I've been to Giovanni's in the past, and perhaps I caught them on an off night. The service was great, I called in a takeout order and the pick up process was quick and efficient. The food however was pretty bad. All the pastas were overcooked and mushy. Even my pasta loving kiddos took a couple of bites and couldn't finish it. The pizza was also just ok.

We were a group of 4, and we see it immediately right when they opened at 5pm on Saturday. Our server was Brandi and she made us feel so welcomed. Throughout our dinner offered to answer any questions we had at the menu or suggest recommendations. I ordered the chicken pesto fettuccine. It was so good. Not too salty or oily at all. Plenty of pasta and came with garlic bread on the side. Also ordered cheesy bread for the table. It came with marinara and ranch on the side. REALLY cheesy and good. Overall great restaurant and great service!

After a somewhat long drive from Yosemite is stopped at this restaurant for pizza and also I had lasagna. Service was good. Food was very good. Also, I'm a little hard to judge because in the dining room they had some of the restaurants equipment. I don't know if this is permanent or just matter chance this would be the one thing that might take a point they had a good selection of pizza toppings

Love the vibes here--great pizza & bar spot to watch football! I love that they had a $7 Hefeweizen on tap. I also tried the $10 Limoncello, which strong & sweet, which got my friend drunk off one haha. Masterpiece pizza was super yummy and filling. Medium size comes with 8 slices that could feed 2-3ppl (4-5 if you get another dish too). Dough is thick and fluffy, and you can't go wrong with a meat combo w/ mushroom & bell peppers! Caesar salad was the other star of the night, very light & refreshing to go with the heavy pizza. Everything else was just alright. Buffalo wings were small and light on sauce. Fettuccine Alfredo was super basic, as if it was a frozen microwaveable dish. Overall, I'd definitely come back for the pizza, salad, and drinks if there's a sporting event to watch that night! I'd pass on everything else there.

Superb lunch special! From 11am-2pm only. We came here to dine-in and both ordered the dinner salad with balsamic + the 2-topping pizza special. The thin crust was crispy. Delicious!

Came by here after hiking rainbow falls, and did not disappoint! Food and service was top notch! My group ordered a ginormous pizza and some boneless wings, pretty much fed a party of 6 hungry people. The go-to dish here has definitely got to be the pizza. Boneless wings were okay for what it was. Cheese and bread on the pizza tasted freshly made. Would come here again for some carb load after a long hike.

Gluten free pizza with eggplant, tofu, spinach, and vegan cheese.

Very cute, family pizza joint vibes. The main reason this place gets 5 stars is customer service. Our server was super nice. We ordered a gluten free pizza with eggplant as a topping, not knowing the eggplant is fried in wheat flour. When it arrived and I asked, the server said they use the same eggplant that's used in their eggplant pasta dish (which isn't clear on the menu.) when she learned I'm gluten free, she offered unprompted to Make a second pizza free of charge with olives in place of the eggplant. We kept the original pizza as my partner had taken a slice before I realized. They made sure the pizza came out quick so I could eat at the same time as my partner. Wow! So so nice of them, was really above and beyond. The pizza itself was great! Love that they have a vegan protein option (tofu), which tasted similar to a traditional sausage. They weren't skimpy on the cheese or other toppings, and the crust was nice and crispy. We will definitely be back. Thank you to our amazing server! Also, it gets busy so come early if you don't want to wait (though it does have a ton of seating on the inside).

this place was busy but there was self-seating in the bar/lounge in addition to restaurant seating where you wait for a host to sit you. we ordered the: - cheesy bread ($9.95): pretty average, generous amounts of stretchy cheese - pad thai chicken pizza (medium, $24.95): I didn't think the peanut sauce was prominent at all (or maybe just very unevenly distributed), which made the pizza not really taste like pad thai. having some nuts would have added a nice crunch! - bbq chicken pizza (medium, $24.95): this was pretty good, the bbq sauce was more on the sweet side than smoky side

If you're craving pizza or pasta in Mammoth, Vulcania is my pick…read more QUICK TAKE Get: Ravioli Bolognese, pizza, pasta, Caesar Skip: Voltaggi-O's giant meatball Know: The pastas are handmade, the pizzas are Neapolitan-style, and substitutions can be limited. Ravioli Bolognese: The standout dish. Rich, meaty, satisfying, and exactly the kind of homemade pasta dish that makes this place worth visiting. Pepperoni Pizza: Excellent crust, good char, and crispy pepperoni cups. Simple and really well executed. This is genuinely good pizza, not just good pizza for a mountain town. Caesar: One of the more unusual Caesars I've had. It arrived with essentially whole heads of lettuce, celery, and a homemade crunchy component that reminded us of a savory funnel cake. The homemade dressing was excellent. Different, fun to share, and memorable. Pasta: This is where Vulcania really shines. Everything tastes homemade, and I'd be comfortable ordering just about any pasta on the menu. Chicken Parmesan: Pretty good overall, with a creamy, rich sauce over the top. It was a little too heavy for me, but everyone else at the table loved it. Meatball: I would skip this dish. The meatball was undercooked and felt like it was lacking a binding ingredient. One thing worth knowing is that the kitchen isn't particularly flexible about modifying dishes. That makes sense for a chef-driven restaurant, but it's worth considering if you have picky eaters or prefer lots of substitutions. Overall, Vulcania is still the best pizza and pasta we've had in Mammoth. The handmade pasta is the real draw, the pizza is excellent, and dishes like the Caesar give the menu enough personality to make it more interesting than standard Italian-American food.

Five stars for the food, three stars for the host/ making reservations with a live person…read more Similar to the negative reviews, the host needs training. I called and inquired about a few things and when we arrived, we were told a different story. Long story short, use OpenTable to make your reservations and avoid the headache. Outside Pods- If you're interested in sitting in the pods outside, it's an additional $50-100 (depending on the day) and can fit 6-8 people. We had several kids in our party and they enjoyed the novelty of it. Our waiter Cam was great and made up for the poor service with the host. He had great recommendations as all were spot on. Cam recommended "family style" as many of the entrees are large and it gives you a chance to sample everything. We started with the asparagus summer rolls and tricolore salad. Both were delicious and refreshing. For the entrees we shared the cacio e pepe, margherita pizza, orechiette nero and chicken parmesan. Again, everything was excellent. For dessert, the gelato comes with three huge scoops along with three zeppoles (Italian donuts). The food was excellent and probably one of my new favorites in Mammoth.
