Hidden gem, for sure! I hadn't heard of Gloria's before my friend suggested it for brunch, and she stumbled upon it by accident herself! This cozy cafe has indoor and outdoor seating, and a good selection of parking spots! They have both traditional American and also Mexican inspired breakfasts, as well as some sandwich and lunch options. I ordered the chilaquiles and my friend got eggs, chorizo and country potatoes. From my bite I stole, the chorizo has great flavor! My chilaquiles were a huge portion, and so delicious and full of flavor. They weren't super spicy but they did provide extra salsa. The service was extremely slow. We waited over an hour before we got our food while we watched the tables that came in after us get their food before us. Our waitress didn't check in on us so we couldn't order more drinks. We waited for so long that we actually set a timer for 10 minutes and said if we didn't receive our food in those next 10, we'd be leaving. We were happy with our food once it was delivered, but we had missing food items/sides. I'm in the service industry myself so I understand how hard it is to please everyone when things are slammed and you're in the weeds, but there should have been more communication from our server/the staff at least just checking on us. My family had arrived at 1045 placed a party of 12 and then a party of 5 down so we can split up our total. Everyone has arrived with the exception of my family of 5 who were about 30 minutes late. Now if you were in San Francisco or any other city, they would had given the table away and not save it for the party who is late. We are very grateful for your patience and understanding. Really good food, service is a little slow, lattes are expensive, cost more than Starbucks. Cute litte cafe off the beaten path. I had the California style Benedict with pancakes. The Benedict is super yummy, with a side of their hot sauce. I had a latte with almond milk. It only comes with one shot of espresso, so you need to add a shot ot two otherwise it just taste like warm milk. The lattes are expensive though, so I probably won't be getting one here again. It ends up being about $9 for a latte with almond milk and an extra shot of espresso. The ingredients in the food is fresh and good quality. My friend had the skillet and was very happy with it and said it tasted great. My husband had the breakfast tacos and said they were good, but the chorizo was saltier than he likes. The food here was honestly amazing--both in taste and presentation. You can tell a lot of care goes into the dishes, and that part of the experience definitely did not disappoint. Unfortunately, the service was a completely different story. I understand it gets busy, but we were there for a solid 3 hours, even though we finished eating within the first 40 minutes after receiving our food. After being seated, we waited about 15 minutes before anyone came to our table. By that point, we had already decided everything we wanted to order. Throughout the meal, we were never checked on--not once were we asked if the food was good or if we needed anything. We didn't get drink refills, and it honestly felt like we were forgotten. To top it off, we were given the check without being asked if we needed to-go boxes, which made the ending feel rushed despite the slow service earlier. I'm usually a great tipper, but it was honestly difficult to tip well when the service was this unsatisfying. I understand places get busy, but that doesn't excuse the lack of basic attention to customers. I really hope the service improves, because the food alone is worth coming back for. read more

Another great find in Reno. Formerly the Oxbow Cafe. Situated in a more industrial area of town, this amazing Cafe would be easy to miss. There is an outside patio, which made for the perfect location for breakfast. I ordered the Macho Chorizo Tacos. Having grown up in Los Angeles, I love my Mexican food. The Chorizo was delicious without being greasy. The Hashbrowns were prepared to perfection. Others had the Gloria's Special and the Skillet Platter. We were among the first customers of the previous restaurant at this location. We had our wedding dinner here in 2015. The original cook left about that time and then it went downhill. We were so glad to find Gloria's Cafe here in the same building and with the same ambiance. We had breakfast on a weekday. It was excellent. The huevos ahogados was great. The menu said mild salsa so I asked for some heat on the side. Didn't need it. I told my wife that flavor wise it was right up there with some of the best breakfasts we've had in Mexico. The food was 10/10. I got the chicken fried steak. The homemade gravy knocked my socks off. The chicken fried steak was perfectly crispy and flavorful. My wife got biscuits and gravy and she loved it as well. I do have to say that the service was not as great. It took 15 min for someone to notice that we were waiting to order. #thankyouthursday TL DR: some of the friendliest staff, great food, and the perfect place for brunch I had never been to Gloria's Cafe but my sister suggested it as a brunch spot and I have to say I'm completely blown away! Also umbrellas are out to provide additional shade when the sun gets to be too much tables are clean and chairs are clean. We had a party of 6 and were able to fit comfortably. We had a spectacular waitstaff, everyone was so friendly. Food: 5/5 The food was amazing and the price is very competitive to similar restaurants of this size and also ones that have similar menus. I felt like ingredients were fresh and portion size for generous. I'm normally not a fan of huevos rancheros and I did not initially order it, but I couldn't resist trying after seeing it plated so nicely. The dish was well balanced, pico was so fresh. And don't get me started on that guac. BLT: I went with a basic BLT and I was not disappointed. The proportions and ratio of bacon, lettuce, tomato and bread and sure you get the perfect bite of all of the ingredients. A very juicy crunchy pickle complemented the dish well and lastly, those fries...well seasoned crispy an amazing brunch items or lunch item to order. One of the best breakfasts we've had in Reno/Sparks. Gloria's is off the beaten path, and I would have never found it if I hadn't been looking on Yelp for breakfast restaurants in the area. My husband said he's driven by it a few times but never noticed it. Now we have! The Restaurant was nice and clean. The Restaurant staff was friendly and family-owned. They had a nice-sized seating area for both inside and out. Everything was made with fresh ingredients, and the dishes were flavorful and hot! We tried Gloria's again this weekend after my last visit 3 months ago.. this visit was just as stellar as the last! It was busy this Sunday, but we were seated quickly, and had the same great service we had before! I had the combo this time French toast with eggs hash browns and sausage and it was a half order instead of the full order as my last visit. it was excellent once again and the perfect size but still a large portion and I took home a small box. The server was polite and attentive, and the inside of the building has a quaint charm warmth about it that was cozy on the cool fall Sunday. My husband have the steak and eggs. The food God's smiled upon us on Sunday morning when we found Gloria's Cafe! We were greeted by a very friendly woman who may have even been Gloria herself! We were seated in the back area of the restaurant and it was nice and air conditioned. They have outdoor shaded seating, too, but we preferred to sit inside. A girl came by to get our drink order, a vanilla latte, and a decaf coffee. When she heard decaf, she let me know they would make a fresh pot for me! The coffee was delicious! We got there around 10am on Sunday morning and were seated right away! There are a good amount of tables but most were taken when we arrived, and they continued to be filled after we sat down. It's clearly a popular place! We ordered Gloria's Specialty Dish, the Monte Cristo, and iced horchata lattes. Everything was amazing. The Monte Cristo is comparable to a Croque Monsieur, but definitely had its own twist (like having three bread layers, among other things). Gloria's Specialty Dish was a HUGE serving and I couldn't eat it all in one go - but I love leftovers! I really liked the way the potatoes were chopped into smaller pieces and I could easily pile them into my tortilla. I'd like to shout out our waiter, I thought he was super friendly and very responsive to our requests. Overall had a lovely experience here and I would come again.
