Not good ! From the moment we walked in, it was not good. Almost like we were being pushed out instead of welcomed in because they had a small party in the dining room. Anyway, lady "owner" tried shoving us into the bar for open seating, instead of just letting us know there's a wait. Turns out, they seated us immediately because it wasn't a full as they thought ! In fact several tables available! But instead, we got the waitress with the piss poor attitude, not friendly. The "lasagna" was not quality...cheese was too stringy and sauce was comparable to hospital spaghetti sauce. The small pizza was just meh ! For as busy as the place was, you'd think the food was outstanding... Personally, the food is very mediocre in taste and The food quality is on the low side. The restaurant in general is a shit hole, with old ass dishes with chipped and missing paint, old pizza stands, the table Parmesan shaker melted and leaning, the benches are old and beat up, dust all along the top of their dividing wall, honestly, the more I think about it, a call to the city inspector is more in line than a yelp review. I'd only recommend this place if you are absolutely starving and there is no place else in town open ! I'm surprised this place has so many good reviews, it's obvious people have lowered their standards to what good Italian food is. Came into today looking for some good pizza and salad. We were seated quickly and waited on quickly. Waitress was pretty attentive and she was ok with allowing us to split our bill in 3's. We were a party of 6. The food was pretty tasty only complaint about food was the chicken on the salad, tasted pretty processed. Also we ordered a large salad and were given 2 small dressings and the other that we asked for was $2 each for a very small amount maybe 1.0 oz. Anyhow my main complaint is when given our checks we were not told that the tip had already been added, which was on the receipt however we ended up double tipping until we asked for the receipt back. We stumbled into this place after a very beautiful ride down from South Lake Tahoe, we were hungry and pretty tired. Our hosts at our Airbnb left a QR code near the front door with all of their "Favorite Local Spots". Giovanni's was #1 on their list. The first thing that truly stands out from everything else was the friendliness and kindness our server displayed. What a lovely woman! I believe her name was Wendy. She was not only super cool to us, but each table she attended to. We had a cocktail to start, then I had Shrimp Scampi with the minestrone soup, my husband had the Salmon with the Caesar salad. Everything was STELLAR. It was a very modest and comfortable vibe in the restaurant and they were in the Vons market mall, nothing fancy, however the food was delicious and the flavors really sang. Giovanni's is a really nice family friendly restaurant! There are plenty of pizza and pasta options to choose from. We tried the oriental pizza and it was pretty good; very flavorful and having shrimp on pizza was so unique and I liked it a lot. The pasta we tried was the Alfredo, it was nice and creamy but very very simple and the portion was not that big. However, it did come with garlic bread, soup, and salad which made it worth it. Pretty good for Mammoth. Pizza is extremely heavy and greasy but tasty. They cook the crust well done but due to the heavy cheese snd toppings, it still ends up a bit floppy and pretty sloppy in the sense that toppings will slide off. My son is crazy about Chicken Parmigiana. So, needless to say, I have seen many Chickens Parmigiana dishes during the past many years. And this one is near the top if not the top. My son is doing a job on it and he wouldn't let me have any. But the way he is eating it is an indication. We asked for delivery and it was here right on time. So I haven't seen the actual store yet. Then here is my wife. She orders a Veggie Pizza. Most restaurants don't know how to make a veggie pizza. Generally the veggies are raw and though. But not this one according to my wife. I wished I could have a slice, but to my high weight, 205, I better not. Fantastic, friendly service and delicious pizza! I ate there last night and the bar lounge was packed so I ate in the main dining area which was 75% full. I got lucky and was seated by the front windows and while drinking my Amber beer, was treated to majestic Alpenglow on the mountain range beyond! SWEET! :0) My pizza came out pretty quick considering how busy they were. They had tons of friendly staff which made the entire evening delightful! I ordered regular crust with pesto sauce, artichoke, sausage, mushroom and garlic! YUMMY!!! I asked for it to be cooked well done but not burnt, it was baked to perfection and the flavor was SUPER DELISH! I was so hungry after hiking all day and it was so delish, I almost ate an entire Medium pizza! This was a pleasant surprise. Pizza in this town can be crazy expensive and not very good in this town. We came here for lunch. I had the pizza special and my BF ordered the meatball sandwich lunch. The pizza was filling and really tasty, with a flavorful pizza sauce. The meatball sandwich was just, "eh". Plentiful, but more like a meatloaf than meatball. The salads were fresh and I received the thicket blue cheese dressing ever! There was so much food it actually became dinner! That is a great deal considering we spent over $80 the other night for dinner (at another restaurant). To note, the food is more standard fare. We were hoping to find cioppino somewhere, but no luck. Spaghetti, lasagna, pizza and the like, but pretty good nonetheless. Labor Day craziness! We walked in last night and the place was packed. We found a table in the bar. The gentleman greeted us promptly with menus and silverware. We had the anti pasta salad and split a masterpiece pizza. Both were fantastic. The food came out in a timely manner considering how busy they were. Very impressive! I can't eat pizza without ranch and their ranch is tasty as well. I grew up going to Giovanni's and the interior hasn't changed much since I was little. The pasta tasted like pasta you get from a school cafeteria as if the pasta has been cooked and kept heated. The pasta sauce felt like it came straight from a bottle to the plate. We would've been better off going to Ralph's next door, picking up marinara sauce and a box of spaghetti to make at our hotel. Our kids didn't eat it but they were content with the garlic bread that came with the pasta dishes. They offer penne and spaghetti as their two spaghetti options. The pizza was the best thing on the menu if you like thick crust -- it's very floofy. I personally like this and I thought this was great! I would come back for their pizza. I got the shrimp scampi and it was yummy. You can't go wrong with this and the noodles were well done. I recommend this dish if you're craving some buttery garlic shrimp. I stopped into this pizza place while vacationing in mammoth with family. We had kids with us so we wanted pizza to satisfy the kids but was of a high enough quality that the adults would like it too. The restaurant is located in a strip mall with plenty of parking so there is no issues there. The restaurant itself has enough seating, but like most restaurants in mammoth you feel a little cramped when you are seated. We ordered two basic pepperoni and sausage pizzas. The topping portions were generous, the cheese tasted good, and the crust was just right. The pricing was also fair considering mammoth is a tourist spot where everything is a little more expensive. With that said, because it's not in the Village it's better priced then the locations there. The service was also fast and pleasant. I would probably make this my go to pizza place in mammoth and reccomend it to anyone! read more

Almost ate here three days in a row when nearby Noodle-Ly ran out of noodles but the two previous days were enough to establish Giovanni's as a solid choice. Recommended by a friend and Yelp, we arrived too early and had to kill over 30 minutes before they opened for dinner at 5pm. A gathering of people and groups made us realize this place attracts locals and tourists alike. With some other guys we established an orderly line and I made sure the guy parked next to us who was there first got in first. His party ended up being for 15 people! No matter, the setting is designed for accommodation and had plenty of tables. I'd like to try the bar lounge next time. Service was quick enough and we had water quickly. Upon ordering the server suggested getting a medium pizza instead of the large because we also had a large Greek Salad. We appreciated that when the food arrived, salad first. Delicious Greek dressing and roasted red pepper blended well with red onions, feta, and kalamata olives. The pizza arrived next and I realized the house style is slightly larger toppings than you'd find just about everywhere else. For instance, the artichoke hearts could have been quartered and still be substantial. I ate the leftover slices back at the condo. The crust is light and doesn't seem to burn. Next day we thought pasta and pizza would be great after we hiked. This time we rolled in around 7:30pm and were sat quickly. They're steady here and the middle dining area eventually got full. This time we got the thin crust option and I preferred it fresh and cold the next day. For pasta I selected Penne (other choices were spaghetti and fettuccine) with Bolognese sauce and meatballs. She got Ravioli filled with truffles and Porcini mushrooms, for the sauce cream with steamed vegetables seemed better than pesto. My Caesar Salad was great but much too much croutons, lol. Her Minestrone was chunky chunks of carrots (her favorite) and beans, etc. Also chunky cut were the veggies in her sauce, served on the side. My pasta was a little overcooked and the sauce a tad too spicy but those meatballs! Tender, moist, and alive with fresh basil and parsley. With all the mixed reviews, I wasn't sure what kind of experience we'd have. I'm happy to say everything we ordered turned out to be better than we expected. My husband's small 'Masterpiece' pizza had a soggy bottom which wasn't ideal, but the toppings were flavorful and fresh. My vegetarian lasagna was tasty and I loved that it had an array of veggies in it (artichoke, spinach, carrot, onion). We also enjoyed two small salads; a dinner salad which came with my meal and a greek salad. The greek salad was a hit and came with a homemade greek dressing. The dinner salad though good was more on the simpler side. Will definitely keep this restaurant in our rotation when back in the area. read more

We have been coming to Mammoth for years . We always order pizza from them it's always delicious. We were bummed they no longer deliver but oh well we drove over and got our pizzas . They made one wrong and luckily we checked before we left with it they remade it . The Gios pizza is my favorite. I am gf now so this year I didn't have pizza I see they offer gf crust but it's not made in house so I knew it would be the think cracker type .
