is by far the worst experience we have had. Will not be dining in or ordering take out from this location any longer. read more

One of my favorite places to eat. Ambiance is relaxing. Food is consistently good and service was great tonight. Service can vary slightly depending on the server but all in all they do a good job. We like the"special" pizza and house salad. The Cubs game was on and my brother-in-law liked that. It is always a friendly relaxing atmosphere. read more

I have been a Giordano's customer for many, many years. Their deep dish spinach is beyond compare. I ordered it Friday, and ordered delivery. I left a generous tip and prepaid. This is when the amusing part begins. My phone rings after the longer than expected wait and I was getting curious about, "where's my pie?" When I answer I hear a male voice say, "this place is a f*****in nightmare". I said, "who is this?" and was told my pizza was being delivered outside my garage door. I had left the front door porch light on but I figured, well OK. I went into the garage and opened the overhead door. There stood a guy holding my pizza. It was prepaid, his tip included and I asked what his problem is with Prairie Winds complex. I would understand a normal response such as "I got lost" or "got stuck by a train" or whatever. However, this boy was out and out belligerent. I realize he's a pizza delivery boy and I don't expect too many social graces but, "c'mon man". I called the manager, who said his name is Pete and he is the manager. He said this guy worked for him for years. The pizza was good, as it always is from Giordano's. I guess maybe the boy was having a bad day. No mask, swearing at a customer he has never seen before and a pretty pathetic excuse for an employee of an otherwise highly regarded pizza restaurant. Pete might do well to send a different delivery person to any deliveries he needs to have made to the Prairie Winds Apartments in Saint Charles. It really isn't a "fucking nightmare". When I was a kid my grandmother use to hide things in the pizza and that's how I felt when I received mine at this place. My first question was, where is my double pepperoni? The answer - under the cheese. Then I was given a more cheesy reason for why they did that - to prevent the pepperoni from burning! Years and years of pizza baking and I guess I never thought about that - solving a problem like that. Oh wait - I never had that problem! So - just like I didn't like my grandmother hiding things in her pizza - I didn't like it here either. The difference was my grandmother was baking real authentic pizza - she was from Sicily. Moving on to the parking - plenty - though the lot is shared with other business - there is plenty of free parking at this location. The selection was great - lots and lots of choices, but when the menu says to allow 45 minutes for their specialty pizza - I picked the 20 minute one, which took 30 minutes anyhow and that 45 minutes is really more like 35 so I should have just gone with the best pizza they claim to make and if you've never tried it - I would try it instead of what you think might be a quicker pizza! As for service - I think it was pretty good - I watched them serve a table of 13 and two tables of 7 without much delay at all and I was treated just as good as the larger tables. Price was decent, pizza was pipping hot and yet the flavor just wasn't there on my pizza. This might be good in this area, but I've had much better in Western New York. Chances are - I will return here because it's close to my hotel, but given a choice - I think I'd rather try other places during my next trip out here. However, by no means am I saying that this place isn't good - it's AOK and I'm not saying to avoid it - it was a clean decent place! I was going to detail out the decor and more, but it's just your typical pizza place trying to look Italian - I just wish that places like this would do an update and make it a brighter place - eating pizza in dark surroundings isn't festive at all - and Italians are all about being festive and chatting away! read more

We met up with Dan and Heidi (hi kids!!) for a Friday night out of 'za and friendship (03/07/08). We're anxious for the new Giordano's to open up in North Aurora soon, but in the meantime, since MK was jonesing some stuffed pie we made the trek up to SanCarlos and enjoyed a Large stuff Cheese and Sausage. Giordano's is consistent. Pizza is their business and they are a Chicago institution so we've never had a problem there. We did have an appetizer order of mozzarella sticks and unfortunately I thought they tasted "institutional" (now being used negatively) and that's a shame. With all of that mozzarella in the back, I guess I hoped that they were cutting the cheese (har har) by hand and then deep-frying it fresh. Unfortunately they didn't. But listen, this is a fantastic meal by any measure. Now, in the great pizza debates of history, this is NOT my favorite stuffed 'za (that would be Gino's East), but frankly there is NO bad pizza in life (except Chuck E. Cheese's). I had a leftover slice the next morning cold and it held up nicely as well. Good times, good drinks and good za. read more

One of my top ten WORST service experiences at a restaurant ever. We had an advanced reservation for a large party, and were told that the restaurant would be ready for us, no problem. It took us two and a half hours for our meal. They mixed up our orders, never brought stuff, brought the wrong stuff. Our kids were miserable having to wait so long. Never once did they apologize, and they had the audacity to insist on a 20% service tip included in the bill. And the restaurant, outside of our party, had only a few other groups, so they could hardly blame it on being busy. We totally understand that it takes them a while to bake the pizzas, but it took over two hours for some of us to get our orders. They seemed totally confused and disorganized, almost as if they had grabbed random people off the street and asked them to work the restaurant for the evening. The pizza was good, but hardly memorable, and definitely not worth putting up with the incompetent service. Avoid. read more

Not sure what all the hype is about. There are plenty of better pizza places in the Tri-Cities area...let alone Chicago. Bland sauce and crust make for a boring pie. I would give the pizza about 2.5 stars, however, it was the managers refusal to accept a valid coupon we received from Welcome Wagon that is the reason for a single star. The coupon was for 50% off a Large Deep Dish or Extra Large Thin Crust - a great deal to be sure - but they said they never issued the coupon (complete BS) and instead gave us $3 off which might have paid for the gas we used driving from Batavia. Nice trick to get us into the restaurant, but we won't be back...ever. read more

The famous stuffed pizza is always very good, but nothing else on the menu is really that exciting. It takes a little longer to cook (45 minute wait), but is definitely worth trying. I recommend the Chicago Classic. read more

Arrived right before the pizza was supposed to be ready and we still had to wait about 15 minutes. That was fine. When the pizza came out it was a large pizza. Also fine, leftovers for tomorrow. What was wrong was the bacon was raw and had a funky taste to it. Didn't have time to complain and wait for another pizza. Also wound up throwing away the rest of the pizza since it tasted horrible. this place is a 9-iron from the office i go into 1 day a week. So today the boss ordered it up for the marathon marketing collab our group had and it wasn't too bad...on the plus, she insisted I take it home for my 4-y/o who devoured it for dinner. There's better pizza out there imo, and granted, we only had the thin (which is a pretty "thick" thin by Chicago thin crust standards.
