Love this place! We arrived around 6ish without reservation. It took 50 minutes to be seated but the wait was well worth it. Our server was very friendly and helpful. So fresh and a great place to come for Anchorage newcomers. I came here for dinner and ordered the salmon, which came with potatoes and some veggies. I've never seen salmon so red. Others ordered the special (king salmon) and loved it. Very buttery with lots of flavor. For an appetizer, four of us shared the fried calamari. I've never had calamari as good. It was in a fry-like shape, different from the calamari I'm used to but oh so good. We also ordered the rosemary bread with fig and chive butters. The fig butter is a bit too sweet, and I didn't try the chive one, but people seemed to like it. For dessert (the best part), I shared the peanut butter pie. YUMMM. Brunch was def lacking. My scrambled eggs has a weird runny/creaminess to the inside (almost like underdone, but not). The gravy on the B&G was sparse considering the gargantuan size of the biscuits, and was overall lackluster. The Gouda grits weren't bad. Let server know food wasn't very good. Honestly only ate maybe 3-4 small bites of each item. No attempts to remedy the situation were made, instead I was offered dessert bcuz I might be hungry since I didn't eat my food. Real bummer gbh. We went in for lunch. Two adults and a 1 year old. The service was great. My issue is for the price you are paying.. I would like to see better gluten free options. The gluten free option meant instead of a burger bun, you got a lettuce wrap. Instead of breaded calamari, there was no breading (weird!). Franz makes a great gluten free bread option. You can even see if they make bread crumbs too! I just feel with the higher end and better quality restaurant such as this I shouldn't be going down a level of quality and taste because of something beyond my control for health reasons. read more

Exceptional food, excellent service. Flew in today and debated where to eat dinner. Decided to try this place only to have our B&B owners highly recommend them as well. We were surprised by the owner having "Free Appetizer" cards on hand for this place too. We were not disappointed. They do get busy so a reservation is best! We lucked out and squeezed in at 3:45 ahead of the 4 pm rush. The fish and chips were really good with tasty chowder and coleslaw. The flat iron steak was excellent. You have to try the calamari. It was my first time in Anchorage in order to visit some friends. They recommended this place in order to try the fresh Alaskan Salmon. Our waiter Matthew, was kind and courteous. We ate here our last night in Anchorage. We were with our teenage granddaughters. We all had good meals--shrimp salad, salmon, roasted chicken and stuffed cod. Girls liked their specialty drinks of blackberry lemonades and a non alcoholic mojito. Servers were very friendly. Place was jam packed. We were told there was a 45 minute wait but we found a table in the open seating area. And it was quite loud, which is the norm for these places, it seems. read more

Ok so the food and beer are great (former beer brewer here). With that said, the service was terrible. I say at the bar and it took me 20 minutes to receive a cold appetizer and a beer. The bartender, "Craig", was a nice guy who said that my beer was on the house... Until it wasn't. I was charged for everything. There were four other people at the bar around 1pm. The brewery has a great decor with lots of wood and a fireplace. However, you can get the same at the 49th State Brewing Company and have excellent service in addition. I was traveling solo through Anchorage and have no allegiance to either brewery. Glacier Brewing has great potential but without better management it's not even close to other breweries nearby. Once again glacier brewhouse doesn't disappoint. Got reservations the same afternoon. Reservations are a must in summer! In the winter I'd even make reservations in the evening time. The food is great, the beer is awesome as usual. Service is excellent. I really love their orange pomegranate Margarita. It's not too sweet and just right! Beer drinkers will not be disappointed either. Let's see... Favorite dishes. Chowder, calimari, herb crusted halibut, the salmon, steaks are always good too. Do not forget the peanut butter pie ! The food was amazing, the ambiance was great, and the service even better! It seemed like it was ridiculously packed but we were still seated quickly and got our food fast as well. Best calamari ever! It has a slightly crispy outside and is tender inside. A delicious creamy and spicy sauce served with it. The ahi tuna is exceptional. And the steak with the root beer glaze is always a go to. Can't go wrong with anything on the menu. We always take friends from out of town here for a great and delicious experience. We came here on a Friday around 5pm (party of 2) and were seated immediately. The restaurant was quite busy but our waiter didn't rush us and was very helpful. It was our anniversary, Sunday, and many of our favorites were closed. Our son works downtown and suggested the Glacier Brewhouse. We thought "why not." It had been years since our last visit and we've always had a decent meal there. We've shied away only because it is always so jammed packed with dinners and it took forever to get seated - especially during the summer. This was an excellent decision! We called in a reservation and our table was ready for when we arrived. All the staff were so nice and attentive. Our salads were excellent and the rib eye steaks grilled just right. In our conversation with the waiter we mentioned this was our wedding anniversary. She congratulated us and said dessert was on the house (and the bread pudding was to die for). We almost rated the experience a 5 but we had to wait more than we should have for each course of the meal. All in all it was a wonderful anniversary dinner and we'll be back for lunch. read more

In a nutshell: A huge disappointment. Service: cold and indifferent. Atmosphere: old. Drink: Tried the amber ale, which was excellent. (Nicest thing about our meal.) The Snow Cosmo was strong but uninspired, and not exactly as described. Food: 1/2 lb Snow crab leg ap was no where near 1/2 and over cooked. But what warrants the 1 star was the salmon. It was disgustingly, embarrassingly, utterly overlooked. I would have sent it back but the people serving scared me. The green beans that can with were ok, the pilaf under seasoned and dull. We tried the World Famous Peanut butter choc desert, which was indeed tasty but essentially crushed Oreo cookie style crust with a thick layer of cream cheese peanut butter frosting, coated in chocolate with crushed butterfinger sprinkles. Reminded me of something you'd get at a sit down chain. Order it a la mode and with a glass of milk, and share with 4 people! It's strikingly potent. Just had my first experience here and I really enjoyed the food and drinks. I have had to hear about this place for a year from my bosses, they have ranted and raved. Their Raspberry Wheat was yummy! I ordered their Black and Blue Steak (off the menu) and luckily there is still a chef who knows how to make it so I could try out the famous steak I have heard about! I think I'm going to skip coming here for a while. Today was an okay visit. My food was warmish ( flat iron steak ) steak was great but mashed potato and toppings were cold. I think my food sat too long because everything else's was warm. My daughter ordered the Hunter's skillet and she said it was a little salty. We also had ice cream sandwiches but we think the cookies were a day old. So my daughters just ate the ice cream and skipped the cookie. The thing that really turned me off during this was that our server was dusting the blinds and the dust was blowing on us ( yes, even if you are using a swiffer duster it still has dust flying and I think that was rude and shouldnt be done when you have customers around ). read more

We were told that our wait for a two top would be 1.5, but it was 2 hours. The hostess didn't tell us that there was a designated waiting area with chairs and tables, so instead we stood around in everyone's way until 1.5 into our wait. When we were seated our table still had some crumbs on it and the booth seat had some bigger crumbs. I cleaned it up myself cause I didn't want to wait any longer. The seafood chowder I order was very good! There were some crunchy pieces in it which I am assuming were possibly shells? The calamari was AMAZING! We would go back for just that! A group of waiters were complaining about how long their shifts were next to our table and being pretty loud about it. One said that they had been there since 10am and another said that they had been on a 14 hour shift. Not sure if they were short handed or if it is normal to work those types of hours, but it didn't add to the ambiance of our dinner. Overall the food was great and we excepted a long wait because it was a Saturday. Dessert (peanut butter pie) was delicious but very rich! Be prepared to take it to go. read more
