Enjoyed getting lunch at Ghelina! Really good pizzas, the way I like thin and full of flavor. Lamb tastes just like kebab yum! Also tried the crispy potatoes, which turns out to be pretty good too. Definitely must try pizzas! Extremely friendly staff

This was my second visit to Gjelina, and I can confidently say it has become my favorite restaurant in West Los Angeles. Every time I'm in LA, it's at the top of my list. You can truly tell that Gjelina is built around thoughtfully sourced, seasonal ingredients and the relationships they have with local farmers, ranchers, and fishermen. Everything tasted incredibly fresh, and every dish let the quality of the ingredients shine. We started with a half dozen each of the Riptide oysters from Massachusetts and the Love Point oysters from Maine. Since we couldn't decide, we split them and I'm so glad we did! They were unbelievably fresh, clean, briny, and absolutely delicious. Next was the Smoked Trout Salad with arugula, citrus, avocado, red onion, lemon, and olive oil. I'm honestly not much of a salad person, but this completely changed my mind. They were generous with the smoked trout, the citrus added the perfect brightness, the avocado was perfectly ripe, and the simple lemon and olive oil dressing tied everything together beautifully. It was one of those dishes where every ingredient complemented the next. We also shared the Beef Tartare with sourdough, Dijon mustard, capers, and shallots. If you've never tried beef tartare before, this is a wonderful place to experience it. The beef was incredibly fresh, finely chopped, and perfectly seasoned. Served with toasted sourdough, it was rich, flavorful, and surprisingly approachable. Although our meal consisted mostly of small plates, my partner and I left completely satisfied. To finish, we had the fig gelato and the mango sorbet. Both desserts were exceptional fresh, light, and full of natural flavor. The mango sorbet especially tasted like perfectly ripe mangoes, and the fig gelato was rich without being overly sweet. Our server, Mattias, was outstanding. Toward the end of our meal, I happened to overhear that it was actually his first day. I was genuinely shocked because you never would have guessed it. He answered every question with confidence and kindness, especially when another guest was unfamiliar with some of the menu terminology. He made everyone feel comfortable and welcomed. Our water glasses were always full, our plates and silverware were refreshed between courses, and we never once felt overlooked. His attentiveness and professionalism made an already wonderful meal even better. The patio atmosphere was beautiful intimate, relaxed, and perfect for a Southern California evening. Between the incredible food, warm hospitality, and inviting ambiance, Gjelina continues to impress me every single time. This restaurant has officially become one of my favorite places anywhere, not just in Los Angeles. I can't recommend it enough, and I'll absolutely be back every chance I get.

We had a great lunch before heading over to The Electric Lodge for the performance of "1518: The Dancing Plague." It had a lively and rustic neighborhood vibe. There were some great vegetarian options. We tried the grilled dragon tongue beans, mushroom pizza, wood roasted cauliflower, etc. Our server was nice and able to guide us on how much to order.

After hanging out on Venice beach in the afternoon, my cousin and I were looking for a spot to grab early dinner before I was off on my redeye flight back to the East Coast. Surprisingly there weren't a ton near the main shopping street, but we immediately saw this place and there was availability on the rooftop. We grabbed it and off we went! We were surrounded by heated lamps which we actually needed since it got a tad bit breezy with intermittent mist. But fortunately, we got a great hostess who recommended some great options for us. The Japanese sweet potato was fire. The broccolini was the better complement to the Gruyère pizza. That pie had so much flavor and pizzazz to it. What a great way to end my LA trip! For anyone in the area, they should definitely come here for dinner.

Every time I visit LA and come to the Santa Monica area I mean to try Gjelina but it's always so busy.... But finally, it happened.! We came in for an early evening meal and we sat in the courtyard, which was perfectly set up with umbrellas to keep you shaded and cool. There are probably 10 tables back there, they all have comfortable seating The staff are really good, super attentive and working as a team, always anticipating your needs. Of course we wanted to try everything but it can get pricey quickly. We skipped any cocktails this time and jumped straight to food. - we started with the burrata, with prosciutto and grilled peaches. It was delicious. It was just the right amount of a balsamic vinaigrette that is not too overpowering. I wish it had some toast or something with it for a crunch component, but it was so nice and refreshing. Next, we tried the grilled corn appetizer, which came in a skillet and was pretty creamy, different than I was expecting, but still really yummy. The bolognese with the ricotta on top was my favorite dish of the day. It was so flavorful and the perfect ratio of each ingredient to feel just right and filling. I wanted to try the pizzas so bad, definitely coming back next time for those!

Ive being a fan of Gjelina's for a long time now. The restaurant has a rustic, lively atmosphere with brick floors, greenery and a buzzing crowd that reflects the trendy Venice Beach dinning scene. Reservations are a good idea although they also accept walk-ins, just keep in mind that there could be a wait. The reason I love this restaurant so much is how vegetable-forward they are using seasonal produce and simple wood-fired cooking techniques that gives the perfect smokiness and char taste to the food. They showcases locally sourced seasonal ingredients to create the most delicious dishes. They also have great variety of small dishes like fresh oysters, salads, meats, poultry and wood-fired pizzas. Some of my favorites are: - Mushroom Toast: Bread perfectly butter and toasted and the mushrooms are tender and tasty. - Wood Roasted Cauliflower: Great smokey and char flavor with a hint of garlic. - Crispy Fingerling Potatoes: We order twice! Perfectly crispy outside and tender inside with rosemary and Parmesan. - Japanese Eggplant: One of the most famous dishes for a reason. Perfectly caramelized sweet potato with jalapeño yogurt and scallion. So creamy and balanced - Charred Brussels Sprouts: tossed with citrus, herbs, chili and walnuts, so yummy! - Pomodoro Pizza: the one we ordered this time, I always ask well-done, love the char toasted corners. But also the mushroom with fontina & truffle goat cheese is really good. The only criticism is that change or modifications are politely decline. I still enjoy it a LOT so for me, if I'm in the area is always a GO TO!

Great restaurant in Venice that has a little something for everyone, California cuisine. Great service and ambiance, but definitely on the pricey side. We came here for brunch and made a reservation in advance - party of 8. They can't seat you until everyone is there and we still had to wait about 10 mins or so. They seated us upstairs in what felt like a private room which was really nice. Gorgeous florals on the table too. They say they recommend sharing so you can go that route or just order a dish per person. The portions aren't really tapas style and the prices aren't either. Despite that, we went pretty hard and ordered a ton of dishes... -Yuk Choy: this veggie dish was really good, one of my faves. It's a leafier bok choy apparently. It comes with a creamy tahini sauce over it. -Smoked trout salad: fresh and tasty, very light. The pieces of trout were tasty -Hangar steak banh mi: Looks and tastes more like a steak sandwich than a banh mi but this was quite good. Good for sharing with another person. Crunchy crispy bread but not difficult to eat. The pieces of steak were tasty and flavorful. Probably my favorite dish of the meal. -Duck hash: Crispy egg sits atop chunks of duck along with cubed potatoes and other veggies. It was good, mustardy. -Steak tartare: Pretty good but also nothing standout -Japanese sweet potatoes: Also pretty good, jalapeño sauce. In my opinion, erewhon makes them better lol -Romanesco: veggie dish that was really unique and tasty. Capers and sardines give it a nice tang and saltiness. My other family members got a few pizzas and they weren't crazy about them. The kids (and adults!) were obsessed with the lemon ricotta pancakes, which were also beautiful with a blueberry compote. Service was great, we had a really friendly waiter, DJ, who was on top of it and thoughtfully coursed out the meal for us and provided us with recs. The one thing, and it's kind of a big thing, that we disliked about this restaurant is that you can't make any modifications, substitutions, or even omissions from any dishes. Even if someone has an allergy! My boyfriend & I are lactose intolerant so we were hoping to try certain dishes without the dairy but they were unable to accommodate that. And it's not like we were wanting a dish that relies on dairy, such as Mac n cheese without the cheese; I get how that request would be challenging. We wanted to try a couple dishes that don't even rely on dairy and would simply be topped with cheese or a simple yogurt sauce. We found this disappointing and it honestly made us feel like the chef thinks he's better than thou. They should allow simple omissions for allergies, come on. All in all, good meal but be prepared to spend $$.

The best grilled baby artichokes with mushroom in the back

Another lovely meal! Seated right away at our res time and given a choice of any table on the patio. So much quieter out there. The service was kind and awesome. Lots of staff on top of the service, but not overbearing. I found everyone very helpful. Everything we ordered was fantastic. We shared the baby artichokes, butterball potatoes and mushrooms. Loved all the veg. They really do so well with every veg dish. Also had the chorizo pizza which was incredibly flavorful. The crust is perfect for me. Thin and not heavy, very tasty. One of my favorite dining experiences in the area.

Jennifer C.

Top picks: house made pickles, saffron pasta, and their roasted cauliflower with hanger steak. These ones had a beautiful contrast of umami flavor and the portion sizes complemented each other for sharing. The oyster mushrooms were juicy but overly salted. Staff was very sweet but nothing extraordinary. Attentive but not the best conversationalist, at least the ones we had. But it didn't bother us. The decor was very minimalist and personally love the outdoor patio to dine in.

chorizo pizza

Good food! The pizzas are really tasty but the standout was the orichiettie beef cheek pasta. It had a thick sauce packed with meaty delicious flavor and topped with this rich ricotta cheese on top! The chorizo pizza was like a yummy pepperoni pizza. We all thought the squash dish they are known for was not as good as we had hoped. The squash was a bit hard and it needed more sauce. The inside felt really dark but the patio outside seemed more vibrant and cuter! I thought the menu was jam packed with too many items and as a designer the way it was laid out felt overwhelming and hard to read / choose things. For a pretty pricey place I wish the service matched that. Our server didn't really explain the menu to us and only gave me recs when I had asked and then she seemed a bit annoyed with us figuring out what to order.

Prosciutto and cheese sandwich with pickled veggies. Decent and my kiddo liked it.
Miriam F.

Good food, but a little strange that we couldn't make any modifications even when we had some people who had a dairy sensitivity. Not sure what that's about. We ordered a bunch of dishes and they were all really good. I wasn't a fan of the pizza. We ordered the caramelized onion one and the truffle one and the basic margherita with burrata, but I really wasn't too impressed with the flavors sadly. I did love the broccoli romanesco with the caper dressing, and the bok choy with tahini was incredible. Sweet potato dish was awesome. My kids shared the lemon ricotta, blueberry pancakes, and that was a hit! I had several bites and I was really impressed. The still water and sparkling water that we ordered didn't come in the San Pellegrino, so I kind of wish they would've told us that part. DJ was our waiter and he was really great with giving us enough space but also giving us some recommendations too. We sat all the way upstairs, with the other families and older folk lol. Love the ambience of the place and it feels like an older home. Definitely charming quality to it. I think they should add labels to each other their dishes to let people know if it's vegan or gluten-free, especially if they can't do any modifications. Otherwise would give them 4 or 5 stars

Saffron Spaghetti (far left), Asparagus Sauce Gnocchi (top right), and Wagyu Beef Cheek Bolognese (bottom right).

This place is such a vibe. I loved the aesthetic. We were able to sit out on the back patio by the fire pit, which kept us warm and made the experience even better. Our waiter was knowledgeable and incredibly patient with our group. The pizzas were amazing! I highly recommend the squash blossom pizza, which was my personal favorite. The wagyu beef bolognese was also fantastic, and all I can say about the asparagus sauce gnocchi is that it was exactly as advertised. Very asparagusy. Overall, we had an amazing experience.

Ambiance has always been lovely here. Food is good- I did prefer the pasta and veggies to the pizza. Come with a group and share different plates for variety. The seasonal honeynut squash pasta was my favorite dish. Note, they aren't a restaurant that accommodates a lot of preferences (e.g., crispiness of the pizza, extra sauce on the side) so keep that in mind when making a reservation!

Private party rooms?

For sure! You can have the roof for yourself - magical at sunset.

Any chance you serve mushroom toast at lunch today? 🥹?

For lunch they have ENGLISH PEAS ON TOAST Burrata, Mint Pistou, Pea Tendril - 26$ They offer it on dinner menu. Not the lunch or afternoon menu. You can always ask once you…

Can they make things vegan? Vegan options?

They have an extensive Vegetable offering section on all of their menus. With regards to Veganism, that is something you can ask the server. The restaurant is very accomodating

Do the serve their dessert menu during lunch?

Yes, the dessert menu is served during lunch.

Can any of the pizzas be made vegan by omitting cheese?

They do not make ANY modifications at Gjelina, so they wouldn't do this for you. They do have a lot of delicious things on the menu, though, that would be vegetarian already.

Do they have a full bar or just beer & wine?

Beer and wine only

Do they have valet parking?

I do not believe they do, but there is plenty of free street parking available nearby.

Are dogs not allowed even in the outdoor seats?

I don't know for sure, but I doubt it. You have to walk through the indoor restaurant to get to the outdoor seating. I suggest calling for a definitive answer.

What size are the pizzas?

The pizzas are not like traditional pizzas, they felt more fresh and not so much dough. We shared one and some other courses.

Can you have a dog on the patio?

Sadly, no.

Do you take walk-ins?

Yes but plan on waiting for a table.

Any vegan or vegetarian dishes?

definitely. not huge selection, but you should find enough.

I had a Pilsner there and thought it was German but can't find the beer menu. Does anyone know what they serve?

Was it the Victory Prima Pils? It's from Pennsylvania.

Is it really noisy at lunch? I want to be able to talk with my date as well as eat.

To be honest, we went with 8 people for brunch on a Sunday afternoon, and it was tremendously loud. My husband and I went for dinner, and it was still very loud. The food is fantastic but if it's a first (or second) date; I wouldn't recommend it. We…

PROTIP: Study the menu beforehand, eat on the Patio, order the Wngs and Short Rib and Try Son Nong Dan across the street. SUMMARY: Go to Koreatown and get better food for less I finally visited the much hyped Mulberry the other night, expecting a fantastic experience based on all the hype and social media. What I got was an overpriced meal on Sawtelle that watered down what should have been a showcase for excellent Korean food.  Mulberry is cramped and dark on the inside and excellent on the patio. There are some interesting tables inside near the back, but the Patio is where the action is, especially when the sun is out.It has shades of Hatchet Hall's ambiance and a great vibe. Service comes fast and is very good. They do know what they are doing from a service perspective. Drink orders arrive quickly, and food is served fairly fast. We knew what we wanted before going. Korean Pancake, Wings, Dumplings, Acorn Noodles and Short Ribs.  Korean Pancake - small and just ok flavor. The sauce was good, but for $17, you could get a giant, better tasting pancake almost anywhere else. Fried Chicken Wings - probably one of the two stars of the night--had a fantastic crust and were very plump and juicy. Sauce and pickles were excellent and you get two types of wings with each order, both were excellent.  Acorn Noodles - a very good mix of flavors, good nori, the hard-boiled egg (a surprise) was good--expensive for $22Steamed Dumplings - well made and cooked well, but the lackluster sauce served with them didn't help. A well-crafted dumpling that needs a much more flavorful sauce to accompany it.  Beef Short Ribs - The other star on the menu, along with the wings. Very tender and great taste. Use the salt! We ordered the extras which you don't have to do. Small piece for $49. It's a No Tip restaurant so you get the automatic 20% charge - which I did not mind. Pay the help. Our bill came to $200 for a meal that was probably worth $100.You can go to some of the AYCE Korean BBQ places and get better quality, more food and be happier. The hype for this place will die down. If you like Sawtelle go to Son Nong Dan across the street for an overall better experience and better pricing.

Went early to see if anything opened or if walk-in would be faster, surprisingly they actually had something come available sooner. We opted to sit inside and loved the ambiance. Food - amazing! I read reviews first and watched a couple IG videos so I knew a general idea of what we wanted to order. Glad the server suggested the orange chicken over the walnut shrimp when we were debating it. Chil wontons, absolutely a must get, different from DTF, not crazy spicy but full of flavor and richness. XO fatty noodles, perfect chewiness on the rolled noodles and the flavors were well balanced, we enjoyed them with a little chili paste and the orange chicken as the protein. Orange chicken, soooo much more flavorful than your average Panda Express orange chicken, good sized nuggets of chicken that were crispy and tender at the same time, and the zest livened it up. BBQ pork shank, our server did warn us it's not the easiest to eat, but it's worth it, hard to see cutting it off the bone because it was so dimly lite in the restaurant and your hands will get sticky but once you get chunks off the bone and your bao bun built it's delicious especially when you get the lacquered crispy skin yummm! The cocktails are crafted perfectly, strong but smooth, and the atmosphere feels intimate without trying too hard. It's got that hidden-gem energy. Great music, great crowd, and just an overall solid spot when you want something more elevated than the usual bar scene. Definitely one of my favorites.

July 2026, I think there were watch parties here for FIFA games. These games are during work hours. Well, I decided to come here for a Singles Meetup. Where is everyone? The bartender showed me a menu which I could order food that will be delivered from The Brixton. Scan the QR code to order. "Sorry, we aren't accepting orders at the moment..." I guess I could finish my beer, pay my tab and go searching for something good to eat. She didn't know the Wi-Fi password neither because they changed the password. Why broadcast the guest Wi-Fi if you aren't going to make it available? There was no organizer for the meetup event. With only a handful of people here, do I want to wait for the karaoke session? It's time to go eat somewhere else.

We started with the fried green tomatoes, and they were a standout. I'm usually not a pimento cheese fan, but here it elevated the dish. Every bite had the perfect balance of crispy crunch, creamy cheese, fresh herbs, and just the right touch of heat. For our mains, we ordered the lamb shank and collard greens. The lamb was fall-off-the-bone tender, and the rich, deeply flavorful broth made it even better. The green beans added a fresh pop that balanced the dish nicely. The collard greens were equally impressive, slow-cooked in a savory, flavorful pot liquor that begged to be soaked up with the must-order cornbread. Crispy on the outside, warm and buttery inside--it was perfection. Don't skip dessert. The chocolate chip cookies arrive warm from the oven and are the perfect ending. With its cozy, nostalgic atmosphere and elevated Southern cooking, Hatchet Hall feels like Sunday dinner at Grandma's--with a modern twist.

The breakfast plate was fine - bacon is really salty. The cornbread is the best part but even that is only good for the first few bites and then is heavy. Service is great though, so is the non-alcoholic cocktails menu and the ambience! Good for vibes and date nights if you're not picky about the food.

Also, having recently traveled throughout Indonesia in part of June & July 2026, I now understand more of the items on the menu from personal experience! Japanese Curry | Savory, hearty & delicious! I was immediately amazed when my plate arrived at the table! Eggplant, squash, baby carrots, and other veggies, swimming in the vibrant Yellow Curry made my mouth water! Each bite was just as yummy as the next! Incredibly flavorful! I would easily order again! Jasmine Rice | An aromatic mix of ginger, lemongrass & Thai lime leaves are both flavorful, as well as a great addition to combine with the Japanese curry dish! English Date Cake | Yum! The cake arrived complete with a beautiful purple flower on top! I absolutely love dates, which was a delicious part of the dessert! The banana toffee sauce really comes through as well! What a delicious combo! I would easily order again! Travel Notes | While in Indonesia I enjoyed some of the local flavors/dishes! After trying Nasi Goreng for the first time, Vegetarian style, I had the dish often throughout my travels! When I first saw the dish on the menu at Wallflower, I had no idea of what the flavors would taste like! Now I know and hopefully, on my next visit, I'll ask if the Chef can create it vegetarian style! Menu Options | More than the main menu is available; Vegan, Vegetarian & Gluten-free! I explored the vegetarian menu! Customer Service | Excellent, friendly and helpful with the menu! Seating | Indoor & Outdoor! Friends and I sat on the outside patio! I love the cute wooden tables! Overall | Yes, please! I enjoyed my dining experience, immensely, at Wallflower! I also had plenty of leftovers to enjoy! I'm looking forward to going back and trying other items on the menu! Let's go!

Every dish tasted thoughtful, unique, and restaurant-week-level refined. We ordered the nasi goreng fried rice, noodles, beef rendang, yam dish, and pea salad. Flavor-wise? Almost everything was incredible. The beef rendang especially was packed with flavor, and every dish felt elevated and intentional. My only reason for knocking off a star is the value. The portions were tiny -- not "small plates" tiny, but more like one-to-two bites each while still being priced aggressively. By the end, I felt more impressed than full. If the portions matched the quality, this would've easily been a 5-star experience. That said, if you care more about exceptional food than portion sizes, this place is worth trying. One of the most memorable meals I've had on the Westside.
