    Caesar salad salad and whipped goat cheese appetizer

    My girlfriend and I were doing a staycation at the Emery hotel so decided to pop in for apps and drinks. We were able to sit right away at high tops by the bar. We decided on the Caesar salad and whipped goat cheese. When I tell you, this was the best Caesar salad I've ever had... Probably because of the anchovy and pepperocini vinaigrette. The chewy focaccia croutons took the salad to the next level with added texture. The cheese was salty, the lettuce was crisp and perfectly dressed. I'm really not a huge Caesar person, but this will live in infamy and I would definitely return for the salad alone. The whipped goat cheese was surprising. The fig played nicely against the goat cheese, but the real standout were the pickled pecans. I didn't know you could pickle pecans. We ordered extra bread on the side. I added a tequila drink that was pretty good and my friend had a glass of red wine that she said was good.

    Been here for dinner and lunch! For dinner had the salmon entree which I thought was really salty. Their brussel sprouts were really good but really spicy. I loved the lunch! Chicken parm sandwich and mushroom pizza were superrr good.

    We waited a few minutes for a host to seat us, but after that the waiter was pretty good and attentive. He took a little long to take orders and bring the bill but we could tell he was working hard. The vibe is great here, fancy but comfortable and good for a casual date night. We ordered the whipped goat cheese, calamari and pizza. The appetizers were a little smaller than expected and being charged $1 per half slice of extra bread for the dip seemed a little much for our group of 5. The calamari was pretty good, but a lot of batter. The pizza was good, great crust that was crisp but had a nice chew and a thin crust. Overall a nice experience but a little pricey for the portions.

    Service was great! Every person we encountered had a great attitude and were very attentive. We went a few times considering we were staying at the hotel and each time we met some great people. Food was amazing. I'm definitely going back to try their fresh, daily made pasta. But the pizza, meatballs, and calamari that we ordered all tasted so good! This place seems like a great location for date night, drinks with friends, or a nice family dinner. The bar was also pet friendly which is huge for us :)

    It was an unexpected visit. Was hungry and looking for some Italian on Friday night lol. My oh my... the expectation was met. I got Caesar salad, Focaccia bread, Pappardelle and Duck pasta, I dont remember how to call it :) and risotto on the side. All were outstanding, definitely going back for Focaccia. The service was excellent, server was charming. Love the atmosphere since it's inside the hotel, parking was a bit tough ( street parking) but there some ramps around there.

    This was my second time at Giulia! While this place was good, I do think there are better Italian spots in the cities. We did love the vibes inside and our service was great! We got the whipped goat cheese, which we loved and said we would come back just for that. Although I do think they need to provide more bread and char it less... it was a little on the burnt side. I got the carbonara which was good but did have an odd kick to it, I don't know if they added some additional spice but it didn't taste like a simple carbonara. For dessert we got an apricot tart which was delicious! My friend and I both agreed that while we would return if someone wanted to go, we wouldn't necessarily recommend it as our first spot for Italian. The first time I went I got the Cacio Pepe and had the same feeling as this time. So maybe next time I'd try a pizza!

    Giulia is a classy spot (keep in mind the prices reflect a fancy dinner)! Our server was friendly and made some nice recommendations. I enjoyed my beet salad, and the olive oil cake with blood orange was a great shareable dessert. The restaurant is inside the Emery hotel, but it's easy to access.

    I went to Giulia's last Friday for the first time and it was overall a good experience except for the slow, almost non-existent service. Our server, Tom, tried his best, but it felt like we were forgotten for major chunks of the night. We found ourselves looking around for service way too frequently and it seemed like Tom was covering almost all the whole floor by himself, so we presumed that maybe one of the other workers called out that night. While the service was subpar, the food was amazing. I got the chicken parm and it was really tasty. The inside is very stunning and I found that sitting around the bar offers a better experience while you watch your food being made. They're located in the Emery hotel and street parking will be your best option. I plan to give them another try, but really hoping for prompt service to match the beautiful ambiance.

    Out of town review. Came here on a Thursday for their table side mozzarella. Located inside a hotel. Good vibes and decor. Read from other reviews that parking was hit and miss but we were lucky and got a spot on the street but looks like there's a lot of lots nearby. Seem like a lot of other people were ordering their table side mozzarella. We also ordered a pizza and chicken Parm. Mozzarella was all right when we first got it. It was soft and had a good pull to it, but as it sat and got cold, it got harder. The bread that they served with it was too hard. All the other toppings were pretty good. Pizza was a good size and I definitely think I could've shared it. My husband liked his chicken Parm dish too. Brownie points were having a highchair. Service was great and felt attended to. Overall, 3.8/5

    Good service, unique ambiance and an excellent appetizer helped Giulia score high during my visit. Tucked inside the historic Emery hotel, this restaurant features high marbled ceilings, flattering lighting, elegant Grecian columns and strategically placed greenery which all contribute to a relaxed yet elegant ambiance. The menu of Italian fare changes with the seasons, but seems to offer pizza, salads and pasta on regular rotation. My work group of 8 received extra friendly, prompt service from our waiter, and the polenta croquetta appetizer was wonderful. Crisp on the outside, soft and well seasoned on the inside with a delectably creamy dip, we made this dish disappear in no time! For my main, I opted for the ricotta and mushroom pasta, which was beautifully presented and a nice portion size. The savory notes were good, not great, but I appreciated the unique flavor combination and pasta shape. Our side dish order of rainbow carrots was more delicious than expected, as the carrots were cooked expertly to bring out their natural sweetness while maintaining an appropriately firm texture. Unfortunately the risotto side fell short, lacking both flavor and possessing an off-putting, mushy texture. I'd eat here again to try dessert and any standout new savory selections.

    Great experience at Giulia for a girls night! Started with an Aperol Spritz, it was delicious! We shared all the food and apps. Got the whipped goat cheese and oven-fried focaccia. Both were fantastic! Whipped goat cheese was my favorite. We got the Napoli pizza, caramelle pasta, and carbonara pasta. Pizza was perfectly cooked, crust was great! Carbonara pasta was my favorite but both pastas were great. Our server was kind and attentive. Can't wait to go back!

The focaccia bread appetizer was also amazing! We added & paid for a few extra pieces to accommodate the size of our group and everyone absolutely loved it. The drinks were also really well done & strong without being overly stiff. They were really well mixed and tasty. Our server was so sweet and helped make the experience so special for us. I cannot wait to come back!

I love the pink and green, and the place settings are gorgeous. Bonus: the team is super fast with clearing and bringing replacements so you always have a clean plate. Add in huge windows that brings in tons of light, and you have one of the most photogenic eateries in town. Dario's beverage menu is wonderful, and I especially want to draw attention to their extensive selection of non-alcoholic options. In addition to house-made sodas and creative cocktails, they have a wonderful list of dealcoholized wines--awesome news for anyone who is looking for a zero proof drink. As for the food, Dario knocks it out of the park with a menu that offers options for all tastes. The menu is designed to share, and the variety ensures that there will be something for everyone. The first two dishes that ai sampled were the Gem Lettuces, which our server described as "a Caesar salad on steroids" and the Morel Mushrooms. The Gem Lettuces were delicious--the zippy vinaigrette was better than any Caesar I have had before, the cheese was a fluffy, savory, and salty delight, and the puffed farro was a pleasing alternative to the usual croutons. Bonus: it's fish-free! I'd say that it's less a Caesar salad on steroids and more what happens when the Caesar salad next door goes off to college and has a glow-up. The morels were served on polenta and complemented with Madeira and tarragon. They came with a confit egg yolk. The presentation was strikingly beautiful, and the flavors pure and harmonious. The morels were cooked perfectly and went beautifully with the wine and tarragon--it was a great dish for spring, and everyone enjoyed the layers of texture and flavor. For our pasta choices, we had the English Pea Triangoli that Lu recommended (thanks Lu!) and the doppio. It's easy to see why Dario is known for its pasta--these dishes were amazing. The English Pea Triangoli was otherworldly: sweet peas, snap peas, onions, mint, and pea sprouts come together with butter to make a nostalgic little bite of heaven. It tastes like spring. Sicilian pistachios add crunch and another layer of sweet and salt, and the lightly steamed vegetables and fresh pea shoots and mint also added layers of texture and freshness. Positively superlative. The Doppio was also gorgeous: one side is filled with ricotta and the other sunchoke. Honey adds sweetness and the hazelnuts toastiness reminiscent of browned butter. The rosemary complemented it all. For my dessert, I had the Earl Gray tea cake. It had a very pleasing crumb and subtle sweetness, and the lemon whipped cream was the perfect accompaniment. The sprinkle of toffee cookie added a lovely caramelized crunch, and the bright acidity of the rhubarb was preserved, making for a juicy and refreshing burst of flavor in every bite. Splendid! Known for their handmade pasta, we didn't mess around with any other menu items...we just ordered four different plates of pasta: Doppio, Torteletti, Rigatoni Alla Vodka, and Tajarin! The Doppio was my favorite, with a unique double filled pasta that had a savory sunchoke filling highlighted with a pop of whipped ricotta. The Rigatoni was cozy and warm, serving up perfect comfort food vibes. The Tajarin was the ocean in a bowl and my partner's favorite, but it was a bit too salty for my palate. The food was top notch and the environment was stellar, but I did feel a bit of cognitive dissonance. The food was so grounded, earthy, and cozy yet the interior was whimsical, playful, and ethereal. This disconnect took my out of the experience a bit. Add in that the price points are a bit high, and I could see why some might have different expectations. Overall, I'm glad Dario is taking swings at providing something truly unique to the North Loop! I will absolutely be returning!

This pie gives more of a tangy/sour taste that pickles provide and more of a crunch due to the chips that are added on top. The dill is present, but not overpowering. It's a nice low-key kind of taste that people who like pickles will enjoy. Overall, the flavors were very rich in every pizza pie that we had that our mouths were bursting with flavor. It was definitely the most unique pizza toppings that I've had and can see why it's so highly regarded. I can tell that they really are meticulous with their every process and that their pizza guy by the wood fire oven is expertise in what he does. My friend and I walked out quite satisfied and I was honestly more full than I expected.

For our second side, we got the tomato sugo, which was a very satisfying starter. Deep, rich tomato flavor, the perfect level of salt and herbs: you can taste the love and time that went into it. (The focaccia that came with was amazing, but you could totally eat this with a spoon, too.) For my main, I had the red bucatini (yes, I like tomatoes, especially when paired with time). It was absolutely awesome--the pasta was cooked perfectly and was the perfect shape for the sauce. The sauce was great. The chili oil added an excellent kick. The garlic breadcrumbs added textural interest and flavor. Again with the perfect, savory made-with-love mouthfuls. I was truly enamored with this one. For dessert, everyone went for the budino, a rich, delicious chocolate-hazelnut pudding topped with a generous mound of silky vanilla whipped cream, crunchy sugar cookie crumbles, and a drizzle of EVOO. It was perfectly balanced and just the right amount. Tying everything together was excellent service from everyone who we encountered. Knowledgeable, friendly, and efficient, they made our evening all the more pleasant.

    First time at Tosca- the ambiance is very cozy, warm and welcoming. They welcome you with foccacia…read morebread and then we ordered the sugo to pair with it. The sugo was really delicious and garlicy- my only negative is I wish they warmed the bread up that is the only thing that would have made it a notch better. We ordered the short rib tagliatelle and the white spaghetti. The beef was super tender and the ragu for the tagliatelle was very good. And the white spaghetti was very well balanced between the acidity from lemon, saltiness from the Parmesan cheese and garlickyness. Definitely recommend!
