Got a box of goodies from a friend. She said her cousin got them for her to give to me from a downtown location but I couldn't find Gio's in downtown so leaving review on this Montrose location one. So far I tried the chocolate croissant & a pastry with pistachio paste on top. They were both good. My husband had what looked like a cupcake & was pleasantly surprised to find cream inside. The place looks cute inside, very cozy but I'm left a bit disappointed with the pastries I ordered. Considering the rave reviews, I was expecting a bit more flavor with the pastries but having a bite of both the chocolate croissant and a creme brûlée danish I found that they both lacked flavor. It felt like there was no salt to enhance or bring out any flavors so I just bit into bland (and rather stale) dough. The creme brûlée texture was also off but there was at least somewhat of a sweet flavor. I'm just a bit sad that the reviews told a story of tasty treats but maybe I went on an off day. read more

I only came in for a coffee and realized it was a restaurant and bakery. The baked goods looked pretty good and the menu items sounded pretty good. Great spot to come in and grab a treat or early breakfast. I occasionally dine in during Wednesday mornings because of my Banking Day schedule at school with my bestfriend. I always get the Chocolate Criossant and it's a staple. I also order a fun coffee or matcha on the side that compliments the pastry. Sometimes I order food for school like a chocolate chip cookie and it adds better qualities to my day. The workers are very respected and have small conversations with my party. I have enjoyed the paninis, sandwiches and pastries from the La crescenta location for some time, but it has become increasingly more frustrating ordering food from them after 4pm. I already find the operating hours inconvenient, but within the past year it's become almost impossible to order food after 4 because they close their kitchen so early. I understand that it's a cafe, but why serve sandwiches when you close your kitchen so early? I thought they would become a little more accommodating to the customers since Paris Baguette opened across the street, but it seems they're even less interested in retaining customers. read more

Indoor decor and atmosphere were cute and relaxing, respectively. Outdoor patio with street view was spacious. I came to try a light dessert and iced coffee. Tiramisu was tasty, soft and delightful. However, my iced coffee was banal and mediocre in quality; I had to give it away after two small sips. Service was inconsistent. Customer service was just okay; female server was nice and polite. Love Gio's! Have been going there since they first opened. Beautiful and delicious pastries, muffins and breads. Try the white chocolate raspberry muffin and the zaatar croissant. This is a family owned establishment and I always love family owned businesses because they take extra care in their goods to ensure freshness and quality. I've been a customer of Gio's since they opened in Montrose and now at their second location in La Canada . The food is amazing and their baked goods are oh so fresh. The lovely outdoor seatings where you can people watch, rich tasty cappuccinos, delicious pastries, mellow music on patio where you can enjoy coffee, read book and relax, delicious salads and sandwiches and bowls. Just a note: the staff should have a little smile on their face and be a bit more friendly! They all look very angry and sad and grumpy, specially the young short petit girl. Also if you are charging 3% for credit card payment and prefer cash only payment please have some cash in your register so you can give back changes. This is a cute spot in La Crescenta. Came here a few times for brunch because my coworker swears by it, but to be honest everything is underwhelming. The prices are steep for what you're getting portion-wise. They don't toast/heat up your pastries for you which is weird. Their coffee is pretty dark roast and I've never been a fan but all I drink are iced americanos. My friends like their cappuccinos and lattes tho! I recommend the Chicken Pesto Panini which comes with a bit of salad and a bit of chips. read more

My daughter and I have been loyal customers of Gio's for a long time. We've always enjoyed the atmosphere, the coffee, and the pastries at both locations. Unfortunately, our most recent visit to the La Crescenta location was so unpleasant that it has made us reconsider ever coming back. We ordered two hot lattes and two pastries. Instead, we were served two iced lattes. When my daughter politely corrected the mistake, the server took them back with visible attitude. Minutes later, what we received in return was unacceptable -- two cups of steamed milk with hardly any coffee in them. No care, no quality, no effort. From where I sat, it was obvious that the server was irritated and unprofessional while preparing them. This kind of treatment is unacceptable in any café, let alone one that has built a reputation on quality. Customers should not feel like they are a burden for simply ordering coffee. If the employees are unable -- or unwilling -- to provide even the most basic level of service, that reflects directly on management. Afterward, we looked at reviews online and saw that our experience was not unique. Clearly, there is a pattern of poor service at this location. That tells me the problem isn't just one employee -- it's a management issue. We have supported both cafés for years, but this experience was enough to make us question whether Gio's deserves our business anymore. Either address these ongoing issues with training, professionalism, and accountability, or continue to lose loyal customers like us, one after the other. read more

Amazing Armenian business! I randomly stopped here to grab coffee and I'm so glad that I did. The fresh smell of baguette hit me right when I walked in. It's super cozy and I love that there were street parking in the front. I ordered a regular coffee, an apricot croissant and a mini fruit tart. I grabbed my # and took a seat. I saw everyone around me enjoying what they had ordered: sandwiches, paninis, salads, crepes. I told myself I have to come back here with my family. Not long after my coffee and treats came out. This is the cutest little bakery in the cutest little town that is Montrose! I was looking for a place to grab coffee before my hair appointment and I'm so glad I walked in here. Their pastry selection was great and they also have a pretty good breakfast menu (which I'll definitely try next time). had an excellent lunch at gio's. They were able to make me a really nice oat milk mocha using dark chocolate so I have no problems due to dairy. They also make all their own bread and you can tell when you have one of their sandwiches. I myself had the turkey sandwich It was surprised to find they also make all their own dressings for their salad. I enjoy the meal very much and happened to run into some friends who frequent the restaurant a lot. I Doordashed this spot and had a Turkey Breast Sandwich and Chicken Pesto Sandwich. They were both amazing (except the bread being a little hard and hurting the roof of my mouth to eat). The portion looks small but it's surprisingly filling. I also tried the latte and it was solid. Not great or bad, and it got the job done. I just wish this cafe was a bit cheaper. read more
